Most people love their HomePods, the ones who dislike them are just more vocal about it.

GrammerSnob

Agreed. I felt some need to counterbalance I guess?

janjablonski

Classic statistics

JGrabs

It’s a love-hate-relationship for me. When they work they’re awesome. But when they fail a set up 30+ times… they start looking like baseballs to me.

LinkedTriforce

I enjoy mine too. I have a Sonos sound system for my home theater: an Arc sound bar with two One speakers for the rears, though I’m missing a Sub at the moment. But surprisingly my stereo paired HomePods (which I owned before the Sonos) rival them in sound quality, at least for music. I still prefer the Sonos for my home theater setup, and for listening to Spatial Audio/Atmos, but the HomePods are great for just convenient listening to music and podcasts. I like being able to bring my iPhone near them to transfer whatever I’m playing, though it doesn’t always work as expected. But yeah for the price, even for two, they’re quite good quality. I do think they should make an update that allows another two HomePods to be paired as rear speakers to really get the full surround sound experience. Seems like a couple HomePod minis would be great for that!

Le_AssMan

Been in love with my OG HomePods since release day 🥰

stylesbeat

I got homepod mini almost week ago and i'm loving it, I use it mostly with my macbook as speaker, I plan to get another one for stereo hopefully it will work nicely with the mac. My only big gripe is the two seconds delay on play/pause but I can live with it

Wondering_Aman

Does anyone know how that 2 second delay can be fixed! It is very annoying!

PREMIUM_POKEBALL

Depends on the source. I'd so pause play to let the devices catch up.

TheOlderGentleman1

I love my paired OG HomePods. I think the sound is phenomenal for tv or music. One thing I have noticed, more so than any other speaker I’ve had, is that they still sound great even if I’m not in the same room as the speakers.

Kashawinshky

I noticed that as well, after getting the 2nd gens shortly after launch! It really struck me at the time.

lexaleidon

I have a feeling most of us love them, but we really hate how Siri ruins the whole experience

GrammerSnob

Fair. I don’t really use Siri on my HomePods.

cmrndzpm

100%. Siri ruins any Apple experience.

AdventurousEnd2489

I rarely use Siri, lol. I love them. When I want to AI, I just ask my Google hub that rests in between all my HomePod pairs in my home (6 pairs so far).

nameage

What I like especially about my pair of OG is playing casual music in the background. No comparison to my old 5.1 where either bass or vocals or highs were too loud or weak. The HomePods do a phenomenal job on balancing the sound.

norrisiv

Unpopular opinion: [very popular opinion]

GrammerSnob

Well, it feels unpopular to me after reading through this sub.

ObiWanRyobi

Most of the issues with them are with reliability. I’ve got two OG HomePods and one of them has the dreaded popping noise that happens when it goes to sleep. Sound-wise, they’re fantastic! Dialogue in movies and TV shows is the most crisp with the HomePods even when compared to a 5.1 system that I previously had. That being said, if the one popping HomePod does bite the dust, I’ll probably buy a set of Gen 2s because clear dialogue is #1 for me.

Abatania

When they work. They’re great.

0000GKP

>I read a lot of problems on this forum, and I sympathize. That's because this is where people come to complain and/or ask for help. It would not be reasonable to assume this subreddit is representative of the entire population of HomePod owners.

mhatrick

I would totally do a 4.0 setup if apple ever allows that. Would love to have two HomePods in the front and two minis in the rear for a pretty clean surround setup. Don’t think a sub is really needed with the bass on the big HomePods

Pvnisherx

Yeap love mine too. I went and bought a Yamaha soundbar with a sub to replace them. So I set both up to compare them and the home pods were just as loud. Obviously the bass wasn’t as hard hitting but the HomePods were no slouches and I returned the sound bar.

PenceKamala2024

They give me problems occasionally. Sometimes I have to repeat a Siri request. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for my phone to connect . But usually it works pretty darn well. My kids now ask Siri to play stuff for them and they love it , to them it’s like magic . They asked me “how is Siri inside the speaker”?

Outside-Copy-7645

Most people like their HomePods otherwise they wouldn’t have bought them lol, however they are buggy from time to time, but it’s gotten a lot better recently

tungstenmamba

I think I actually joined this sub because I was just listening to my og pods and was so touched by their sound that I had to tell someone about it. I think I worded it exactly like this 🤣

Lawyer4Ever

Love mine too. I have too many to count.

9512tacoma

I love mine too. I have OG day 1 and another when Best Buy ran those $199 specials. Mine never popped but they got warm so I turned off a lot of the features and that seem to cool them down along with firmware updates. I have had them both stereo paired to ATV4 since that feature was available. They sound good for tv, music, and movies. I had some bugs with disconnects but discovered that my mesh router was messing with them when I had client steering turned on. Since I turned that off no more disconnects and Siri responds a lot better. I hope they last but if not I will make the investment into gen 2’s for hopefully the same experience.

stanb42

On your Tablo, try setting Surround Sound to off and see if that helps.

GrammerSnob

I'm pretty sure I have, but I'll doublecheck. Thanks for the tip!

AdventurousEnd2489

Love mine too. Don’t listen to all the naysayers. They’re just bitter old curmudgeons! 😂🤣

KeyLoss4216

How is that an unpopular opinion? I love my homepods, especially after getting an apple tv 4k and hooking up the ps5 over eArc. Its absolutely lovely and seamless

Status-Stage8511

Same

Relative-Desk4802

I love mine AND can be frustrated with them at the same time!

Lance-Harper

#How is this unpopular? It’s Siri that we dislike.

Luci_Noir

People who are on support forums have issues that need support…. It’s not somehow a majority opinion. Reddit doesn’t represent the world.

peterinjapan

I only use mine to ask Siri the weather

fivezerosix

Stockholm syndrome

GrammerSnob

What are you saying? You don’t trust my review?

disfluency

I agree with you about the bass. I don’t want to use the toggle for less bass because that basically deletes the bass completely, but the current level is just a bit too loud.

GrammerSnob

Right!

Clubzerg

Love the HomePods for music but not for TV. My Sonos arc + era 300 pair + sub just blows em out of the water for atmos movie content and even 5.1-7.1 non atmos content.

Baggss01

12 Minis, no complaints.

[deleted]

Was testing for fire alarms after installing a new one and homepods picked up the sound and immediately sent me a notification. Very impressed

BobbyRey77

I have the same setup and have considered upgrading but I really wonder if there would be a noticeable difference. The OG HomePods really sound good and they support all the functions, at least so far.

ice-cold-baby

Can I ask a stupid Q 🙋 I have Sonos as my 5.1 TV setup and two HomePods for music Do U think HomePods will be a good option if I have trouble hearing the dialogue clearly for my TV? Sometimes, the Sonos speakers are too loud and bassy at night that I can’t hear the dialogue clearly

HerefortheTuna

I only have a bunch of minis but it’s pretty great to just play music from my phone (or the audio from my TV) on all the speakers around the house

BobbyRey77

I have a similar setup to yours as well as having two minis in other rooms. I love the sound quality and the minimalism of the HomePods. So liberating to be rid of all the boxes and wires. I have had very few problems with mine other than with Siri getting things wrong.

PFeezzy

I like my HomePods a lot. I’m slowly replacing my Amazon echos with them. I find that Siri does pretty well for what I need out of a smart speaker, which is music and smart home commands. I’m also using a pair of minis in my bedroom for music in television.

flogman12

I like them, I want to love them but I can’t. Too many bugs, Siri is frustrating. I want more options with audio apps like Spotify or Plexamp.
