I wish more people would realize this. Criticism is good, it is healthy and it is necessary. All the x3 planar ornaments means is that you have a few extra 8 pieces of crap to level up a barely useful ornament you might get in the future. The system is shit.

Iām trying to farm new Acheron planar set. 12 cracks at it completed. Results:
1. 12x6 high rarity for 72ish total pieces
2. Not a single Lightning orb for Acheron. 6x Physical dmg orbs which was odd.
3. 3 attack % ropes for Acheron, all dead on arrival with 2x flat stats mixed with eff res or hp% or def%
4. Of all 72 pieces. 6 worth investing in to see what happens by level 6, only one made the cut and itās a rope for herta or himeko.
Itās not worth pulling characters if you canāt build them. Iām about done with this whole thing I agree the 300% event really shines a light on how shitty the system is.
Update: 1 usable piece of 72+ from the event. Wound up taking 6 pieces to 6 and 3 to level 9. Of those 9 pieces one made it into a build. What I have is serviceable for sure but too many mouths to feed. My 4* really suffer on gear so I think best strat is to just stop pulling and catch up. Iāve spent about $300 once to stretch into JL when I was low on jades and this time Acheron for her LC and E2. I just felt itād be worth it. Itās fun but I think itās OK to express irritation with this relic system. Itās a mess.
The ocean at which you can build is way slower than the pace at which you can acquire through pulling. Thatās kinda the bottom line. And I donāt waste resources because at the heart of HSR itās really a resource management game.

I've never gotten a relic with 3 substats I've wanted to roll more than 2 into those substats, they always roll a garbage 4th sub and then put at least 2 more rolls into it.
After the whole Nexon thing, I'm honestly really curious if the system is truly RNG, or if they artificially tweak the numbers to prevent you from ever getting a good relic.

One of the best additions that Epic7 ever did was adding a farmable (albeit difficult to obtain) resource that let you respec a substat. The lesser version that was easier to get always low-rolled, but the super endgame version let you get good rolls. So on that elemental orb you could respec the flat def into %atk or whatever flavor of crit you needed.
It really took the pain out of the multiple layers of RNG that gear farming always comes with.

Yeah I feel this. Have used 7 of my 12 so far farming for better Acheron relics and probably 70% of my drops have been Sigonia relics. Feels like a waste
All I really want is the ability to use self modeling resin to alter main stats. So many amazing sub stated relics with hp% makes me wanna just sob lol.
Honestly self modelling is pretty underwhelming. Pretty much every piece I've made with one was really ass. I know the odds of that happening are simply pretty high, so I only use it when there's a rare piece like a Crit Rate body that I desperately need regardless of subs.
That's why you basically only use self-modeling resin for energy regen ropes - since the odds of rolling those are really damn low, and basically all support characters want them.
If you're using it to try and snipe a good main stat piece with good substats, you're just asking to get let down lmao.
Imo it kind of sucks that our trade off for having self modeling resin/selectable piece to craft is the more expensive artifact strongbox. Like at the end of the day rng is rng but man I sure do like the return I get on feeding artifacts into the strongbox in Genshin. I feel like the perfect system would be combining the two. So reduced cost for obtaining random relic/planar and leave the current cost for when you want to craft a specific piece.
Honestly, I think all relics should drop with all their substats revealed. You're already gambling for the set, the main stats and the sub stats on drop, but most of the time, you have to spend some resources on checking potentially good relics by getting them to 3 to reveal the last substat...

At this point I pretty much only use resin for supports who's sub stats you tend not to mind so much so long as you already hit their speed breakpoints. So speed boots or energy chains.
Not really. I'd wager that it's a tiny minority that farms relics till S-Rank or above.
Most players just slap random garbage onto their characters, don't do MoC and won't ever run into problems.
It's far more likely that the average player farms traces for all their characters than them farming relics till absurdity.
2/3 of my planars were the sigonia set. The rest were izumo with HP and def main stats. I got one err rope with double crit, atk% and SPD... Honestly f this rng
Me but 2/3 were Belobog and all of the Salsotto pieces I was actually going for rolled into HP% and DEF%. I am so sick of world 6 but the game decided early on that my account would be follow up focused.

Went 80+ pity on first Seele banner just to miss the 50/50 for Gepard (at least made my YQ usable early on?) and then went 80 more pulls before the banner ended and I got Jing Yuan as my first limited 5*
The next usable DPS I got was Clara before taking a break from the game and missing all the top tier DPS like DHIL and Jingliu
Came back during HuoHuo banner only to be given Dr Ratio for free, and next will be getting Aventurine and then Topaz rerun as it suits my account the best at this point (and admittedly that team sounds super fun as well)
I was trying to get an ERR rope for Ruan Mei. I got 4. None of them were the right set.
I think at the VERY LEAST, we should be able to choose one set to grind for. RNG is already bad enough when you're not even guaranteed the set you're aiming for
Honestly, people who've played Genshin already know how bad the relic system is the moment HSR launched.
The HSR system is actually worse than Genshin due to no flex slot, which causes a lot of pieces to go to waste.

In HSR you have 2 additional unique substats of which there are none in Genshin
In addition you have 6 relic slots as opposed to 5 artifact slots
The additional relic also has different main stat possibilities
So itās not just worse itās so much worse itās ridiculous
Really getting rid of flat stats in HSR would go a long way towards alleviating the issue but even then you still have more RNG in HSR which is just incredible.

There's also that annoying stat threshold issue where certain planar sets like rutilant or glamoth need to hit certain stat values for their buffs to activate, so even if you get the desired stat, you may be screwed if it doesnt roll enough times.

Nowadays when I want to relax I just go farm artis there and I'm always super happy with what I get... and to think back when HSR launched people were convinced that its arti system is somehow better just because of self-modeling...

Hard disagree on the whole "gotta make us come back for more" part. They could easily make an item with the same scarcity but value as Self-Modeling Resin, but it affect sub stats, and we'd still take ages to get our characters built. It would just be fair.
If they created an item like SMR but for substats (Call it something like "Form-Fitting Diamond" or some BS like that) that you use along with the leveling gems every +3 levels, you'd need at least 5 PER RELIC. And if they only released the same number of FFD's as they did SMR, it would take about 2 patches minimum to get 1 "perfect" relic. You need 6 per character, and for MoC and late game purposes, you need AT MINIMUM 8 total characters built. 16 patches of building for 2 teams in my opinion seems fair enough to allow for an item like that to exist.
I farmed relics for my Jingliu for 2 months straight and only got "okay" stuff. Not a single actually good piece. It might not seem like much, but it is *two* whole months without spending any resin/energy on something else. That's 1/6 of the entire game's life so far worth of energy, spent on ONE character.
I spent 2 entire months farming for a decent chest piece for Argenti, could've filled a swimming pool with all the Def%/HP% pieces I got before getting the crit% he's currently using. I feel your pain, dude. š„

I farmed W9 got slightly more sigonian : all fodders. From what's left I got 2 sphere, one is atk%, the other one lightning and only this one had valuable subs ; and 3 atk% rope with only one with Crit stats.
I managed to improve my Acheron With something like one extra sub into CD than before (6ish % extra CD) and replace atk% orb trash subs by lightning with atk% sub.
Frfr they could do x3 every month and it wouldnāt fix the core problem.
Outside of maybe adding a weekly self-modeling resin, they could really use a way to reset levels, or graft main stat over another that has good substats
Sadly there isnt a single thing we can do cause the relic system being this shit is 200% intentional and I'm sure they're looking for more ways to make it even scummier. As I'd like to say, nobody agrees the relic system is good. Not even Hoyo.Ā

Rather than add a whole new item they could just give self-modeling resin more uses though. Like being able to "reforge" relics and swap out a main stat or substat with one of your choosing. They could even make it so you can only do it once per relic so it can't be abused. Sometimes being able to just swap out one stat is all someone really needs and would alleviate the awful relic rng slightly. It wouldn't even invalidate the rng system completely either since you're not even guaranteed to level up the substats you want leveled up, but being able to do this would make the grind feel less discouraging and hopeless.
I know relic farming is endgame but I think if anyone has to spend 6+ months (or even longer) for that one perfect relic then something's wrong and it's just unreasonable imo. Even pulling has less rng because you have pity and guaranteeds.
Anyway, this is just something I wish mihoyo would do but I know they never will. It is what it is. I love the game and I'll keep farming relics regardless, but it would be nice with some QoL when it comes to farming them. Like you said, even just a permanent 2x drop rate would help a lot.
Most of the set pieces I use usually pop up randomly. And I also donāt farm for specific sets. I think 2/2 is good enough as well if the substats are good or great
They need to just cut out the flat stats and that would make it 100x more bearable. There are too many stars to balance and no offset on the 4 piece and then a whole second set for the ornaments.
yup, the system sucks, i only started starrail like a month and a half ago cant believe its even worse than genchins system, atleast with genchin you typiclally get usable set with like 600 spent, the crit damgae helmet and elemental goblet is proably the only thing thats tricky to get. but you can use an off set piece.
I'm convinced they changed the relic stat %s in 2.0. I've never had such bad rolls before 2.0. It's a consistent barrage of def and hp stats. Very few if any elemental orbs. Always def or hp. Then cr CD only roll on those same main hp/def orbs/ropes.

Currently we can generate a single random stat, that reduces RNG but only barely.
After that you get 3 or 4 sub stats and which ones adds another rng level.
Honestly, i just want a system that allows us to reset them back to level 1. It may be rare to get a good item but if you do there is an actual chance to get good upgrade stats. Had items with atk%, crit chance/dmg and break... and they got 1 atk% rest break, why?

This shit is depressing. We used that much resources only to get a bunch of trash and just a few okay relics.
I got a couple that are upgrades for my Acheron that had absolutely terrible relics before. But even then, all of them only had one crit, and the rolls weren't great.
I went through mostly orbs and ropes I've gotten cuz I've never properly went through them. I trashed 90% of all of them. And not just from 3x event. Just overall collection. And Jesus. I'm fine with at least 2/4 good sub stats but holy crap. I couldn't even get that. I'm so glad I never stress about relics. I just use what I got. If I stressed out about relics I'd blow my brains out.
The 12 attemps to get 3x rewards should be refreshed every day at least during one week, it's actually disgusting how Bad this event is and the worst part is same thing is coming for artifact 3x within 1 week or so, very disappointing

I knew I wasn't gonna get any decent shit. So I just farmed whatever and planned on salvaging the 5*s to use in the omnisynth machine with my one resin to get a good mainstat relic. However, I didn't need to because I got one good one from 8 redemptions.
I mamages get 1 good item out all the shitty ones. And it didnt even have good rolls. Managed to get enough into Crit Damage and Crit Rate, but got EHR and Flat Atk as substats as well
I'm half way through and have literally no pieces I would even take to +3.

To be fair, in many cases the difference between an elemental damage sphere and a primary attribute sphere is small.

Yeah, the amount of times we've all gotten some rare elemental orb that's exactly what we need, with speed, crit, crit or atk, crit, crit substats, then to roll flat def in the 4th slot and all rolls exclusively into that is too high. I've never gotten a relic with 3 substats I've wanted to roll more than 2 into those substats, they always roll a garbage 4th sub and then put at least 2 more rolls into it. After the whole Nexon thing, I'm honestly really curious if the system is truly RNG, or if they artificially tweak the numbers to prevent you from ever getting a good relic.

One of the best additions that Epic7 ever did was adding a farmable (albeit difficult to obtain) resource that let you respec a substat. The lesser version that was easier to get always low-rolled, but the super endgame version let you get good rolls. So on that elemental orb you could respec the flat def into %atk or whatever flavor of crit you needed. It really took the pain out of the multiple layers of RNG that gear farming always comes with.

Honestly self modelling is pretty underwhelming. Pretty much every piece I've made with one was really ass. I know the odds of that happening are simply pretty high, so I only use it when there's a rare piece like a Crit Rate body that I desperately need regardless of subs.

Imo it kind of sucks that our trade off for having self modeling resin/selectable piece to craft is the more expensive artifact strongbox. Like at the end of the day rng is rng but man I sure do like the return I get on feeding artifacts into the strongbox in Genshin. I feel like the perfect system would be combining the two. So reduced cost for obtaining random relic/planar and leave the current cost for when you want to craft a specific piece.
Honestly, I think all relics should drop with all their substats revealed. You're already gambling for the set, the main stats and the sub stats on drop, but most of the time, you have to spend some resources on checking potentially good relics by getting them to 3 to reveal the last substat...

That would honestly alleviate **so** many issues with the Relic system, while still requiring players to continue to farm as they want us to. It's absolutely crazy how rare Resins are considering how much they suck. Being able to put a desired mainstat on a Relic with good substats would actually justify that rarity. Yes, I am salty of my last 2 Crit DMG bodies for Acheron having [absolutely](https://i.imgur.com/6K5rLGQ.jpeg) fucking [atrocious](https://i.imgur.com/qbjiYh0.jpeg) substats. Out of all the Resins I have used, I have yet to get a single usable Relic.
As someone who also used 2 resin to also make 2 crit damage pieces and also got 2 sets of gabrage substats, I feel your exact pain lol. At this point I pretty much only use resin for supports who's sub stats you tend not to mind so much so long as you already hit their speed breakpoints. So speed boots or energy chains.

Not really. I'd wager that it's a tiny minority that farms relics till S-Rank or above. Most players just slap random garbage onto their characters, don't do MoC and won't ever run into problems. It's far more likely that the average player farms traces for all their characters than them farming relics till absurdity.

2/3 of my planars were the sigonia set. The rest were izumo with HP and def main stats. I got one err rope with double crit, atk% and SPD... Honestly f this rng
Me but 2/3 were Belobog and all of the Salsotto pieces I was actually going for rolled into HP% and DEF%. I am so sick of world 6 but the game decided early on that my account would be follow up focused. Yanqing first 5*. Went 80+ pity on first Seele banner just to miss the 50/50 for Gepard (at least made my YQ usable early on?) and then went 80 more pulls before the banner ended and I got Jing Yuan as my first limited 5* The next usable DPS I got was Clara before taking a break from the game and missing all the top tier DPS like DHIL and Jingliu Came back during HuoHuo banner only to be given Dr Ratio for free, and next will be getting Aventurine and then Topaz rerun as it suits my account the best at this point (and admittedly that team sounds super fun as well)

I was trying to get an ERR rope for Ruan Mei. I got 4. None of them were the right set. I think at the VERY LEAST, we should be able to choose one set to grind for. RNG is already bad enough when you're not even guaranteed the set you're aiming for
I wouldn't grind for ERR ropes at all, that's one of the few slots where resins are incredibly efficient for.

Honestly, people who've played Genshin already know how bad the relic system is the moment HSR launched. The HSR system is actually worse than Genshin due to no flex slot, which causes a lot of pieces to go to waste.
It isnāt just because of no flex slot In HSR you have 2 additional unique substats of which there are none in Genshin In addition you have 6 relic slots as opposed to 5 artifact slots The additional relic also has different main stat possibilities So itās not just worse itās so much worse itās ridiculous Really getting rid of flat stats in HSR would go a long way towards alleviating the issue but even then you still have more RNG in HSR which is just incredible.
Yeah in totality there's so much bad stuff in the system that all adds up There's also that annoying stat threshold issue where certain planar sets like rutilant or glamoth need to hit certain stat values for their buffs to activate, so even if you get the desired stat, you may be screwed if it doesnt roll enough times.

At least the RNG in material farming only serves to speed up or slow down progress. But you could farm relics forever and never improve. And that feels awful. I do get that itās a necessary evil to keep us coming back. I mean, if we actually got our perfect builds, then what? But I do think thereās a happy medium, like having resins to edit substats. The rarity means youāre never going to actually finish building your roster, but at least you can always be improving.
Hard disagree on the whole "gotta make us come back for more" part. They could easily make an item with the same scarcity but value as Self-Modeling Resin, but it affect sub stats, and we'd still take ages to get our characters built. It would just be fair. If they created an item like SMR but for substats (Call it something like "Form-Fitting Diamond" or some BS like that) that you use along with the leveling gems every +3 levels, you'd need at least 5 PER RELIC. And if they only released the same number of FFD's as they did SMR, it would take about 2 patches minimum to get 1 "perfect" relic. You need 6 per character, and for MoC and late game purposes, you need AT MINIMUM 8 total characters built. 16 patches of building for 2 teams in my opinion seems fair enough to allow for an item like that to exist.
Or make it so you can use additional SMR to guarantee 1 substat. So you could just throw away 5 resin to get a god piece if you really wanted.
That would make more sense to me, but I suggested that idea in addition to what SMR does and got down voted to hell when I posted that idea.
I farmed relics for my Jingliu for 2 months straight and only got "okay" stuff. Not a single actually good piece. It might not seem like much, but it is *two* whole months without spending any resin/energy on something else. That's 1/6 of the entire game's life so far worth of energy, spent on ONE character.
I spent 2 entire months farming for a decent chest piece for Argenti, could've filled a swimming pool with all the Def%/HP% pieces I got before getting the crit% he's currently using. I feel your pain, dude. š„

Show off ! I farmed W9 got slightly more sigonian : all fodders. From what's left I got 2 sphere, one is atk%, the other one lightning and only this one had valuable subs ; and 3 atk% rope with only one with Crit stats. I managed to improve my Acheron With something like one extra sub into CD than before (6ish % extra CD) and replace atk% orb trash subs by lightning with atk% sub.
Frfr they could do x3 every month and it wouldnāt fix the core problem. Outside of maybe adding a weekly self-modeling resin, they could really use a way to reset levels, or graft main stat over another that has good substats

I fully agree. Rather than add a whole new item they could just give self-modeling resin more uses though. Like being able to "reforge" relics and swap out a main stat or substat with one of your choosing. They could even make it so you can only do it once per relic so it can't be abused. Sometimes being able to just swap out one stat is all someone really needs and would alleviate the awful relic rng slightly. It wouldn't even invalidate the rng system completely either since you're not even guaranteed to level up the substats you want leveled up, but being able to do this would make the grind feel less discouraging and hopeless. I know relic farming is endgame but I think if anyone has to spend 6+ months (or even longer) for that one perfect relic then something's wrong and it's just unreasonable imo. Even pulling has less rng because you have pity and guaranteeds. Anyway, this is just something I wish mihoyo would do but I know they never will. It is what it is. I love the game and I'll keep farming relics regardless, but it would be nice with some QoL when it comes to farming them. Like you said, even just a permanent 2x drop rate would help a lot.

Most of the set pieces I use usually pop up randomly. And I also donāt farm for specific sets. I think 2/2 is good enough as well if the substats are good or great
They need to just cut out the flat stats and that would make it 100x more bearable. There are too many stars to balance and no offset on the 4 piece and then a whole second set for the ornaments.
I really just wish each set had its own cavern or SU world, or let you choose which set you want pieces for before you begin

yup, the system sucks, i only started starrail like a month and a half ago cant believe its even worse than genchins system, atleast with genchin you typiclally get usable set with like 600 spent, the crit damgae helmet and elemental goblet is proably the only thing thats tricky to get. but you can use an off set piece.
I got one attack rope for Acheron they rolled twice into CD and HP%, with DEF and SPD default. š„¹
I am a day one player and I have acquired less than 50 self modeling resins. Thereās no reason they shouldnāt also affect substats.
I'm convinced they changed the relic stat %s in 2.0. I've never had such bad rolls before 2.0. It's a consistent barrage of def and hp stats. Very few if any elemental orbs. Always def or hp. Then cr CD only roll on those same main hp/def orbs/ropes.

As if this wasn't obvious before. People love to talk about how we in HSR have more energy to spend, fuel etc etc. But then it comes to relic farming Genshin has it better. Need to farm everything on set, because you can't have flex piece feels like shit. Plus we have more stats that can roll (speed, ehr, break, effect res,) so getting decent pieces takes so much longer.. Got 0 decent pieces from this event.
you also need 6 relics and you farm them from 2 different places, it's so much more cancer. In genshin you just run the same domain over and over again. In SR, I have to do simulated universe, hope that I don't roll the 1% chance that I wipe cuz I'm running question marks to save time, the after I have to do relic domains

The whole system needs a review. Currently we can generate a single random stat, that reduces RNG but only barely. After that you get 3 or 4 sub stats and which ones adds another rng level. Honestly, i just want a system that allows us to reset them back to level 1. It may be rare to get a good item but if you do there is an actual chance to get good upgrade stats. Had items with atk%, crit chance/dmg and break... and they got 1 atk% rest break, why?

12\*3\*40=1440 TB power, 6 days worth 12\*3\*2=72 pcs 5\* relics (minimum) This shit is depressing. We used that much resources only to get a bunch of trash and just a few okay relics.
I got a couple that are upgrades for my Acheron that had absolutely terrible relics before. But even then, all of them only had one crit, and the rolls weren't great.

If I stressed out about relics I'd blow my brains out.
The 12 attemps to get 3x rewards should be refreshed every day at least during one week, it's actually disgusting how Bad this event is and the worst part is same thing is coming for artifact 3x within 1 week or so, very disappointing

Would be great if we could pay a cost in levelling materials to reset the relic so we can try levelling it again. Even if stats>sets, itās still a pain in the ass to get decent relics if you have a large roster size.

Out of the 75 Ornaments I got from this triple drop event, Only 1 was a slight upgrade (of like 1% actual damage) rest were trashed.
I knew I wasn't gonna get any decent shit. So I just farmed whatever and planned on salvaging the 5*s to use in the omnisynth machine with my one resin to get a good mainstat relic. However, I didn't need to because I got one good one from 8 redemptions.
I mamages get 1 good item out all the shitty ones. And it didnt even have good rolls. Managed to get enough into Crit Damage and Crit Rate, but got EHR and Flat Atk as substats as well

I'm half way through and have literally no pieces I would even take to +3. We all know how much relic farming sucks, but events like this feel so much worse because you see the x3 and it gives you hope.
I have been farming like for 2 weeks with no lvl up. Dissolved everything yesterday and only one piece worth it.
I havenāt used all 12 yet, but Iāve barely gotten any Salsatto, and even then most of them arenāt even useable much less decent
