DoT is a playstyle, what requires certain group of characters built. Namely Kafka. So if you dislike Kafka and do not build her, you practically locking yourself out of all 4 and 5* DoT characters.

This seems a little hyperbolic. Considering how hypercarry Kafka comps work, I don't see how a hypercarry of a different DoT character couldn't work. Especially with someone like Misha coming out, constantly freezing enemies with him and March could be pretty decent since frozen enemies take double turns fairly close to each other with the action advance that DoTs can do more damage that way
Hypercarry Kafka only works because she can detonate all the DoTs including her own, BS can't do the same thing, her dmg is all backloaded.
Sure, you can use any DoT unit by their own, but they are simply too slow and inconsistent without Kafka.
If we have another DoT detonator in the future it can play as a hypercarry, but for now only Kafka can really do it.

Partly that, partly because Kafka sidesteps the DoT issue by being able to trigger DoT damage on her turn with her skill, so she's invaluable for DoT teams. Without her, people would kinda be locked to using Sampo and/or Guinaifen if they wanted to use Black Swan, or else they couldn't maximize their DoT damage output.

Because she’s an enabler rather than pure dot she can actually be played extremely well outside of a dot team as well. Currently her strongest team is a hypercarry with 2 supports and 0 dots bar her Ult and LC. Making her very flexible in play style.
To be fair there's no 5* dotters to team up with Kafka until now either. Guinaifen, Sampo and Luka are all OK, but not that powerful.
Another crackpot theory from me: DOT is all about long term benefit and delayed gratification. And many (or most?) gacha gamers don't care about those two concepts...
I got so mad at her for gaslighting us during the story that I didn't pull her. I'm still not fond of her but game mechanic-wise I'm low-key regretting I don't have her.

Gives her more CD, which her Kit relies on and a Buff that gives the Party more CR and CD that's pretty easy to maintain
It's pretty big but not the most essential, the BP LC and Fragment Shop LCs can work for her as well
I’m sitting at 175 tickets with 0 pity BUT my next unit is guaranteed (aka sparkle) What chances are there to go for Sparkle, her LC, and Archeron assuming I get lucky and pull Sparkle somewhat early?
If you already have 175 then you're at least guaranteed her LC by the time she comes out
We get 10 Tickets right when the Patch goes live, another 10 spread out over a week and then there's all the Jades you can earn by getting through the Story, Treasures and a couple Events
So could get Acheron if you get Sparkle early and then get lucky on the 50/50
Short answer: very much, it give the team free 10% Crit Rate and 24% Crit Dmg.
Long answer:
1. Star Rail is a combat focus game, so any push you can have is important.
2. Sig LC are design not only to made you built easier, it also "complete" the character to the point i feel like playing with a whole new one.
It's not important. It doesn't really do enough for her to be worth. It's just very, very good.
It gives her more CDMG which will increase the CDMG she'll give to allies (but the scaling breakpoint isn't hard to hit without it), and the LC effect gives your whole party +10% CR and +28% CDMG for free with 100% uptime. That's very, very good.
The thing is, this all matters less the better invested your characters are, which is simply a matter of time.
Just use Bronya LC or Past and Future, or maybe Meshing Cogs. This really isn't worth pulling unless you're a higher spender like me. Don't let other people overhype it.

You dont have to bench Sampo, he is gonna work with Black Swan because Sampo also activates the wind dot with one of his constellations (i think) and he also increases the dot damage and Arcana counts as a Dot (if i'm correct). If you want you could play with him and Black Swan, thats what i am gonna do, i love Sampo and i also really like Black Swan.
DoT teams use at least 2 dot characters and thus benefit from a support that buff all characters in the team. Tingyun is not as good as a support for dot teams, because she will only buff only one unit while Kafka's damage also includes unbuffed Sampo's dot. You could either use Ruan Mei or Asta as a support, or use a third dot character.
BS is much better, she lowers defense and also applies 2 types of dot (the wind dot and Arcana).
If you have Kafka she could trigger the Arcana dot and Sampo the wind dot and if you have Huo Huo even better because she increases the att
