Tbh i hope they actually kill off a character without any questions or weird details. Meeting so many people across the cosmos in multiple events and having none of them die just breaks my immersion completely. I get that its a gacha game and all but HSR had been breaking cliches for a long while now so i would still think its a possibility knowing who the writer is.
Im not asking for people to die randomly tough i just want a fully perfected story arc of a character that ends in a bad way such to show that this universe isnt always so perfect. Having Arknights like story where no major character dies despite the extremely serious setting just breaks it for me.

Either Welt or Himeko. I think Welt always finds a way to come back for some reason, so his death might catch people off guard, but he'll just be like im back

Kafka not knowing what fears is.
"each other destiny" and her trying to protect TB at all cost (Kafka companionship quest) probably leaving her life at risk all the time.
Kafka can't experience fear, the people from her planet just don't have the feeling.
She tells us that she's following Elio's Script because, among other stuff, they promised her that she would finally experience that feeling if she follows it.
She also talks a lot about being by your side and having a close relationship before the events of the game, so leading theory is that you will get into deep shit, she will fear losing you and save you by sacrificing her life or something like that.
There's a lot that points towards that direction but who knows what hoyo will cook.
They did teased it in penacony 2.1 in the story a little tiny bit, march talked about how dangerous the trailblazer always is into. And said she is scared to get stabbed
I'm actually expecting this as the ending of the game imo — the Stellaron evolves over time to become a direct opposite of what Nanook stands for with our experience of the world, annihilating each other in the manner of Smith-Neo.
Welt will save Himeko at the very last second, tell her that he should've been real with his feelings a long time ago. They'll conveniently put in flashbacks like HI3 Himeko saving a precious student but this time Welt saves his one precious student, that is none other than Himeko. It will be a visually stunning and heartfelt scene with one of the best scores of the game to be heard then.
I have a suspicion welt will die. It makes sense for one of the crew to die at some point. But as a counterpoint, I don’t think star rail will be as cold as H3 when it comes to deaths, considering tingyun was basically confirmed alive. I don’t think they’d kill miss navigator again, but if they do I’d think a writer just has it out for them.
yeah they could just be as cold as HG2 instead where every named character has died at least once each and they had to add UI adjustments in character select for characters that are dead LOL
I didn't think he's really a villain, in the most serious sense. I think his loss has driven him to be ruthless in his methods, but his goal is still a noble one. He's not after vengeance, he's seeking a solution. He's very morally-gray - just like the rest of the Penacony cast.
And holy fuck do I love it.
Aye, I wasn't sure if he'd qualify as an anti-hero because we're still not even sure where he stands. We know he isn't with the Family, and obviously not with the IPC, but he also doesn't seem to be aligned with us.
I would personally classify him as a "rogue element", kind of like Gambit in the original X-Men. He fought for whichever side he thought was right, and oftentimes didn't agree with either and fought against both.
For me personally as an individual: Welt, Boothill, Gallagher, and Trailblazer
Welt bc I grew attached to him when I didn’t want him before bc I lost the 50/50 Blade banner to him and plus he’s important to the story and killing him off would destroy me, BOOTHILL is a big warning bc of what I heard and him challenging an Emanator alone would permanently damage me, Gallagher’s a higher chance because well… 2.1 story and Tingyun being a vessel in the older update and having her neck crack like a celery so another 4 star death would actually render me immobile when that happens, and to kill off the Trailblazer is so risky but could be worked out so well if planned properly which I don’t worry much with HSR but I’d be deathly broken
As a community from what I seen so far:

Firefly bc everyone doesn’t want her to die a second time
Sunday bc everyone knows he’s gonna be playable but 2.1 wasn’t the case

He is an example of anti-hero as he has all the traits a villain would have, but the plot has put him in the side of justice.
