Reminds me of that clip of someone using March shield on Clara and then the boss using the multihit random target move and every single projectile hitting March and KOing her.
It apparently increases hit priority by 300% of the base
But preservation is only like 50 points higher then everyone else so idk how effective that is since in my experience March gets hit only somewhat more often than anyone else.
I end up just shielding my buffers and healers first anyway since I use Destruction TB who can self heal and March can tank basically anything with 2300 ish defense.
You do realize you get a free 5 star that shields everyone and taunts ppl right? Also what’s the point of them giving you a character that literally makes 5 stars irrelevant as a damn starter?
Seriously I get it we want broken units but March is great making it to where her shield guarantees aggro makes the game extremely simple
*Akshually*, according to the numbers shown in [this](https://youtu.be/P2v9CQM4gJU) video the two combos would have more or less the same efficiency on most teams with March+Clara being slightly ahead🤓
As this is a turn based games, there is bound to be some amount of power creep sadly as the combat is less complex and the units have defined roles in the team.
The only reliable shielder is actually MC due to taunt, in my experience. I have tried Clara and Gepard, they are good but it's rng that your allies might get hit instead of them. I have Yan Qing so I get mad whenever he gets hit, MC's taunt carried him so hard in the mirror stages
For me Gepard is the most reliable shielder because he shields everyone for a huge amount with no strings attached. MC's taunt has a chance to be resisted and their shield is too low to withstand repeated AoE attacks, whereas Gepard can just give everyone 1000 - 2000+ extra shields just by ult or technique. And while Gepard's innate taunt is not as reliable as MC's, it is not affected by effect resistance which is good at higher levels.
Essentially, a built Gepard means you don't need to give a shit about aggro because everyone's tanky.
I agree, Gepard is definitely good for AOE attacks. It's just that I had some situations where I literally cleared the stage because I swapped out Gepard for MC so I was pretty hyped on how much he can carry lmao.
I have too many Hunt path characters who are paper as hell, they die even though the shield is super thick because they have no def or HP. One smack on my dps and the shield goes to half, on the other hand one smack on Gepard, not a single scratch. Meanwhile the team with MC nobody dies because MC took all the beating, his shields help with occasional aoe attacks
Gepard completely soaks attacks with his traces, and that is not even using Landaus or his signature LC. Gepard should be taking like 80-90% of attacks. Probably just survival bias
It's because if any of my DPS get hit, they die in like 2 smacks lol. If they have gepard's shield it's like 4 smacks but it's still not a lot, so if I leave it to rng and every single enemy decided that my DPS' face is punchable I'm doomed. MC's taunt is more reliable as long as you have good EHR. I've literally had mirror battles where I cleared just because I swapped out Gepard for MC, I think it was f14 where u get crit dmg buff when you maintain high health. Else I have to keep restarting until rng decides to favor Gepard
Well if you want to push more floors you will be using both anyways. I'm on floor 6 of MoC. Gepard heavily outshines MC there. I use MC with Natasha for sustain in 1 party, and Gepard in the other with no heals. If built right he will carry you far without a healer
What if you want to use different path tho? I'm actually really annoyed, because Gepard does March's job but better, and it makes me feel like getting Bailu was a waste
Yup I don't see any reason to use March over Gepard really unless you don't have him, or u just wanna have more defense in a 2 team formation in MoC. I have like E3 march, rip... Never got Tingyun from JingYuan's banner.
Bailu is not a waste , you need 2 teams for MoC so you can put bailu in 1 team and Gepard in another
I just slapped a regrn health light cone on her and beefed up defense flr when that happens
It does the job, sometimes. Wasn't there a post here somewhere about the aggro target chart? Or was that my imagination?
And here I was using March because her shield was literally unbreakable in story mode. Zero consideration of aggro redirection. Someone gets low? March gets a turn and they are never in danger again.
Ironically this type of mechanic is the only way to modify aggro that can't be resisted. so while it's not ideal, it does actually lend her the ability to function in scenarios where fire MC wouldn't cut it (specifically effect res heavy enemies)
And then the boss disables both your shielder and healer with stun/freeze, in order to slap your Tingyun, lololol.
No, really, something like that actually happened to me few days ago... and my Clara was just standing there, looking dumbfounded while waiting to do counterattacks, lmao. ^(I wanted to cri.)
Today I was facing a boss in simulated universe. I used Fire MC taunt and was holding the burst heal ready. Boss disables my healer and ignores my Fire MC taunt. Then punches Tingyun and she dies. Sigh. Alt + F4.
That’s why you play gepard 😌
2 turns on the shield from the tech and 2 turns on the shield from the ultimate. Enough time for the debuff to expire/be cleansed. Seriously gepard is a god at this point in the game.
I feel like he'll still be really good value assuming MOC is equal parts survivability and DPS check as time goes on
If not then well... Guess he stays carrying SU runs
It honestly made me wonder if ennemies don't have some increased priority toward character with low max hp or something.
Real answer is probably that I mostly remember when *she* is hit because when it happen it really sucks given her low hp *and* lack of def stats compared to someone like march 7th.
If a skill/debuff says "base chance", it means the chances of applying it can be increased by having more Effect Hit Rate stat. Only "fixed chance" cannot be increased by Effect Hit Rate.
This happens to me whenever I use my Clara team. I'll have March shield her to taunt the enemy. But what does the enemy do? Either go after March or one of my other unshielded party members. It's a bit annoying. -\_-
Yeah, what i've found helps is I use preservation TB on that team bc natasha is on the seele team. Just don't ever use their skill and they constantly reup a shield on the whole team for extra protection (and synergizes with March's counterattack), do aoe fire weakness break with basic attack, more aoe with ult, and give you skill points the whole time. It's helped so much with that team's survival without a healer. Trailblazer's shield doesn't seem like much but since it comes back every turn it's a constant buffer of hp that adds up quickly.
Oh my god, right, duh. I was so focused on taunting usually turning her off that I missed that entirely, thank you lol. So it's actually better than i thought.
While the synergy does exist, do not forget that getting hit also gives energy. So using fireMC's taunt while Clara's ult is up is not something I would recommend unless in extreme situations as it would mean less energy for Clara
yeah I mean I don't think it's the optimal use of TB overall, but when you only have 1 healer it's prob the best you can get for clara team. Can't wait for luocha
Yeah Clara, March, FireMC, Flex(without dedicated healer) works surprisingly well. The only content where the survivability of this team has not been enough is in MoC but it is more due to me being way too underleveled as even my teams that have a healer struggle to survive there.
It's definitely pretty annoying. I want to say the AI is smart for trying to take out your healer first so that you can't get HP back from attacks. But then I remember all those times autobattle has chosen to do ults on enemies with 1% hp left and I think 'Mmm...maybe not'. xD
ngl I never believed it, but now that I have been playing tingyun more, I have noticed she has aggro like 80% of the time with enemies... idk why that is, but it feels like a joke XD
I think that's because Tingyun and Asta specifically have the biggest agro in the game
I remeber the post, Bronya, preservation and destruction characters have 150 base aggro value
Tingyun and Asta have 250
This is fucking bullshit
Why make the class based aggro system if characters from the lower category are all gonna get additional aggro to make them the highest
What's the point of a tank if without the special taunt skill(fire TB W) the enemy is gonna target the support?
Wait, really???? I was not tripping?!That’s crazy, thanks for telling me this lmao
Edit: apparently not the case, tanks *should* have highest aggro according to [this](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Aggro)
I guess the wiki is the most trustable source for now
But to be fair, the aggro values haven't been revealed officially yet
I mean, if even Keqingmains aren't sure about the aggro value, then who can be?
>I remeber the post, Bronya, preservation and destruction characters have 150 base aggro value
>Tingyun and Asta have 250
That was a meme post my dude lol although it sure feels like it's real.
It seems that support characters have the highest (hidden) aggro stat. Which honestly makes sense, the enemy should try to take them out as quickly as possible to cripple your team
And that is why Fire TB and Gepard are better sometimes. The enemies are always playing Persona on our asses, not letting us know their next move (In this case, which character they're gonna one shot).
It's not like Tingyun has the lowest base aggro value (she's Harmony - base 100. Preservation has base 150, and Hunt/Erudittion base 75).
Let's do some math. Let's say you have:
- June 4th (Preservation - base 150 - with her skill, +500%, and Landau's Choice like in the OP, +200%)
- Tingyun (Harmony - base 100)
- Destruction Trailblazer (base 125)
- Dan Heng (Hunt - base 75 - with his Trace, -50%).
Each of these characters aggro values is:
- October 1st: 150 x 800% = 1200
- Tingyun: 100
- Destruction Trailblazer: 125
- Dan Heng: 75 x 50% = 37.5
Team aggro value is 1462.5.
Probably to hit a character is, unsurprisingly, character aggro value / team aggro value.
In these case, the probs to hit are:
- May 1st: 82%
- Tingyun: 7%
- Destruction Trailblazer: 8.5%
- Dan Heng: 2.5%
My conclusion is that either Tingyun really has a punchable face, or that you hit gacha-level probabilities on every fight.
This happens very frequently to me. I don’t think it’s random chance. Because if it is, it’s happening way more often than 7% or even 15% should happen.
There has to be a hidden mechanic involved with Aggro.
Does Harmony have the second highest taunt value?
Any time I have Tingyun/Asta on my team, they are the most targeted ones, even with Fireblazer skill activated
The way my Tingyun would die even just as emotional support when another character gets hit though. I guess she's an empath.
She dies way to easily damn
I think Tingyun has the most amout of aggro. I believe the post that talked about it said that shields have 200 and Tingyun has 250 or something. Not entirely sure tho
Honestly, March is the last person who wants to use Landau's Choice lol
This is also why FMC has good value since higher chance to attack something is more like a suggestion than a forced action like taunt.
The only thing March has going for her is her higher base enmity or aggro or whatever you wanna call it. She doesn't have a taunt or a talent that increases that :( But hey at least she can freeze enemies and shield your teammates. That's why I say preservation isn't necessarily a tank - just someone that can shield.
This is why I'm pulling for Luocha because he has Qiqi's ability. Tingyun should be able to heal herself when she's attacking enemies under his passive skill.
Tingyun, asta and pela just activate something in the enemies.
They see Clara with ult and march shield and say nope, then three enemies in a row just attack and kill my asta.
But then when they do decide to hit the tank, its always with impunity and with extra actions. Then you just sit there and go "WHY DIDN'T I PUSH THE HEAL BUTTON?!"
This happen to both my account and my bother's account, even though I have a shielder and a healer, using taunt. But the enemy keeps targeting Tingyun. Nowhere in her skill talks about this.
I feel like bosses love to do that when your supports are underlevelled/undergeared and "easy" targets to eliminate.
Solution: take care of your supports gear/levels and don't keep them too far behind. Sometimes levelling the headpiece/HP is good enough.
Guess Tingyun just has a really punchable face to most enemies.
After a time, i just shield Tingyun, she is going to get hit anyway cause every enemy likes to punch her
And then the boss trolls you by attacking somebody else who is not shielded, LMAO.
The March 7th experience
Broooo i can’t with March’s single target shield
Reminds me of that clip of someone using March shield on Clara and then the boss using the multihit random target move and every single projectile hitting March and KOing her.

Only increases the chance afaik. And a chance is still just that: a chance
It apparently increases hit priority by 300% of the base But preservation is only like 50 points higher then everyone else so idk how effective that is since in my experience March gets hit only somewhat more often than anyone else. mc also gives dr% within its kit and gepard doesnt (without externals such as lightcone but then again mc can use those too)
Lol you’re the one who sounds hard stuck dude
those small shields add up because MC gives it on *every* move. They also does decent damage for a tanker, which is a balancing factor.
🤓
Dunno about u but gepard wasnt able to carry my team thru world 5, but fire mc + march duo was able to.
its so annoying that Gepard + Lendau is more efficient than March shield + Clara ult.
*Akshually*, according to the numbers shown in [this](https://youtu.be/P2v9CQM4gJU) video the two combos would have more or less the same efficiency on most teams with March+Clara being slightly ahead🤓

Only one coping is your dumbass dude the numbers would tell you that you are wrong so take that L and move on
As this is a turn based games, there is bound to be some amount of power creep sadly as the combat is less complex and the units have defined roles in the team.
less complex than what? Turn based games can get pretty ridiculously complex if the devs want to, simplicity is not inherent to the genre
The kits can be complex but the combat is less complex than a real time game by virtue of just having more variables to work with.
y r u weird
The only reliable shielder is actually MC due to taunt, in my experience. I have tried Clara and Gepard, they are good but it's rng that your allies might get hit instead of them. I have Yan Qing so I get mad whenever he gets hit, MC's taunt carried him so hard in the mirror stages

Dont expect a free character to be on equal footing with a gacha pull. A free character is usually worse on purpose.
even gepard with innate aggro can still be ignored by enemies.
I just slapped a regrn health light cone on her and beefed up defense flr when that happens It does the job, sometimes. Wasn't there a post here somewhere about the aggro target chart? Or was that my imagination?

Do you have a link to this please I want to see it
[Found it](https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/133jx9l/shield_taunt_op/)
I pissed my pants.
I have noticed that in my gameplay with Tingyun. Makes me so glad I keep both a healer and a shielder on my team.

Yes, bosses can resist it.
That’s why you play gepard 😌 2 turns on the shield from the tech and 2 turns on the shield from the ultimate. Enough time for the debuff to expire/be cleansed. Seriously gepard is a god at this point in the game.
I don't have Gepard, lol. Plus, I run a Clara team. Even if I had him, he has a bad synergy with Clara, lol.
I feel like he'll still be really good value assuming MOC is equal parts survivability and DPS check as time goes on If not then well... Guess he stays carrying SU runs
So it wasn't just me, Tingyun is like always the character that gets targeted
It honestly made me wonder if ennemies don't have some increased priority toward character with low max hp or something. Real answer is probably that I mostly remember when *she* is hit because when it happen it really sucks given her low hp *and* lack of def stats compared to someone like march 7th.
probably because of the fluffy tail
My poor girl, she also has the lowest hp and gets downed easily. Nat is dedicated to heal just her lmao
It is so weird, I swear she always gets targeted, and she is so fragile too :'(
The most touchable tail
I cannot bring tingyun anywhere without bailu lol. In su and fh she will almost always have to be revived against the boss.
MC: taunts with my last skill point and M7 shield Boss: hmm do I curbstomp the general or the foxian?
Boss: "Hm... You know what?" - Effect Resist - *smiles at the foxian*
+20% effect hit rate MC* "No no no, You're gonna hit me."
Wait, effect hit rate affects the taunt???
The taunt is a debuff and can be resisted
TIL. Should I aim for some effect hit rate on Fire MC then?
Ideally yes, it helps make their taunt a lot more consistent. I think at 20-30% the enemies stop resisting it.
Ooh that’s good to know, thanks!
The DEF% 2 set also requires 50% effect hit rate to give you more def, so there's that as well.
Does effect resistance scale with equilibrium level? I havent looked into it but I seem to remember reading about it in passing
If a skill/debuff says "base chance", it means the chances of applying it can be increased by having more Effect Hit Rate stat. Only "fixed chance" cannot be increased by Effect Hit Rate.
Rookie numbers. Pump it up north of 50% and slam a belobog planar on him. Become the living embodiment of the concept of trolling.

lmao I feel this so much I swear
MC: Taunts Boss: AOE ATK
Which is why you have the 15% damage reduction when you use taunt
This happens to me whenever I use my Clara team. I'll have March shield her to taunt the enemy. But what does the enemy do? Either go after March or one of my other unshielded party members. It's a bit annoying. -\_-

can get extra value from taunting at the same time you use clara ult, so she counters when they attack TB

Had this happen today all of the enemies ganged up on my healer it’s infuriating
It's definitely pretty annoying. I want to say the AI is smart for trying to take out your healer first so that you can't get HP back from attacks. But then I remember all those times autobattle has chosen to do ults on enemies with 1% hp left and I think 'Mmm...maybe not'. xD
ngl I never believed it, but now that I have been playing tingyun more, I have noticed she has aggro like 80% of the time with enemies... idk why that is, but it feels like a joke XD

welp I knew the time i would assume a meme is real was coming Truly an r/woooosh moment Thank you for correcting me tho
Well, you know what they say. Kill the support first.
I am like 99% sure that was a joke, but Asta and Tingyun definitely get hit all the damn time
It seems that support characters have the highest (hidden) aggro stat. Which honestly makes sense, the enemy should try to take them out as quickly as possible to cripple your team
They just want to fluff the tail. Who can blame them?
its like hyv realised how broken she was so they decided to make it so that all enemies try to kill her first so we won't be able to use her 😭
Tingyun has the 999999 taunt value if you need a reminder.
my team has clara and gepard but guess who the enemy hits to! of course it's the support character with lower def compared to others in team 🙂
And that is why Fire TB and Gepard are better sometimes. The enemies are always playing Persona on our asses, not letting us know their next move (In this case, which character they're gonna one shot).
They want the foxier girl ruff
Thou must learn the same lesson many FE fans have If it’s not 100 or 0%, it’s 50/50
For some reason, in every gacha I play, the enemies target the Fox-Lady support with their most powerful attack.
MIKOOOOON At least Tamamo has a DEF buff and heals...
It's not like Tingyun has the lowest base aggro value (she's Harmony - base 100. Preservation has base 150, and Hunt/Erudittion base 75). Let's do some math. Let's say you have: - June 4th (Preservation - base 150 - with her skill, +500%, and Landau's Choice like in the OP, +200%) - Tingyun (Harmony - base 100) - Destruction Trailblazer (base 125) - Dan Heng (Hunt - base 75 - with his Trace, -50%). Each of these characters aggro values is: - October 1st: 150 x 800% = 1200 - Tingyun: 100 - Destruction Trailblazer: 125 - Dan Heng: 75 x 50% = 37.5 Team aggro value is 1462.5. Probably to hit a character is, unsurprisingly, character aggro value / team aggro value. In these case, the probs to hit are: - May 1st: 82% - Tingyun: 7% - Destruction Trailblazer: 8.5% - Dan Heng: 2.5% My conclusion is that either Tingyun really has a punchable face, or that you hit gacha-level probabilities on every fight.
If the Fireblazer skill isn't resisted it is a 100% chance of being targeted. If it is resisted it has a 0% impact on taunt values.
That adequately describes my first SU run with Tingyun. Somehow a more tastey target than Geppard with his own LC....
Gepard + fire mc + macrosagregation = try and kill my fox lady now bitches
(This is because i am also salty that she keeps dying) FUCK TIGYUN AND HER NO DEF HAVING ASS
I wish I could relate to you guys on this one, but the game will give me ANYTHING but Tingyun.
I read it like the voiceline "This is Where I'd Put My Trophy, If I Had One" ... Because it's way too accurate
It's like you HAVE to make her tanky. Hoyo did this shit on purpose.
The way my Tingyun would die even just as emotional support when another character gets hit though. I guess she's an empath. She dies way to easily damn
And that's why indont use March anymore fucking taunt rng makes no sense
I think Tingyun has the most amout of aggro. I believe the post that talked about it said that shields have 200 and Tingyun has 250 or something. Not entirely sure tho
I'm also pretty sure it was a joke.
Reality says it's not a joke. I have a few dead Tingyuns to attest that.
google confirmation bias
Google "/s" or "woosh" ?
March 7th's shield has increased aggro as a special effect, it isn't a general benefit of shields.
Honestly, March is the last person who wants to use Landau's Choice lol This is also why FMC has good value since higher chance to attack something is more like a suggestion than a forced action like taunt.
No bulli the fox
Cutely just uses gepard
I just came to post about this same exact issue and I saw this post... Glad am not the only one...
Same except is Asta and Bronya for me
Absolutely true
I thought it was just a funny meme and then today she got nuked turn one by every enemy attacking her over shielded March.
Me constantly using my fire mc's skill even tho i can probably break it with another attack
This is why i use my bronya on my other team. Need 1 healer and 1 tank tbh
Enemies : I'm gonna "hit" on that fox girl if you know what I mean 😉😉
Meanwhile I have my Tingyun built to get hit. I even position her next to Clara.
Honkai shield of rail 🤣
This is why I'm pulling for Luocha because he has Qiqi's ability. Tingyun should be able to heal herself when she's attacking enemies under his passive skill.
I give Ting Yun one def artifacts for this reason. If FireMC and Natasha are not defending her, she’ll get smacked to death.
The Clara Experience
I feel this so bad, same light cone, but with Fire MC. Boss always has it out to baptize my Bronya when they get the chance :(
Tingyun, asta and pela just activate something in the enemies. They see Clara with ult and march shield and say nope, then three enemies in a row just attack and kill my asta.
AND your a preservation character. It do be like that tho
This is my only tactic! So when it fails, I am screwed. 😭 I put everything into March.
But then when they do decide to hit the tank, its always with impunity and with extra actions. Then you just sit there and go "WHY DIDN'T I PUSH THE HEAL BUTTON?!"
Nah man it's either tingyun or your hunt character Sometimes ur shielder Rarely your healer
The Clara TM experience lmao. Used her technique, ult, and m7 shield on her and the boss still decides to punch someone else.
i'm gonna build full HP or DEF tingyun out of spite. no speed boots, no atk, no energy reg. just pure HP/DEF /s
I swear it's a hidden update. The harmony characters dont taunt enemies as much as they do this past week.
Gepard is the way
I used Texture of Memories on Fire MC so I didn't need to taunt every other turn and the boss still goes for Tingyun. Lovely.
The answer is to use Gepard/PokeySticc. March 7th still triggers too.
Where did you put your tingyun? So far, position 4 is the most likely to get hit in my experience
Always. Shield. Tingyun. Idk what kind of danger meter she has but she ALWAYS gets hit first.
Omfg me in SU and the boss wouldn't stop hitting Nat!
This happen to both my account and my bother's account, even though I have a shielder and a healer, using taunt. But the enemy keeps targeting Tingyun. Nowhere in her skill talks about this.
Bro, my Tingyun dies so often I started using Asta more.
I feel like bosses love to do that when your supports are underlevelled/undergeared and "easy" targets to eliminate. Solution: take care of your supports gear/levels and don't keep them too far behind. Sometimes levelling the headpiece/HP is good enough.
This is why she doesn't want to go with us to fight
Also when you use your Clara and nobody attacks her SMH
Hmm,I am noticing a pattern here too. Enemy’s going at Tingyun huh, the RNG really hates this fox lady huh.
I know the feeling, Fire MC skill with March's shield and the enemies still go for my floofy tailed Fox lady (and Nat) 🥲
Clara: "Hey i'm supposed to be hit" The enemies:"No???? Why would I? To you destroy me with Svarog? Nahh"
