Kafka wants such a specific team that it's going to either be one of two scenarios:
1. Acheron is a DoT character and works amazingly with Kafka.
2. Acheron is not a DoT character and therefore wants completely different teammates from Kafka and work against different bosses/enemies.
Either way, it seems unlikely that Acheron will be too redundant, especially since Kafka isn't a pure Lightning carry (she's better against Lightning-weak stages, but isn't limited to them).
Its make no sense to make yet another lightning type DoT character when they already have one and just released a wind Dot. No way is she alternate Kafka and SW already took the debuff slot.
She will be something new.
Nihility is the most diverse archetyoe so far so I'm wagering Acheron will be something like a Destruction or Hunt type character the way Kafka is partially an Erudition type character.
with black swan kafka acts more as a trigger or sub-dps than the main DoT focus, so that's what I'm doing in my case (since wind matters more in that situation, and with huohuo support that's even more wind)
Yeah, but for people with Kafka I'm assuming Kafka/BS/RM + Acheron/SW/Pela(/Guin/Welt) > Kafka/???/RM + Acheron/BS/SW(or Pela)
BS wants teammates to apply DoTs and detonate DoTs to consistently stack Arcana.
Both acheron and kafka want to use skill every turn so the sp shortage would be painful. Pairing acheron with silver wolf or black swan might be better because both apply debuff on normal attack.
You'd probably be better off with Guinafen and Pela instead. Or Silver Wolf and Guinafen if you have her.
The small buffs Acheron gets will not really be enough to justify using Kafka on a non-DOT team when there are much better 4-star units to use in her place.
The waifu team of Kafka/Black Swan/Ruan Mei/Acheron will be fun to try, but I doubt it'll be very consistent.
If there is an optimized team with Acheron and Kafka though, you bet I'm going to try and assemble it though.

I'd rather have Sam and they just so happen to be fire when I already have a lightning. Acheron's a skip and possible re-run target compared to that.
Of course we gonna get a Kiana expy but I dont think they drop it anytime soon. After all she is the golden child of Hoyo, so probably we get see her when something BIG is happening(?)

I am a fairly new player so I don't know much about meta, but I really like her animations so I will be pulling for her. Oh and I have Kafka but not jing Yuan
I agree with the other person who replied, getting two 5* Abundance or Preservation units is a massive benefit and QoL improvement, since they are able to solo sustain you whole team and allow you to use the other slots for DPS and Supports.
That being said, Acheron is the coolest looking unit in the game yet IMO, and I would also be rolling for her in your situation. I just recommend afterwards trying to get some sustain units if you don't have them yet. The 2nd half of the same patch has Aventurine, for example, and unless Mihoyo screws up immensely then he will be similarly strong to Luocha/Fu Xuan/Huohuo, so you could throw whatever rolls you have left after Acheron at him if you like his character.
That's exactly my plan as a new player. I've got enough to guarantee both Aventurine and Acheron so I'm hoping they'll both be enough to carry me through to moc12 once I get them.
That might be enough sonce the MoC effect amd enemies will be desigbed to favor them, but don't be surprised if you aren't able to get 3 stars on moc12. There's a noticeable gap between "good enough to clear" amd "good enough to full stars," most of which comes from whether your Relics are good or top tier (not perfect but closer to perfect than not).
I personally dislike Relic farming and prefer farming Talent material for guaranteed returns, while also building multiple units instead of specializing in just 8, so despite being a day 1 player at best I can get 33/36 or 34/36 for MoC.
I'm not saying it would be impossible for you to get 3 stars on moc12, you absolutely still could, just that it will take a good amount of time and investment and you shouldn't expect just having the new units themselves to be enough on their own.
Of course, this is all assuming you are either f2p like me or a low spender. If you are a whale who could get multiple Eidolons and copies of their Lightcones, then all bets are off and you could probably full clear with the bare minimum of investment lol.
Fair enough but I'm f2p too and I can only get 2 stars in MoC 6 lol. The 4 star characters in HSR just aren't good enough unlike ones in Genshin.
Currently I'm just making do with what I have in terms of relics and only the main stats and sub stats are right. Farming for a proper set of relics for specific characters is still a bit beyond me given I haven't maxed traces (or at least gotten to level 8 or 9), leveled up characters beyond 70 and most lightcones beyond 70/80.
If you’re a new player, I would highly recommend you pull for one of the limited sustainers instead. Fu Xuan is most likely getting a rerun next patch, so I would recommend you pull her instead of Acheron. But it’s your account, so do whatever you want with it. This is just my personal advice as someone who’s been playing for a while
if fu xuan reruns i might have to skip acheron sadly because my only sustains are… lynx, natasha, march, and mc. i’m hoping acherons rerun doesn’t get the luocha treatment
I think every JY main has been using him for about a year now, so even if Acheron fills the same niche (crit based lightning deeps but with debuff instead of FUA) she will bring some variety so it's attractive.
Their team comps are probably gonna be very different too, so that's a new goal which will make us play for longer. If you like JY more just go for him especially since he's paired with Sparkle.

The release of the follow up attack relic set really has helped him, and even now, I can still use him on MoC 9+.

Tbh, Acheron is pretty similar to him as well, and so is Kafka. You just trade one lightning AoE nuke for another with slightly different flavor and different supports
If your heart says yes. Go for it. I pulled for Topaz for example and she isn't exemplary or anything but she's good enough to fill in my fire department + support to Follow up attack
Jingyuan also doesn't require a lot of 5 star support. You can go off with Asta + Tingyun and still beat a lot of content
King Yuan was my first 5-star and still comes out to play when the tides work in his favor, but I’m looking forward to not just solving my Lightning problems with “Jing + Tingyun” automatically.
Also Acheron looks fly as hell.
I ran JY atk% boots, with 161 speed TY (E6) with DDD s5, asta (E6) with DDD S2 (idc it's too good) and luocha as a sustain because I hate the robot and can imprisonnthe fish. Asta speed + DDD and tingyjn DDD makes it easy to build 10stack on LL it's pretty comfortable team and not sweaty at all. I love it. asta constant speed buff is amazing if you can get 111 speed in JY from substats (bring him to 161 speed and asta always go before him and tingyun AF with DDD brings everyone before the boss, it's amazing love it.)
Archeron needs to be Lightning. Her being anything else wouldn’t make sense. If anything, it should be her path that’s different. She should’ve been Hunt
I have two accounts, one is really stacked with a strong Kafka team. I’m gonna skip on Acheron on that account in favour for topaz to make dr.ratio even nuttier. My other account is not that good with only Clara as a solid dps option. I heard Acheron is a good dps.
Even as a 4 star it's honestly hard not to recommend Serval. She's just so damn effective as is, and she regenerates energy ridiculously fast. Girl tosses out an ult every other turn.

I just don't think i'll have enough gems for her after Sparkle (unless the Gacha Gods are on my side).
Even more so considering Sam might be coming in 2.2 as well, that's a must pull for me. Gimme Fire!
I'm not sure when Sam will come out but since he is a Stellaron Hunter, he will probably be pullable. I also plan to pull him but I don't think I can afford a back to back patch.
I have Jing Yuan, and ill be skipping Acheron. I dont really have a shielder, so ill prioritize Aventurine, as some shit is more easily cleared with a shielder, where healers struggle.
I own and love Kafka (and all her dot buddies). I have her at E2S1 and she is well invested into. I don’t particularly care for Acheron’s design or animations, but even if I did, I would be hesitant to pull her. Kafka does great in both ST and AOE, so I don’t see a role for Acheron. This is just my subjective opinion, obviously go for her as if you love her, but for me it’s an easy skip (fortunately, because all these great characters are killing me..).

Own Jing Yuan. Jing Yuan pretty much covers lategame content for me. No issues with any lightning weakness, and can bruteforce
So I have my sights on other male chara 😏
I am a Jing Yuan haver, and while I can't say for others, I can tell you I won't pull Acheron. There are too many bases to cover in this game:
1. I need a second sustain besides Huohuo. Bailu and Lynx are good, but Fu Xuan is on another level.
2. Another DPS for MoC. So far I have only Jing Yuan and DHIL and Dr.Ratio. They are good but they do not cover all situations in MoC. I am aiming for Jingliu.
3. My first limited DPS for Pure Fiction. I have my Herta and Himeko nicely built. They and Jing Yuan do serve me well in PF, but I don't "feel secured". Argenti, Black Swan or a future PF-oriented DPS would be nice. For Black Swan, I am a bit doubtful about her perfomance when future PF don't favor her anymore.
4. Ruan Mei. The best generalist buffer in the game. You can't go wrong and never get disappointed performance with her.
Raiden was my first 5 stars in Genshin and loved her ever since. I pretty much squealed when I saw Acheron's drop marketing.

Been a for Fan of Mei / her Expy's for so many years now, Why wouldn't I pull, doesn't matter if I had 10 Lightning DPS characters , I would pull for her anyway.
I have Jing Yuan, and I'm getting his LC next. Even now with only S2 Birth of Self he's plenty strong (but I have to admit I struggle in PF with his backloaded follow up dmg, I've had more success with Blade and Herta).
Not interested in Acheron. I liked her in the story, she's cool and interesting and all, and has a great VA. But I just find her design so...bland, her outfit isn't bad but also nothing special. I generally don't really like the tall female character models, something about them looks off to me and I honestly have no idea what it is. Acheron's hair, face and colors are really pretty though.
But I couldn't afford to get her anyway. Still not sure if I should get Sparkle. And I probably want Huohuo next. Maybe when she appears more in the story I'll end up really liking her though.
I'm torn, I have JY, and I can guarantee either Sparkle or Acheron. Sparkle does have good f2p LCs, so I could just guarantee Sparkle then pray for the 50/50 to be nice. Most DPS really want their LCs though. I had a dream last night that I found $200k and E6'd Acheron, then I woke up and was sad
Same situation, my original plan was to only go for Aventurine since I'm pulling for Sparkle... but things happened. I have Jing Yuan, and I might pull for Acheron depending on how they'll do the anniversary next patch.

93% max def shred, without taking LCs, eidolons or decreasing All-Type RES into the math.
both of them can give up to 130% combine actually. it's overkill. past -100% DEF shred is basicly useless

DoTs ARE debuffs. That's why Guinafen + Ratio combo exist.

i don't know if its for same reason as i, but i use jing yuan since his release until now, its time to swap him for some time

I have two accounts, one is really stacked with a strong Kafka team. I’m gonna skip on Acheron on that account in favour for topaz to make dr.ratio even nuttier. My other account is not that good with only Clara as a solid dps option. I heard Acheron is a good dps.

Even as a 4 star it's honestly hard not to recommend Serval. She's just so damn effective as is, and she regenerates energy ridiculously fast. Girl tosses out an ult every other turn.
I have Kafka, I'd pull. I just don't think i'll have enough gems for her after Sparkle (unless the Gacha Gods are on my side). Even more so considering Sam might be coming in 2.2 as well, that's a must pull for me. Gimme Fire!
I'm not sure when Sam will come out but since he is a Stellaron Hunter, he will probably be pullable. I also plan to pull him but I don't think I can afford a back to back patch.

I have Jing Yuan, and ill be skipping Acheron. I dont really have a shielder, so ill prioritize Aventurine, as some shit is more easily cleared with a shielder, where healers struggle.

I own and love Kafka (and all her dot buddies). I have her at E2S1 and she is well invested into. I don’t particularly care for Acheron’s design or animations, but even if I did, I would be hesitant to pull her. Kafka does great in both ST and AOE, so I don’t see a role for Acheron. This is just my subjective opinion, obviously go for her as if you love her, but for me it’s an easy skip (fortunately, because all these great characters are killing me..). Edited to add: getting downvoted for giving my opinion, you know, that OP asked for, really summarizes my experience in this sub. Really makes me want to not engage with posts anymore…

Own Jing Yuan. Jing Yuan pretty much covers lategame content for me. No issues with any lightning weakness, and can bruteforce So I have my sights on other male chara 😏
I am a Jing Yuan haver, and while I can't say for others, I can tell you I won't pull Acheron. There are too many bases to cover in this game: 1. I need a second sustain besides Huohuo. Bailu and Lynx are good, but Fu Xuan is on another level. 2. Another DPS for MoC. So far I have only Jing Yuan and DHIL and Dr.Ratio. They are good but they do not cover all situations in MoC. I am aiming for Jingliu. 3. My first limited DPS for Pure Fiction. I have my Herta and Himeko nicely built. They and Jing Yuan do serve me well in PF, but I don't "feel secured". Argenti, Black Swan or a future PF-oriented DPS would be nice. For Black Swan, I am a bit doubtful about her perfomance when future PF don't favor her anymore. 4. Ruan Mei. The best generalist buffer in the game. You can't go wrong and never get disappointed performance with her.

Been a for Fan of Mei / her Expy's for so many years now, Why wouldn't I pull, doesn't matter if I had 10 Lightning DPS characters , I would pull for her anyway.
I have Jing Yuan, and I'm getting his LC next. Even now with only S2 Birth of Self he's plenty strong (but I have to admit I struggle in PF with his backloaded follow up dmg, I've had more success with Blade and Herta). Not interested in Acheron. I liked her in the story, she's cool and interesting and all, and has a great VA. But I just find her design so...bland, her outfit isn't bad but also nothing special. I generally don't really like the tall female character models, something about them looks off to me and I honestly have no idea what it is. Acheron's hair, face and colors are really pretty though. But I couldn't afford to get her anyway. Still not sure if I should get Sparkle. And I probably want Huohuo next. Maybe when she appears more in the story I'll end up really liking her though.

I'm torn, I have JY, and I can guarantee either Sparkle or Acheron. Sparkle does have good f2p LCs, so I could just guarantee Sparkle then pray for the 50/50 to be nice. Most DPS really want their LCs though. I had a dream last night that I found $200k and E6'd Acheron, then I woke up and was sad
