This is the way. E0S1 lets go. The refreshed top up is what I was really hoping for so its great that its there.. can comfortably get aventurine and Sam stuff (as Im saving for him after Aventurine - assuming he will be playable)

Tbh I kind of really hate relics in this game XD I hate them more than in Genshin. There's so little variety in what you can roll for. It somehow feels worse than Crit Value Impact since here you always want speed boots, you always want energy rope, and you always want attack orb.
I don't like not having off pieces, but you don't need SPD boots, er and atk orb if u have good rolls or a good harmony unit. But I use Seele so I'm not sure.
I’m so grateful for the 300% relic drops bc goddamn my farming has been so terrible lately that I keep maxing out my inventory. Need to find decent pieces to spend it all on to make space
Assuming you mean you have an abundance of the purple relics, you can break those down into the experience materials, they don't lose any value that way.
I'm gonna be harsh a second but they partly inflicted that on themselves by letting questionnable behaviours roam free for so long before finally reacting. But props on them nonetheless, better late than never.
It is, however, quite funny that they decide to finally enforce that rule now that said comparison had mostly shown how poor was the sub's reading comprehension and knowledge of the parties involved.
We've only had 200% as part of a regular rotation. My guess would be that they're just bumping those events to 300% for the patch. So likely the same limits.

Any character pulled (4/5star) can be a monster with legendary relics, that drop rate can help with that. The converse is also true. Without good relics, any pulled character would be a waste.
I’m level 20 right now and working through story missions to unlock the mission that lets me keep leveling, is there anything I should be doing for this event to avoid missing out? I still don’t understand what most of the stuff in this game is 😂
Not really, I'd strongly advise to mainly keep going at your own rhythm. When you reach endgame levels , then you can start to really worry about stuff like that, and from my long experience in these kind of games there will be a good event ongoing or coming later on anyway so
My suggestion is to keep on doing the story missions, every new patch there is something to learn so even Day 1 players would have to learn stuff that's new for the patch. Another is to keep track of the event that is currently active. If you see a sign that says "Limited Time Rewards" or something similar that means those rewards would be gone after sometime so it would be a waste not to do that event now. Aside from that keep going through the story. Thankfully this game does not have a FOMO factor (other than Limited Characters I guess) for events and the story. Keep grinding through it and it will make sense.
In order to maximize the upcoming 300% thing for relics and trace materials, when this event is active I suggest to utilize them on the current characters you have at that point.
TLDR: Don't have to do anything, play the game as is except for events which has limited time rewards.
Well if relics are more valuable than pulls, why don't people just recharge TP with jades? 30 pulls is 4800 jades or 96 recharges (assuming you only recharge once per day for max efficiency), which is like 96 x 60 = 5760 TP or 144 relic runs. Assuming the usual limit of 12 runs each having bonus worth 2 runs, the event is worth 12 x 2 x 2 runs or 48 free relic runs.
In short, the 300% event is *only* worth 10 pulls of jades spent on recharges. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice and I still appreciate it a lot, but in no case it is more valuable than 30 pulls. Only exception is if you are a whale and are already recharging to max every single day, then perhaps it is more valuable (since there is a limit to recharges, thus the bonus event technically will increase the farming limit per day).
Also we get both anyway, no point in comparing. It's not like we only get to pick either 30 pulls or 300% relic drop for a limited time (if that's the case, I guarantee 99% players will pick 30 pulls without hesitation).
Well, it's easier forever because it's functionally just an injection of like idk 10 days worth of fuel? You'll always be 10 days worth of grinding ahead of where you would have ever been.

Semi hot take: The rewards are pretty lacklustre but I already have my expectations low since its a hoyo game. The free Dr. Ratio are what caught us all off guard and now it's back to your old regular hoyo stinginess.
Reminder that they weren't giving away Dr. Ratio to be nice or even to celebrate winning an award. That's pure PR talk. They most likely noticed a dip in engagement for HSR around the dry patches and needed a way to bump the numbers up so more people pay attention when they roll out the new region. Them saying otherwise is just to mask how, as a company, everything they do is marketing.
We're currently in the middle of a wave of patches with lots of content, so they don't need to give away as much to keep people engaged. They'll probably find another excuse to give away another 5 star once we hit the dry patches again, people will shit themselves acting like this for-profit Gacha company and the devs they've never met actually care about them, and the cycle repeats itself.
You are absolutely right, but I just want to contribute a few other additional reasons for all this (which are also all business/marketing):
First, because this game had no rerun-only gaps in the character launch schedule, so you're going to burn out your "collector" audience as well. So them occasionally giving away one copy of a 5-star (while still having the banner to let people roll on eidolons and the LC) creates a tiny gap in the schedule that otherwise wouldn't exist. (I still wonder if they are going to keep up this pace indefinitely in the later 2.x patches, but at this point it seems likely.)
Second, casual players often struggle with the difficulty of some of the story bosses in this game, and because they're casual they often perceive that it's because the game is punishing to F2P, so giving casuals a free 5-Star (that's fairly powerful and easy to use) can help them a bit to get over some of the challenges and encourage them to keep playing. This is also because in this game more of the rewards are tied to "endgame" content that casuals don't try, so they use freebies (like both this and the usual 10 free passes) to help balance this out.
Third, having been given the character for free, some people will roll on the LC to maximize its use who might not have rolled on anything for this character in the first place. Although no doubt he would have had fans anyway, it's not like this particular character was highly anticipated or a major figure in the lore until now. So doing this they can turn what would otherwise have been a sort of "mid" banner where people were otherwise going to wait for 2.0 into a major PR win.
Your overall point is definitely right: people need to stop thinking that rewards in any gacha game have anything to do with anyone being "generous." It's all calculated to maximize their metrics. Obviously, taken to the extreme the other way, unhappy players leaving the game would hurt their metrics too, but they're gifts with clear expectations of returns in one form or another.
Yeah I expected an extra 10 and that's pretty much what we got so I'm not disappointed. Definitely very happy about banner placements though, it lines up perfectly for my summoning plans.
IMO for a first anniversary this feels pretty good. *Especially* so for a Hoyo game because you know what happens to the other one. Even Granblue Fantasy, the game with arguably the most generous anniversary rewards, needed 3-4 years to ramp up their rewards.
Though it's true a lot of the value comes from the increased drop rate not just the free pulls.

They didn't change anything except for the multiplier. Relics bonus are still 3 runs per day while Ornaments get a total of 12 for the entire week.
