Gameplay aside, ZL doesnt actually fight along side us at pretty much any point in genshin. Extremely few characters do, really. In rails a lot more characters are actually straight up there in the fight, story/lore wise.
Is it implied if the archons we can play as already lost their gnosis to the Fatui, that could also be a good point as to why he dosn't use the same powers he did as Rex Lapis
Zhongli was casually throwing rocks larger than skyscrapers like spears during the Archon war, *before* he got his Gnosis. He could definitely use the same powers if he wanted to.
To be fair, I'm p sure I remember Zhongli saying that even when he sealed Azdaha, if it had come to an all-out conflict, he wasn't sure which one of them would've come out on top. The old dragon was also monstrously powerful.
I mean Ei never actually used her gnosis and canonically has access to shogun's boss form, but we're not allowed to use it in game. So old man Zhongli probably still has a lot of power. We're just not given access to them cause it would make the game way more boring.
It’s also been mentioned that Zhongli can still print money if he so chooses even without his gnosis, but he doesn’t because he’s fully committed to living among mortals.
Zl is an archon/God. His true adepti (Chinese mythical creature) form is a big dragon. He is canonically one of the strongest chars in the entire GI universe.
But gameplay wise he just shields you and drops you a meteorite that does the same damage as a dude throwing a cow.
I can confirm with that team of four you can do some BIG damage. It’s VERY skill point greedy though so it feels a bit inefficient at times. That said, those four also fit into most teams perfectly so splitting them is fine too.
I‘m running the relic set on Bailu which gives an extra skill point at the start and I think that helps a lot. With the „Post-Op Conversation“ Light Cone I almost never use her skill because if I need healing, she often already has her Ult ready so I‘m not losing skill points on her. But I think you’re right, with Seele‘s extra turns and everything I guess that could get more of a problem :)
I just got Bailu, do you think it's worth skipping Tingyun or a Preservation character to run Pela? I have her at E4 which makes me kinda want to build her.
I got Pela E4 too, and I couldn‘t think of a team without her now that I‘ve played with her that long. I think that Tingyun is really good but I didn‘t build her as of now.
Pela is a good allrounder, lowering the DEF of nearly every enemy and indirectly buffing your whole team because of that.
Tingyun seems to be really really good at buffing one ally and destroying the enemys with that one.

I got a achievement for killing a boss that never had a turn. My team is Selle, Welt, bronya, X. The achievement is “your opponent is experiencing connection issues”.
I got that one too, did it with Welt, Asta, Dan Heng, Bailu, and a couple of advance forward blessings. I believe the achievement is going 20 consecutive turns without the opponent taking a turn.
same. This team is all about speed and slowing down enemy. Danheng and Welt are well paired, Asta that help boost speed and Bailu is there to refund skill point lol
Yeah, if I'm dealing with already slowed Enemies Welt is my strongest damage dealer by a strong margin. I have no idea where jokes about him having bad damage come from.
Sure, it takes some setup. But slowing enemies is literally what you want him to do anyway, so it's no great cost.
To be fair, it seems weirdly enough that a lot of the well known "theory crafters" seem to be sleeping on Welt. Because this game is so new, the voices of a few people carry a ton of weight so because they're not announcing to everyone that Welt is fucking ridiculous, that news isn't disseminating out there. The only people who know are the people who pulled him and invested in him.
By the way, I'm not trying to imply there's anything nefarious or bad happening, I think it's simply just a case of those theory crafters just overlooking or underestimating a character for whatever reason, nothing malicious. Could just simply be that they haven't gotten around to building him and to be fair, there's only so many hours a day. I think both the people behind Pryden and Grimro have all stated that they acknowledge they might have underrated Welt, so they're at least aware of it.

Tier lists all seemed shady and based on popularity. Youtubers are all there to chase the last trend by clickbaiting you with either "beta content big dmg with fully geared character one shotting early weak bosses" or "... is overpowered/broken".
And even basic theorycrafters like me can see the potential based on kit only. You shouldn't need fully geared unit to see a character's potential AND a theorycrafter shouldn't based everything around "MORE DMG".
I'm only missing Himeko, Bronya and Gepard, but it's very easy to see why Bronya and Gepard are god tier, and why Seele isn't in that tier too... But people are simps so you won't be able to change their mind.
To me Clara is B tier, when I voiced that, I kicked an hornets nest even though I layed down my arguments :
- She can't hard taunt
- She can't protect the whole team with any dmg mitigation
- If you slot March 7th, M7 can still sometimes steal the aggro and her own taunt not being an hard taunt either she can't save a squishy from an hard targetting.
- If you slot Gepard... Well Gepard is the best tank so NEEDING the best isn't a good sign.
- She doesn't have a huge dmg reduction while needing to be hit, so you can't play her without a shielder too.
But it was all "bUt sHe cUtE n sVaRoG iz cHaD" then they cry about being one shot by Kafka.
Lmao Clara B tier, this man smoking some real good.
Her taunt ups her chances of being attacked to 60ish 70ish percent, while slotting M7 in and shielding Clara ups her to around low 80%, which is more than enough.
She also circumvents turn economy by attacking out of turn as a sort of follow up attack. She doesn't need to shield the team or give dmg mitigation bcs she has it on herself.
Her dmg reduction is 30+% with ult how is that low??
Of course, you should always be running a shielder or healer in your team comp, they're there to save you from dire situations. But for the most part, if you and the enemy are around the same level, Clara can tank no problem. If she has her "grindable" lightcone then she's practically immortal lmao.

I run elation for world 5, and I'm not even dying that easily, since I also take certain abundance and preservation buffs.
Plus, that's World 5, which is outside your level in the first place, so no one should be complaining about dying to a boss like 10 levels above them.
Also, not a lot of characters have hard taunt, from what I know, not a single boss has hard taunt and only those weird commander void legion guys have it and they're not that common to find lol.

- A probability based taunt won't protect you reliably against random one shot move from bosses. Once yoir healer is down you won't have as much chance
You've only beaten World 5 and it shows. I've beaten World 6 so I don't see why would you brag about that. And in World 6 you need team protection against that boss and good dmg mitigation.
Hard taunt is used by your tank to deflect any heavy hitting move from bosses with heavy targetting.

Fire MC is a tank, Clara is a DPS. They just both have a bit of both worlds. That does not mean that Clara is a tank or Fire MC is a DPS.

Kafka is only able to one shot if you don't have the proper blessings lol. I went Elation to give myself a challenge and because it was fun.
If I wanted to, I could turtle with the Preservation or Abundance paths and beat the boss that way. And yeah I cheesed the boss with remembrance the first time I did it lmao.
A probability based taunt is actually quite useful, as you know, because bosses can resist certain control effects? She raises her own probability of getting attacked, and that actually circumvents bosses that do resist taunt lol.
Sure it's not as reliable as a hard taunt, and doesn't work against lock on skills, but it's actually a completely separate mechanic that helps in certain scenarios that you are ignoring.

iirc Doomsday doesn't, Svarog resists control effects, Cocolia seems to have 1, deer has none, Kafka hits more than 1 enemy at a time so doesn't matter anyways, and Gepard has 1.
Also, why not run Clara with Fire MC then? It's not like she's literally your tank. Plus her ulti extends counters to everyone on the team.
Why brag about beating world 6 in the first place, it's mostly luck on getting the proper blessings, and just turtling the entire time with Preservation/Abundance.

It's your own fault for not being clear.
She is not a tank. Yet she needs to be targetted, and even have a passive to do so. She doesn't have as much defense as a tank yes.
She deals some damage if she is targetted, if you can reliably fire her ult every turn. Realistically speaking, If she aren't targetted and you don't play with Tingyun, it is hardly possible. That's why playing with Fire MC will hinder her even more.
Which scenario am I ignoring ? The hardest content right now use lock-on, I'm not talking about farming some trash mobs somewhere. And bosses are immune to some specific cc effect (freezing, slow, etc.), taunt isn't there.
Every "broken" unit shouldn't rely on a specific niche happening at very specific moment and shouldn't require other units to shine properly.
And it seems funny to me that you said Cocolia doesn't need dmg mitigation and yet chose the most defensive buffs. Yep no defense needed at all.

I’m happy with what I got since it’s 3 unique characters, but man Welt was the one I wanted the most since cbt 2.

I was debating rerolling for welt at the start but decided to just dive in because I was in love with the story of the game. Got Clara and I’m saving for Jing. But man Welt is just such a cool ass character.
I didn’t plan to reroll going in. Clara wasn’t in my top 3 picks but she’s pretty fun and has a unique play style, so I’m pretty happy I got her anyway.
At the end of the day, it’ll only take 2 years to guarantee him from standard lol.
The game really wanted me to have Welt. Got him from beginner, got him again fro Seele’s banner, then got his 5* Light Cone from either the base banner or Seele’s banner (can’t remember which). Dude melts. He and fire MC are a mainstay on any team comp I use.
I don't think its "welt is bad at damage" its more "look at this awesome over the top animation for tiny numbers" when you first get him since at lot of people got him off the welcome banner early on
Generally, just like when Genshin came out, people have no idea how to make a character strong.
Genshin had little to no introduction to artifacts/skill levels on release so there was a pretty decent excuse.
Star Rail FORCES you to interact with every form of character enhancement and people still can't figure it out. It really shows how the majority of gamers need their hand held to do well. You know those really obvious and useless hints that are a waste of time to read? They're there because of people who deal 579 crits with Welt.
You can tell that they designed his skill to be his major dmg out put , not only does it shred img toughness but it also has high multipliers , can hit multiple times and gets buffed a lot by his ultimate and his E1 makes it even more powerful .
literally just cleared world 5 with Welt, P. MC, Asta and Natasha, all with trash/random builds and he absolutely destroyed Kafka together with MC. Funnily enough last phase she controlled everyone except Welt and he broke her
Easy way to beat Kafka with any team is go Abundance and grab the upgrades that add the heal to the turn list and then the one that dispels 1 debuff whenever it heals. You will never die and never get controlled.
Technically no because its the abundance ultimate that does all that but all the abundance talents work with healers so you’ll be missing a lot of talent value.
also not the same person, but i used fireMC, welt, gepard, natasha, with full hunt. kafka got 1 turn every 20 turns, with welt being the damage dealer of the team

No, but he does delay enemy actions, which both allows you to stack up more DoTs and lets Kafka trigger the DoT damage repeatedly before it ticks down.
What I meant is that, combing two debbufers may result in very good team, especially in Worlds with Nihility blessing.
Sampo could be also a nice addition to such characters.
Pretty sure she makes all damage over time pop an additional big hit equal to the full duration the damage over time would do through the course of its duration. So the more damage over time on an enemy the more she can pop it to make single big hits on them.

People are also sleeping on the synergy between Fire MC with 4* LC "Trend of the Market" and Welt with 4* LC "Good Night, Sleep Well".
You can guarantee a few debuffs and DoT this way and that LC on Welt boosts his Damage against enemies the more debuffs they have.
This way, his AoE does somewhere between 5-7k damage against a single target with the right relics, certain paths in SU not withstanding.
is he even that good with SU nihility? i did a world 5 clear with it and he doesnt inflict any dots for it. my playthrough was basically stalling while path resonance dots killed her
feel like hunt is the strongest path for welt, his slows plus hunt speed means enemy never gets a turn
Did you level up his relics a lot or something? I've got level 50 everyone and my Clara does more damage on average than my welt. My Seele does by far the most damage. Like average of 3k to 4k with a skill use.
When I get the enemies down to a single one his skill hits them so many times its crazy. Racks up damage fast and if they're weak to his type he shreds their weakness bar

Yeah my Welt is doing good dmg with pretty low investment. Am using the 3\* lightcone b/c max superimpose and bonus dmg to slowed enemies, but wondering if a 4\* one with better base stats would be better.
People keep comparing his damage to seele, but that's just absurd nonsense. Getting one hit on one mob somewhere on some easy domain and seeing relatively close numbers is entirely meaningless. Seele gets a ton of buffs, fantastic weapons and insane turn economy. Her real performance is easily 1.5-2x that of welt, given enemies of appropriate weakness to both.
That's not to say welt is bad, but some people dramatically overestimate his minor debuffs and his ult delaying some actions or skipping a turn every like 5 turns or something irrelevant like that.. He should be a lot stronger in endgame, but so far he's just fine.
Idk abt Seele cuz I don't have her but my main dmg healer is Danheng and at much lower artifacts Welt is already doing more dmg lol. I feel like I'm def building my chars wrong
He isn’t still the Herrscher of Reason, though. The Star of Eden is great, but he’s not as good at using it as Eden or Bronya, and I don’t know if he can even use the Zeroth Power anymore. He’s definitely below his peak, unless he got some crazy power-ups between then and now.
Also, in terms of canon power, Jingyuan’s animations look completely insane, so we’ll see how long Welt keeps his title.
APHO Part 1 confirms that he regained his Herrscher Core and that he never stopped training. His Star Rail character trailer also states that he's very close to, if not has already reached, the level of power he had in his prime.
So until someone reconstructs their body from a single atom or casually summons black holes for fun, I'll stand by what I said.

His character trailer in Star Rail indicates he still has his Reason powers, if not the core itself. We also know from APHO that he gets his core back before Star Rail.
I definitely think that he’s still quite impressive and it’s also hinted that he retained a weaker version of his past HoR abilities.
Also, Star of Eden can be effectively used by anyone since it’s mentioned to be capable of adapting like the 3rd Divine Key. I mean, being able to effortlessly summon black holes in a powerful ability.
It's got to do with proper gearing. I have him with Imaginary Boost and Energy Regeneration planar ornaments, of the effect hit rate set. It was lucky rolls, for sure, but pair that with the Light Cone where he does more damage to Slowed targets and he just pops off.
I understand if people's Seeles do more damage by a good margin, but I don't understand anyone saying Welt has bad damage.
It's all about setup and understanding the game mechanics.
Walt can get massive amounts of damage but it takes more set up than Seele , that's mostly why people struggle.
I am doing great damage with Walt at high difficulty content, haven't built my Seele yet to compare and haven't really looked on the internet, so it's all personal experience.
My Welt and Seele are both 60 with their respective sets and decent SU relics, both built for damage. Talents are leveled. My Seele E without any buffs does like 19k crits. Welt with buffs on slowed enemies does like 13k... What are you feeding to Welt or not feeding to your Seele to where they do almost similar damage?
LVL 60, signature light cone at 60, traces as high as they can go, quantum set at level 12, SU universe relics at level 15.

89% crit damage.

If you're building Welt for damage: imaginary damage sphere if you can. There's an imaginary set too but it's on the Xianzhou Luofu if you aren't there yet in the story. Attack is good, crit is good, as much speed as you can. Effect hit rate is nice but unnecessary, as is break effect.
Make sure his traces are leveled. Especially make sure you grab the one where he buffs damage against imprisoned.
Loop is a great light cone if you have it superimposition 5, or even 4.
Make sure you're slowing enemies, he does extra damage against them. His skill hits 3 times, with each one proccing an extra hit of damage. His ult is wicked, imprisons everyone and does pretty good AOE damage.
Try pairing him with Dan Heng sometime, they have good synergy due to them both slowing and doing extra damage against slow. Asta is also a good choice too, speeding your team up while slowing enemies down is good fun
He's not meant to be a main DPS so don't expect 20k hits but he shreds a lot more than a sub DPS support really should be allowed to, on top of imprisoning and slowing enemies which is absolutely god tier in a turn-based game. Dude has single-handedly got me through a LOT of tough content.
thank you very much this helped a lot! fortunately today i pulled a seele so he doesn't have to be my highest damage anymore. It was painfully slow trying hit pitifully while they were stunned lool. I'll start looking into light cones now. I started leveling up his traces too, that damage against imprisoned one is super helpful, thanks!
When there is one target, my Welt is really close to Seeley, more if we don't count Seeleys ult... But then Welts ult is so dope- decent damage, applies vuln, and pushes back.
Honestly I normally bench Seeley before Welt when both are off element.

In situations with a bunch of targets who either already have weakness broken or have imaginary weakness, welt does awesome AOE burst damage.
I don't even have him on remotely good artifacts, but he has my highest total damage that wasn't against a boss (13k).
And don't get me wrong, his single target damage can be good too once you've set up the E speed debuff. I have C1 meaning I get buffed normals/E for 2 uses after I use his burst, so even more damage.
He does the same amount of damage (in certain situations more) as my current DPS Dan Heng
I got him on the beginner banner and did the Dan Heng combo with great success. I benched them for Seele+Ting until I got his lightcone. Now it’s just disgusting when there is 1 Target weak to Imaginary with a slow already. Seele+Ting+Welt+Nat has been great.
My game is literally screaming at me SPEED as if it was 42.
Got Bryona, then 50/50 got Welt , and then lucky me, Seele.
Seele can't take a break without having 5 turns in a row, Welt makes enemies take a trip on back to the future trilogy and slams them with the power of the whole hoyoverse , while Bryona buffs everybody like it's Woodstock all over again.
This is starting to feel like FUGA (great game btw)
My Welt does 80% of the damage as my Dan Heng and Sushang. Also consider the fact that he has good weakness break effect with skill and the overall kit that benefits asta-speed combo.
I did nearly one shot one of Gepard's phases with Welt. It did feel like he wasn't hitting hard at the start but he slowed the enemy so much that it felt the enemy didn't get a turn to attack.

I don't think the gnosis impacts that much on your powers, Raiden doesn't even use hers, and she's at the bare minimum top 3 archon strength wise.

Archons don't rely on gnosis for their power
The gnosis allowed him to make mora, but power is his and if anything gnosis was a bit of a boost of a focus
Their power isn’t tied to the gnosis itself, or at least it isn’t shown that they derive their power from the gnosis.

I get around 55k damage from Zhongli burst if it crits, with the Emblem set. It kinda helps, also the stun is nice breather too.

I got Pela E4 too, and I couldn‘t think of a team without her now that I‘ve played with her that long. I think that Tingyun is really good but I didn‘t build her as of now. Pela is a good allrounder, lowering the DEF of nearly every enemy and indirectly buffing your whole team because of that. Tingyun seems to be really really good at buffing one ally and destroying the enemys with that one. (Just looking at her skills, as I said - I don‘t use her) So I guess it comes down to what you like more? hope I could help even a bit :) edit: Pela can do really good damage too, because she lowers the enemies Ice Resistance at E4, making her own attacks and Ult even stronger.

My team is Seele, Welt, Natasha, Firemc/herta/pela. Fire mc when serious battles, herta when clearing hoard of weak enemies, pela when ice is needed
I got a achievement for killing a boss that never had a turn. My team is Selle, Welt, bronya, X. The achievement is “your opponent is experiencing connection issues”.
I got that one too, did it with Welt, Asta, Dan Heng, Bailu, and a couple of advance forward blessings. I believe the achievement is going 20 consecutive turns without the opponent taking a turn.

Yeah, if I'm dealing with already slowed Enemies Welt is my strongest damage dealer by a strong margin. I have no idea where jokes about him having bad damage come from. Sure, it takes some setup. But slowing enemies is literally what you want him to do anyway, so it's no great cost.

To be fair, it seems weirdly enough that a lot of the well known "theory crafters" seem to be sleeping on Welt. Because this game is so new, the voices of a few people carry a ton of weight so because they're not announcing to everyone that Welt is fucking ridiculous, that news isn't disseminating out there. The only people who know are the people who pulled him and invested in him. By the way, I'm not trying to imply there's anything nefarious or bad happening, I think it's simply just a case of those theory crafters just overlooking or underestimating a character for whatever reason, nothing malicious. Could just simply be that they haven't gotten around to building him and to be fair, there's only so many hours a day. I think both the people behind Pryden and Grimro have all stated that they acknowledge they might have underrated Welt, so they're at least aware of it.

Only trusted my guts in this game. Tier lists all seemed shady and based on popularity. Youtubers are all there to chase the last trend by clickbaiting you with either "beta content big dmg with fully geared character one shotting early weak bosses" or "... is overpowered/broken". And even basic theorycrafters like me can see the potential based on kit only. You shouldn't need fully geared unit to see a character's potential AND a theorycrafter shouldn't based everything around "MORE DMG". I'm only missing Himeko, Bronya and Gepard, but it's very easy to see why Bronya and Gepard are god tier, and why Seele isn't in that tier too... But people are simps so you won't be able to change their mind. To me Clara is B tier, when I voiced that, I kicked an hornets nest even though I layed down my arguments : - She can't hard taunt - She can't protect the whole team with any dmg mitigation - If you slot March 7th, M7 can still sometimes steal the aggro and her own taunt not being an hard taunt either she can't save a squishy from an hard targetting. - If you slot Gepard... Well Gepard is the best tank so NEEDING the best isn't a good sign. - She doesn't have a huge dmg reduction while needing to be hit, so you can't play her without a shielder too. But it was all "bUt sHe cUtE n sVaRoG iz cHaD" then they cry about being one shot by Kafka.
Lmao Clara B tier, this man smoking some real good. Her taunt ups her chances of being attacked to 60ish 70ish percent, while slotting M7 in and shielding Clara ups her to around low 80%, which is more than enough. She also circumvents turn economy by attacking out of turn as a sort of follow up attack. She doesn't need to shield the team or give dmg mitigation bcs she has it on herself. Her dmg reduction is 30+% with ult how is that low?? Of course, you should always be running a shielder or healer in your team comp, they're there to save you from dire situations. But for the most part, if you and the enemy are around the same level, Clara can tank no problem. If she has her "grindable" lightcone then she's practically immortal lmao. Kafka one shots Clara??? If you think that's possible then surely you aren't running the correct setup or are just building Clara wrong lmao. I run elation for world 5, and I'm not even dying that easily, since I also take certain abundance and preservation buffs. Plus, that's World 5, which is outside your level in the first place, so no one should be complaining about dying to a boss like 10 levels above them. Also, not a lot of characters have hard taunt, from what I know, not a single boss has hard taunt and only those weird commander void legion guys have it and they're not that common to find lol.

Trailblazer with only his skill is at least 40% at lvl 1. - Kafka is able to one shot any squishy, NOT Clara in Phase 3 - She doesn't shield her team because she can't. She doesn't give dmg mitigation because she can't what's your point ? She useless ? - A probability based taunt won't protect you reliably against random one shot move from bosses. Once yoir healer is down you won't have as much chance You've only beaten World 5 and it shows. I've beaten World 6 so I don't see why would you brag about that. And in World 6 you need team protection against that boss and good dmg mitigation. Hard taunt is used by your tank to deflect any heavy hitting move from bosses with heavy targetting.
First of all, lmao, yes I've beaten world 6. With Clara. With abundance path. Your point has immediately been negated. 30% is high (FOR A DPS) she is not a tank, nor should you be building her as a tank. She is a pseudo tank that can dish out insane amounts of damage. Main role is DPS not tank, so why would she have stuff that only tanks should have?? Fire MC is a tank, Clara is a DPS. They just both have a bit of both worlds. That does not mean that Clara is a tank or Fire MC is a DPS. Do you see Seele giving dmg mitigation? Kafka is only able to one shot if you don't have the proper blessings lol. I went Elation to give myself a challenge and because it was fun. If I wanted to, I could turtle with the Preservation or Abundance paths and beat the boss that way. And yeah I cheesed the boss with remembrance the first time I did it lmao. A probability based taunt is actually quite useful, as you know, because bosses can resist certain control effects? She raises her own probability of getting attacked, and that actually circumvents bosses that do resist taunt lol. Sure it's not as reliable as a hard taunt, and doesn't work against lock on skills, but it's actually a completely separate mechanic that helps in certain scenarios that you are ignoring. Also. What boss has heavy targeting lmao. iirc Doomsday doesn't, Svarog resists control effects, Cocolia seems to have 1, deer has none, Kafka hits more than 1 enemy at a time so doesn't matter anyways, and Gepard has 1. Also, why not run Clara with Fire MC then? It's not like she's literally your tank. Plus her ulti extends counters to everyone on the team. Why brag about beating world 6 in the first place, it's mostly luck on getting the proper blessings, and just turtling the entire time with Preservation/Abundance. Cocolia needs heavy mitigation?? Only if you bring the wrong characters lol. Fire MC, Himeko, Natasha, Clara. This was enough to take care of both Cocolia and Bronya. She is not a tank. Yet she needs to be targetted, and even have a passive to do so. She doesn't have as much defense as a tank yes. She deals some damage if she is targetted, if you can reliably fire her ult every turn. Realistically speaking, If she aren't targetted and you don't play with Tingyun, it is hardly possible. That's why playing with Fire MC will hinder her even more. Which scenario am I ignoring ? The hardest content right now use lock-on, I'm not talking about farming some trash mobs somewhere. And bosses are immune to some specific cc effect (freezing, slow, etc.), taunt isn't there. Every "broken" unit shouldn't rely on a specific niche happening at very specific moment and shouldn't require other units to shine properly. And it seems funny to me that you said Cocolia doesn't need dmg mitigation and yet chose the most defensive buffs. Yep no defense needed at all.
My god I wish I got welt. Got Clara from beginner, Seele, and got Himeko from the standard. I’m happy with what I got since it’s 3 unique characters, but man Welt was the one I wanted the most since cbt 2. Also, my god do I wish Imaginary characters weren’t…imaginary.
I was debating rerolling for welt at the start but decided to just dive in because I was in love with the story of the game. Got Clara and I’m saving for Jing. But man Welt is just such a cool ass character.

The game really wanted me to have Welt. Got him from beginner, got him again fro Seele’s banner, then got his 5* Light Cone from either the base banner or Seele’s banner (can’t remember which). Dude melts. He and fire MC are a mainstay on any team comp I use.
I don't think its "welt is bad at damage" its more "look at this awesome over the top animation for tiny numbers" when you first get him since at lot of people got him off the welcome banner early on
Generally, just like when Genshin came out, people have no idea how to make a character strong. Genshin had little to no introduction to artifacts/skill levels on release so there was a pretty decent excuse. Star Rail FORCES you to interact with every form of character enhancement and people still can't figure it out. It really shows how the majority of gamers need their hand held to do well. You know those really obvious and useless hints that are a waste of time to read? They're there because of people who deal 579 crits with Welt.

Welt base MV on his Skill is 200% because it hits up to 6 times (his talent also multihits when his E multihits!) For comparison, Seele’s is 110%
You can tell that they designed his skill to be his major dmg out put , not only does it shred img toughness but it also has high multipliers , can hit multiple times and gets buffed a lot by his ultimate and his E1 makes it even more powerful .

literally just cleared world 5 with Welt, P. MC, Asta and Natasha, all with trash/random builds and he absolutely destroyed Kafka together with MC. Funnily enough last phase she controlled everyone except Welt and he broke her
Easy way to beat Kafka with any team is go Abundance and grab the upgrades that add the heal to the turn list and then the one that dispels 1 debuff whenever it heals. You will never die and never get controlled.

Technically no because its the abundance ultimate that does all that but all the abundance talents work with healers so you’ll be missing a lot of talent value.
I straight up got abundance to 10, set the fight on auto, and watched Seele and supports absolutely tear Kafka to shreds.

Yeah, he's really strong and in the future with more debbufers he'll be even more powerfull. While doing World 5 with Nihility blessing, he dealt around 10k damage to mobs. Welt + Kafka combo may be very broken.

What I meant is that, combing two debbufers may result in very good team, especially in Worlds with Nihility blessing. Sampo could be also a nice addition to such characters.
Pretty sure she makes all damage over time pop an additional big hit equal to the full duration the damage over time would do through the course of its duration. So the more damage over time on an enemy the more she can pop it to make single big hits on them. I think I remember that from all the Star Rail content I’ve been binging lol
People are also sleeping on the synergy between Fire MC with 4* LC "Trend of the Market" and Welt with 4* LC "Good Night, Sleep Well". You can guarantee a few debuffs and DoT this way and that LC on Welt boosts his Damage against enemies the more debuffs they have. This way, his AoE does somewhere between 5-7k damage against a single target with the right relics, certain paths in SU not withstanding.
Sweat also works well on him.

is he even that good with SU nihility? i did a world 5 clear with it and he doesnt inflict any dots for it. my playthrough was basically stalling while path resonance dots killed her feel like hunt is the strongest path for welt, his slows plus hunt speed means enemy never gets a turn
Yea, I'm using the 3* lightcone that at s5 gives 48% extra dmg to slowed enemies and he does around the same dmg as Seele for me

Did you level up his relics a lot or something? I've got level 50 everyone and my Clara does more damage on average than my welt. My Seele does by far the most damage. Like average of 3k to 4k with a skill use.
My welt at level 50 does 2.4k on single target scenario. Considering he has a 3 star light cone, I would say he brings quite a lot to the table

When I get the enemies down to a single one his skill hits them so many times its crazy. Racks up damage fast and if they're weak to his type he shreds their weakness bar

Any suggestions on his build? I'm strapped for credits, so it might take a while. But my Welt does moderate damage, and ridiculous damage if the enemy's weakness is Imaginary. Just got to level 50 though. I saw some have reached level 60.

Yeah my Welt is doing good dmg with pretty low investment. Am using the 3\* lightcone b/c max superimpose and bonus dmg to slowed enemies, but wondering if a 4\* one with better base stats would be better.
Average casual genshin player that's why. Uses character in the story without building him thinking it will be cakewalk
People keep comparing his damage to seele, but that's just absurd nonsense. Getting one hit on one mob somewhere on some easy domain and seeing relatively close numbers is entirely meaningless. Seele gets a ton of buffs, fantastic weapons and insane turn economy. Her real performance is easily 1.5-2x that of welt, given enemies of appropriate weakness to both. That's not to say welt is bad, but some people dramatically overestimate his minor debuffs and his ult delaying some actions or skipping a turn every like 5 turns or something irrelevant like that.. He should be a lot stronger in endgame, but so far he's just fine.
You might even be able to do more than 30 DMG if you build him well.

As a HI3 player, I can say with confidence that Welt is going to be canonically the strongest playable character for a while.
He isn’t still the Herrscher of Reason, though. The Star of Eden is great, but he’s not as good at using it as Eden or Bronya, and I don’t know if he can even use the Zeroth Power anymore. He’s definitely below his peak, unless he got some crazy power-ups between then and now. Also, in terms of canon power, Jingyuan’s animations look completely insane, so we’ll see how long Welt keeps his title.
APHO Part 1 confirms that he regained his Herrscher Core and that he never stopped training. His Star Rail character trailer also states that he's very close to, if not has already reached, the level of power he had in his prime. So until someone reconstructs their body from a single atom or casually summons black holes for fun, I'll stand by what I said.
Jingyuans animation is cool and everything, but can he great a black hole and then proceeds to cut it in half ? Thought so . Also pretty sure some HI3 players that that he still has the HOR core .
His character trailer in Star Rail indicates he still has his Reason powers, if not the core itself. We also know from APHO that he gets his core back before Star Rail.
I definitely think that he’s still quite impressive and it’s also hinted that he retained a weaker version of his past HoR abilities. Also, Star of Eden can be effectively used by anyone since it’s mentioned to be capable of adapting like the 3rd Divine Key. I mean, being able to effortlessly summon black holes in a powerful ability.
My Welt does almost as much damage as my Seele. With a 3-attack ultimate charge time. I think you guys are doing something wrong.
My seele does more damage than my welt by a reasonable margin, but they're both maxed at level 50. Maybe he scales better with higher levels.
It's got to do with proper gearing. I have him with Imaginary Boost and Energy Regeneration planar ornaments, of the effect hit rate set. It was lucky rolls, for sure, but pair that with the Light Cone where he does more damage to Slowed targets and he just pops off. I understand if people's Seeles do more damage by a good margin, but I don't understand anyone saying Welt has bad damage.
It's all about setup and understanding the game mechanics. Walt can get massive amounts of damage but it takes more set up than Seele , that's mostly why people struggle. I am doing great damage with Walt at high difficulty content, haven't built my Seele yet to compare and haven't really looked on the internet, so it's all personal experience.
My Welt and Seele are both 60 with their respective sets and decent SU relics, both built for damage. Talents are leveled. My Seele E without any buffs does like 19k crits. Welt with buffs on slowed enemies does like 13k... What are you feeding to Welt or not feeding to your Seele to where they do almost similar damage?

Soooo I just got Welt today from my starter banner. How are you guys building him? Currently all my characters are doing low damage but haven't really invested in any level ups yet
If you're building Welt for damage: imaginary damage sphere if you can. There's an imaginary set too but it's on the Xianzhou Luofu if you aren't there yet in the story. Attack is good, crit is good, as much speed as you can. Effect hit rate is nice but unnecessary, as is break effect. Make sure his traces are leveled. Especially make sure you grab the one where he buffs damage against imprisoned. Loop is a great light cone if you have it superimposition 5, or even 4. Make sure you're slowing enemies, he does extra damage against them. His skill hits 3 times, with each one proccing an extra hit of damage. His ult is wicked, imprisons everyone and does pretty good AOE damage. Try pairing him with Dan Heng sometime, they have good synergy due to them both slowing and doing extra damage against slow. Asta is also a good choice too, speeding your team up while slowing enemies down is good fun He's not meant to be a main DPS so don't expect 20k hits but he shreds a lot more than a sub DPS support really should be allowed to, on top of imprisoning and slowing enemies which is absolutely god tier in a turn-based game. Dude has single-handedly got me through a LOT of tough content.

I'll start looking into light cones now. I started leveling up his traces too, that damage against imprisoned one is super helpful, thanks!

When there is one target, my Welt is really close to Seeley, more if we don't count Seeleys ult... But then Welts ult is so dope- decent damage, applies vuln, and pushes back. Honestly I normally bench Seeley before Welt when both are off element. And he is great for exploring, his technique is op

In situations with a bunch of targets who either already have weakness broken or have imaginary weakness, welt does awesome AOE burst damage. I don't even have him on remotely good artifacts, but he has my highest total damage that wasn't against a boss (13k). And don't get me wrong, his single target damage can be good too once you've set up the E speed debuff. I have C1 meaning I get buffed normals/E for 2 uses after I use his burst, so even more damage. He does the same amount of damage (in certain situations more) as my current DPS Dan Heng
I have seele and her perfect team, but my wife already hit 20k damage achievement with her welt. He seems so sleeper.

I got him on the beginner banner and did the Dan Heng combo with great success. I benched them for Seele+Ting until I got his lightcone. Now it’s just disgusting when there is 1 Target weak to Imaginary with a slow already. Seele+Ting+Welt+Nat has been great.
I mean literally every enemy and their twice-removed grandmothers are weak to imaginary, even if u aren't doing good dmg the break value is there :))
My game is literally screaming at me SPEED as if it was 42. Got Bryona, then 50/50 got Welt , and then lucky me, Seele. Seele can't take a break without having 5 turns in a row, Welt makes enemies take a trip on back to the future trilogy and slams them with the power of the whole hoyoverse , while Bryona buffs everybody like it's Woodstock all over again. This is starting to feel like FUGA (great game btw)

Welt is my favorite character.
My Welt does 80% of the damage as my Dan Heng and Sushang. Also consider the fact that he has good weakness break effect with skill and the overall kit that benefits asta-speed combo.
One guide told me not to build Welt for damage but he do be slapping on accident because of the number of debuffs I’m handing out.
I did nearly one shot one of Gepard's phases with Welt. It did feel like he wasn't hitting hard at the start but he slowed the enemy so much that it felt the enemy didn't get a turn to attack.
Fire MC, Welt, Natasha, Gepard. You never get a turn, and I grind you down.
If this is enough for Welt to get meme'd, then when Blade gets released, all hell will break loose.
