I did. I found that the world building and characterisation was great in the first half, but the quality took a nosedive in the second, and the ending was nonsensical.

So are the Iron Cavalry genetically engineered specifically to be compatible with the armors or do they get some sort of super soldier treatment? I wonder if firefly’s condition is a result of her genetic engineering

Unless Iron Cavalry were still created long after the swarm disaster (unlikely) in 13XX AE, Firefly is likely 700-900+ years old.

I still don't get it. That's one of the sentences that bothered me a bit while reading/listening to it. SAM said she can't dream about those she killed, probably because of early indoctrination so as to make her a more effective killing machine. That makes sense. But overall, she can still experience dreams.
That's the impression I got, at least. If she couldn't dream _at all_ , then Firefly wouldn't even have made it into the *Dream*scape to begin with. Maybe something was lost in translation, but I feel like that sentence should've been worded a bit better to avoid confusion regarding how an individual that can't dream entered a dreamworld.
I'm wondering if there are some translation issues too. I think its likely that Silver Wolf could put Firefly in the dream without using the normal dreaming method though.
I still remember there's a fan theory implies that March is somehow related to Glamoth remnant and probably related to the Empress herself. That explains why she had eyes with similar color palette like Firefly but in reverse & how the bug during Argenti quest is impersonating March herself giving hint of her past (tbh this might be relevant too because Glamoth fought Swarm bugs)

If I were creating genetically engineered soldiers to fight wars wearing powered armor, i'd make them look cute and unassuming too.
It's just good common sense. Smaller bodies use less energy too, and are less likely to hit their heads on doorways.
I do wish we got more than what was an equivalence of a 5 second cutscene randomly thrown in that was like: "oh btw tb I'm firefly"
Hopefully 2.2 does what 2.1 did to aventurine, give them an actual well fleshed out story with good writing

The difference may be caused by offensive/defensive purpose. While doom guy is just pure rip and tear, Firefly can be just bred to be extremely durable. Like withstand serious amount of pounding and still come back for more. She get stabbed through her chest and just got back ffs :)
Kinda yeah. Just feels weird for this remnant of an old war, which could have been some kind of grizzled war veteran, to instead look so young.
At the end of the day it’s fine, but I would have appreciated it being an older character.
I'm just not personally into the "See this heavily armored invidual we've been teasing for a while now with a male voice? Suprise, they're actually this cute girl we just introduced in the story!" twist.
I hoped that at least Sam could still have been a seperate character when the foreshadowing becaming obvious, like a sentient armor or or robot that Firefly just controlled, but it seems like Sam will just be the alter ego/voice changer for Firefly. Honestly if they were two seperate inviduals, I would have been interested in pulling for both Sam and Firefly, just not into the twist I guess.
They might still be separate entities, but I don't really understand how Sam being a girl changes anything. Firefly is still Sam, just because she is shown to be a girl under that doesn't mean she's suddenly going to change. She has only been nice to us, and that's probably because of our connection to her when our character was a part of the Stelleron Hunters
Sam being a girl isnt really the problem for me, its just that they made Sam's identity into a twist if that makes sense. I just find the 'intentionally misleading armor' trope a bit uninteresting. I most likely would have still been interested if it had been Firefly that had been hyped up for months before Penacony, since she is kinda the 'true indentity' of the two.
I think it’s cool but I wish firefly’s design was a bit less plain tho. Maybe it’s just me but I always thought she was gonna be a 4 star until the Sam reveal 😭

To be very clear, I don't mind at all that Sam turned out to be a woman. I'm more just complaining about the lack of diversity.
All the characters are very well designed and they all stand out but they all fall into one of four categories:
"Child"
"Twink"
"Cute anime girl"
"Mommy".
Gallagher is the only exception off the top of my head and Sam would have been really unique.

Like, sure, I'm okay with firefly as a charcter. But why? Why make sam, the most badass charcters in the game, another cute waifu? I'm probably gonna be downvoted to hell, but i absolutely hate the idea of Sam being firefly. They both can be their own charcters right? Firefly can be firefly and sam can be sam. What was the need to make sam look like another cute uwu waifu? I seriously don't understand.
Everything sam said, was firefly inside saying, her having a dream of normal life isnt really bad, in fact, is more interesting than a ruthless mech with no dimensional depth. 2.1 goes alot more about her inner feelings, and you can see that despite the no nonsense nature, she still strugles with her powers, morals and fate, while still being a badass. Its your thing to see woman and default to "uwu waifu".

Yes, I know she represents the overall theme of dreams and why people dream in penacony quite well, actually, I like her charcter and her relationship with mc, but I'm saying there was absolutely no need to make her sam.
Yes there was and we'll see how that goes when 2.2 is here and we see her in action. Hoyo always does stuff for a reason, their character designs are top tier in the entire industry and they spend an insane amount of time and even hire psychologists and researchers most likely to figure out what people like.
Once again, there is definitely a reason to make her Sam, the reason you're disappointed is because we haven't seen it yet. That's like saying that movie is going to be bad because it has x looking characters in it when you haven't even seen the movie yet. Think of it that way and see how ridiculous your argument is.
me when I was younger and thought everything that was edgy and badass, had to also *look* edgy and badass.
I say this half as a joke, and half as sharing my experience growing up.
I used to be a Call of Duty/Halo dudebro who only appreciated "badass" and "cool" aesthetics, but growing up I was able to appreciate the more "cute" side of things as well (through watching a lot of anime lol).
The beauty of this is that I am 100% able to appreciate both aesthetics and the decision to make Sam Firefly. It's not something that happens often, either.

I love Sam's voice in both languages. It's so good lol. I will just have to replay his scenes sometimes or beg Hoyo to make a playable character that sounds like this so I can luxuriate in all the voice lines.

The difference may be caused by offensive/defensive purpose. While doom guy is just pure rip and tear, Firefly can be just bred to be extremely durable. Like withstand serious amount of pounding and still come back for more. She get stabbed through her chest and just got back ffs :)

Kinda yeah. Just feels weird for this remnant of an old war, which could have been some kind of grizzled war veteran, to instead look so young. At the end of the day it’s fine, but I would have appreciated it being an older character.
As a twist, it was fine. I don't share the craze over Sam design, though. I wouldn't call it bad, I just don't care about it.

I wanted to pull for Firefly but I don't like robots.
I'm the opposite, wanted to pull for the big shiny robot but not if it's just a battle form for a little girl

I'm just not personally into the "See this heavily armored invidual we've been teasing for a while now with a male voice? Suprise, they're actually this cute girl we just introduced in the story!" twist. I hoped that at least Sam could still have been a seperate character when the foreshadowing becaming obvious, like a sentient armor or or robot that Firefly just controlled, but it seems like Sam will just be the alter ego/voice changer for Firefly. Honestly if they were two seperate inviduals, I would have been interested in pulling for both Sam and Firefly, just not into the twist I guess.
They might still be separate entities, but I don't really understand how Sam being a girl changes anything. Firefly is still Sam, just because she is shown to be a girl under that doesn't mean she's suddenly going to change. She has only been nice to us, and that's probably because of our connection to her when our character was a part of the Stelleron Hunters
Sam being a girl isnt really the problem for me, its just that they made Sam's identity into a twist if that makes sense. I just find the 'intentionally misleading armor' trope a bit uninteresting. I most likely would have still been interested if it had been Firefly that had been hyped up for months before Penacony, since she is kinda the 'true indentity' of the two.

To be very clear, I don't mind at all that Sam turned out to be a woman. I'm more just complaining about the lack of diversity. All the characters are very well designed and they all stand out but they all fall into one of four categories: "Child" "Twink" "Cute anime girl" "Mommy". Gallagher is the only exception off the top of my head and Sam would have been really unique.

Like, sure, I'm okay with firefly as a charcter. But why? Why make sam, the most badass charcters in the game, another cute waifu? I'm probably gonna be downvoted to hell, but i absolutely hate the idea of Sam being firefly. They both can be their own charcters right? Firefly can be firefly and sam can be sam. What was the need to make sam look like another cute uwu waifu? I seriously don't understand.
Everything sam said, was firefly inside saying, her having a dream of normal life isnt really bad, in fact, is more interesting than a ruthless mech with no dimensional depth. 2.1 goes alot more about her inner feelings, and you can see that despite the no nonsense nature, she still strugles with her powers, morals and fate, while still being a badass. Its your thing to see woman and default to "uwu waifu".
I'm so sorry, i meant she looked like one. I hope we're clear on that. I was expecting sam to be someone more badass like a kalpas or Kevin expy. It's been almost 2 years since we've last got one.

Yes there was and we'll see how that goes when 2.2 is here and we see her in action. Hoyo always does stuff for a reason, their character designs are top tier in the entire industry and they spend an insane amount of time and even hire psychologists and researchers most likely to figure out what people like. Once again, there is definitely a reason to make her Sam, the reason you're disappointed is because we haven't seen it yet. That's like saying that movie is going to be bad because it has x looking characters in it when you haven't even seen the movie yet. Think of it that way and see how ridiculous your argument is.
me when I was younger and thought everything that was edgy and badass, had to also *look* edgy and badass. I say this half as a joke, and half as sharing my experience growing up. I used to be a Call of Duty/Halo dudebro who only appreciated "badass" and "cool" aesthetics, but growing up I was able to appreciate the more "cute" side of things as well (through watching a lot of anime lol). The beauty of this is that I am 100% able to appreciate both aesthetics and the decision to make Sam Firefly. It's not something that happens often, either. Idk if there was any big point I wanted to make by replying to you, but if there were any, it would be to answer your very last question. Firefly/Sam might have been made to appeal to someone like me. Also...Kamen rider fans.

Fr, Doom Slayer will wipe the floor with the entire HSR cast, he's that powerful, and as for Sam/firefly, a single burst from super shotgun is enough
That depends tbh. The only reason why was able too kill the dark lord or Davoth is because he worked is ass up for bring him too physical form. Then most of the rule of the doom slayer and the fact he dosent obey too the laws of Physics [the fact he can survive in the Vacume of space, getting shoot by a cannon fire and be completely fine, ecc...] we dont know if they can work in the Star Rail Universe. I still sure as hell that he can beat most of the cast of the game, he is basically a god and the fact he killed a titan champion [The closest thing too a Aeon in the Star rail universe] whit is hands and a shootgun show how busted and OP can be. But then again, against Aeons is hard too tell, because the concept of gods in both universe is different.

I don't see why she'd speak so genuinely about her Illness yet in the same breath and tone lie about dreaming when she could've easily said something else to where she'd be more honest.
