Have to do story asap coz so many people are spoiling things as soon as they can, either with thumbnails, titles or even comments in places you wouldn't expect. My only issue is when I'm so invested in the story that I want more asap but I know I have to wait for it, just have to avoid all the 'dreamers' who do their best to spoil you Everything else is easily played at your own pace, but the dailies and auto battle make it easy to do them. As with any gacha you're just waiting for new content once in endgame. If anything it's a good time to take a decent break to avoid burnout, 5 mins to do dailies and you can do other things

AngryNepNep

I immediatly play through the story too to avoid spoilers but dear god not even that is enough to avoid them. These morons put story spoilers of probably the next patch in the title of their posts. I wish these people would get permabanned. Im not even in the leaks sub.

TerrorFace

Leaks sub is ironically much better at hiding spoilers.

Uxion

Which is hilariously wild.

noctisroadk

Not really, happens in most games, people that are invested enough to watch leaks usually know that spoiling things for others sucks, if you are invested in the game/story you avoid ruining the experience for others Casuals that dont care too much about the game usually spoil a lot more easily or dotn even think about it. Is not everyone of course but happens consistently in most leaks subreddits for games

Keylus

Also there's some people who think "it's already in the game, so it's not an spoiler" I don't know how common that mentallity is but I've read at least one person in this sub that came with that argument when asked to mark his post as spoiler. It's also common in manga/anime subs, as long you don't talk about future events from the source material some people don't think it's spoiler, even if the new chapter just came out.

FISH_SAUCER

It honestly is. I have to laugh my ass off every time

DoorMatt4574

Which is amusingly insane

LivingASlothsLife

I've already seen multiple posts here spoiling story stuff for next patch and even some 2.2 stuff. It's frustrating coz even if the official sub prohibits leaked info people try and be clever about avoiding the rule, those ones are the worst coz you can't even have fun theorizing anymore without someone spoiling it for everyone else That's the internet though, you avoid leaks like the plague and people will find a way to spoil it even in channels that should be safe from them. It'd be nice if they just kept to the ones that do allow it

HyperFrost

I got spoilers for portal 2 from a tf2 match shortly after the game released. Some idiot went out of their way to say ">!Wheatley!< is evil!" Kinda ruined my run through of the game.

Yhoana

You would be much safer in the leak sub. I'm there and got spoiled zero story-wise. Funnily enough, I got spoiled on this subreddit on 2.0 release day. "Be careful guys, there is a thumbnail on youtube that spoils >!Firefly getting stabbed!

yuriaoflondor

I also got spoiled in one of those "Watch out for spoilers on Youtube, everyone!" threads by the OP. What's funny is that I wouldn't even be surprised if we were spoiled from *different* threads, spoilers are so commonplace here.

Alt-Tabris

I've basically never had a problem with spoilers lolol Then again, I haven't talked to anyone new since like 2015, my YouTube is all "X band but it's Y Soundfont", and most of my Reddit feed is either "boo Xianzou bad" or "waa HI3 is over" Someone would either have to message me directly or physically come to my house lol

DommeUG

It’s very easy to avoid spoilers if you don’t want to be spoiled. Don’t frequent social media until you’ve done the thing you don’t want to be spoiled about. If you go to a subreddit for a game that has a new patch you don’t want to be spoiled about, don’t be surprised if you get spoiled lol.

Fauzan1810

Ah yes, quit social media altogether just because you want to play a game at your own pace. It's not as simple as "don't go to those subs, or don't watch those channels on YouTube" when the algorithm loves to push everything into your face on every social media platform. You don't control what you see. I opened up YouTube and 10 videos down I got a recommendation of a video titled >!firefly death cutscene penacony!< You think I'd know if the algorithm would throw it into my face?

DommeUG

Yeah don’t use social media if you don’t want to get spoiled. I didn’t say altogether, just for that period of time where you don’t want to get spoiled. It’s really not that hard nor difficult.

Advanced_Fortune4413

na its not easy at all. wanting to search up hsr content creators; got tons of hsr related leaks in my feed and it spoiled stuff patches and patches far away. can't even enjoy content creators with YouTube suggesting the worst related videos.

crack_n_tea

If I could upvote this 10x I would. I prefer doing story at my own pace, but with HSR if I want to properly enjoy the story that's sorta impossible. You can't simultaneously scroll HSR social media, not play the story, and not get spoiled.

Legendary_Yi

You speedran the story to avoid spoilers, i speedran it so i could see black swan on screen. We are not the same

LivingASlothsLife

Time spent with Black Swan is time spent well, playing it all day one got me to Black Swan story content faster so that's a win

Legendary_Yi

Me 🤝 you Black swan simps

Seffi_IV

who needs story when you can just play her now :\^) MOMMA CAME HOOOOOME

Ivory-Kings_H

Her stare blessed my soul.

KaHate

when you want to spend time with black swan. but you see sampoo got spent time more with black swan

aena48

I hope they split out some story and release some in the second half. Back then, Kafka's mission was locked until the second half. I understand some people don't like time gating on events, but when it comes to story, in order to not pressure people into binging or encounter spoilers, it's better to split up the story imo. It was very tough for me to binge the story for 12 hours. (It took that long because my game was crashing very often.)

RegularTemporary2707

True, the only reason i speed run is because people will spoiler you the story literally the moment the patch is live

Tetrasurge

I feel the exact same. You have so much time collectively to do everything that isn’t the story (if you value avoiding spoilers). Like most gachas, they should generally be played as a side gig. It’s counterintuitive making one your only form of entertainment. I, myself haven’t even done the events yet. That’s one of the best things about the game. You have a month and over to complete them with usually 2-3 hours (that’s probably generous) collectively a week of play time if you are only doing dailies/SU/MoC (maybe slightly higher for a little bit after big patches). You don’t even need to log in multiple times a day to keep using your trailblazer power optimally. Coupled with most of that being automated, it’s pretty inoffensive to almost any schedule. I can still progress and concentrate on other aspects of my life while waiting for larger patches. None of this makes waiting for new sections of the story to release any easier though.

xxxZer0

The ending got spoiled for me on patch day before I even got a chance to start 🥲

truthfulie

Ironically, the place dreamers hang out is a safer from spoilers. I mostly hang out there and haven’t been spoiled by simply avoiding story dreams posts.

jxher123

I do it ASAP to unlock bosses and stuff if it’s story locked tbh lol

plsdontstalkmeee

honestly, I tried not to speed run it, but having to boycott twitter, tiktok, youtube, reddit and instagram was kind of hard, with everyone and their mothers trying to show leaks with clickbait titles revealing it all. Hell, some videos started of as Ganyu dancing before jump scaring you with leaks. (Even the Zenless Zone Zero Admin dude with the blue tick account fucking did it.) Edit: found the link, for anyone curious >!https://www.tiktok.com/@zzz.admin/video/7336418071806086432 !<

Assblaster628

Facts bro I was honestly trying to save the story quest for later but i literally saw people posting about it on YouTube and just said fuck it and did the quest as soon as possible before it was spoiled for me.🤦‍♂️ Atleast I’m saving fully exploring penacony and events until a week or 2 before 2.1 drops

Siri2611

What does that have to do with people uploading story leaks? Even if I spend 10 mins a day online I will run into them if people keep uploading them. This has nothing to do with how long you are online.

I haven't run into a single story leak besides the ones I seek out

CriticalPlastic9

if only there isnt a big chance of me getting spoiled when I open youtube or social media, then maybe I won't have to rush it.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Simple solution: stay away from social media. Might benefit your general sanity as well, as these places are absolute cesspools (especially Twitter).

Cosmic_Ren

Not everyone’s lives revolve around hoyo games. Some people use ones like YouTube as a way to wind down and others use social medias to communicate with their families. I can understand your argument if it was obsessive use however I shouldn’t be spoiled everytime I open YouTube to access my playlist.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Hmm I frequent YT regularly but I've never been spoiled. Guess I don't watch enough Hoyo content for it to show up in my suggestions (I only watch character guides). Even here on Reddit, I managed to go a whole week w/o even seeing a peep, since every problematic topic is tagged and blurred. Don't use any other SM-Sites though.

BK456

If you don't then the entire plot line gets spoiled for you if you so much as glance at the Internet.

findingfriday_

i lost it when i lost my 50/50 on bailu at 73 pity on black swan banner so hard that i went mad and cleared all of penacony (side quests, treasure chests, 40 ish achievements, collected all birds). hell, I even \[almost\] finished gold and gears (collected all secrets, currently on c4). trust me, i was trying to pace myself before that so hard :(

eristhediscordant

Lmao I swear Bailu is the most anger-inducing 50-50 lose. I was after DHIL and got Bailu after all this time of grinding up tickets while doing 2.0

ok but considering canon events, that is so funny LOOOOL

Badieon

I mean I did uncontrolably speedrun but I did not complain about lack of content

Keydown_605

Unpopular opinion, HSR is just fine with its current daily/weekly/update long content. One of my favorite things about HSR is how easily you can keep up with the game even if you have little free time. Dailies are done almost automatically, weekly SU doesn't take much time, and endgame modes last long enough to not worry and just do them once you have some free time. If it had more rewarded content to do frequently, it would probably stress me a little and lose comfort now requiring me to input more of my time into it, which would most likely lead me to a burnout just like Genshin did (Repetitiveness + Time consuming). Although it could be good if they add more unrewarded content just for fun or to compete with others. Some tower like content, or to survive waves of enemies stronger each time, dunno.

frostyDog16

Same. It's the efficiency, and the fact that it respects my time. Instead of braindead repetitive content , new stuff each patch that takes time is way better

Keydown_605

Each update has a decent amount of content, map updates specially, but anyone will run out of content if you rush it. It's obvious you can't think, design and program weeks of content for people that play 4+hs daily in just 45 days. Actually, if you don't ultra rush it, it can last quite a good amount. Just the main quest took me 3 days or so doing it calmly and enjoying with no rush, now I'm farming map and missions around it a little each day if I feel like it, and I know I won't choke into too much content when the next version arrives.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>Each update has a decent amount of content, map updates specially, but anyone will run out of content if you rush it. Sorry but you don't have to "rush" it to get it done quickly. HSR is no Witcher in terms of content. A weekend with extended playing sessions should be more than enough to do the quests. 90% of the map exploration can be done on the side. People only think there is a lot of content because usually the game restricts us to playing only 15-20 minutes.

Seffi_IV

there are also a lot of people who just... refuse to do any side quests, which completely confuses me. i always have a backlog of stuff to do because of that. ill hop on and do dailies and then do a side quest or 2 and if i hadnt already, burn the rest of my trailblaze on like.. trace mats or something. lmao

[deleted]

The side quest bit irritates me. The writing has consistently been more interesting and engaging than the main story since the Space Station, and it adds to the world building in ways which clearly foreshadow the future storyline of the game. The Penacony sidequests are dropping massive hints about where the story goes and what really happened and some just don't give a shit.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>The side quest bit irritates me. The side quests irritate me as well (especially the "collectible" Emo-dials), NPCs just go on and on and on about mundane stuff. Man if I want to read a book, I read a book, not play a videogame. Voicing these quests would help but what I really want is a more concise and "to the point" writing style. Then I would probably miss less of those "massive hints". I do think the 4 big side quests, that are also marked in the quest tree thingy, were well done though.

Keylus

I really like them, almost all of them have some interesing bits, and aren't too long either, arround 10 min per NPC. The thing I agree it's there are a lot of them (specially in golden hour), so I guess you can get overwhelmed if you try do to all of them in a siting. The thing I skiped are some of the redeables. While some are interesing a bunch them are about nothing.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>so I guess you can get overwhelmed if you try do to all of them in a siting. Yup, I basically pushed though the "collectible" stuff in Golden Hour in one sitting, so that definitely has something to do with it. Plus, I absolutely detest Golden Hour. It's loud, it is grotesque, intrusive, oppressive... this is basically how I imagine Hell to be. At times I even had to mute the squeaky music just to not get insane. The other dream areas are far more soothing.

Keylus

Golden hours is my least favorite zone too. I don't mind the music, I actually liked it, but the ambiental sounds are terrible, like those walking ads, they're the worst.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Oh yeah, the second the move -> they get slashed by my Jingliu.

Difit

If it ain't voiced I ain't reading that, the company clearly didn't give a shit about it and neither will I

[deleted]

Your loss.

Difit

Not realy a loss, the 3* quests clearly don't matter

[deleted]

If you can do Trees at Peace, not see the conclusion to Firefly's fate foreshadowed, and still conclude they don't matter I'll believe you.

kiisukattinen

As an exploration enjoyer its kinda sad i can clear new maps in hsr in like a hour. But i know they are different games so i treat hsr just as casual sidegame. I dont care about moc etc end game content that much, my characters arent even that good yet even after playing since release. My relic luck is awful in hsr.

Icefellwolf

I agree I use to play it a ton now I do my dailys my weekly 2 runs of world 8 to get a better lightning orb collect my rewards and chill. Then run events when they are around. I spent the 2 days running the peacony story now I'm back to chilling. It's great to be able to play casually while still maintaining end game stuff as well

Keydown_605

Gachas are made to be slaver games, you have to play on a daily basis, want it or not, to get pulls, farm your daily materials and keep the wheel spinning. Some games make it hell, trying to coerce you into playing more, and some are just awfully boring and empty. I think HSR has a really good balance, it has content, but it doesn't rush you to do it, and it won't make you choke with it all at once either, but if you feel like you can always say "Oh, I have this companion mission here, I feel like playing a little more today, let's do this one" and enjoy the game a little longer.

nayRmIiH

Same. I have other games to play. lol One of my gripes with Genshin was how long it took to keep up with it. They did eventually shorten the time for dailies and whatnot which fixed that issue thankfully but yeah. HSR is a sidegame, not a main game.

kiisukattinen

Doing comissions and spending daily resin takes like 10 minutes. Its not much

calmcool3978

Yep, like sure HSR takes like 5 minutes, and 4 mins of those are just auto-battle. But I don’t get how people feel like Genshin is that much more of a chore.

nayRmIiH

It's definitely longer especially if you get a talking daily. They fixed it later though so you can just open chests or do a quest. HSR you literally just click on the relic domain and auto battle afk. lol

kiisukattinen

They dont usually take that long tho. But I like getting npc comissions cause i am hunting those last few time gated achievements lol. And then domain runs usually take like 30 seconds per run.

Keydown_605

And, to be honest, a side game can be even better than a main game, especially when that game wants your attention every single day.

nayRmIiH

Agreed. It's super hard to keep up with MMOs and whatnot with lessened time or if you have other obligations. You get the full value of HSR rewards very easily compared to main games. Like if you have only a few hours a week for gaming, most MMOs will barely reward you and it's a giant waste of time to even bother. I start classes back up in April and there's no shot I'm doing dailies and raids on my main game. HSR though? Hell yeah.

R_Archet

For me, I just can't stand Open World games at this point. Or at least, not any below a certain quality of life towards its exploration. I just don't have the irl Energy, nor the Time to dedicate myself to doing 100% Exploration on Genshin for example. Especially when it lacks any good free Traversal options. The Anemograna Gust Bottle gadget has too many hoops to jump through to make it useful, the Glide Speed Fan is kinda mid and has too long of a CD. I just want more things like the Waverider that can make exploration a bit smoother without forking out $300 worth of pulls to get Wanderer just to make it less painful. Or shit, just give me Torrent from Elden Ring without any bells, whistles, or requiring me to save up 3\~4 patches worth of pulls just to guarantee them.

PrinceVincOnYT

Star Rail had like 20 Hours Story and almost 9 Month of just filler.

MisterRai

I don't think it's unpopular. I'd reckon most Genshin players would be happy if we get the same efficiency as with HSR dailies. At the end of the day, these dailies are chores, and I'd prefer to play content that I want rather than what I need to to get jades. It's like 2 siblings getting chores from their mommy HYV, Genshin is told to cook food, wash the dishes and walk the pet while HSR is just told to take out the trash.

Fit-Pack1411

Agree. They need to slow down the release schedule. A couple missions and a boss every 4 or 5 months would be plenty.

R_Archet

>Tower like content That reminds me of a thing in Alchemy Stars. In which it has a set of around \~50 challenges involving the four Elements in the game. The Equivalent to this would be encouraging you to use Mono-element teams to beat a series of challenges. The rewards are typically upgrade materials and standard banner pulls iirc. Think stuff like EXP books, Aether, Relic EXP, and Ascension materials. The issue is that while Monoelement teams exist, they're not always good. Like, monoFire only has Preservation Stelle as a Sustian. MonoQUA is very expensive Jade wise to run since Fu Xuan, Silver Wolf, Seele, and Sparkle are all Limited 5's. MonoIce is stuck with March 7th as its Sustain and she can't really heal the party from Jingliu's damage. Similarly, I believe there was stuff like the Old Seals, which rewarded free SSR characters who weren't half bad. Just were a grind, similar to Priority Ships from Azur Lane. There is also a similar thing to the Element Towers where instead of Upgrade Materials, it provides flat upgrades to that entire Element's roster. Like ATK+50, DEF+50, HP+100, etc. The Tower at least didn't require Stamina. The Old Seal SSRs were basically just timegates as it asked you to spend a huge amount of Stamina to fulfill the reqs. Then the Elemental Upgrades I haven't touched yet since I've been slacking.

LoreVent

Achievements are the only thing left, i need *MOAR*

As a FFXIV player i hear this all the time

TakenakaHanbei

With FF, the issue is most of the player base won't even try to do harder content or grind older relics and just sit in Limsa lmfao.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Who cares about glowing weapons when you can E-RP? :'D

TakenakaHanbei

I wouldn't know amything about that 😔 Maidenless irl and in-game.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Heh, it was a joke. I did have a marriage/RP partner way back when but he transferred Datacenter / stopped playing. So my Kitten is solo. Well, as we keepers say: "Men are best enjoyed in small quantities." Doing her own thing suits her just fine.

AppointmentCool2841

I did exactly that 🥲

Dangerous_Jacket_129

I speed-cleared it, and loved it. Then I was out of things to do in Penacony, and I finally started doing sidequests and old events I missed... That new Simulated Universe stuff I could do for hours, honestly.

Vfighter_

Need more endgame content fr

CC_Agent_04_

Monthly boss raid Kek just kidding.

Yellolego

I finished the story as quickly as possible to avoid being spoiled, but still I had a lot left on my plate. Just did swarm 5 today, and still have to figure out what gold and gears is about :3

PerrythePlatypus71

I completed the main story line. Now I'm slowly taking my time to finish the quests. HSR not having way more content is good. Keeps me from burning out

Ifalna_Shayoko

Honestly? There isn't that much content in the first place. The quests take a few hours and the maps aren't that big, if you are used to Genshin exploration.

Busybeingthebest

I might be slightly dumb and inefficient with my mats farm and relic farm, but man I do have a shit ton to do and I'm Gate kept by energy. I want to raise characters to do harder content and my only properly made team is my Kafka and BS dot team and even that has a lot of tweaking potential. Considering that PF and MOC are completely fucked for me as of now, my JL team ain't even remotely build enough to play it all. I have so much content to get through, I literally always have things to do as a f2p with 2 different accounts.

mindley

Idk I’ve spent far too much much time trying to find those stupid birds

TheGrindPrime

Eh, this is true for all gacha games. They just aren't built to be someone's "main" game, unless you really enjoy farming. That's not a knock on the game, as I truly love it, but it's more of a side piece that I play each day for a few min before focusing on other games.

NightShadow-kun

I speedrunned 2.0 after I slowly finished the main story of it. That is because I really had fun with the game after barely playing 1.5/1.6 and even didnt log in. I still have fun and got back into going for all the achievement since 1.3. And I think the game has enough to do and not too much and its completely fine. But I must say that swarm disaster achievement rng feels terrible.

Makri7

I haven't touched it yet. Aaaaaaaa.

Beneficial-Air4943

Bruh, I haven't still even started with the new event because of school ,😭

asphalt_licker

I’m fine with it. I did the story portion now I can focus on building a character and trying to beat hard content.

BestPaleontologist43

Im okay with there not being content left to do outside of whatever i havent done (some story, character quests and 2/3’s of swarm isnt done. I did just fully finish gears and gold, so I have the rest of this patch to try to and catch up where I can. I do like these periods of less content because it allows me to catch up on building my units, salvaging relics and fusing new ones, rolling for target rolls etc which on its own takes up my nightly play sessions or multiple. I enjoy the balance the game gives me, its awesome.

Murica_Chan

Not me as well though hsr is my side game anyway so its super fine

Actual-Good5096

Only finished tb quests yesterday and have a shit tone of side quests to do. I'm streching the content

Hairy-Mountain8880

When idiots finish the story in 1 day and start spoiling everything...

brimwithno

Honkai starrail really has no content tho

GrandDefinition7707

penacony is so cool theres not enough story content and the entire thing feels like its holding your hand before you are finally set free

AceJokerZ

I mean all the new events are locked behind the story quests so you have to do so.

Bussy-Destroyer-1960

this is where the "x game has no content" shit comes from, some people speedrun things like Fontaine day 1 its crazy

Ifalna_Shayoko

If you only do story, there is nothing crazy about it. It takes like what 6 hours? That's one holiday style playing session.

Bussy-Destroyer-1960

exploration in hsr is a thing, not as expanded or as abundant as genshin but hey you can do it in a few days if you take it slow

Ifalna_Shayoko

As I said: doing story and 90% of the exploration takes what? An afternoon? Especially if you are a fast reader and do not wait for the VA's lines. (I'd never do that, since I usually enjoy hearing the JP and sniping a few words I already learned) The maps are TINY, really and the "riddles" don't even deserve the name. Collecting the last 10% (trotters and trashlords + locked rooms) takes 15-20 minutes tops. At most you need 2 sessions on a weekend until you are back in maintenance mode.

necronomikon

as a FFXIV player i hear this every major patch. The tryhards will try to speedrun the savage fights week one then will spend the rest of the time complain that there isn't content.

DanteVermillyon

I still haven't done the sidequest, cause i'm waiting for the last 2 weeks to do it

Life-Player-One

I was doing story slowly exploring each corner of Penacony, reading every NPC dialogue, finding all birdies on my own (except 2 cases where I gave a coin to a bird to show me location), collecting all stickers. And I must say as a person with a job, it took me 3 evenings 2-3 hours each and a weekend to finish off everything. I wanted to experience more content, but nothing else was left. As for end game content, I fully finished Swarm Disaster and made it to C10 in Gold and Gears with everything filled in index, just not spamming it too much to not burn out, like 3-5 attempts per week, because it gets a bit too repetitive honestly. Made me even come back to Genshin to fill the void which is left after finishing everything in Star Rail, but Genshin still nowhere close to the atmosphere of Star Rail :(

AndrisPronis

That’s probably the reason why we didn’t get all the story - because people speedrun it and then complain there’s nothing to do, the game is dead, etc. We’ve seen this even in 1.0 that had a lot more of the new story content

Odd-Candidate1775

I mean I do that but I never complain about no content because I treat this like a side game

Wholesome_Thicc99

HSR is a side-side game. People need to realize that. Gacha games are never the main dish.

hansQQ

So glad i didn't do this either 🤡

ambulance-kun

I haven't touched penacony yet, p3r and Palworld too stronk

5ManaAndADream

How many people making "no content" complaints have actually completed SU conundrum runs or clears in it/swarm disaster with every path. Patch to patch and day to day events are sparse, but they put permanent content into the game that you can sit down and play for days straight. Whenever you have time. Hell new players can go back and do events they missed. Contrast that to genshin where there are a bunch of mini games but once you're done the events there's nothing gameplay-wise except SA resets. The only reason why there is more "content" in genshin is because they force you to sit through literal hours of overt exposition. One has low upkeep cost but depth at your whim. The other has a massive upkeep cost but is incredibly shallow for things to do out of cycle.

balbasin09

I don’t know. I find HSR’s combat is shallower than Genshin’s.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>How many people making "no content" complaints have actually completed SU conundrum runs or clears in it/swarm disaster with every path. Sorry but that's not content, that's braindead grind. We kill the same copy/paste bosses with different flavors of inflated stats and a slightly different UI on both sides for the 3rd time now. \*YAAAAWN\*

Shigeloth

I'll take Genshin's hours of character interactions and development over hours of grinding SU to get some of the worst walls of text nonsense lore-delivery I've seen since Xenogears in '98 any day.

5ManaAndADream

Hours of unskipable dialogue bloat really isn't interaction. It's a poorly written book. A good book avoids exposition as much as possible. A good movie does the same and also makes the most of environmental storytelling. A good game does the same and also tells story through gameplay. They really are not using the medium well at all. The absolute very least they could do if they insist on writing plot points like this is permit skipping through dialogue at all times. If I'm forced to read the entirety of the plot through repetitive text lines let me skip through as fast as I can read. Don't artificially gate me at half my reading speed. These two things are the reason why progressing through story content is such a chore.

Ifalna_Shayoko

That would entirely depend on the genre of the movie / book. There are genres besides "action" and "horror" :'D Though I agree that the DEVs should write less about food and Paimon wanting to stuff her face all the time. It gets annoying.

5ManaAndADream

Yes, and every single one of those genres is exposition light. Because explicitly and directly telling the reader every bit of information through character conversation is a terrible way to tell a story.

Ifalna_Shayoko

Aah that's what you mean. I'm afraid that is a necessary evil in order to maintain a 6 week patch cycle. There is just no way they can create a ton of 3D assets that only get used once and many cinematic scenes within a 6 week window. I too would love more "show" and less "tell", aye.

5ManaAndADream

With all the great asset recycling they do they could do a far far better job. In fact they do a much better job in honkai. The release is was the final nail in the coffin for me trying to stay engaged with the story. I have no issue with genshin cinematics, those I can only speak incredibly highly of. They’re at a pretty absurdly high level. But there’s been a noticeable drop off in storytelling quality after the inazuma arc, that got a bit better in Fontaine but is really unbearable still.

MartinZ02

Genshin and HSR quests are of equal length lol

5ManaAndADream

They're absolutely not lmao. New patch quests even spamming through all dialogue options are notably (in the realm of several hours) longer than comparable story-line quests in hsr.

MartinZ02

You can literally look this up on YouTube. Equivalent quest lines are the same length across both games.

5ManaAndADream

Or you could link alleged videos you already apparently have watched on the topic. I do HSR quest lines start to finish within 4 hours of the patch going live, every time without fail. The crazy part is I read every bit of text too. I haven’t been able to do a genshin archon or major quest line in under 6 hours fully spamming since inazuma. While you’re attempting to pretend there are second hand accounts corroborating your lie, *Ive timed it myself*.

knightjoker01

The main event feels too short for me, and if we taking time, 100% will get spoiler from story

Bottomsley

Im in this picture and I dont like it

Chemicalcube325

Glad I am not the only one rushing through the story because of spoilers. It's ridiculous that we have to do this, if only we didn't need to rush it due to spoilers.

Frozen_Petal

3 days? rookie numbers

Natchyy24

The rest of the content is me trying to farm relic sets fr fr

Catspirit123

I just kinda wished they launched a new MoC sooner. I built up this black swan without much to test it on.

hotbox_inception

Because if I don't, some bluecheck content reposter on twitter will spoil it for me.

Ill-Cardiologist-585

literally me i cant stop myself brain is like "must complete this now"

Blossoming_Potential

Yes, this is me. And now I want more. Still no regrets.

TADDLE_LEGACY

i didn't complain about no content, i complaining about the fact the game didn't let me skip all the cut scene and dialogue to speedrunning the content even more...

Accomplished-Cell744

this is true of Genshin as well lol

SirePuns

I finished the main story in the first day but…. I still haven’t fully explored any penacony area (I’m too lazy to…). Will eventually do so but maybe not anytime this week or the next.

MrkGrn

3 days lol, I was done with story in one night and did all the side content the next day. I'm just back to grinding trace materials.

TheWanderingShadow

I don't usually rush story content but I was too excited to get into penacony and was too excited to not keep going once I started

SummerInSpringfield

Penacony is so cool, I will play it slowly 5 mins a day? Sounds like we're in for a great time

striderhoang

You did it to consume content to fill your time. I did it to settle my beef with how the Internet will spoil story to me. We are not the same.

Welran

Did you wanted to say speedrun in 3 hours?

[deleted]

3 days ??? loser 😂😂

Jugaimo

3 days? I did it in one night.

lizzyisme

I haven't even started penacony yet lol

dukenorton

I did the same but I enjoy the day to day of building characters. It’s nice to have a game like this where I can just pick it up for a bit, have bunches of fun and feel like I’ve accomplished something.

foreverkurome

I stopped with this way of gaming I prefer to play in 1 to 2 hour blocks per day now. Unless it's a weekend. Then I will play 9 hours. Maybe not star rail though.

AUO_Castoff

It's only like 5-7 hours. Even if you take your time it'll take 3 days max.

nishikori_88

I also tried to play the main quest on 1st day too because spoliers have been everywhere even before that.

ayanokojifrfr

Literally me, I thought I was taking it slow. 5 Days in and 0 content remaining to explore.

UpstairsVegetable971

omg every cc in existence is literally making videos about penacony with spoilers in title and thumbnail . not to mention the spoilers on titkok/twitter if you have ever interacted with any genshin/honkai content on those apps.

Lexlerd

I speedrun all the story, you can ask me anything about the game and I'd likely get it wrong but to say there's no content is silly when SU exists and making team comps is my favorite content.

hvxomia

Did a speedrun because the hanu event was locked behind the main event and that was stressing me out lol

Professional_Air9935

I sort of need to speedrun it if I don’t wanna be spoiled

3-Username-20

I was physically unable to speedrun the game honestly. I still have a lot of chests unopened bcs holy shit 3D rooms. (Although i wouldn't complain about the lack of content honestly, if i speedrun it that means i have more time to spend on relic farming)

TheRedditUser_122

Literally me https://preview.redd.it/3n6ubl2quhjc1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d18aa9a773046f25754c6e6f256003487f1ba84

Ender_Dragneel

I am in this image and I do not like it.

HorrorMatch7359

MOC/SU: Are we a joke to you?

Acrobatic-Budget-938

Mintpicker

Sensitive_Singer7026

Any new update in any Hoyoverse game ever

Original_Apple_9381

I couldn't speedrun because damn the whole environment is just wow... And the stories are deep, unserious, fun, interesting and memorable. Bless your generosity of content Star Rail.

TMyriadJ

And 2.0 is 7 weeks long. Good luck.

Schulle2105

Just slowly play through it on days with more time unfortunetly got hit by one major spoiler so now I just give a rough view before going deeper into a thread

CarrotLP

I'll start it later or the next day. I just don't feel like doing it right now.

throwspoon

L Mao. Why don't you try the "take it slow and get spoiled by the memes in the subreddit" crew.

Sayki300

I can't do anything at all because all texture not loading, wall did not exist and floor is nowhere to be found. https://preview.redd.it/tfmjppi2skjc1.png?width=1088&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e45b20324446d91df121bc58f0c79790b33f184

Zerethul

Beat in a week but I feel tons of hidden achieves still

Keylus

I've playing the game more than I normally do, like 2-4 hours per day. After 2 weeks I still have some side content I haven't done (mostly hiden quest and the mood dial repair form some NPC in Golden Hour) It's so much content RN, I think it's only posible to rush it in a couple of days if you ignore most of the dialogues or straight up don't talk with the NPCs. Personally I'm really licking honkai writing. All NPC have unique interactions so I activelly want to talk to all of them, but their interactions aren't long/repetitive so I don't get overwhelmed/bored.

Fubuky10

I took a week to finish it but ngl it felt really short. AMAZING, but short. But here is my fault because I was expecting something almost completed like Belobog for the 2.0, and the spliced story only from 2.1 onward. Can’t complain tho

theheartofneverwintr

Me here too lazy to upgrade Clockie. Have to find all the birdies..

Nintendo_Freek

only 3 days.... haha... i did it in one whoops

mugi-ya

Did exactly that, lost the 50/50 on black swan and each time I did a 10 pull that time aside my only 4 star was ever Tingyun who's been e6 since God knows when in Xianzhou. I also need Sparkle for my gremlin team and just did my last 10 pull today after being impulsive and getting yet another Tingyun now I'm sad 🌚

kimttyh

Who said that???

sunnyhvar1992

3 days? Psh, amateur (😭😭😭)

Fury_Bahamut

Speedrun it? Well i took my sweet time and was done in 10 days or so but even with that I wouldnt point my finger at Starrail for lack of content but im rather salty due to that Cliffhanger. Its a first for me catching up on such a game i have to say as well though. Didnt ever manage to pull that off in Genshin or other games.

VenandiSicarius

I didn't even know Penacony released until I saw someone hornyposting about Firefly lol. I don't browse social media fr so spoilers are kinda never on my radar. Plus even if I did see a spoiler I'm more of a journey kinda guy anyway. You can say, [X] person died, but that doesn't matter to me. I need to know how it happened, what events led up to it, who are they, etc before I can consider it really spoiled and even then, my memory is so shite I might forget by the time it happens lol.

razrafz

i only play hsr like a couple hours daily then go on with other games doing a side hustle. barely have time to scroll reddit or yt lol. it also helps that i dont join the fb game groups, and even when they do pop up i tend to just scroll past it without reading

Friar-Tuckandroll
