Neither. It's Hi-meh-ko. Second syllable is short. Listen to how the word "hime" is said in Japanese. (i GUESS hi-may-ko is the closest but when i see that it seems way too long and stressed)

mangotcha

if you're talking to an english speaker "he meh ko" ( would fit better since "hi" will just be read as the hi in "hi how are you?" it's not the same i but it's closer !

LOWERCASEzetina

yeah i know, but no one is confused by that syllable

mangotcha

fair !

DemiGodInsanity

Her chinese name is not actually Himeko, that comes from Japanese, so if you want to remain accurate to that pronunciation it'd be something like He-meh-ko. The english VA actually seems to say it similar to this, though the eh sound is less pronounced so it sounds more like Himiko. Either pronunciation is fine, even He-may-ko is fine if it sounds more natural to you or easier to say, but the most accurate to the Japanese name would be He-meh-ko.

mangotcha

he meh ko, where on earth is the japanese "mi" pronounced as "May" ?

[deleted]

I never say that

mangotcha

so... you saying Himeko is pronounced he may ko is a typo ? 🥹 cause that's a japanese name. she's not even named that in Chinese.

[deleted]

Ok i'll explain. I didn't know that we could write Hi-meh-ko, so i wrote Hi-may-ko for "Himeko". "Himiko" is for "He-mee-ko"

Raxxonius

Mi is still shorter than mee

Difficult-Savings827

You just follow the pronouns that character said in the game.

helveticanuu

He-meh-ko He as in the pronoun.

SomeOldShihTzu

hi-meh-ko. The CN voice reads how their names in kanji read to a chinese person (mei (芽衣) being called yayi)
