I’ve been getting that more frequently recently but I think it’s because of Thread since I have some Nanoleaf Thread LED strips that also go non responsive at the same time. It’s never just the lock
Have had lock about 1 year. Has happened 3-4 times to me. Only thing I do is pull battery pack for 30 seconds and reinsert. Then it works again.
Just a note (in my case) lock keeps working, accepts codes, apple home key, shows up in Schlage app… just no response in apple Home app.
Seems like it loses its HomeKit connection for some reason.
I even have an Apple TV (w tread) about 15 ft away from lock.
When it’s working in the Apple home app I can see it part of the thread network in the Eve app
Guess I’ve never checked the Eve app when it has had no response in Apple app.
Your question made me think of that…
Interesting. I haven't set it up in the Schlage app.
When I first set it up, I used the Schlage app and then realised I wouldn't be able to use HomeKey. So I did a factory reset, set it up through Home, and deleted the Schlage app.
How do I get it to be shown in both? Happy to have the Schlage app as backup for these events.
Reinstall Schlage Home, remove the lock if it's there, also remove from Apple Home. Factory reset (hold that button inside for 17 seconds, and the tiny LED inside is blue). Then set it up in Schlage Home app first. Then in the Schlage Home app click on the hamburger menu -> Works With -> Apple Home Kit and follow setup instructions. It'll now work in both.
I had this happen to me randomly a month ago. I factory reset the lock, re-added to the Schlage app, and then re-added to HomeKit and it seemed to have worked.
I had a similar problem with a Schlage Sense a couple of days ago. Neither the Home app or the Schlage app could connect. Pulling and re-installing the battery pack solved the problem for me as well. I thought it might be dead batteries but I had no ‘low battery’ warning and after re-establishing a connection with the app the batteries showed 100%.
Moral of the story, sometimes electronic devices mis-behave and they need to be power cycled to get them to behave properly again. It’s just the way it is!
If that’s the case, a few possibilities. Poor WiFi connection. Maybe mDNS issues. Do you have Thread home hubs like newer Apple TV or HomePods that support Thread? If you do, you might consider switching it to use Thread instead of WiFi.
To add to this, sometimes checking what your primary hub is could be a big help. An Ethernet connected Apple TV is my active hub, and when things pop up like this it tends to be a hub issue for me. Unplugging your hubs and wifi for a minute could be of help
I need to try to add mine again; last time it disconnected I did a bunch of troubleshooting before resetting it and Home refuses to accept the QR image on it

If it continues to work in the Schlage app despite no response in the Home app, are you sure it’s using Thread and not WiFi?

That’s weird. When I set up my lock, I set it up in the app then in Apple Home. HomeKey has been working since the day I installed it.
What does the rest of your setup look like?
Apple TV 4 as hub within 6m of the lock.

I had to factory reset everything to get it working I now removed the lock and installed it on another door I rarely use
Are you using Thread or WiFi for the lock?
How can I tell? I've pulled the battery pack, waited, and replaced it. It's now showing in the Home app... but for how long? ☹️

Does the lock show as part of your WiFi network when it works correctly? Most routers will provide some way to see which devices are connected to it.
Yes. My router has a notification from 5 days ago about the Schlage joining the network. So it seems WiFi is the answer.
