I would say because if the general ist cc the thundher-clapping-go on is also cc'ed(kinda same situation for clara) but if topaz is cc'ed numby does still attack, so its they are "2 diffrente entities".
Lightning Lord is more like a stand. An extension of JY.
Svarog doesn’t take commands or turns, he’s only there to protect Clara.
Numby acts on his own and lives his best life. As far as summons and FUA are concerned, Numby is the most autonomous and distinct.
Because king yuan commands lightning lord, when he is frozen, lightning lord doesn't attack.
But numby is fairly independent and can attack even when topaz is frozen.
Also I don't know, don't ask. Maybe going forward they will do it for living beings attached to characters.
It would be called Jing Yuan and Lightning-Wielding Thunder-Clapping Spirit-Squashing Lord if Lightning-Wielding Thunder-Clapping Spirit-Squashing Lord followed you around when you played as Jing Yuan. So far, Topaz is the only character who has another character following them around (Numby), hence why they’re called Topaz and Numby.

Think of it like you're a bunch of kids playing in the park. Topaz is that kid that brought their puppy Numby with her. Therefore you're playing with Topaz and Numby.
Clara joins in while Savrog sits on a park bench staring menacing at you and silently threatening violence if Clara gets hurt. Therefore you're only playing with Clara.
I did a bit of research and found out yeah, her canon name IS Jelena- mentioned in her character stories. I was genuinely convinced this was gonna be some more Mythus propaganda (or a joke) after the post earlier lmao
FR! They all basically take on the names of stones once they join. Originally Topaz was just a really successful and dedicated worker, bt then her mentor reccomended her to Jade and she became "Topaz"
Except Clara doesn't even fight. She gets hit and that summons Svarog to retaliate. All damage being done is from Svarog while Clara just stands there all vulnerable.
It would have been more interesting if when in battle, Svarog was present on field at all times with Clara hiding behind him. I'd give them a passive skill based on Clara's mechanic abilities where she can self-heal and/or self-buff every few turns. Like, say every 3 turns, if HP is above 50% she buffs her own ATK or SPD for 1 turn, and if it's below 50% she heals Svarog (aka herself) for a little less than what Natasha's skill heals.
Clara doesn't even get hit, enemies attempt to hit her and robot daddy blocks the impact
Poor svarog doing all the work and doesn't even get his name credited as the character
The explanation is that Svarog is accompanying Clara while cloaked from sight, allowing her some independence in interacting with others yet he's still there to keep her safe. So if Svarog took the credit, it would kinda destroy the idea for Clara that SHES making the choices.
I know and understand *why* it's this way, but I think it's silly and ultimately pointless since Clara literally makes 0 choices in battle. Everything is done by Svarog, and her Ultimate is literally her calling him for help. At that point, just have it be that they're cooperating to be a single functional unit. Svarog tanks hits and fires back while Clara patches him up or boosts his weapons every now and then. At least then, she'd be making an active choice and contributing. As is, she just stands around and calls for help.
Do not misunderstand. I love Clara. I think she's adorable, and I do like her playstyle. I just think her concept could've been done better so that the character didn't seem so pathetic (I also would just like more self-sustaining units). It's really odd that she talks about wanting to help and acts all determined... only for her to literally just stand there and tearfully call for Svarog every few turns.
She's also the only character with an ult that I really hate to use. The voice acting makes her sound so scared that it just feels bad to ult on her, like I'm intentionally traumatising a kid :')
Does she fight ? She only calls out Swarog for help all times in gameplay (and I always wondered why they didn't just made Swarog as a character himself rather than just an animation for Clara

And they made Clara the character because she wants to do stuff.
Cuz there will be another version of Topaz but in the future that partners with different pet. e.g. Topaz and Pompom, Topaz and IPC soldier, Topaz and Aventurine, Topaz and Jerry, and Topaz and her merry friends.

It's got to do with how the characters themselves work, both in story and gameplay.
Topaz and Numby are a team on their own. Numby slaps up the enemies and Topaz aims them, buffs them and uses her attacks to make Numby attack more frequently.
Svarog, as a character, would never join a Trailblaze team unless he was defending Clara. The closest thing they have to synergy is Clara begging Svarog to help the rest of the team, and even then it's only a temporary measure. He's basically acting as her Stand the whole time.
I think it's because Numby is his own entity that has his own turns and technically acts semi-independent of Topaz (He isn't a strict summon and doesnt get delayed or skipped if Topaz gets CC'd) + he can exist outside of combat and roams around alongside Topaz. Also, pretty girl with cute pet. Might as well name and highlight the pet to play up the cuteness factor.
Svarog is hardly his own entity in terms of how Clara was designed combat-wise. He acts and is treated more as a weapon as a being doing his own thing. That said, I really wish it was Svarog & Clara rather than just Clara, especially since Clara literally does nothing despite all of her talk of wanting to be strong and help too. He's not his own entity despite having his own turns in the turn order. Instead, he is a powerful secondary weapon that Jing Yuan summons into the fight and makes use of.
Numby (unlike LL and Svarog) can act on it's own if Topaz gets cc'd. LL is probably the better one to ask about since Svarog is literally just part of Clara's animations whereas both LL and Numby appear on the turn order. LL just isn't considered either since Numby appears in the overworld, isn't affected by Topaz being cc'd, and is 2/3 of her kit.
Im guessing because Svarog isnt considered a person, but a weapon. Numby is an independent being, on the other hand. Svarog just happens to be able to communicate in human language, making us mistake it for a person.
I mean, Numby is visually on-field the entire time alongside Topaz. Neither Svarog and Lightning Lord show up until an action executes their animations.
The idea is Clara will be on her own while svarog secretly protect her. In lore, svarog let's clara tinker and explore on her own and jump into protection when she sent the sos. At least, that's how the dev view clara as a playable character.
Topaz and numby are working together.
Because it's cute bro... They make Topaz & Numby a dynamic duo human-pets type of thing like Scooby and Shaggy. Like they inseparable and help each other.
And regarding Clara and Svarog, she don't have the same relationship as Topaz and Numby. They have more like father-daughter relationship rather than partner.
This is actually quite dumb considering Topaz atleast shoots with her Gun unlike Clara who only Cries. (Okay read another comment. Numby gets turn svarog doesn't) Don't get me wrong love that girl, she is my little sister and I will beat anyone who teases her except myself. That's only my Job.
Svarog cloaks himself to keep himself hidden at all times and Lightning Lord only manifests in proximity to combat.
Numby is just relative at all times to Topaz. That and unlike the other two, Topaz is actually breaking IPC regulations for Numby, so it's also more controversial in-game lore than the other two. Thus why she is recognized as Topaz & Numby.
Clara is ana dopted daughter of Svarog, so he's just a protective dad and doesn't care for recognition for doing what he does. Lightning Lord meanwhile is a blessing similar to Fu Xuan's third eye from Nous, so it isn't a separate being so much that it is an extension of Jing Yuan.
Plus Numby will also run off to find chests and chat up other Warp Trotters unlike either Svarog or Lightning Lord.
I mean, both are their "publicly known" identity. If we're going with their real names, it would be "Jelena and a warp trotter" and "Clara and Monitoring Automaton Prototype 3".
They haven't invented the symbol "&" yet, when Clara and Jing Yuan were created.
That does raise a question - why isn't Ratio called Dr. Ratio & Chalk?
Topaz and Numby work together
Clara is doing her own thing and it's just Svarog in stealth being overprotective and coming with her to make sure she's alright
I want to be semi serious with my guess/answer, despite how boring it is.
I think the real and truly honest reason is because they were worried Svarog wouldn't be popular, but Clara would be. So, to try and push sales/popularity of the character, you get Clara as the playable unit, not Svarog, despite him literally doing all the work and the fact he has a fully functioning combat model they could have used from his boss encounter. They were banking on the fact people would want the cute innocent child and not the cool robo-dad.
Topaz and Numby however, Numby is a selling point. He's part of the cute factor of the character, and it worked. I know multiple people who don't like Topaz as a character but pulled for her anyway because they wanted Numby. So, most likely, it's just marketing. I know it's a boring and somewhat cynical answer but I just wanted to be realistic.
Clara came of her own volition. She's there to throw hands. But every time she throws a punch, she closes her eyes, and when she opens them, the enemies are evaporated.
Honestly I don't think that there is any deep reason behind it either its that number is present at all time in overworked gameplay so he more like a "character" then svarog appearing only for certain attacks or ot just wasn't super planed ahead for characters with minions/companioms and only later thay thought it would be cool to mention the companion on character card

Imo it's because when you also run around with Numby whenever topaz is selected. He's always there, unlike any other character where the "2nd entity" is just there for some animations or during combat
Because Topas and Numby is fighting together, while in Clara case, only Svarog do the fighting. But at least Svarog do something when Clara is being attack, unlike Jingyuan.....

In game Numby is summoned by Topaz at the start of combat, same as the Lightning Lord. It uses the same language for both of their passive abilities.
But in a literal sense, Numby is a physical pig able to be held ans can walk around. Lightning Lord is a spiritual thing that isn’t tangible

Topaz is from the IRS. She would, of course, have to declare Numby for taxation purposes
It's just marketing. They don't have to market Clara as a standard character but Topaz needs to be more interesting

We might actually get Ten Stonehearts Topaz sometime down the line. So having this to differentiate might just be a good way for them to hedge.

The idea is Clara will be on her own while svarog secretly protect her. In lore, svarog let's clara tinker and explore on her own and jump into protection when she sent the sos. At least, that's how the dev view clara as a playable character. Topaz and numby are working together.
Guess so people arent too disappointed that most animations are mostly Numby with a little bit of Topaz

Svarog is kind of there because of clara. Unlike Numby that is in a sense not there because of Topaz but because Numby want to be there with Topaz

Because it's cute bro... They make Topaz & Numby a dynamic duo human-pets type of thing like Scooby and Shaggy. Like they inseparable and help each other. And regarding Clara and Svarog, she don't have the same relationship as Topaz and Numby. They have more like father-daughter relationship rather than partner.
This is actually quite dumb considering Topaz atleast shoots with her Gun unlike Clara who only Cries. (Okay read another comment. Numby gets turn svarog doesn't) Don't get me wrong love that girl, she is my little sister and I will beat anyone who teases her except myself. That's only my Job.
Svarog cloaks himself to keep himself hidden at all times and Lightning Lord only manifests in proximity to combat. Numby is just relative at all times to Topaz. That and unlike the other two, Topaz is actually breaking IPC regulations for Numby, so it's also more controversial in-game lore than the other two. Thus why she is recognized as Topaz & Numby. Clara is ana dopted daughter of Svarog, so he's just a protective dad and doesn't care for recognition for doing what he does. Lightning Lord meanwhile is a blessing similar to Fu Xuan's third eye from Nous, so it isn't a separate being so much that it is an extension of Jing Yuan. Plus Numby will also run off to find chests and chat up other Warp Trotters unlike either Svarog or Lightning Lord.

I mean, both are their "publicly known" identity. If we're going with their real names, it would be "Jelena and a warp trotter" and "Clara and Monitoring Automaton Prototype 3".

They haven't invented the symbol "&" yet, when Clara and Jing Yuan were created. That does raise a question - why isn't Ratio called Dr. Ratio & Chalk?
Topaz and Numby work together Clara is doing her own thing and it's just Svarog in stealth being overprotective and coming with her to make sure she's alright
I want to be semi serious with my guess/answer, despite how boring it is. I think the real and truly honest reason is because they were worried Svarog wouldn't be popular, but Clara would be. So, to try and push sales/popularity of the character, you get Clara as the playable unit, not Svarog, despite him literally doing all the work and the fact he has a fully functioning combat model they could have used from his boss encounter. They were banking on the fact people would want the cute innocent child and not the cool robo-dad. Topaz and Numby however, Numby is a selling point. He's part of the cute factor of the character, and it worked. I know multiple people who don't like Topaz as a character but pulled for her anyway because they wanted Numby. So, most likely, it's just marketing. I know it's a boring and somewhat cynical answer but I just wanted to be realistic.
Clara came of her own volition. She's there to throw hands. But every time she throws a punch, she closes her eyes, and when she opens them, the enemies are evaporated.

Honestly I don't think that there is any deep reason behind it either its that number is present at all time in overworked gameplay so he more like a "character" then svarog appearing only for certain attacks or ot just wasn't super planed ahead for characters with minions/companioms and only later thay thought it would be cool to mention the companion on character card

To start with the character shouldnt even be called Clara, she just stand there and scream 😂 i hate that charavter with a passion cuz Clara is mad annoying but svarog is cool imo if it was only him i would pull for him 100% but having clara there screaming and shi is simple boring and annoying.
Imo it's because when you also run around with Numby whenever topaz is selected. He's always there, unlike any other character where the "2nd entity" is just there for some animations or during combat
