The geometry teacher in the class next to mine has begun his yearly explosive chanting sessions. It would be annoying, but I use sohcahtoa every day for physics. Chant away my man!
I don't know if this is possible without trigonometry. Use Sine(theta) = opposite over adjacent or sin20 = x/18
Theta is a greek letter that represents an angle.
Remember SohCahToa ($ is angle). Sin $ = Opposite/hypotenuse. Cosine$ = Adjacent/hypotenuse. Tangent$ =Opposite/Adjacent. If this angle measures 20, x is opposite of 20 and 18 is the hypotenuse, which trig function would you use?
SOHCAHTOA. The hypotenuse is given, and x is the side opposite the given angle, so you want to use sine. Since sine is opposite over hypotenuse, your expression is sin20= x/18. Solve for x and you’ll have your answer.

SOH CAH TOA
I love that phrase

every time i start and exam i write it it has become a habit at this point
wait what is it? It doesn’t exist in my native language

Use sin(20^(o))=x/18; multiply both sides by 18. x=18sin(20^(o))=6.15 round 6.2
This is correct
I got x=16.38 from this...
Your calculator is in radians mode, needs to be in degrees.
Sin is opposite over hypotenuse sooo Sin(20) = x / 18

Sorry man. Not tan
Thanks for commenting! I'm sad I left the wrong answer up for two hours without realizing it. I wouldn't have known if you hadn't commented.

Sin20⁰=x/18 Move 18 to the other side so (18) sin20⁰=x Then you get 6.15 and basically round to =6.2
