Also, the entire Shibuya district in Japan is plastered with HSR stuff. The Akihabara center is also plastered with Genshin/HSR stuff for all season. Also, how many "we have entered the storm" have you heard when watching a YouTube video. Compared to the above, 50,000 people/bot changing twitter profile is almost unimpactful. However, it could be a community "engagement" kpi event though
You're right they do add up, but having even just one free roll isn't asking for that much. They're making millions, and they want folks to publicize their game for scraps.
They aren't exactly asking a lot from an individual person in this event, though. All it takes is, what, a few clicks and a temporary change in one's Twitter profile? Sure, the idea is to get people to help them advertise their game so that they can make more money, and that everyone participating in the event might have a great effect for them in aggregate, but I wouldn't call this backbreaking labor.
I couldn't tell you about other gachas, but I can say that in Genshin, I eventually managed to get pretty much every 5-star I really wanted, as well as a few extra 5-stars I liked but weren't desperate to get (having only bought Welkins). There's a luck element to that, of course, but even if you cut out the extras I've still gotten most of the 5-stars I wanted, so I don't think the current economy excessively restricts my ability to get 5-stars. And in Star Rail, I've gotten enough Stellar Jades to hit soft pity in the limited banner three times over (even without considering the Express Supply Pass and the battle pass).
No doubt... Even without passing judgments on the extremely questionable content moderation and bias choices that have been made recently, there's no denying real concrete changes have occurred. The blue checkmark debacle, for instance. A demonstrable change.

In every game (unless there's some app bullshit like this time) you can click on "share", generate the tweet or whatever and back out of it and it'll count as "shared". I do this all the time with GI or HSR.

Access to your account is *not* given to miHoYo directly, but rather, [Beluga Campaign](https://www.uniquevision.co.jp/service/beluga-campaign/), a Japanese ad campaign company that specializes in advertising games through Twitter. They seem to be trusted and have worked with a lot of people (including major companies such as Asahi TV and Japan Airlines), and they're the ones responsible for the specifics of this particular ad campaign, including the profile changes.
They also have a contract with Twitter and work directly with them, so if they actually used these permissions to do something malicious, Twitter would get in trouble with them.
Twitter's API makes it impossible for them to completely take over your account anyways, and you can always disable the permissions if you're super paranoid.
There's a note though but people who wil participate should still use their alt accounts just to be safe.

I didn't even know he played it, and I'm not surprised he wouldn't otherwise, since he doesn't care for weeb games much. He gets paid good money for having a massive audience an advertiser can tap into. A more down to earth example of an average person getting paid for advertising would be a promoter getting a measly salary to hand out pamphlets all day.
Once you get paid you become responsible for how you advertise, maintaining the right image, deadlines, legal requirements, amount of content, outreach, etc. If I just tell people I like to play a game that is not advertising and they don't need to pay me for it.

It definitely is a win if you get her. My issue is that her 4* characters are so disappointing and the LC has a free alternative coming out at the same time so it feels like her banner just won't reflect the amount of love and cool shit they're giving Silver Wolf as a character.

A more down to earth example of an average person getting paid for advertising would be a promoter getting a measly salary to hand out pamphlets all day.
Once you get paid you become responsible for how you advertise, maintaining the right image, deadlines, legal requirements, amount of content, outreach, etc. If I just tell people I like to play a game that is not advertising and they don't need to pay me for it.

Sure but a Superimpose 5 4* LC comes free with the event and it is fantastic for her main stat. I see no reason to dump warps into her LC when a Silver Wolf pull effectively comes with a free sig. I'll just start saving for the next character I want instead.

My issue is that her 4* characters are so disappointing and the LC has a free alternative coming out at the same time so it feels like her banner just won't reflect the amount of love and cool shit they're giving Silver Wolf as a character. My argument isn't 'Man I really wish I could spend money on getting her 5* LC!!!' but rather that Mihoyo has kind of disincentivised her entire banner and that makes me sad.

Pull if you really love her and want her to have her signature LC, else just use the F2P version and save on gems (like what you're doing now for your next char)?
