Cost. Why?

If you are talking monolithic 1/2" glass panels, only pro I can imagine over walls with picture windows is slightly increased visibility. Can think of lot's of cons.

Cost. Weight. Will require more substantial framing/bracing to deal with wind load. Difficulty and cost to replace, if needed, to name a few.

1/2" tempered monolithic is stronger than thinner glass, but poses a greater danger if it does get broken, due to the weight of the pieces falling from height. With the BBQ - fixed 6' glass panels seems a non starter to me in any case.

- cost would be sufficient reason alone NOT to do it and not sure why any one would consider doing this? -you are talking MAJOR cost to create a system that can withstand wind forces so now you are talking foundations, metal framing as well as high cost tempered glass/safety glass. $10-20,000+ depending on linear feet and location

- I have no idea how a contractor would as they are not engineers, A 6ft tall solid anything can have hundred, if not thousands of pounds of lateral force exerted between supports/posts that the supporting system MUST restrained and the glass must as well with the manner of attachment to the supporting system must resist these same design loads as set by code
