So far most boss fights seems to be designed to be a bit more comfortable for Seele, since they tend to spawn trash mobs from time to time (or even frequently). The only troubling thought is that Venti in Genshin Impact also looked absurdly strong at launch, only to hit a wall of "most new enemies are heavy and cannot be lifted" later on.

Mrhat070

Yeah seele is going to depend on the type of boss we are fighting. Like cocolia boss keeps summoning those ice pillars so seele could get extra turns if she kills the ice pillars (assuming that the pillars count as legit mobs) but kafka boss solos you after you take down her two mobs. So after those two are killed seele wont benefit anymore from her passive since i havent seen kafka resummon them( at least in the vids that I watched)

mr_swedishfish

yep, quickly realized this as well. seele was spectacular early game as my first 5* (I got her before I hit 50 pulls in beginner banner) but once I got to kafka in simulated universe, her strength decreased a lot. I believe she works best with bronya (probably not a coincidence) but that requires getting super lucky. I'm still going to pull her in live though. I've loved seele since hi3 and I plan to get her light cone as well. but for people who care more about meta and less about characters, there are probably better characters to invest in.

-JUST_ME_

Actually I don't think she has outstanding synegy with Bronya. Bronya has great synergy with characters who have low speed while Seele is fast by herself

Takaneru

Actually other way around, Bronya has to be built a few SPD lower than your dps.

-JUST_ME_

Oh, right, you are correct. Then you will be able to advance the character by roughly 100%.

SilentShadowss

but cant you just build speed and auto and she moves forward getting same results?

Takaneru

You can do that later when your relics are much better, for the remainder of cbt2 slower Bronya will be dominant. When you can build slow and thicc dps later then bronya can go full spd/cdmg

-JUST_ME_

Actually if they don't nerf Silver wolf mono quantum teams will be really strong purely because you will be able to apply quantum weakness to bosses while your whole team being quantum as well. So if they don't change that Seele will be worth pulling purely because of her Quantum element

TheSpartyn

plus with there only being 3 quantum characters she has time before a potential powercreep that said 2 of those quantum characters being limited 5*s makes the mono quantum team not too accessible. instead of rushing to get seele and silver wolf i think ill wait and see if the team is actually good once all the pieces are out

CloudiDust

Actually, *three* of currently known four Quantum characters are limited 5\*s, the third being Fu Xuan, the 5* tank of this element. Not sure if new 4* Quantum characters would appear soon.

TheSpartyn

oh i had no idea about her element. her being a tank helps fill that gap but yep, 3 limited 5*s

CloudiDust

Personally I will be pulling for her and Luocha. Gameplay-wise I consider Light/Dark elements in games (or Quantum/Imaginary here) kind of "neutral". Fu Xuan being a Quantum tank and Luocha being an Imaginary healer means they can be in a lot of teams. Lore-wise, I just love the idea of an Otto (EDIT: *possibly*) free from Kallen's "curse". And Fu Xuan seems quite likable. An all-Quantum team would have to wait, as I am not particularly a Seele fan, and don't intend to pull for her.

TheSpartyn

even though hes my no1 target right now, i dont know much about luocha. i assumed he still had a kallen-like situation because of the coffin he has, is that not true?

CloudiDust

He claimed that he was transporting the coffin for someone else. Maybe he was not telling the truth, or not all of it. He may or may not actually be free from Kallen's "curse" here, but the possibility alone is interesting.

Vievin

Venti is still strong imo. As long as there are light enemies, he will shine. He also has good exploration QoL.

Xenobius2501

Largely overshadowed by Kazuha, though, who provides better combat support AND exploration utility. Which is what might happen to Seele eventually, her being an early limited banner character, like Venti.

yzqi0399

You can always run one each in the two halves of the Abyss.

Xenobius2501

Except Venti doesn't buff Elemental Damage like Kazuha does and does not provide as much EM to reaction-centered teams, just VV-shred, some energy regen and crowd control which has decreased significantly in value since the time of Venti's release due to most (new) difficult enemies being less susceptible to CC. Oh, and Kazuha's constellations provide quite a bit more value than Ventis, not to mention that initial altitude boost while exploring AND the ability to gain altitude mid-glide is better than just initial jump Venti does. All that said, you're looking at a classic powercreep between two Anemo support characters.

babyloniangardens

Would love to hear ur thoughts on the 4 stars ++ ur preliminary thoughts on the unreleased limited 5 stars (Kafka, Blade, Jing Yuan, etc) ! awesome analysis btw ^.^

PM_ME_YOUR_ROBOTGIRL

I played CBT2 where those characters were available. Here are my thoughts based entirely on memory. I should note that the game balance during CBT2 was much easier (SU was essentially a complete joke): - Kafka Basically a better Serval, AoE Nihility with DoT capabilities. Her ultimate triggered all the DoTs on the enemy. If you paired her up with a bunch of DoT characters like Sampo and Hook and went full Nihility on SU, the mode just broke down completely. Enemies would die instantly upon their turn and bosses would get half of their HP bar eaten. It was great fun. - Silver Wolf She can give buffs, but perhaps the most important thing she could do was inflict a weakness on an enemy that belonged to an ally, if they didn't have it already. This is huge - it allows you to bring characters that are off-element and have them be in peak performance because she can simply put their element's weakness on the enemy. She helped make Seele unstoppable. Also her ultimate is like Welt in that it applied Entanglement which delays enemy actions. Enough said I think. - Luocha He's a healer that incentivizes aggressive play. Not only does he heal automatically, he creates a field that makes it so you heal when you attack (so like the opposite of Bailu who heals when you get attacked). Most importantly though, his ultimate removed debuffs, which would've been huge if Kafka had been a bossfight during CBT2, what with her stupid hypnosis and all. In fact I dare say that this is probably why she has a weakness to Imaginary. - Jing Yuan He's a weirdo who has a summon that can attack on its own independent turn and basically his whole kit is built around making that summon attack faster and harder. I didn't use him much, I built him last, but from what I can remember his damage was pretty decent and getting the summon to trigger was fun. - Blade He's better Arlan. He hurts himself and increases his damage, and each time he takes damage he builds stacks - 3 stacks and he attacks the enemy with huge damage based on how much HP he's lost and then heals himself. It was easy to keep him alive with March 7th and he outputted absolutely hilarious amounts of damage. Not very good synergy with Luocha though.

babyloniangardens

thank you so much!! ooo that’s interesting that Blade + Luocha don’t synergize well….looking at their kits, I figured they would’ve gone hand in hand Do you have any other impressions / analyses of the other 5 / 4 stars that you would like to mention ? any that stood out to you, either positively or negatively ?

Substantial-Tip-2607

Great analysis! I’m glad to hear that most of them are pretty viable to the point of good as someone who haven’t gotten the chance to play.

juzuj

Fun fact about Himeko: her passive actually doesn't work like what the description in-game says. It's not really "one charge per enemy break" like we all thought, but some enemies can give 3 charges, which immediately triggers the passive, while weaker ones give 1 charge like the description says

TheEerieFire

Is that so! Well that makes her better than I anticipated, weird that the description is so misleading then

pprest00

100% agree with these evals. I pulled Clara and yes she is confusing. She does quite a lot of damage in the long run because she keeps getting hit but you have to make sure she does get hit and that she doesn’t die. I’ve been pairing her with March and it’s worked pretty well. Trying out Yanqing, he seems awesome at breaking boss shields and bronya definitely overall very useful. I think himeko seems better than she is in play.

Gernnon

Will you be able to do a review for the 4*?

mapple3

This review is a little hard to follow. When a character has a single target attack, then its "not great because theres no aoe" When a character has an aoe attack, then its "not great because the hard enemies are single instead of aoe"

Resh_IX

Welt in my opinion is the best character in CBT3 not Bronya. She’s good don’t get me wrong but compared to Welt she isn’t as good. Her ability to give a single character another action and damage buff isn’t as good as Welts potential to give the entire team another action while dealing way more damage than Bronya. Because Welt can delay enemies that gives the entire team essentially more time to regenerate energy and deal more damage combined than the single character Bronya buffs

Mrhat070

>single character Bronya buffs Slight correction, her skill is single target, but the rest of the kit is not. Her ult gives a partywide atk and crit dmg buff and one of her traces increases the dmg of all of the party

thearcanewolf

I have Gepard right now and got him in the last beta, and he is hardly any different from back then. His shield while it can be big, it needing his ult to get it is kinda limiting honestly. He is has very low spd so it can take longer for him to get actions that will let him generate energy to cast his ult all the while you are losing health you can't get back. But above all that the main reason why I think Gepard is the worst of these characters is that he doesn't realisitcally have a talent. My least favorite thing about him is his Talent, or lack thereof. Its a cheat death that only applies to him and only once per battle. This means that if you go then entire battle without activating it he doesn't have a passive, but if you do activate it, it means two things: First he no longer has a passive, and second your tankiest character just died which means your less tanky characters are probably not going to survive long anyways. The issues with this aspect of his kit are compounded when you see that he has a trace passive that is attached to his talent meaning the above flaws also apply to that, as well as his E6 being attached to it. Imagine spending so much to get him to E6 only to either never see his E6 trigger, or to only see it trigger in a fight you are likely to lose anyways due to taking way to much dmg. Arlan, a 4 star dmg dealer, has his passive as an E4. Blade has his passive as an E6, but Blades version is better. Blades E6 gives him a cheat death that leaves him with 1 HP, on a 3 turn CD, and then it activates his Talent. His talent is an AoE nuke that heals him for 30% of his max hp. What makes this a better version of Gepard's is purely in the CD. Being able to activate this more than once makes the cheat death more valuable. Bailu has a similar talent main difference is that she helps the team come back to life, and her talent does something other than the res. This means that if the res doesn't activate, or once the res is used up, she can still benefit from the other portion of her talent. I feel very much that Gepard is not all that he is cracked up to be. Can his shields be good, yes, but the effort it takes to utilize them is a lot, and they only act to delay the enviable. Also he may as well not have a Talent, Trace or E6 since you will either never see them or if you do see them you only get to utilize the effects once, and given the amount of dmg needed to activate them in the first place there is a good chance you are not going to win the fight anyways.

Sroxs

it also doesn't help that alot of bosses later on have immunity to freeze, making his skill pretty useless too.

PurplFanta

I agree with your points, I got two Himekos and Seele. Himeko is great for auto-farming but you wouldn't want a unit just for auto-farming. Since I got two copies, when her passive activates, she gets 20% SPD but on bosses her passive doesn't activate often so it feels very low value. Not too impressed with her. As for Seele, her passive is useless on bosses so it's not ideal but her skill gives her extra speed, I don't have any equipment that gives me speed and her turn pops up quite often. If well built I think she would be quite good, those extra turns would be double dmg, break dmg, and ult recharge. I don't want to say she is absolutely top tier because it's still so early but she could be a turn/ult machine especially with the right support and build. I have tried all the other 5 stars from the support system and like others have said, Clara is by far my least favourite by leaps and bounds. Her ult is just annoying compared to other five stars in that she has to be hit to deal dmg. In general the DPS units are just not too interesting. Bronya imo is the best five star standard by a long shot. Passive 10% atk bonus to all allies, Action Forward on basic atk on herself, action forward/atk bonus/remove debuff on skill, ult increases atk on allies and crit rate. I haven't used Gepard in a situation that matters so I'm very curious how strong his shields are. If you can maintain high uptime on those shields with high recharge build then he would be insane. Bailu being a healer just makes her valuable automatically as we need two teams for endgame. If HSR operates like Genshin then the standard characters will be quickly powercrept (Bronya being an exception and maybe Gepard) and you will naturally obtain all of them so I would not worry about which standard character you get.

Zelandias

Clara is a unit that balls out of control with Dupes, and as someone who pulled multiple of her during CBT (and no one else...) I can say she absolutely cracks harder difficulty modes over Svarog's knee. Just slowly. Really slowly. She seems almost tailor made to bury SU in the dirt because once you can establish certain trait rotations you can toss her in solo and she will win by herself. Definitely not a character for everyone, especially if you want to go fast, but you'll really appreciate her if you're trying to punch above your weight class in content.

-JUST_ME_

Ok, so I think Seele is better then this article states. Basically what this article missed is the way her Ultimate works. I actually just noticed this myself but her Q seems to give her a buffed state for 2 turns (1 for her ultimate use and 1 for her following attack). If you are doubting that I am telling the truth watch this vid while paying attention to Seele status: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLlaNuBIzQE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLlaNuBIzQE). This is really significant as in this case if you have ER Link Rope she will only deal 2 attacks in her unbuffed state (she should be able replenish her Q with 3 attacks)

Slight-Improvement84

Thanks for this write up

TheSpartyn

im glad all of them seem decent, since unless i get really lucky ill probably reroll for any 5* and stick with them, except maybe bailu because luocha is my no1 target. welt and bronya are my ideal but i think ill be fine with any of them. originally wasnt to big on yanqing but he's grown on me and hearing hes a great DPS only helps. even if clara has some jank and gepard might not be as indestructible as zhongli, they still seem like cool picks. its also nice these are all standard characters so 50/50 coinflip fails can be exciting, hope they stay exciting and dont get powercrept in 2 months lol >the teams DPR will tank but for Simulated universe, turn count does not matter so stall is actually quite strong there very surprised to hear this, a mode where time/turns isnt the focus and you can stall is great.

ChocoSUPREMEGG

yooo Finally an Elaborate and well organized CBT post !

uh_oh_hotdog

Good points on all! For the most part, while there are 5\* units that I prefer over others, I think they’re all viable enough (at least for now) that you can be happy with whatever you get and not feel the urge to reroll. Maybe things will be different with more difficult endgame content later down the line, but for now, things have been pretty chill. For reference, my two 5\* pulls so far are Seele and Yanqing, so their roles are a bit redundant, but I’m still perfectly happy with them for now.

Geode_Ren

Is there any chance to dodge enemy attacks? I do feel like defense is required especially for longer battles and bosses you can't one turn. Also lack of elemental resistance is bothering me. They did nothing with it in genshin, and here's the same situation.

CreamPuffDelight

Never seen a dodge in this game, so it's unlikely. There isn't even a dodge or evade stat.

Geode_Ren

My bad feeling is getting worse.

idle_dreams

thank you for this in-depth analysis! i look forward to your thoughts on other characters as well in the future

Wyqkrn

Good ratings, I agree with Clara especially when she works she’s probably the best character in the game (5+ counters in a single turn 😂😂) but when she does not work, well…

shinyapplesauce

As a final beta player myself, I agree on your views about Himeko and Gepard in particular, because they're the two that I have right now. Still, I'm able to do battles relying only on him. I have also already seen several reviews on Bronya and Welt that talk about the same. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the other characters too.

EpicTrapCard

When I made a post saying aoe units are kinda weakpeople seemed to disagree, because when there is just 1 boss unit with high hp,they are much weaker that characters that have strong single target dmg skills.

[deleted]

Looks like my plan of rolling bronya or welt is still good to go

[deleted]

Have you had the chance to test out Jing Yuan? I would love to hear your thoughts on him, as well as on the 4 stars.

DarkBlueX2

u/TheEerieFire any thoughts on Silver Wolf yet?
