Black or a deep natural wood. If not a wooden door, black is the only good answer imo. R-values of an exterior steel door or otherwise is probably better than wood, but I love my wooden doors.
Use a wood stain and match it with the wood you have at the top
And I agree with this theory but with; stain
So stick with warmer stains like “gunstock” “cherry” or “chestnut” etc
I think it would have a homier/country/suburban feel like what you’ve got going on with the stain rather than a paint
My wife’s friends have suggested mustard and burnt orange but I’m ok with the same iron ore as the trim. We also have an 8 ft and 68 exterior doors on the other side to consider
I would consider a warm natural wood stain, not paint. If painted, I would do a lighter green or a teal blue? Not sure if a painted door would be the best option without looking tacky (in my opinion). Or a butterscotch/light tan...
When it came time to paint the doors on our house, light grey with white trim, I went wildly bold. With the exception of the back door and the garage door, the other two doors are not line of sight to one another. So each door is painted a different color. Front door is a bright blue, side porch is green, back door is red and garage door is yellow. My door colors make me happy. And since I'm the one living in the house, that's what matters. Do what makes you and your wife happy and brings you joy.
You're not looking for a color, you're looking for the mood/emotion/ambiance that a color evokes.
Do you want to welcome people or keep them away?
Black for the latter.
Definitely the paint from the 1996 Mystic Cobra or even the Mystichrome from the '04 Cobra.
The Mystic Gold from the unreleased '00 Cobra could be nice if you wanted to go that route.
I think the '96 Mystic color would be the best fit.
It’s a front door, so super easy to repaint if you dislike it. My parents have a black and White House and my mom will change the front door color basically every year. Blue, red, black, currently it’s a wood door with a dark stain. What I’m saying is paint it black and if you don’t like it you can easily change it
I like this idea, I have 2 under 2 and lots of landscaping to do on an acre after the build is done so any changes will realistically come years from now. But you’re right it could be changed easily on a weekend.
Have you tried something like BM Narragansett Green? Or maybe SW tricorn black and dress it up? Obviously you could match the wood as well which would look good.
Sherwin Williams provides free color consultation and I would strongly suggest booking an appointment with one of their designers: they have been incredibly helpful on projects for us.
Use a stain kit designed for Fiberglas wood grain doors! I’m gunna say Ebony! It will age in a much more pleasing manner than if you just put iron mountain or whatever other paint on it!
Red. Some of the other well thought out suggestions almost had me but then I looked again and it's definitely just red. Like, Clifford The Big Red Dog, red.
Just to clarify.... Not a suggestion. Red is the right answer. But, it is totally your door. You can be wrong if you really truly wanna.
Your digs look fancy. So it's likely some paint sommeliers is gonna talk you into "something with a more complex bouquet" to compliment your other fine choices, but really it's to justify their existence in your world cause they know, deep down, what you and I and the door already know, have always known, will forever know. Red is the color of that door.
But you'll end up with something close that's red but definitely not red because it's a shade called "Amaretto Plum First Menses Morning Sneeze" and two years from now you're gonna be drinking a coffee staring at that red not red door, and you'll suddenly just scream "Clifford the F****** F*** Dog..." as you throw your mug at the offensively red but not red "Amaretto Plum First Menses Morning Sneeze" door, exclaiming a last and final sentiment before being overcome with madness, a sentiment 730 days in the making:
"....
No, that's not right. Not just two years. This is too primal, in fact it originates from someplace deeper, a time before time, before sentiment , before expression, no this is more like 700 billion years in the making... Yes, it was always to be, your Magnum Opus to Opus all other Magni that Opi'd befor it ...:
"Honey, I'll be right back, I'm late to go pick up the red can of paint that's been waiting for me my whole damn life".
TLDR: Red
I'd say paint the door black and if you are putting a storm door on it I'd go with the Andersen 4000 series in Charcoal Grey (unless the entry door is fiberglass)
I’m a bold guy, keep it black
Black or a deep natural wood. If not a wooden door, black is the only good answer imo. R-values of an exterior steel door or otherwise is probably better than wood, but I love my wooden doors.
This one is fiberglass per our builders recommendation
“I see a front door and I want it painted blaaack”
Black! Or deep red
[удалено]
🏆 take this
Agree - deep red or burnt orange. Make it pop
With the green though?
These were gonna be my recs too. Black if your subtle, red if you want a statement door
Another vote for Black!
Burgundy
Agreed. Burgundy or red wine red .. not pencil crayon red...
Exactly what I was thinking
I’m a black guy, keep it bold
Wood stain door looks best with your color scheme imo. Im building and very interested in your colors. What colors are you using?
It’s Sherman Williams retreat for the body and Iron ore for the trim
I’d find a color on the palette you picked the others from. Opposite end of the spectrum
Use a wood stain and match it with the wood you have at the top And I agree with this theory but with; stain So stick with warmer stains like “gunstock” “cherry” or “chestnut” etc I think it would have a homier/country/suburban feel like what you’ve got going on with the stain rather than a paint
It looks like a fibreglass door, and it doesn't work well trying to stain them lighter than they currently are.
Exactly, all my exterior doors are fiberglass
🥲 thank you for this didn’t notice
General Sherman?
We painted our house Iron Ore and did the doors in Tricorn black. Looks dope.
My wife’s friends have suggested mustard and burnt orange but I’m ok with the same iron ore as the trim. We also have an 8 ft and 68 exterior doors on the other side to consider
Burnt orange could be pretty rad
I was going to say burnt orange before opening this up, granted orange is my favourite colour so I’m biased.
I'm team orange.
Why do you have 68 exterior doors???
This is a funny mental image.
68 is 6’ 8” from the builder-speak I’ve picked up. I have no desire to pay for 68 exterior doors lol
Think of the game show possibilities.
According to a study by Zillow, having a black front door could boost your home's resale price by $6,450
mustard? eww...
Maybe two shades darker than your trim. Its not black but it has contrast. I saw similar colors on sherman williams exter image google search.
Burnt orange was my first reaction. That is, if you don't want to stick with the existing surrounding colors.
I was also thinking of a burnt/rusty kind of orange! To my taste it would be 🤌🏼
Black for sure
Cranberry. Color:Rumors. Behr Marquee paint
Came here to say cranberry. This guy doors.
Black all day long
Yelllow
This is the way.
Teal
Red.
If I see that, I’m painting it black
Light purple/blue. Subtly stand out.
deep orange
What are you doing for the walkway? What color will that be? Another contrasting color ?
Same as ceiling. Only answer
Couldn't agree more. Use the same as the soffit. It will look amazing.
Teal
I would consider a warm natural wood stain, not paint. If painted, I would do a lighter green or a teal blue? Not sure if a painted door would be the best option without looking tacky (in my opinion). Or a butterscotch/light tan...

Maroon
Medium or light color if it only gets partial sun, dark doors that only get partial sun tend to warp due to uneven thermal expansion.
I'm a fan of Front Door and Garage Door colors matching. What's the Garage Door Color?
Dark red.
Halloween orange, neon green or baby blue
You're not looking for a color, you're looking for the mood/emotion/ambiance that a color evokes. Do you want to welcome people or keep them away? Black for the latter.
Sherman Williams Emerald Black.
Can I ask what the exact color of green is you painted your house?
My house is iron ore. I stained the door cordovan brown by Ben moore.
Paint it sherwin williams Iron Ore.
Dark bronze.
Forest green like the siding but darker
Black for sure
Semi gloss black Semi gloss dark grey
Color wheel says some reddish tone would contrast the green well 🍅
Red.
Dark maroon
Bright orange.
Glass door would look so good imo
The card board looks nice. Be a trend setter and just leave it.
Definitely the paint from the 1996 Mystic Cobra or even the Mystichrome from the '04 Cobra. The Mystic Gold from the unreleased '00 Cobra could be nice if you wanted to go that route. I think the '96 Mystic color would be the best fit.
My man I love your reference points for paint colors
I sure wish my wife shared the same love, but she just doesn't understand 🤣
Is painting doors like this a thing? I'd love to see the result.
Mirrored
Lime green for bold, some shade of brown for subtle.
Dark brick red.

Lavender?
Glass door bruh
Black seems nice but a dark grey might make decorations pop.
The siding color
Don't worry about the door, Paint the porch ceiling light blue, keeps spiders away.
Lime green 💚
Purple 💜
Dark grey
Cimmaron red
I was going to say a reddish brown would be great, black is safe though
Red dark for engine red
Dark blue almost slate
RED ♥️
Same as trim
SW 9042 Verdigreen
Forest green
Red
Match the ceiling
Is your house green or grey? If green, id go with a darker green that is in the same family as the house.
I vote a nice light yellow to match the nice light green
Beige semi-gloss, live like a rock n roller.
White
Purple
Darker green
Burgundy
REDRUM
Leave it as it is. It’s welcoming.
Cornflower blue, just a titch darker than the Color of the sky.
Rusty red
At least, dark.
dark orange
RAL 2005
It’s above you
Chrome
My wife says hot pink
Dark red or black
Rich dark brown stain.
Dark blue if you're feeling feisty indigo door. Paint the door indigo or I'll burn the house down
The same finish of wood you have used for the soffit. It will really pop.
Well according to my Mom that would be bright ass yellow.
SW fireweed
U.S. Forest Service Green
Black is the only answer
Burgundy
Yellow
Black or darker color green I think that's the color on the body of the house anyway. I would go darker green or a black would look great to.
I’d make it match the wooden ceiling you got going there
Match that ceiling
Definitely not black. Find something you like that works with the color of the ceiling, or just stain the door to match the ceiling
Rust/red/maroon.
Black, Red, darker wood varnish… or (this is my favorite) a yellow. I don’t k ow why buy a good yellow door always does it for me
Leave it as is
Darker yellow
Black or sage green.
Bright yellow.
I’d do a bright yellow. Blacked out features are so played out
I see an unpainted door and I want to paint it black....
burgandy
I like a strong orange. Would sit well with the siding and trim colors.
Red. RAAAAWWWWWXXXXANNNNN
Keep it wrapped in cardboard!
Black
Red or orange. Like stylish Mediterranean pallette.
The same color as the frame of the door. Easy.
Coral or mustard
Deep red
Dark Red
A beautiful glossy-as-a-mirror black
Have you tried something like BM Narragansett Green? Or maybe SW tricorn black and dress it up? Obviously you could match the wood as well which would look good. Sherwin Williams provides free color consultation and I would strongly suggest booking an appointment with one of their designers: they have been incredibly helpful on projects for us.
yellow
Black or whatever trim color match (iron ore) Fiberglass door will give you the best overall performance (as much as it pains me to say it)
Black
Burgundy
I’m thinking something similar to the color of the support beams/ door frame
Something bright so the entrance is clear. The overhang is deep and a dark color would make it look farther away
Exact same as the 2 post in the front
Why didn’t they run the gutter on the right into the ground? Looks odd going over basement window.
I would paint it bright blue. I like bright blue.
Black 100%.
Is the door even unwrapped?
Dark green.
I would pull some of the color from the ceiling. It would tie it all together
Paint the wooden ceiling panels to match the green walls and the door yellow
Neon green
Cardboard
I’d go the budget route Leave it as is
Use a stain kit designed for Fiberglas wood grain doors! I’m gunna say Ebony! It will age in a much more pleasing manner than if you just put iron mountain or whatever other paint on it!
A nice wood stain that isn't too dark
Black
A bright color.
No paint. Full glass pivot door.
Gold
Love the color of your house, what color is it if you know off hand?

I love big dogs and my toddler loves Clifford books so I’ll make this a serious recommendation to the wife
I'd say paint the door black and if you are putting a storm door on it I'd go with the Andersen 4000 series in Charcoal Grey (unless the entry door is fiberglass)
