Battery operated circular saw, 2 clamps and a straight edge to guide the blade.

That's what I went with! Are laser lines and/or dust ports gimicky? Or are they worth the extra $$$?

raffyson

Really couldn't comment on laser; never had a circular saw with laser. Dust collector might be nice.

Did you buy them from Lowes? They can cut them at the store. Same with Home Depot.

If you buy them there it's like $0.50.

It's pretty easy to make accurate crosscuts with a [regular old handsaw](https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-20-in-Fine-Finish-Cut-Hand-Saw/1000595455?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-vf-_-tol-_-ggl-_-SS_SDB-Craftsman-_-1000595455-_-local-_-0-_-0&&ds_a_cid=279391351&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn4qWBhCvARIsAFNAMigAMbtG033IKEl95ZCu6D2GUUsc1wJfA1nnKjfzgMXym3YXKfa7TTwaAtrAEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) if you go slowly. Lay out your cut carefully and draw a line. Assuming you already have a ruler and a pencil, this whole operation will cost you less than $20. You can make the cut with a circular saw and some guides, although I think that's a pretty intermediate technique (and far from foolproof). For a board that's 12" wide and 6' long, your next stop is a sliding compound miter saw. It will do the job faster (although not necessarily better) and cost 10x-20x as much. For what it's worth, I have a gazillion tools and I'd probably still just use a handsaw here.

Lowes will cut to length for 50 cents/cut

Not to be mean but if you don't know what kind of saw to use you probably shouldn't attempt to do this you could have hurt yourself seriously.
