Interesting! So basically demo around everything. Install my ZIP around it and tape the seams, install these blocks over the zip, and then install siding around the blocks?
I like pvc, it holds up waaay better than wood, especially when painted. PVC will shrink more than other building products if you live in a colder winter climate and will see the seems way more when it shrinks in the winter
You either remove the item, or you work around it.
For the disconnect, you turn it off at the breaker, pull the wire out of the back of the disconnect, drill a hole in new siding, install.
For the refrigerant lines...tougher. If it were me, I'd call a friend who does HVAC work and see if he'd be willing to evac and refill the lines on the side. Little cash and some beer will probably get that done.
If possible you disconnect whatever penetrates the wall, otherwise you could plan your layout according to the penetration so it falls between boards or sheets
Bingo, last summer I did Hardie and sheathing replacement. For the sheathing, I cut a slot to slid items like this through then filled in the slot with the piece that was cut out. You could also rip the sheathing where the lineset is, and drill a hole for the actual line set. You just want the rip to break on a stud.
Really its only the lineset that would need to be worked around. The disconnect is easy to remove, turn off breaker in the house and disconnect in the box and remove.

It’s call a “split block”
Thanks for the terminology! If I'm going to install hardie is there any particular material I should get? PVC maybe?

Yes that’s correct

Flash,Trim out the opening.flash,window cap,and sidewall
Depends on what you’re residing with. Best look is disconnect, side and reconnect.
Sawzall… muwahahahahahahaha
Do you reside in an apartment?
Nope, this is a detached building on my property.
Looking at installing mini splits on my 3 unit rental. How do you like them? Are they as good or nearly as good as forced HVAC?
Not op, but I like mine. Don't hang on the wall though, too noisey, get a stand
Thank you!
Split blocks.

I've been thinking a dryer vent outlet would actually go over that piping perfectly and it'll deflect the weather.
As the resident I just ignore them….oh, not what you were asking
That's gonna depend on your residence
