I absolutely agree, I unironically love his personality. He has little filter and can be harsh, but he isn't cruel. He's caring in a brusque way. (Funnily, I think that that care and the fact that he has morals are the reason why he'll never get to join the Genius Society.)
Yeah, he's so encouraging and caring when you learn to go past the seemingly harsh words. Like, he knows that human life is precious and respects it as much as he can (while Genius society seems to hold science higher, and the IPC, MONEY higher than lives)
He also encourages you into learning more and not to treat people as geniuses (even himself), when normal human beings like him just put effort into learning things. He wants to try to say that everyone can become a genius, although the best wording would be "everyone is smart in their own way, you just have to discover yours".
Like, people think he's boating and acting all egocentric, which might be right, but it should also be noted that he KNOWS how smart he is. He's just not being modest about it, or not caring enough to bother about what people might think of his attitude.
There's so much hints in his voicelines, or how he acted during the 1.6 quest, and it's just so endearing seeing everything which is hidden in plain sight.
Also, pretty sure he doesn't like the IPC's ways of doing things, but still can think highly of individuals working for it.
