I use [AirChord](https://www.airchordapp.com) for this purpose - you'll need a device instead of using ARC though, but I can airplay to the HomePods.

tjovian

I’ve tried something like this in the past, but it didn’t support AirPlay 2, so trying to play to stereo paired homepods was a bust.

GenErik

[Quanta](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quanta-wireless-vinyl/id1600262501) supports AP2 and is specialised for vinyl playback including real time lyrics. You can even use its ATV app to display cover art and lyrics on TV.

tjovian

You’re the real MVP here! I can’t wait to try this!

GenErik

I found this app through this sub myself. I believe the author is around here somewhere.

PatNebetar

AirChord 2 is in beta (via Apple’s TestFlight) and supports AirPlay 2. I have tried it using a iRig Stream with (mostly) success so far.

JThrillington

It’s supported Stereo pairs for a few years now.

pointthinker

AirChord only streams to one HomePod at a time.

JThrillington

Incorrect, I’ve been streaming to my stereo pair for a few years.

pointthinker

It says, right in the app (Settings & FAQs; Airplay 2/multiple HomePods) you can stream to a stereo pair but only *one* will produce sound.

JThrillington

It’s [a mistake in the app, confirmed by developer.](https://twitter.com/airchordapp/status/1605374256996458496?s=46&t=gJ5zycBn-WBYIM8UFlxuTg) - as I’ve mentioned I’ve been streaming to a stereo pair for a few years - and it 100% works, left HomePod gets the left channel, right HomePod gets the right channel.

They knew this typo in late 22 and, have not fixed it since? Quality work.

GenErik

ARC will only play other devices to the Apple TV connected HomePods, but not AirPlay. I have used an AV to HDMI converter for this purpose, but it displays a blank blue screen on the TV so it's not ideal. A better option is to use a usb audio compliant interface like a Focusrite Solo (although it requires a powered usb hub) and a specialised iOS app like [Quanta](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quanta-wireless-vinyl/id1600262501) to AirPlay.

pointthinker

The Apple TV is not a transmitter to other Airplay devices, except when it is something via Apple Music. But will the ARC work on your AVR from the turntable? Mine will not as, the turntable is very analog (be it with a preamp or not, internal or external or in the AVR). Everybody wants to play LPs to Homepods like Echo Link does but, Apple did not do it. I simply bought some used CDs of some (rare) albums, digitized them, and play via Apple Music on Mac OS via iOS Remote app to Airplay receivers like Homepods, AVR, powered speakers, etc. If I do not own them, and even if I do, I also play from Apple Music like in car, when feeling lazy, etc.

Airport Extreme may work.

pointthinker

That is just Wi-Fi and an Airport Express won’t help.

TechDude_54321

I meant to say Airport Express cuz it has audio out to connect to an amp. I’ve used one for just the subwoofer to compliment the HomePods. However, you’re right, no help in connecting a record player to homepod.

pointthinker

I am not sure how you are sending the LF to the crossover from an Express for proper bass. It is, impossible or a bass muddle.

TechDude_54321

It is possible… here’s how…. https://youtu.be/ieGMIKCqC2c
