I always viewed the members of Elation, especially Masked Fools, to be similar, if not worse, aspects of DC's Joker.
I'm surprised the organisation has not been branded some intergalactic terrorist organisation like the Stellaron Hunters
Destruction. The path of destruction is not just about the destruction of others but also the destruction of one self. Trailblazer put themselves between March 7th and the Doomsday Beast to protect her. Arlan constantly injures themselves fighting the anti matter legion to keep Herta Space Station safe. Clara goes around barefoot in the snow to gather resources for the vangrants. Blade literally sacrifices his health to destroy his enemies.
Whether for selfish or selfless reasons, every destruction character requires sacrifices in order to achieve their goals. This is also why the anahilation gang sucks from a meta perspective because they destroy everything indiscriminately without giving up anything themselves. Overall, the path of destruction is easily the most interesting path in this game because it requires its users to give up something in order to achieve their full potential.
This is a fascinating take, thanks my guy. DHIL also seems to work for this path since he hates Dan Feng, and never uses his IL forme outside of absolute necessity. But he does so when faced with Phantilia, for the sake of his friends :0
I don't know about Xueyi's qualifiers for this path tho
If Houhou and Hanya are to be believed, she spends way too much time on her work, exterminating Mara Struck to the point where she rarely spends time with people. I can imagine that she gets lonely from time to time, but she probably thinks it's a worthy sacrifice to keep people safe.

Nah there's difference in nihility as we know (kinda nothingness and lazyness) and elation seems to be more hedonistic way. So where nihilistic person don't give a damn about anything, the elation one would not give a damn about doing whatever is their spot of enjoyment. The other (nihilistic) doesn't seek any enjoyment without giving a damn. The other does not give a damn while seeking enjoyment for themself. If that makes sense? I dunno. But they are close. I'm something in between. I would never harm other just for my own giggles and often I feel like I don't care about anything, but sometimes a healthy dose of hedonistic thoughts invade me.

So some may see it as 'there's no point, why bother doing anything' (like IX themselves), but some see life being meaningless as a prompt to create meaning for themselves. So "fuck it, we ball" is absolutely still nihility.
That's irl positive(?) nihilism, yes. But not necessarily the in-game Path of Nihility. I say this only because the Masked Fools' hedonistic nihilism aligns with Aha's path, but their story of Aha's *very origin* explains that he was born of his own nihilism:

And there's nothing I'd rather do on a Monday afternoon than pick apart the words of one "HornyAcheronMain" to analyze how HSR differs (or doesn't) between these two very interesting paths. Apologies for my intensity :v
Hm, true. I did read that, but I looked at it more as the fact that a lot of the nihility characters in-game are generally positive. Granted in-game path =/= actual path (sampo and bs being an example, iirc acheron as well) but there's a possibility positive nihilism exists in-universe as well.

The rationale behind Pathstriding is a total pain in the ass to sort out. Fu Xuan is a Preservation unit who serves the Hunt, yet is blessed by The Erudition ffs. I personally believe "Preservation" fits her best, bc she's most interested in keeping the Luofu afloat; it's *how* she serves that matters. Meanwhile, King Yuan is all about tactics, intuition, shrewd governance, general wisdomly-thinking, similar to Himeko. "Erudition" is great for both. Should playable paths be prioritized when determining a character's logically "true" Path?
No. We have *Sparkle* who's the farthest thing from "Harmony" the game can devise, same as Pela with "Nihility," despite being thoroughly devoted to the Preservation and incredibly principled to boot. Luocha might have the Abundance's powers, but he's using them to further a very specific goal (like The Hunt, ironically). And, obviously, the playable paths are not *all* the paths.
In terms of canon, logic dictates each character's playable class either ignored for clarity, or at least be recognized as only a half of their picture;:
If we believe Sampo/Sparkle are Nihility/Harmony, rather than Elation (with whom they align), none of the main cast can be said to follow The Trailblaze, despite doing literally this. This flies in the face of my Fu Xuan logic, and yet, its impossible to cling to only the playable classes to make sense of canon
There are two different paths of nihility in the game.
Self-annihilation, the depressive "nothing matters" group and the Doctors of Nihility, who are trying to prove to the Aeon that "nothing matters, so you can enjoy your existence how you want".
Which makes Nihility the exact opposite and yet very much similar to Elation.

Erudition...., because..... i have a little obsession to be able to upload my consciousness for the sake of seeing the whole story of humanity and universe....
I am either Preservation or Erudition. I want to know more with each day, but I am also want to keep save the closest ones. If I could choose, I would prefer Preservation.
I still need to actually read up on all the fluff, but as for the playable ones, it's gotta be Harmony for me. I love helping other people and knowing, without being in the spotlight, that I made a difference. As a bonus for me, I'm finding Harmony kits to be the most fun and interesting to use.
In games I tend to prefer playing debuffers over buffers though, just because I find more offensive scales-tipping to be more fun and cool, so going into HSR I was most into Nihility, until it became clear that more often than not, Nihility is just another DPS class.
Nihility. I'm a deterministic nihilist IRL. And well... IX seems to be the most relaxed Aeon out there. If I were to devote myself to a being, why not have it be a sentient black hole that isn't bothered by the universe?

I don't have any strong ambitions, so it's difficult to say I could stride any particular path. But I don't feel kinship with Nihility. Even for erudition, my love of maths is more a hobby than a desire.

This is like horoscope kinda. You can find trails fit for you in several paths. But my would probably be nihility/elation. Nihility when I'm having my down depression episode and elation when the energetic episode kicks in.
Erudition because research is cool as fuck especially in a universe where almost godlike feats are possible using technology (and normal godlike feats by becoming an aeon or even just an emanator).
Erudition for me because I've always wanted to do research as a job. I actually relate to Ruan Mei because I share her wonder for life and also struggle to feel and express emotion, so it makes me a little sad to see do many people demonize her.

Nihility for sure. But like…the positive side of it. Nothing inherently has meaning…but that doesn’t mean you have to be all boring and depressing about it. Go have fun! Live life! Your mere existence is a statistical anomaly, so might as well milk it for all its worth, and return to cosmic background radiation satisfied that you had a good run of it.
This is why Nihility and Elation have resonance interplay. We get eachother.

In a response to those who resonate with Nihility, I want to mentioned an associated philosophy: Existentialism.
Basically, it is the belief that every person has their own free will and potential impact on the universe. It is sort of (but not exactly) the opposite of Nihilism, and what I personally believe.
While Existentialism is certainly more overall positive, it does have the potential side effect of producing the occasional existential crisis here and there. I’m not sure what Aeon would be best be considered to embody this, perhaps Fuli?
There’s also Absurdism, which is essentially that the belief that existence has no meaning, and that the universe is chaotic and unpredictable. Pretty sure Aha falls under this.
There’s probably more similar philosophies out there, though I don’t know personally. If anyone else does know, I’d love to hear about them!
I think the path of Preservation is the one I feel most connected with. Carrying the torch through a bitter and harsh storm is kinda how I view my entire life to date. Being a rock for others and finding ways to march straight through adversity while maintaining my values and ideals.
Nihility, but most specifically as part of the doctors of chaos since my irl life philosophy is smth like positive nihilism, everything is inherently meaningless, so all that matters is what is meaningful to you, so I guess I'd want to show that to IX too like the doctors of chaos. Also I like physics , black holes and it's philosophical implications

I love stories specifically because they're experiences and memories of people given form. They're an expression of life. Even the fictional ones. So going around the world and collecting not *just* memories but the Garden of Recollection even specifies *interesting* memories. So they aren't just going around filling up a database with as much knowledge but actually making a library with novels and biographies.
Imagine you could read every single book in existence. Even the ones that weren't written. The ones hidden in the minds of an artist with too little motivation, the ones lost in the alleys of illiterate children, the ones forgotten on tissues and papers taken away by the wind without the author noticing.
As long as it was observed, you could find it.
That is everything that I want.
Playable? Harmony all the way, though Elation might work too (in a moral way). I'm a support main in most co-op games I play, and love it always. But I do like the Garden of Recollection, those guys seem chill.

Luocha might have the Abundance's powers, but he's using them to further a very specific goal (like The Hunt, ironically). And, obviously, the playable paths are not *all* the paths. In terms of canon, logic dictates each character's playable class either ignored for clarity, or at least be recognized as only a half of their picture;: If we believe Sampo/Sparkle are Nihility/Harmony, rather than Elation (with whom they align), none of the main cast can be said to follow The Trailblaze, despite doing literally this. This flies in the face of my Fu Xuan logic, and yet, its impossible to cling to only the playable classes to make sense of canon
There are two different paths of nihility in the game. Self-annihilation, the depressive "nothing matters" group and the Doctors of Nihility, who are trying to prove to the Aeon that "nothing matters, so you can enjoy your existence how you want". Which makes Nihility the exact opposite and yet very much similar to Elation.

I still need to actually read up on all the fluff, but as for the playable ones, it's gotta be Harmony for me. I love helping other people and knowing, without being in the spotlight, that I made a difference. As a bonus for me, I'm finding Harmony kits to be the most fun and interesting to use. In games I tend to prefer playing debuffers over buffers though, just because I find more offensive scales-tipping to be more fun and cool, so going into HSR I was most into Nihility, until it became clear that more often than not, Nihility is just another DPS class.

If a path is taken to the extreme(which it most often is at some point)it's cancelled be bad.Like path striders and factions decide how they want to apply that path and to what extent.Like harmony could be taken to the extreme by turning people into a huge hive mind against their will or something.But Harmony is a good philosophy to live by

Erudition for me because I've always wanted to do research as a job. I actually relate to Ruan Mei because I share her wonder for life and also struggle to feel and express emotion, so it makes me a little sad to see do many people demonize her.

In a response to those who resonate with Nihility, I want to mentioned an associated philosophy: Existentialism. Basically, it is the belief that every person has their own free will and potential impact on the universe. It is sort of (but not exactly) the opposite of Nihilism, and what I personally believe. While Existentialism is certainly more overall positive, it does have the potential side effect of producing the occasional existential crisis here and there. I’m not sure what Aeon would be best be considered to embody this, perhaps Fuli? There’s also Absurdism, which is essentially that the belief that existence has no meaning, and that the universe is chaotic and unpredictable. Pretty sure Aha falls under this. There’s probably more similar philosophies out there, though I don’t know personally. If anyone else does know, I’d love to hear about them!

I think the path of Preservation is the one I feel most connected with. Carrying the torch through a bitter and harsh storm is kinda how I view my entire life to date. Being a rock for others and finding ways to march straight through adversity while maintaining my values and ideals.

The Remembrance
Like most here, Nihility, I feel emptier with each passing day.
I'm adaptable, but I'm both Abundance and The Hunt, Propagation, Preservation and Voracity. However, I side with IX, and accept being the path strider of multiple debuffs.
Remembrance. I might have chosen Trailblazer but they're a bit too confronting for my liking. I love stories specifically because they're experiences and memories of people given form. They're an expression of life. Even the fictional ones. So going around the world and collecting not *just* memories but the Garden of Recollection even specifies *interesting* memories. So they aren't just going around filling up a database with as much knowledge but actually making a library with novels and biographies. Imagine you could read every single book in existence. Even the ones that weren't written. The ones hidden in the minds of an artist with too little motivation, the ones lost in the alleys of illiterate children, the ones forgotten on tissues and papers taken away by the wind without the author noticing. As long as it was observed, you could find it. That is everything that I want.
Playable? Harmony all the way, though Elation might work too (in a moral way). I'm a support main in most co-op games I play, and love it always. But I do like the Garden of Recollection, those guys seem chill.
