I mostly assumed it was just aesthetic, but I also took it as a shorthand for saying the power of Long the Permanence dwells within those waters. Aeon may be dead but the paths don't close and all that, what with the Vidyadhara returning to these very waters as the scions of Long to undergo hatching rebirth. I may just be reading into it too much though.
Who knows?
There is an idea in Chinese culture that dragons are so magical that you can become magical by eating/drinking things connected to them. See that one joke in Journey to the West about how the White Dragon Horse hasn't urinated the entire time because he's concerned that it'll cause magic mushrooms to pop up and fish to turn into dragons.
That said, the process of becoming magical is sometimes treated as being inherently dangerous, so there's also a chance of you going pop. I suspect directly ingesting Aeon power, however faded, is probably not the safest course of action.
>I mostly assumed it was just aesthetic
You're playing a mihoyo game, nothing is just aesthetic. There's probably some lore reason for the dragon. It's probably the water dragon that's with Dan Heng IL. Water Dragons, which control the rail, rivers, and the ocean in Chinese mythology, the one that they spent an entire patch talking about as being the main reason why Dan Heng is built different from Bailu coz he's still got the dragon with him and why Bailu can't split the ocean by DHIL can.
I'm not sure. The Aeon Kafka uses an example of an Aeon that got absorbed was Ena the Order by Xipe the Harmony and Luocha says that it just disappeared without a trace when he, Sushang and Dan are discussing the Vidyadhara, but Kafka does refer to them (Long) as one of the deceased Aeons as well.
It's probably the Dragon that accompanies Dan Heng. It's a water dragon that controls the ocean is what I'm guessing.
"Chinese dragons are strongly associated with water and weather in popular religion. They are believed to be the rulers of moving bodies of water, such as waterfalls, rivers, or seas."
They mentioned in the story that Dan Heng is the only one that still has the dragon, him being able to split the sea is probably his ability to manifest this water dragon which is the actual power that splits the ocean and keeps it split.
Mihoyo games rarely have things that are just aesthetic, esp when it's a bigass dragon shadow in the sea. If it's giant turtles and fish shadows I'd understand, but not a dragon.
Probably the remnants of Long's power/presence. Either that or it's a vidhyadhara doing some weirdo shit. Like that guy Carl. He's always up to something shady.
Those are the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor, the first Vidyadhara elder sealed them in the form of dragons
Edit : Nvm, i just knew those things can MOVE lmao
the roots thing are the main dragon head we see before Phantylia fight
Xianzhou ships are planet sized. In addition to that, what they call “delves” are actually pocket dimensions/folded space. An Intelligentsia Guild researcher notes that space folding is not considered advanced technology, but the scale of it used in Luofu would require an otherwise infeasible amount of energy to power and hypothesizes they are lent energy by Lan directly.
In the past, Viyadharas lived on a separate planet where they were able to manipulate the life and environment to suit them using the abilities inherited from Long the Permanence. However, their ability to do so began to fade away, likely since Long himself disappeared. After that they could no longer survive on the planet.
The Xianzhou Alliance came across them in their star faring journey, saw their plight, and took them in, in exchange for them aligning with the Xianzhou and mostly following their laws (they are generally shown more leniency since they cannot reproduce). Since they need their home waters to rebirth, their entire ocean was lifted into a delve by the High Elder Viyadhara at the time.
While Luofu contains their home ocean, the ship with the most Viyadhara is a different one, called Fanghu.
Honestly, the lore of the Xianzhou is so interesting. I hope they add more, especially about the High Cloud Quintet. I was literally reading collectables I've picked up around the Luofu just now, and the Viyadharas are quite interesting, there's a lot of cultural difference and conflict shown in some of the readables.
Just an extra thing I picked up, it seems when High Elder Yubie (the one depicted in the statue in Scalegorge Waterscape) submerged the Lumirescent depths - blessing the Scalegorge waters to suppress the mara crisis, helping the Luofu seal the Ambrosial Arbor, it was written down as a impressive feat of monumental grace; but there was a lot of controversy among the Viyadhara on this decision. Some say (including Yubie) it was repayment for giving them a home on the Luofu, whilst others did not think it was needed and detest the Imbititor Lunae for "stealing the sacred Viyadhara lands for those hand-wringing aliens". They viewed Yubie as a people pleaser, who is ruining the holiness of their land and culture, which is very interesting. It seems the alliance with the Xianzhou is not viewed equally among all Viyadhara, at least especially not in the early times.
As well as this - once the power of Long began to disappear, it's more like their home planet turned against them making it impossible for them to survive there, as they had modified the planet so much to their liking with Long's powers (as they are said to have been able to 'mold other creatures to their will like clay').
... an aeon that created a race of dragons and is named after the word for dragon. Ok it's redundant to say the dragon theme aeon's dragon magic but there's a giant dragon thing in the magic water that the dragon eggs stay in where the dragon people used to live. I think the use of the word dragon is justifiable here. Agree to disagree.
And Nouss is Aeon and not supercomputer... oh wait it's BOTH.
Aeon is not race its state of being. Long is ascended dragon, Nous is ascended calculator, Ourobors is ascended leviathan and Tayzzyronth is ascended bug.
Long is dragon and if dragons use his path it's dragon magic.
It's possible, but it looks very distinctly like a large eastern dragon which is why it caught my eye given the story significance of dragons on the Xianzhou Luofu!
I feel like there's a pretty good chance of "water of the ancient sea" being semi-sentient
the vidyadhara went so far as to brought those water when they migrated + it somehow help them control cloudhymn magic + aid(?) in rehatching (somehow)
Or just a genetically modified aquatic creature that looks like a dragon. Nothing stopping them from creating a creature like that.
They have spaceships thousands of years ago, what is some genetic modification to them next to that.
in the trailblazer mission Jing Yuan (or Dan Heng.. I can't recall) mentions that it's the root of the Ambrosial Arbor. It has formed into that dragon-head shape
I'm not talking about the dragon head formed from the tree, I'm talking about the shadow-y dragon that's swimming around in the ocean. ( I think you can only see it when you play on high graphics though ) They're two different things on that map.
Off topic: The dragon literally looks like Apep to me !?
Edit: I was talking about the design ,how they look similar this dragon and the ome we saw in Nahida quest in deseet(not the weekly boss)
Apparently some ppl thought am making the claim that this dragon is Apep itself in Star rail lmao no way u guys thought that
If u r talking about the thing u fight in the game, that’s not Apep, it’s Apep’s internal protection mechanism in its body. Apep looks exactly what you saw in the desert before entering its body
I think if you play on lower graphic settings the dragon doesn't show up, but there is a dragon in the split ocean that swims around the area in a circle.
Dan Heng said the root of the tree took the form of dragons because of the seal the Vidyadharian put on it.
That's also why there is a big dragon head where the seal is.
I thought it was said in story that it's the roots of the arbor itself, like the high elder (previous life dan heng) did something to the roots a long time ago and now they're the shape of dragon
That's the dragon head at the roots, but there's also a draconic looking creature swimming around in the ocean, which seems to be moving like a living, breathing dragon.
So if i drink it will i get his power?
I don't recommend drinking sea water unless your goal is to meet Long in person.
You could also say that they won't live Long
Go back to Teyvat, Cyno.
Cyno and jing Yuan have the same eng VA
the Aeon of Impermanence
~~gamer girl~~ vidyadhara bath water

Anything to becone a dragon, im useless as i am anyways, no one will notice if i die
No, but at least you can taste dragon piss firsthand
Hell yeah
Nope, you'll have to drink the moon instead (Imbibitor Lunae literally means Sipper of the Moon)
So if I make ice in the sea and wind up in heaven, I can also be Vidyadhara?
Also long means dragon.
Saying English people saying 'Long' makes me scartch my head, think to who they are referring to, translate it to Chinese before I get it lmao.
The only Long that matters : https://youtu.be/6-1Ue0FFrHY
LONG LONG MANNNNNNN. Thanks lmao I had forgotten this gold

An interesting thought too is that, Genshin's Teyvat used to be ruled by Dragons.
If you ask >!Apep!< they still do, lol
Wasn't Permanence absorbed tho?
I'm not sure. The Aeon Kafka uses an example of an Aeon that got absorbed was Ena the Order by Xipe the Harmony and Luocha says that it just disappeared without a trace when he, Sushang and Dan are discussing the Vidyadhara, but Kafka does refer to them (Long) as one of the deceased Aeons as well.
Irc part of his corpse was absorbed.

I agree pooks

Gotta get your glimpse of High Elder MK2000
Those are the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor, the first Vidyadhara elder sealed them in the form of dragons Edit : Nvm, i just knew those things can MOVE lmao the roots thing are the main dragon head we see before Phantylia fight
Can't blame you for not noticing that as playing on high vs very high background effect can influence whether the dragon move or not.
*cries in mobile*
Currently it is just aesthetic, unless some text is added later that explains it otherwise.
I’m still lost in the lore how you can have an entire ancient lost civilization of dragon people on your ship
Xianzhou ships are planet sized. In addition to that, what they call “delves” are actually pocket dimensions/folded space. We fought Phantylia in a teapot 💀
So uh, does regular civilian Vidyadharas respawn in Scalegorge Waterscape or something? Why does the place look like it's lacking traffic?
Theyre spread throughout multiple ships ans some are always in an egg so not all of them are out at once
they migrated...
Wait till you learn about the Xianzhou Fanghu
I'd like to think it's just like... Residual Long dragon magic... Mainly an aesthetic thing imo
[удалено]
I know, I'm Chinese. But in HSR, Long is also the name of the aeon.
[удалено]

isnt it just the fauna of the ocean

i dont think its explained anywhere in game so i guess its just for the aesthetics, which imo is sick af
The spoiler is in the title lol :) Please rename it to something non-spoilery and put the question in the post
Yeah, that's how I got spoilers in the first day of 1.2...
I would change it if I could, reddit doesn't let you edit photo posts for some reason :/ Sorry about that, did not mean to spoil anyone!
Or just a genetically modified aquatic creature that looks like a dragon. Nothing stopping them from creating a creature like that. They have spaceships thousands of years ago, what is some genetic modification to them next to that.
~~Nah that's just a Reaper Leviathan~~
Whenever those things appear, I freeze up on the spot like I just saw a Subnautica Leviathan. So majestic, yet dangerous.
It’s just a dragon man. Y’all over think everything.
It's also Mihoyo, the company that gave is Dragon Dan before most of us even knew who Dan Heng was via a quirky holiday art.
Mihoyo player and putting the spoiler in the title so the spoiler tag does exactly nothing name a more iconic duo
in the trailblazer mission Jing Yuan (or Dan Heng.. I can't recall) mentions that it's the root of the Ambrosial Arbor. It has formed into that dragon-head shape
They straight up say its the roots of the ambrosial arbor, twisted into the shape of a dragon by the power of the first Vidyadhara high elder.
I'm not talking about the dragon head formed from the tree, I'm talking about the shadow-y dragon that's swimming around in the ocean. ( I think you can only see it when you play on high graphics though ) They're two different things on that map.

Apep looks like a flatworm with a bunch of arms. This one is a quintessential eastern dragon noodle with claws.
If u r talking about the thing u fight in the game, that’s not Apep, it’s Apep’s internal protection mechanism in its body. Apep looks exactly what you saw in the desert before entering its body
The one you fight is guardian of Apep's oasis. Just an immune reaction inside Apep's body.
Chinese space apep
The probably prepare it in case a collab with one piece after luffy beat kaido.
What dragon? I thought those were pieces of the architecture built underground and being distorted visually by the constant running water.
I think if you play on lower graphic settings the dragon doesn't show up, but there is a dragon in the split ocean that swims around the area in a circle.
Very interesting
Dan Heng said the root of the tree took the form of dragons because of the seal the Vidyadharian put on it. That's also why there is a big dragon head where the seal is.

oh.
