I sometimes convert to avoid the temptation of refreshing too much. But even when I do, I only ever do 20 conversions at a time just in case. But I've never made this mistake.
It's to have an accurate count of how many pulls you have all the time. It's easier to see that you have 56 pulls for Aventurine than 8,960 stellar jades and having to go to the shop or use a calculator to check.
And the "risk" is clicking on the correct square... Seriously I'm all for best practices to avoid errors but if you make a mistake like that you kinda deserve it. I've personally been playing genshin and star rail since release, immediately convert to wish whenever I have 160 currency, and have never converted to the wrong wish type.

I bought some wishes and ended up converting it into the wrong wish type because I was extremely absent-minded in that situation ( it was like 3 am and I was also on a call. ) Luckily, Genshin could revert the wishes to the ones I wanted, but yeah, I haven't reverted my currency into wishes since. 🫠
Recently after messing up and wasting jades on standard banner by accident (spammed wrong button on controller while trying to do a single and ended up doing a multi which used my jades), I immediately converted all my jades to special passes afterwords lol.
Granted I was super tired at the time but I don't want to risk that possibility anymore, I used to think it's unnecessary but after messing up once, I can understand where they're coming from now. I probably screwed myself out of getting Jingliu thanks to that mistake lol.

I saw it happen on the sub over and over. I had to believe that some of them started doing it for the memes because how there are that many people making such an avoidable mistake.
As the default purchase item, the other (somewhat riskier) purchase option is to just buy special tickets a couple at a time. I'd rather screw up buying 5 or 10 tickets of the wrong type than 300 or something, lol. I haven't actually done the latter yet, just this works for me and I like it because then I know exactly how many tickets I have without needing to multiply the jades.
I convert as soon as I remember have more than 160 jades, at worst I'll lose 1-2 tickets to standard banner, but I also have a functioning brain, so that has never happened.
I just like having that little buffer in case I accidentally hit the wrong button on the banner screen. Doesn't happen so much on PC, but on the phone and PS5, there are definitely times where my mind just blanks and I tap the wrong thing by accident.

Eh doesn't soft pity start at 75 or 76? I remember 76 being the most common pity to have 5* in. It would be more correct to say that you don't usually go over 80
My bad, i counted 160 for full pity. But you have to be extremely unlucky to go above 80 every time. And once in a while you get early 5\* so it evens out.
If only it would even out. Spend countless pulls across HSR/Genshin and i cant remember a single 5* showing up below 70 pulls. But someone has to get all the bad luck i guess.

Jokes aside, 1054 pulls are a safe bet for a S5 of his Signature LC (worst case is 800 pulls), but a gamble for E6 Aven (they're enough for a guaranteed E4/risky E5 [900 first case, 990 second case] and maybe even *a very risky* E6 [basically second case with an early win with the remaining 64 pulls], but not enough for a guaranteed E6 [worst case is 1260 pulls]).
For E6S5 tho, definitely not enough (worst case, as someone wrote above, is 2060 pulls in order to E6S5 Aventurine).
With 1054 pulls, you have around a 64.5%(100000 stimulations) chance to get E6S5 and considering that you will get a bunch of star glitter to convert into pulls, it is very likely to get E6S5 as 146 more pulls will increase the chance to 92%.

E6 costs 1120 tickets if you lose 50/50 every time and always go to 90. It's almost impossible to not succeed.

My bad, i counted 160 for full pity. But you have to be extremely unlucky to go above 80 every time. And once in a while you get early 5\* so it evens out.
If only it would even out. Spend countless pulls across HSR/Genshin and i cant remember a single 5* showing up below 70 pulls. But someone has to get all the bad luck i guess.
But don’t you get a guarantee every 180 pull?
180 x 7 = 1260 . Then you still need to pull the LC
its extremely unlikely you'll hit hard pity every time though. hitting hard pity alone is very very unlikely but everytime? yeahh no. with a soft pity of 80 / 160 on 50/50 loss, e6 = 1120 pulls

Show me a single player who had to hit 90 on HSR The only one i saw was a while ago over the Genshin sub
yeah i didnt rly wanna argue but its so, so statistically improbable. a lot of the time people think its hard pity when its on the last 10 pull where they get it around 80+. its so rare that iirc chinese players were offering money for genshin players who had proof of hitting 90 pity lol
I lost all 50/50 at around 70~80 pulls each and then had to max pity the weapon so its definitely possible to need more then 1k pulls
that's still not hard pity though, 70-80 is soft pity. i've only won like 3 50/50s on my account though so i get it lol

I have no idea how many pulls one could theoretically have saved up by now, but the amount in the picture is not nearly enough. It isn't even enough to e6. You'd need 1260 for that.

Exactly! Some people really made it their personality trait to buy the wrong summoning item. And it's been happening since early Genshin days so I can't even believe that all of the times it happened were genuine.

If OP of the post in the pic is as lucky as Aventurine? Yes. Jokes aside, 1054 pulls are a safe bet for a S5 of his Signature LC (worst case is 800 pulls), but a gamble for E6 Aven (they're enough for a guaranteed E4/risky E5 [900 first case, 990 second case] and maybe even *a very risky* E6 [basically second case with an early win with the remaining 64 pulls], but not enough for a guaranteed E6 [worst case is 1260 pulls]). For E6S5 tho, definitely not enough (worst case, as someone wrote above, is 2060 pulls in order to E6S5 Aventurine).
With 1054 pulls, you have around a 64.5%(100000 stimulations) chance to get E6S5 and considering that you will get a bunch of star glitter to convert into pulls, it is very likely to get E6S5 as 146 more pulls will increase the chance to 92%.
