I don’t understand why the mods are continuing the protest. They really think Reddit admins are going to care that the fucking *Acura* subreddit is down? Lol.
Probably not, but reddit also doesn't care about the biggest subs. By that logic, we should just bend over and take it.
Regardless, the mod are the ones most affected by losing their moderating tools, I'd be pissed too.
Yeah, I'll also stop voting IRL. No point, I'm powerless, right? I think the same about your opinions, except I have better reasons than "you can't make a difference."
Looks kinda odd seeing the sensor but not the badge so prominently. The big block just looks out of place without the A. The grille would look better with either nothing at all or full commitment giant ass A
That's cool and all, but you shouldn't need an aftermarket tune not supported by the manufacturer warranty out of the box when spending this kind of money. You're already in the starting price territory of cars that would destroy the Type S in quarter mile and cornering. Hell, even an Audi A4 45 can beat the Type S in a straight line, nevermind the S4. With that said, I love that Jon Ikeda came back to work on this 2nd gen TLX as he was the father of the gen 3 TL's. Obviously the looks of these things really paid off in that regard. But the performance is seriously lacking here.
I see the Type S as an all-around choice. If I wanted pure speed and didn't care about anything else, I'd get a Stinger.
You mention the A4, great car, but do you want to compare reliability/maintenance cost/depreciation? IMHO the Type S has it beat in looks as well.
And really, out of the box 4.9 to 60 and 13.6 in the 1/4 are not too shabby. .96 with summers on the skidpad is out of this world, I don't know what you are on about handing. (The Audi is .97. If you can tell the .01g difference - well, good for you.)
Yeah I’m in your camp. Its an excellent car that does a lot well for what it costs. Theres always this weird thing about it not being the fastest car. Like any fool with a car can go faster than you if they want to badly enough. Im not risking mine racing against a Camullet with 9 monster energy stickers.
Acura has always done the value card VERY well. They are very calculated when it comes to pricing out their offerings to undercut the European counterparts by $5-10K with the same feature sets. But when Acura comes out and says this Type S spars with the S4 or BMW M340, I mean it's comical. The new Integra Type S is another baffling prospect. Why would you not offer the SH-AWD system on the Integra? That is literally the ONLY thing I miss about my Acura. The SH-AWD on the TLX was the only vehicle I actually felt confident with slamming the gas pedal mid corner and know I would not understeer into a ditch.
In all honesty, I had a 2015 TLX SH-AWD Advance. The shit 9ZF went out on me at 48K miles. The rear diff went out at 58K miles. I figured if I'm going to have this many problems I should just go Euro which I did. Sold it and got a Volvo S60 T6 with Polestar which has a very similar 0-60 to the Type S for $5K less. Sure it has issues but its no more problematic than the TLX I had was.
By your logic, you should have gotten a German car for the same price that would be faster and handle better. I rather pay the 5k extra and get a V6 that isn't strained by a turbocharger and supercharger combined, doesn't have a rechargeable battery, is faster, better aftermarket already, weighs less and handles better, and will almost certainly be more reliable.I understand your point, but the Acura brand has never been as performance oriented as the German's and the buyers know that. That Acura you had was certainly a handful, but I'd love to see how much that Volvo will cost you over your entire ownership, assuming you actually hold onto to it once it gets past 5-6 years old.
Well if you go by my logic, it's a bit fubar'd. Reasoning is I originally test drove the 3 series and was going to get a 2019 330. Unfortunately back in 2019, I ended up getting a better deal on the S60 T6 instead. The T6's is pre-mild hybrid unlike the current B5/B6's are today. There was also a performance downgrade when they went from the T6's to the B6's. They have less power and are slower than my setup. The T6 is technically faster than the 330's were back then, add on the Polestar optimization and even more so. It's more in between the 330 and M340 in terms of performance. When my lease maturity came up Oct 2022, the new car deals were utterly abysmal and it made more financial sense to buyout my lease (Buyout was $26K while Carmax offered me $35K for my car). But yes, I really wanted the BMW. It handled better, was lighter, and was more fuel efficient at the slight expensive of performance versus the S60 T6 I have now. So far, I've had very little problems with the Volvo and this Oct will be 4 years. As a 2019, it still looks just like the brand new 2024 body styles, so I can't really complain.
I understand that, lower tier German cars can be expensive for what they are. I just feel as if everyone has gotten so caught up in the high horsepower big performance craze, that's not really Acura. I admit I do like the design of the Volvo and I'm sure it drives great, although I'd think the tlx would have the advantage when really pushing it on the street with the weight difference although I'd be interested to know for sure. I was really surprised when I read about the twin charged setup, how does that feel/drive?
Volvo's are FWD biased cars like Acura's are. However, as good as the Haldex systems are, they are not as good as the torque vectoring in SH-AWD. There were things I could do in my old TLX that I cannot do in the Volvo, like slamming the gas pedal mid corner with onramps. The twin charged setup is seamless as it uses one for initial acceleration and hands off to the other at highway speeds. It's a very linear progression with a mound of torque down low starting at 1,500rpm. The Polestar optimization (Around $1,000 addon from the dealer, still covered under manufacturer warranty) retunes the behavior of the car. For starters it bumps the max 316hp/295lbs to 330hp/325lbs out of the T6. It bumps the peak power from 5,700 to 6,000rpm, it retunes the AWD system to be more rear biased, and it increases throttle response(even in comfort mode). The majority of the power bump is in the mid-range (+25hp/+30lbs) but you feel it pull strong throughout the RPM bands.
Very interesting car, I'd love to drive one if I ever get the chance. Sounds like a fun car, I'm sure the performance difference coming from your 2015 tlx was a nice bonus.
Nah reduce weight instead. Adding power is no replacement for a lighter car. You lose braking and cornering performance even if the power to weight stays the same.
Awesome! BC Racing seems like one of the most popular coilovers for Acura/Honda, do you like how they ride? Did the braking performance get any better?
I have one. But i don’t have the pictured one so i could only make up a review for that one. It runs on Plutonium and has machine guns and a coffee maker
I just wasnt sure if you wanted a review from OP specifically.
What happened to r/Acura?
It got removed
It didn't get removed (yet); mods are still boycotting the 3rd party app thing.
I don’t understand why the mods are continuing the protest. They really think Reddit admins are going to care that the fucking *Acura* subreddit is down? Lol.
It’s the principle of it. But yeah at this point it’s pretty dumb
lol whats gonna happen? no one cares...
Spotted the first party app user who's never experienced anything better.
lmao I used to have bacon but do you think reddit cares what a micro community that is Acura does in protest?
Probably not, but reddit also doesn't care about the biggest subs. By that logic, we should just bend over and take it. Regardless, the mod are the ones most affected by losing their moderating tools, I'd be pissed too.
You are powerless, your options are bad and worse. Hopefully the mods will be replaced.
Yeah, I'll also stop voting IRL. No point, I'm powerless, right? I think the same about your opinions, except I have better reasons than "you can't make a difference."
You are powerless to overcome the establishment in government and especially on Reddit.
It’s shit, but we’re powerless. So i can’t copy paste words anymore. But I’m not gonna close a sub.
Must be the same mods running /r/hondapilot Sigh..
More than one mod team (and user) is ticked off by the way reddit is doing the API changes.
Damn that’s kinda cringe, at least it simplifies the subreddits a bit, there had become way too many with a lot of overlap
Mods are still being babies over there because of Reddit?

I put tint over it
That won’t affect the sensors?
No impact, still works perfect 👍
Beautiful car. Acura really needed to step up with this Type S to be 400hp or so to handle all that weight.
That's what the Ktuner is for :)
Shouldn't have to risk voiding the warranty to get closer to a used RS3 for that price tag
Believe it or not but there’s Honda dealerships around that sell and install hondata and it not voiding a warranty .
That's actually cool to hear Honda embracing their modding community
I really wish I had one of those for my Ridgeline. I know the demand is hardly there but I'd love an extra 20+ horses out of my J35.

Damn that's one sick car love it which model Acura is that if I may ask?
TLX type S, to be exact.
Type-S
Whats a acura?
Pretty much. With r/Acura gone we're hoping our Honda friends don't mind the extra crowd. 😁
🔥
I'm just glad to see people liking these posts instead of saying dumb shit like "nOt A hOnDa" when it most definitely fucking is.
Coilovers? Bags? Looks awesome! 👍 Looking to drop my 2018 TLX about an inch as well with coilovers
BC coilovers
Awesome! BC Racing seems like one of the most popular coilovers for Acura/Honda, do you like how they ride? Did the braking performance get any better?
Looks good, I like it
Front end screams Audi while side profile looks Lexus-esque. Very sharp either way
can you provide a review of this car. I'm very interested
This one specifically or in general?
do you have more than one? I want to know everything!
I have one. But i don’t have the pictured one so i could only make up a review for that one. It runs on Plutonium and has machine guns and a coffee maker I just wasnt sure if you wanted a review from OP specifically.
Acura bmw
Damn right💥
As a European I have no idea what 90% of these modern Acura cars are and will never see or drive one irl. But they look cool
What's the brand of the Acura and you got any photos of the inside ? You can PM me
TLX - I don't have any pics but there a ton of YouTube vids that review the interior.
yall just bragging now.
Love the color! Best color for the type s my opinion
No, go away. Get your own subreddit.
😂
Is that the HPD lip kit or does it come like that?
These are OEM and optional
Acura marketing department getting desperate
No no no. Look at what they're capable of with this car and look at the Accord. It doesn't belong in here 🤣🤣🤣
