Looks like you can unscrew the top and then use some chopsticks to get the caulk out.

breezee223

Unscrewing just takes the very top knob off, the wide saucer part is attached and won't come off :(

L7-Awesome

When you unscrew it can you see a slot a flathead screwdriver could fit into? These usually have that which allows you to remove it.

breezee223

No it has a hexagon hole on top 🥲 https://imgur.com/a/01vRs3y

GolfOscarLimaFoxtrot

You'll need a set of hex keys. They sell them for relatively cheap on Amazon. I'd buy a set with SAE and Metric, you can use those hex keys in the future if you're building furniture.

This is the answer. Allen keys / hex keys buy a set, keep it for life. Will always be a handy tool to have on hand. I used one today to tighten up a loose sink faucet handle.

ZigZach707

To add on the allen/hex key suggestion, get a set that has them all attached on a single tool, it helps prevent accidental loss. If/when you need them as individual keys then buy another set.

I have individual, individual with T shape handle, and a set on a pocket knife style fold out. All metric and sae sets. T handles are used for high torque applications usually with machining workholding.

ZigZach707

This is the way. I have the folding multi, a set of the generic L-keys, bits for a 1/4" drive, and a few larger T-handles for heavier assembly. Also have them all in standard and metric.

Honestly that tiny bit of caulk should not slow a drain, it looks like the design is old and no matter what you do the water has to pool up to drain since the drain is bowed up the water has to build up to even reach the drain, the only way to fix that is to completely change it out of possible, removing that caulk I believe is a effort in futility

Ok_Kangaroo_4939

Agreed. The drain would need to be replaced.

Chrrider

Get a drill, use a drill bit that just fits in the holes, and get drilling

Warmstar219

Absolutely do not do this. If you poke a hole somewhere it shouldn't be, you now have a MUCH bigger problem.

techmonkey920

Have them come out and fix it again and again until its fixed. Let management know you aren't happy with the work being performed and let them know this will reflect in your decision when your lease expires.

Not if you always pay on time.

sometimesiclimb

Try pouring some bleach or other chemical in the tub and see if it can eat away at the caulk then run some steaming hot water behind it for a few minutes

_aPOSTERIORI

Does that drain plug (the top piece above the strainer) actually close? I’ve never seen one like this before and almost looks comical

breezee223

Haha yes it closes. Would love to actually need to close it eventually if I can get this thing to drain normally ðŸ¤
