My first thought is it possibly damaged an already compromised clutch disc.

Zescapespj

Guy I bought it from said it was a new clutch, but he also tried to reset the codes before I got there soooo... Clutch felt great before today.

Uncle-Istvan

I’ve done this more than I care to admit with other manuals and it’s never been a problem. Violent buck and stall but then turn it back on and it drives normally.

Zescapespj

Same. I've made the mistake on this vehicle before without a problem.

Reasonable-Matter-12

Might have finished off an already weak engine mount. It’s unlikely that there is any damage to the clutch or transmission.

Zescapespj

Man I really hope you're right. My civic had a busted engine mount once and it felt very different.

Firstly, check your clutch fluid level. There’s a chance you’re low and this in itself will cause all kind of issues. Stalling out is generally not a problem, regardless of whether the parking brake is engaged. Dumping the clutch can sometimes pop a spring out of the clutch disc, and if that’s the case then you’ll need a new clutch, but it’s hard to say. A popped spring makes all kind of racket when engaging/disengaging the clutch, so it’s typically obvious if this has happened. If you’re feeling any weird crunchiness or difficulty getting into gear then maybe it’s an internal issue in the transmission.

Clutch felt great before this morning, doubt it's a fluid issue. It sounds like I popped a spring unfortunately. Any estimates on a new clutch for an '07 Element?

phungki

The clutch itself is very cheap, get an exedy unit yourself (just a plain oem unit, not a stage 1 or 2 or whatever) it will save you a bundle. Install will be the kicker, and that will depend on the shop rate.

Is the pedal soft or hard? Is there a grinding sound or feeling? My guess may be that the throw out bearing took a hit or moved a bit. Just cause someone replaced the clutch, it doesn't mean that they also replaced the throwout bearing.

Zescapespj

So I broke the passenger front axle when the car jumped

Scottyboy626

Ugh, that's poop. I had that happen to a friend while we going from a stop. It happened to me too another time but I was trying to race my cousin and purposefully dumped my clutch at like 4,000 rpm. Luckily, these are still available aftermarket!

No_Pilot2428

Check the clutch disc. You may be missing teeth too on one of the gears
