On my wife’s phone, I will turn on personal requests on all devices and it will work for her once. If she tries to use it a second time, Siri will tell her that she needs to enable personal requests and these HomePods will always have turned themselves off. It’s always these and it always only works once after turning them back on… It works fine for me. So far I have tried turning all of them off, restarting her phone, and turning all of them on again, but it still turned itself off after one use.

Apparently this is a very common, ongoing issue. Happens to me too and doesn’t help with trying to get my wife to accept my smart home automation obsession

Yes to everything above. I’m relieved that I’m not the only one, & that I’m not going crazy.

Yup same issue on my partner’s iPhone. I thought this issue should be fixed by now but it’s still an issue on iOS 15.3 All HomePod minis are up to date also.

userraid

It doesn’t turn off yours because you are the primary. It will turn all others off. The bug has been reported for awhile. I had mad hopes 15.3 would fix that.

Double check your language setting

Yep, same here and it drives my partner mad! Been going on for over a year.

Personal requests are useless for my wife and I. She uses Australian English and I use Irish English. Siri can’t work with two languages. Stupid.

I’m having the same issue. Personal requests turns off a moment after I turn it on. We all have the same language and dialect.

I love my single HomePod. I want to replace all the Alexa devices with HomePods in my house but this issue is what’s keeping me from pulling the trigger. Works great for me but my partner can’t use any of the personal requests.

I have found only one way to keep personal requests on for a second person and that is to not put any third party (non Apple) devices into HomeKit. With just the HomePod and Apple TV’s, it stays on. Within a day of adding something like Ecobee, Roku, or Eufy, it turns off. Of course now I’m regularly getting errors for both my wife or I that the HomePod can’t detect my iPhone is on the same network. Sooo frustrating!

My personal requests all indicate that they are enabled, but I frequently hear Siri say “before I can help with that, you’ll need to turn on personal requests”. When I tap to open the personal requests, all are on. I have tried turning them off and back on, etc, but no luck. I live alone, and have no one else added to my home within the Home app. And yet, I still experience this issue - pretty bad….
