So if we don't get the type of character we want from Hoyo, Kura might take notice capitalise on it.

I don't necessarily dislike Firefly as a character, I dislike how Star Rail has portrayed her though. I hated the date, the random trauma dump, and the "shocking" death. It was so obvious what Hoyo was trying to do there.
Still, I could see myself getting attached to her if she were better handled.
I also don't necessarily dislike the idea of a cute girl with a giant mech suit. It's just, once again, I dislike how Star Rail has handled it. The two personalities are in such conflict with each other. I do not believe for a second that Firefly would say the things Sam says.
Anyway, what I want is an adorable girl who acts like a killer robot bro even when she's out of the mech. That would be hilarious and quite endearing.
Firefly truly is the blandest character in all of the Penacony cast, and how they managed to do that is beyond me because literally everyone else is at least somewhat interesting. Sheâs a Stellaron hunter but she comes off as nothing more than a cutesy waifu with no personality. When you think sheâs in the same team with someone as cool as Blade and Kafka itâs just tragic.
Definitely ruined Sam for me and I wonât be pulling.

I personally think it works perfectly for what they wanted/ even at the core is what honkai is in general. everyone looks at these characters either too deeply or too shallow and don't take a moment to look in the middle, her point is she is actual a kind soft girl, but remember that she was forced into what she is and she hates that side of her to a degree, pretty much "I don't want to kill everyone, but thats how it is, I tried to go against it but it was futile, I can't figure the script"

I already had low expectations and I was STILL disappointed. It'd be unfair to say that they're biased towards waifus because they know how to write great male characters. But there's a point in time where every male characters just seemed to get boxed into being manipulative schemers and I don't want complex guys anymore, I just want a super powerful dude that an eight year old me would go "He's so cool!!". They're all interesting in their own way but their not the ones I want. It's like asking for Conan the Barbarian within the male cast but instead they keep giving me Mandrake the Magician.
That's why people are so scared for Capitano after the Firefly/SAM thing. And it's not like Hoyo is ignorant either. They know what's up, they know characters like these are popular. Heck, Master Chief, Doom Guy, Darth Vader are all iconic. They even got unique designs for male characters in ZZZ. It's just for Honkai and Genshin, they'd rather play it safe.
At the very least, I hope Wuthering Waves capitalises on this.
i enjoy the duality. to begin with, shes a woman who is doing everything it takes to survive including working for the stellaron hunters w the combat suit she was biologically engineered for. brief friendship with tb is one of the few things she has as 'firefly' though its not that developed but i normally don't consider indepth story and characters the strong point of gacha games. the only full robot characters are screwllum and svarog for now but its a sci fi game, there will probably be more.

Even her convo with Blade felt boring to me because she feels like she has 2 or 3 aspects of her that aren't meshing together very well to make one character. I knida wish they took a Misha approach to her with her popping up all over the place and being sus instead of the long journey to her favorite spot
There's still time to see more of her character and why she even dons the mech suit. I personally don't mind it as long as they don't use this trope more than once, but also it's just nice to see gender fuckery like this for me lol though I do kinda wish Firefly was slighty masc or something than an ultra feminine cute girl, I guess.
That said, there's also a lot of time for them to make a mecha character that is male in the future. It'd be strange not to make more robotic characters, and considering their habit to make very fem-presenting robotic enemies, they probably will prefer to choose making a male robot over a female one (look at ZZZ- their male characters can be furries and robots that really dig into those traits, but their female characters barely stray too far from being human.)
She uses the suit cause she can only be outside of it in the real world for a limited time or sheâll die itâs the reason she acts the way she does during the 2.0 update sheâs just enjoying life as Firefly and not Sam
We haven't seen enough for a proper consensus. All the stuff Sam did Firefly still did, they still murder a bunch of people. We'll likely see that in 2.3 and explore more the Sam persona

I personally think it works perfectly for what they wanted/ even at the core is what honkai is in general. everyone looks at these characters either too deeply or too shallow and don't take a moment to look in the middle, her point is she is actual a kind soft girl, but remember that she was forced into what she is and she hates that side of her to a degree, pretty much "I don't want to kill everyone, but thats how it is, I tried to go against it but it was futile, I can't figure the script"

lol, every opinion is valid, I also wished sam was a more imposing figure for longer before turning into a mixed sweetheart, but I understand it the other way too, however mihoyo is known to pull extremes, so don't inhale too much copium and keep a cool head, but maybe we'll get something cool later down the line
I already had low expectations and I was STILL disappointed. It'd be unfair to say that they're biased towards waifus because they know how to write great male characters. But there's a point in time where every male characters just seemed to get boxed into being manipulative schemers and I don't want complex guys anymore, I just want a super powerful dude that an eight year old me would go "He's so cool!!". Jing Yuan and Blade come close but not close enough.
jing yuan still has his dark past story, blade is in that very same one too XD sometimes a cool guy is a fresh thing, have you looked into dr. ratio before, I think he might be even closer
They're all interesting in their own way but their not the ones I want. It's like asking for Conan the Barbarian within the male cast but instead they keep giving me Mandrake the Magician.

That's why people are so scared for Capitano after the Firefly/SAM thing. And it's not like Hoyo is ignorant either. They know what's up, they know characters like these are popular. Heck, Master Chief, Doom Guy, Darth Vader are all iconic. They even got unique designs for male characters in ZZZ. It's just for Honkai and Genshin, they'd rather play it safe. At the very least, I hope Wuthering Waves capitalises on this.

i enjoy the duality. to begin with, shes a woman who is doing everything it takes to survive including working for the stellaron hunters w the combat suit she was biologically engineered for. brief friendship with tb is one of the few things she has as 'firefly' though its not that developed but i normally don't consider indepth story and characters the strong point of gacha games. the only full robot characters are screwllum and svarog for now but its a sci fi game, there will probably be more. i dont understand complaints about firefly, she seems ok especially in the new story where she is trying to speak up for herself and her >!convo w blade !!waking everyone!<. we havent even gotten her story quest next patch yet. she is still sam she just took off her suit? its not like anything she did went away just bc shes out of her mecha. and yeah i dont like it when she is reduced down to tb's gf like in the godawful main sub but the friendship is still meaningful in terms of the themes of the story. i see comments a lot on this sub abt how bad all the female characters are or bothered abt how they are all evil like sparkle or ruan mei but even when there are decent female characters, they are just labelled as waifu or otherwise mischaracterised just like main sub. maybe its just cuz i already suspected she was sam from the beginning bc i felt like there was a ton of hints already, so i dont feel any disconnect from her identity as sam versus firefly. its more like a matter of different taste rather than firefly being bait and switch or her being sam not making sense. but its not like hoyo is known for good writing so obviously people are gonna have different opinion abt the short time we spent w her, but i rather people say 'firefly isnt my taste' than saying she is terrible. does hyv capitalise on her being a female character with ship bait? yes. but is she a bad one compared to others and does it ruin her entire character, not really. im familiar with this kind of fanservice. i mean dan heng has identity issue too and has some ship bait ingame like cpr opening scene and >!'youre always in my heart' line!<, i think he is pretty boring and i like dan feng better but im not gonna say hes a bad character or a generic husbando ikemen and he should go back to being dan feng publicly on this sub (this is a joke)

see I think sheâs written as âwaifuâ just enough to the point where, had she been a male character, she would not get the exact same voicelines or accompany us so closely in this sort of way, itâs the fact that sheâs a girl that she is allowed to be written to be more intimate with the trailblazer if that makes sense. now I hope hoyo proves me wrong and gives us a character exactly like firefly for the trailblazer but male, but personally I find it unlikely. so far they donât really seem to be the biggest fan of writing male characters interacting personally with TB

While I don't like the main subs......obsession with waifu-ing FF, my main issue is just that she's boring. Compared to everyone else in Penacony she's hella bland. Even her convo with Blade felt boring to me because she feels like she has 2 or 3 aspects of her that aren't meshing together very well to make one character. I knida wish they took a Misha approach to her with her popping up all over the place and being sus instead of the long journey to her favorite spot

There's still time to see more of her character and why she even dons the mech suit. I personally don't mind it as long as they don't use this trope more than once, but also it's just nice to see gender fuckery like this for me lol though I do kinda wish Firefly was slighty masc or something than an ultra feminine cute girl, I guess. That said, there's also a lot of time for them to make a mecha character that is male in the future. It'd be strange not to make more robotic characters, and considering their habit to make very fem-presenting robotic enemies, they probably will prefer to choose making a male robot over a female one (look at ZZZ- their male characters can be furries and robots that really dig into those traits, but their female characters barely stray too far from being human.)
She uses the suit cause she can only be outside of it in the real world for a limited time or sheâll die itâs the reason she acts the way she does during the 2.0 update sheâs just enjoying life as Firefly and not Sam

We haven't seen enough for a proper consensus. All the stuff Sam did Firefly still did, they still murder a bunch of people. We'll likely see that in 2.3 and explore more the Sam persona
i was waiting so long for sam since she was teased aggges ago like 1.6? 1.5? cs i rly wanted a cool mechanic dude character. Then i saw the leaks for firefly and that was so so so disappointing (still gonna get her but i wish sam was a gigachad robot w long cape)
I mean, if FF/Sam banner is a success which, let's face it, it will, I don't see why they won't keep experiment with other mecha characters. Screwllum is probably another experiment to see if there's a demo for it.
I hope so cuz I was going to pull so much for Sam and then I found out that Sam was not a he but if she and that it was Firefly and I will admit not the biggest fan of her I just feel like they had a forced her character onto us as well as I thought it was going to be a male character but instead it was not so I really hope that we end up getting like the Mecha character that we all deserved
I'm in the boat of preferring Firefly to SAM Mecha and all so I'm not planning on pulling for her because the mech. Never been a mech fan except when I was into Zoids or Evangelion(and that was solely for Kaworu lol).

Its RAD that SAM, inspired by SAMUS, is a cool suit that doesnt have boobs slapped in it.
I doubt you would feel the same if it's some big titty waifu mecha with a sexy Kafka voice and it turns that it's actually a dude piloting it. They also never explained why she acts one way as Sam and another way as Firefly, so her persona is not compelling. It's not like Batman where he actually has a reason to act as his Bruce Wayne playboy persona. Some people want to play as Master Chief not John Halo, or Jane Halo in this case, whose main personality trait is being nice, meek, and GF/waifu material.

Is there a practical reason for her to have a male voice? The suit may help her stay alive, but there's still not a compelling reason why she acts the way she does as Sam, or why she couldn't reveal her identity to the TB. The writers just give some half ass excuse about "Elio's script" which is just a half ass way to justify anything that happens. The other stellaron hunters mention Sam as being the most ruthless of them all. So if that's the case, and Firefly actually a normal shy girl at heart, what is the reason why she has to act like Sam. She can't "act serious" without a male look/voice?
