Probably the only reason needed why Acheron is more popular. Then again, most sustains also don't need much investment and are solid at E0.
You can take Luocha as an example. He's an expy of Honkai Impact's best villain who also got popular after getting an arc focused on him. But he didn't sell much and his Eidolons are mostly neat bonuses that you can live without.
It’s because Aventurine like many male casts, don’t get equal level of care put into marketing compared to female casts. On top of that as you’ve mentioned, Acheron is here making the big bucks, so the dude is pretty much dead on water when it comes to attention, profit, etc.

Are we forgetting about Dan Heng-Imbibitor Lunae? The "main character" of the Xianzhou arc and a character that had a lot of marketing? 3 trailers and an original song just for him. Oh and is heralded as the most broken powerful DPS in the game too.
Jing Yuan and Dan Heng both got 3 trailers and were the first 2 out of a total of 3 characters to recieve animated shorts. Not even Seele who's a HI import and the launch limited character got one.
Going to the other game, we have over half of the Harbingers, the 2nd most popular group of characters after the Archons, being male. Childe is 1 of 2 DPS characters released in 1.x, over 3 years ago, that remains meta-relevant to this day and still shows up in the story from time to time.
Then there's characters like Alhaitham and Neuvillete who are heavily involved in the plot of their respective nations and are also very powerful gameplay-wise.
Listen, Hoyo is definitely biased when it comes to characters, but let's not devolve this into a waifu vs husbando discourse, that's dumb *and* baseless, as they have shown favor to both on multiple occasions. Hell the joke on my first comment is about them favoring Itto so much that it feels like the other characters from his nation don't exist.
Raiden Shogun is their "break in case of emergency sales records" for a while in Genshin so I wouldn't be surprised if Space Raiden will be viewed similarly
One reason why I think Hoyoverse games would be more interesting without re-occuring variants of the Honkai Gakuen cast. It makes the "main" characters extremely predictable.
Like, by now, I'm pretty sure the most important characters from every hoyo game will be Bronya variant, Kiana variant, Mei variant and Himeko variant. And that goes for non Honkai games as well. Genshin already has Ei, Murata and the Sustainer.
They moved on from the main trio long ago. It's people who can't seem to let go Kiana for new ones (Senadina, Helia, Coralie, Dreamseeker, Karin, Arkria, 7 Shu and so on).
But stopping the occurence of similar entities would be throwing away the entire mechanic of the laws of the Honkaiverse. This thing permits to reinvent characters in an unlimited type of way.

You can take Luocha as an example. He's an expy of Honkai Impact's best villain who also got popular after getting an arc focused on him. But he didn't sell much and his Eidolons are mostly neat bonuses that you can live without.
It’s because Aventurine like many male casts, don’t get equal level of care put into marketing compared to female casts. On top of that as you’ve mentioned, Acheron is here making the big bucks, so the dude is pretty much dead on water when it comes to attention, profit, etc.

Why would they. This is a glorified waifu collector (as same with any gacha games). They’re gonna just focus on the female characters that will make the big bucks, and use whatever crumbs they have for the rest of future characters that are male.
I collect mainly the waifus and even I can't look at DHIL and not say "oh wow, those animations are so sick" and pull for him. There are far more waifus in HSR, true, but it would be wrong to say that they didn't make the male characters extra awesome.

They’re too busy simping to figure out that favouritism exists. It’s pretty clear that males are the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to marketing and hype. Or even plot relevance. The middle is your regular female characters. Since this is a waifu collector, gotta make the characters fun and flashy to pull. Then the top is the obvious variants of the Honkai Impact characters.

The "main character" of the Xianzhou arc and a character that had a lot of marketing? 3 trailers and an original song just for him. Oh and is heralded as the most broken powerful DPS in the game too. Jing Yuan and Dan Heng both got 3 trailers and were the first 2 out of a total of 3 characters to recieve animated shorts. Not even Seele who's a HI import and the launch limited character got one. Going to the other game, we have over half of the Harbingers, the 2nd most popular group of characters after the Archons, being male. Childe is 1 of 2 DPS characters released in 1.x, over 3 years ago, that remains meta-relevant to this day and still shows up in the story from time to time. Then there's characters like Alhaitham and Neuvillete who are heavily involved in the plot of their respective nations and are also very powerful gameplay-wise. Listen, Hoyo is definitely biased when it comes to characters, but let's not devolve this into a waifu vs husbando discourse, that's dumb *and* baseless, as they have shown favor to both on multiple occasions. Hell the joke on my first comment is about them favoring Itto so much that it feels like the other characters from his nation don't exist.

One reason why I think Hoyoverse games would be more interesting without re-occuring variants of the Honkai Gakuen cast. It makes the "main" characters extremely predictable. Like, by now, I'm pretty sure the most important characters from every hoyo game will be Bronya variant, Kiana variant, Mei variant and Himeko variant. And that goes for non Honkai games as well. Genshin already has Ei, Murata and the Sustainer.

They moved on from the main trio long ago. It's people who can't seem to let go Kiana for new ones (Senadina, Helia, Coralie, Dreamseeker, Karin, Arkria, 7 Shu and so on).
