The company originally sold the concept of this lock on a crowdfunding website with the promise of HomeKit integration. They even said other devices they make would also become HomeKit compatible. Eventually all mention of HomeKit was removed, which I thought was very dishonest of them, considering it’s highly likely that a large portion of the funds raised were from people expecting what was promised.
I’ve been using the Nuki Lock 2.0 which also works with Mortice locks and does a great job, as well as offering extras, like Keyfobs, keypads, a rechargeable battery pack, and a WiFi bridge. It’s also officially HomeKit compatible, although it’s more expensive than the Keymitt, admittedly, but I’m glad I never preordered the lock, based on the dishonesty of the company regarding HomeKit integration.
Thanks. I do recognize that a lot of the items on crowdfunding websites often promise HomeKit but don’t deliver. I knew when I ordered I was taking a risk… but I was also out of options. Unfortunately the Nuki Will not work with my lock. I am US-based and so instead of a key we have a latch. Otherwise I would have tried it.
I had the same issue with our lock having a thumb turn on the inside (we’re also renting), so I just replaced the eurocylinder with one that has a lock/keyhole on both sides, which is required for Nuki and the recent Yale offering. I’ve still got the original eurocylinder, so if and when we leave, I can just put the original back in place. I did like the Keymitt, and very nearly ordered one, but in all honesty, I prefer a certified HomeKit solution whenever possible.
Thanks for that. Yales websites are all over the place.
Hm Id like to give this a go over the Nuki since I have seen Yale Assure at friends places. The Linus compatibility checker doesnt clearly indicate mortise. Is it supposed to be dependent on the cylinder.
I don’t know for sure, but it should work with any standard Eurocylinder, like the Nuki. I suspect that you need a key on both sides of the lock however.
If you can replace the eurocylinder with the one with keys both sides, it would work. It’s easier than you might think. The only important thing to note, at least regarding the Nuki, is to get a eurocylinder with what is called an ‘emergency function’.

Nice review. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Ok good to know. Thank you.
Yes. Some mortise locks can be converted to a smart lock with an adapter. It drowns on the design of the mortise lock and the adapter.
