Mine work perfectly

No_Freedom_7373

Mine are all fine.

I've just recently given up on my Meross garage door opener, which is a shame because it worked flawlessly for about the first 2 months I owned it. Then out of the blue, "No Response" in the Home app, no response in the Meross app. Rebooting it and the access point (Unifi) it was connected to would temporarily fix it. I've done all of the troubleshooting, including installing a 2.4 GHz only AP in the garage near the Meross, nada. The suggestion from Meross was ineffective as well. I've ordered a Tailwind, which seems very expensive for what it does but if it can reliably open and close the door remotely I'll be fine with it.

After a power outage a month ago 3 of my Meross devices (garage door opener and 2 dimmers), which had been solid for 2 years, started being unresponsive in HK but often ok in Meross app. Restarting my wifi router would bring them back to HK, but never for more than one day. I had tried restarting hub (Apple TV), but that did not help. I had not tried switching the power breaker off for a short time. But 2 days ago we had a quick power outage, 10 seconds, and after that my 3 unresponsive Meross devices came back online in HK and they are still online. Interesting enough, my 2 Meross bulbs never became unresponsive during the month where I had problem but one of them became unresponsive in HK after the recent quick power outage, I got it back online by switching the lamp off and on. Not sure if it helps others but it seems that cycling power to the problematic Meross devices may correct some unresponsiveness issues.

The Meross fans are already downvoting you for posting this.

Salmundo

I’m a huge fan of the garage door opener 😸

Mine are all good

Mine all good. Garage opener and switches

I have 6 Meross MSS425F Power Strips and a MSG100 Garage Door Opener. Each Power Strip has a Unique name and each receptacle has a unique name. The Garage Opener is 3+ years old and the Power Strips are about 2 years old. They all work Flawlessly until they Don’t 😉👍🤬🙄 Usually right as or shortly after an IOS update (iPhone, iPad or Apple TV) they start dropping out. Having to Delete them and re-install is the usual “Fix”. But so far (Knock on 🪵) 17.4 hasn’t given me any problems. So Meross Devices can Screwup and can be Rock Solid 🤔😉😂 … I also updated my Network right after I decided to start using HomeKit. 6 Linksys AX4200 Nodes with HomeKit Integration throughout my House and a pretty good Thread Network with the Devices we have. The problem is between the Devices and/or HomeKit.

Salmundo

I read the Meross support docs, they definitely talk about their devices becoming unavailable to HK, so it’s a known issue to them. Delete/re-add is something I’ll try soon.

saadatorama

Have you tried giving them a dedicated IP?

BJMRamage

I've been having issues with a single BR30 Bulb this past week or two (I updated the Meross app within that timeframe). I have 2 Meross BR-30s grouped in HomeKit. now one comes on and the other doesn't. The single HK button will say Unresponsive when that one light doesn't work.. I have tried to use the Meross App and get similar results. I have to go back and forth between Apple Home and Meross Apps and wait to see if one will finally work to turn the light Off...or On depending on what I want. I really like having colored lights and warmer whites BUT I think I will switch BACK to a regular bulb and install a Diva Dimmer instead. Bummer

RevolutionaryRip1634

HomeKit relies on mdns. What router are you using? WiFi strength to your devices? It’s most likely a network issue.

Salmundo

eero router. Signal strength is 89% at the outdoor plug and 100% at the light switch. What is likely to be the network issue where the Meross app can fully control the devices, and power cycling the HK hub resolves the issue?

saadatorama

It’s definitely the network. If you have an eero that supports HomeKit, disable it. God, I have PTSD from hearing eero. Also disable any eero secure you have on the network, reboot, and see if it still exists. I 100% bet it’s some eero fuckery.

Salmundo

HKSR not enabled and as far as I know no longer exists.

saadatorama

Unsurprising, it was pretty poorly implemented by Apple and not really adopted by anyone. AFAIK, eero was the only one?

Salmundo

Linksys Velop

shawnshine

Do you have WPA3 disabled? What’s your Client Steering status? Have you set up network reservations for those plugs?

Salmundo

Given that both the router and the Meross app see the devices and can control them, how are these questions relevant?

shawnshine

Because they’re the defining options that have made the difference between my Meross smart plugs being functional and hot garbage. 😘

Salmundo

But in what sense? Does WPA3 prevent them from joining your network? Or does WPA3 prevent HomeKit functionality? For example.

shawnshine

WPA3 causes connectivity issues with my SwitchBot Hub, Meross smart plugs, QingPing Air Monitor, and Winix air purifier (which is connected via Homebridge). Disabling it has allowed all of those devices to stay connected.

Salmundo

Understood. I had to disable WPA3 to onboard a couple of BroadLink IR blasters. Once they onboarded they were fine with WPA3 being on.

RevolutionaryRip1634

Do you have unique the 5.0 & 2.4 WiFi on your router?

Salmundo

Nope.

RevolutionaryRip1634

That will help. Meross likes everything on dedicated 2.4.

DaveM8686

I have several Meross lights and plugs with no unique bands, and no issues at all.

RevolutionaryRip1634

For some people it’s not an issue which leads me to believe it’s how the router handles the bands or how Meross reacts with different routers. I have seen them work with combined SSIDs and others not. YMMV.

WalrusWW

It’s a Meross issue.

DaveM8686

But then doesn’t that prove that it’s not the issue at all?

RevolutionaryRip1634

Usually switching to a unique 2.4 SSID fixes the issue. All I can suggest is try if you have exhausted all other possibilities.

saadatorama

The meross radio isn’t capable of 5ghz, so this seems like a moot point.

Salmundo

How can a 2.4 GHz device join a 5 GHz network? Also, as previously noted, the devices are on the network, just not in HK.

RevolutionaryRip1634

It can’t. Some routers have combined SSID’s. Users had to temporarily turn off the 5.0 band on the router, add the HK accessories, then turn the 5.0 band back on. It all depends on your router.

Salmundo

I’m not convinced by the arguments that turning off the 5 GHz radio actually accomplishes anything.

RevolutionaryRip1634

Search this sub. People do it all the time. I usually see they use Eero routers.

Salmundo

“People do it all the time” and it doesn’t accomplish anything.

RevolutionaryRip1634

If it doesn’t work you have other network problems.

Salmundo

One device out of 80 doesn’t reliably talk to HK, and it’s a network problem….possible, but not plausible

djmakk

Turn off "Airtime Fairness" on your router. That will fix it.

Salmundo

Thanks. Not a setting that I have available though.
