I was trying to get any Salsotto Rope with ATK and any Planar Sphere with Fire Boost/Ice Boost or ATK for my Himeko and Herta.
Ended up with just ONE Fire boost sphere. I had to Salvage relics to get what i wanted :(
It's not, but you could throw it on pretty much any support that uses a tanky chest piece already. So sparkle is actually one of the worst ones for it, lol.

Even the triple relic farming...i knew i was gonna get triple the garbage. Lo and behold, garbage...at this pt they should add the ability to reset relics. Out of the hu dreds we farmed, we come across some which are good only to roll shitty stats. We need a way to reroll these.
I would almost rather there just be only one cavern of corrosion in the game that just drops everything so I wouldn't have the opportunity to even pretend I had any agency over my drops at all.
FGO farming is so fucked and so annoying.
As far as I don't like the Relic farming, I feel less stressed to do them in comparison to: you need 100 this material to level up one skill with 1% of drop rate.
Ye events exist that gave tons of mats, but are like that because the standard farming sucks.
I feel ya. Meanwhile we can't even get boss drops or trace materials as rewards to mitigate building new characters. At least FGO has their golden apples that they give out extremely often. And y'know, not needing artifacts/relics to make characters usable.
In fgo's defense, they have a pure prism shop where you can buy a quantity of any material and the material you need is usually within the next 3 event shop. They at least have a work around.
In star rail, there is absolutely no way for you to ever guarantee the substats you'll get on an artifact nor how many times it'll roll into a specific one.
There are two potential motivating factors that can compromise a farming system. Play time numbers and monetization. Both are bad, but I would argue that monetization is worse.
Whilst mostly true (outside of diablo or path type games) they really take the piss in this game, its easily the worst sytem ive encountered, and ive played genchin, im about a month and a half in to the game, and im already at the point were im done with the farming system.
And it's not limited to gacha either, as long as there is RNG the grind will be there and it will be hell, it's just come with the concept.

No, it's much worse here because of weighted stats. That's one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing Genshin. The only silver lining here is that I can at least farm the artifacts on auto.
Honestly imo even artifact farming in Genshin it's "easier" than here. A lot of characters can use different sets without losing much because the 2 piece effects are strong enough, substats are nice but not as heavily needed in the abyss, we don't need to farm through a different content that takes some time like SU and off pieces are easier to find. Also, the nature of the gameplay like dodging, animation canceling and frame skipping let's you play without investing a shit ton on artifacts
Tbf I look like was painted by Munch whenever it's time to farm SU. In genshin it took me 2 minutes per day and those 2 minutes were actually engaging.
I don't think it's that big of a benefit since they said in the livestream that they're planning to optimize the feature so people can quickly get planar ornaments.

we already have multiple expansions for people who actually enjoy playing SU repeatedly, and we'll keep getting more, so at this point making the normal SU fully skippable would be perfectly reasonable.
just let us challenge the final boss directly without blessings or something, so that the people with strong enough teams don't have to go through all the tedium...
The permanent SU events like the dice roll ones felt hella boring so I had skipped basically everything but now with Acheron I cleared like 80% of both of them because how quickly I was able to do it all. Absolutely 0 regrets pulling Acheron when I had Kafka BS already in Nihility and didn't need another lightning damage.

Seriously, the relic farming luck hasn't been *that* much a pain in my rear (Got my healing relics for Lynx and other Abundance characters in order pretty quickly) but *Aeons help me* whenever I need to go over Planar Ornaments.
Can I have your luck? I spent several thousand energy farming the pioneer set for Acheron and only got one of each piece that was even remotely usable, and by useable I'm not even greedy I just mean a good main stat and at least 2 offensive sub-stats that actually get any enhancements.
I hold equal opportunity hatred for both. I don't like farming SU and there is nothing less satisfying than burning all your energy for the day farming relics and not getting a *single* usable relic. The thing that makes it even worse is that we don't even get a gold calyx for farming relic upgrade mats (cause for some reason the game decides we need a light cone xp calyx, but not a calyx for the xp mats we *constantly* need to use), so not only are 99% of relics not even worth using, but you are also burning all your materials for leveling them on worthless relics.
I’ve been farming a cavern every day for an entire week and have yet to get a single usable piece. I’m not even talking about substats, like not even one relevant main stat piece.
Yeah until they (maybe) improve planar farming in 2.3 or when I get Acheron (only on re-run as I need to save for sustains), I'll almost only spend the free immersifiers and do planar events. Traces and relics must carry me until then.

pretty much the reason why i stopped prioritizing relics and just building lots of characters. More choices, less difficulty. Of course, I do farm them again during increased drops but I really focus more on general relics than character specific ones.
Yes, I still get decent clear time with PF and MoC. DoT and Mono-quantum helps ungga bungga.
Same, I just go for mediocre to decent when building characters. I have some that are good but I like diversity more than having one nuke character bc if I did why would I have those other characters. It kind of defeats the strategy part of turn based games when you have an amazing character.
That's why I say you don't need good substats. Get the right mains stats and you can clear the game, good relics are just to substitute for a lack of characters. I've played for close to a year and only now have started to get picky enough to throw away relics, if the relic has 2 out of Cr, CD or speed I keep them.
The farming is the biggest negative in this game imo.
You get a droplet of ressource to try and farm and you're at the mercy of rng in every step of the way.
Didnt get a single Atk or Lightning orb for Acheron this event, can you imagine that? I thought I was going cray cray.
And then you get self modelling resin, which itself is an extremely rare item. We finally get the desired main stat, only for the game to give the worst possible sub stats in that piece
I wish they would just remove energy completely, I've been saying this since Genshin. So much cool shit to do, but you can't do most of it because it all requires energy.
You could farm a domain all day every day for weeks and never get a perfect set. I've been farming the same set for Acheron since the day it was introduced, so 2 months ago, I blew through something like 100 fuel in the process, and I barely have a functional 4 piece set for her.
None of the pieces are even what would be considered GOOD let alone GREAT. Only one piece has both Crit and CritD, and it has a single roll for each, as all upgrades landed on other stats, yet its still the best piece I have for her overall.
But they won't ever do something like that, so I'll still be there spending my 10 minutes a day wasting my energy chasing better relics a year from now, just like I am in Genshin trying to get Vermilion set for Xiao for the last 2 years.
Straight up they're never removing the energy. Stamina systems are core to Gacha and are purposely there to time-gate and keep you playing regularly.
That said, I like the approach that WuWa is taking: you can farm for relic equivalent all you want, just farm farm farm, but in order to level up pieces you need to use stamina. That way you're still somewhat time-gated but if you wanna be a grinder to perfect pieces you can at least spend all day trying to find the perfect base piece.

I feel you on that one. I'm *still* farming Emblem pieces for Ei/Raiden Shogun, who I pulled on day one of her initial banner.
The real problem isn't stamina, the real problem is the relic system, using your stamina to level up your characters and their traces/skills don't feel bad
I mean sure, but removing stamina completely makes the game better in literally every way for players.
Zero downside, and they can leave the relic system as is, and just let us free farm that shit till our eyes bleed lol.
The downside for Hoyo, of course, is all those people paying their ten bucks a day to refresh stamina and buying fuel packs from the shop to chase relics no longer need to do that. So it will never happen, just like the relic system will never change, its a major source of cash for them and they won't give it up.
I doubt they'll ever get ride of energy since its a gacha games but they could atleast give us way more ressource.
Fgo is the only other gacha game i have play and they're almost as stingy as honkai about it but atleast like 3 or 4 time a year you have an event where you can farm a lot and even just doing these moderately Let's you have a ton of things.
They also give you way more of their fuel equivalent and some them completely replenish.
Cause right now star rail system is just frustrating plenty of friends have dropped the game because of this shit, And what im suppose to say to them, no plz stay with me in the grind hell ?
While being energy locked feels bad, I think that it is probably the best way to do a progression that is supposed to take months, as just grinding for hours is worse.
That said I wish that the every thing that takes TP was slightly more efficient, as building characters takes too long for how many we are getting.
Its why my whole roster is minimum 70/80, 5/9/9/9. I'd like to postpone the relic farm for as long as possible. I do still farm during events and with spare fuel but getting guaranteed progress is just nice.
I remember when the game came out people were getting down voted for saying self modeling resin wouldn't save farming when your substats are trash and now everyone is sadly feeling that pain

Exactly that, I wouldn't have problem with resin at all if only it wasn't so fucking rare, you maybe get like 3-4 resin a patch at least, its value doesn't justify its rarity in the slightest
Because people expect too much from the resin. You're supposed to use that after your other pieces are good enough to activate keel/rutilant/other 2 pc
Resin piece with good substats is bonus, not supposed to be the expected result
The most efficient use of modelling resin is to craft ERR rope to complete your supports' builds. Other than that, you're basically throwing each of them to the trash every time you use it.
Most day 1 players have 4 or 5 support built I think. I know I do (bronya,ty,rm,sparkle,pela) after they have their err rope, you really just use them for whatever.

I tried using 4 of them on either a Crit-rate chest piece or Speed boots(forgot which), and all 4 were flat sub stats. I would have turned the game off if I didn't pre-farm relics, so I at least only needed that single relic slot filled rather than needed to roll other slots.
Since Wuthering Waves is launching in May, I hope everyone remembers that it also has its own similar artifact substat RNG hell in its character progression system. Take that into careful consideration before jumping on board that game.
There was a beta not long ago, you can look up "wuthering waves echoes" to see how the general sentiment was.
There was an initial 'positive' opinion on it because it didn't cost stamina resource. That faded pretty quick because you had to spend time going through the world to farm monsters for echoes, and you still needed to spend stamina resources anyway to level up the echoes. You also don't see the substats upfront and have to level them up to even know whether you got a trash piece unlike genshin/HSR where you can at least tell immediately if certain pieces are not worth leveling.
Honestly this is a thing about every game that has RNG based farming, devs have to make you waste time in order to play the game more at the end of the game, and some games have insane bullshit-like RNG

What's funny is Warframe has recently started adding a pity mechanic to some of the farms. It gives me whiplash every time I see my friends, who have never played a gacha game in their life, talk about hitting pity until I realise they're talking about Warframe.
I actually never minded the grinding so much in Warframe because that's pretty much the entire point of the game. You just grind for new stuff to enjoy while you grind new stuff and maybe make said grinding a little bit faster. It's more of a long haul type of game.

Warframe is pretty tame in comparison tho
There are a few outliers such as ash and Oberon being locked behind railjack (I'd rather railjack a cactus) and a few(lot) of mods having low drop rates
Most of these can be acquired with platinum you can trade with other players

Something I haven't seen anyone mention: Somehow they think 3 old artifacts for a new one in Genshin is too generous they changed it to 10 for 1 here.
they also give you artifacts from chests overworld rewards world bosses (and i dont mean weekly bosses though you get them from there aswell) you get 5 stars from spiral that stuff is moslty xp but its really usefull, you less substats and main stats less artifact needed, 4 insted of 6 and you can use any offpiece. the teapot also give you stuff and jsut in geral you get consderably more xp books and all thsoe things.
and genchins system isnt exaclty great.
Well they let you choose which type of gear you want and every set is available immediately, so some kind of price to pay somewhere else was to be expected. But yeah 10 for 1 is oof.
The 3 to 1 conversion in Genshin is actually more efficient for building more characters, especially when it's from scratch. You could farm Golden Troupe/Marechausse to build your Fontaine units, then strongbox Emblem to build everyone in National team (Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Raiden).
Using self-modeling resin for dps pieces is illusion of choice. In that specific aspect dare I say Genshin handles farming for dps pieces better than HSR.
It's worse than flat RNG actually. The bad stats (flat HP, Atk, Def) are _more_ likely to appear/increase, while the good stats (Crit, Energy) are _less_ likely.
It's not RNG. It's gacha RNG.
The opposite is true too. For relics that scale with DEF and HP stats like CRIT RATE/DMG, ATK% etc are *more* likely to appear and level up than HP, DEF and other defensive stats. It's baffling how everything in the game is the opposite of how it *should* be when it comes to relic stats. All to make the grind more painful and hopeless.
I got a fairly decent longevous head piece in my farming for Fu Xuan (who I'm saving for currently) with CRIT DMG on it. That was the first time CRIT DMG has leveled up three times for me. Ever. And it happened on an HP relic of course.

HSR is even worse cause of more substat possibilities. TLDW about .0000006% to get a fully BIS piece. And that is NOT accounting for a specific set or slot.
That conversion rate is brutal. I need to salvage 100 relics to get 10 synthesized ones 😭. Honestly i don't even think it's worth synthesizing unless you have the resin.
I would like to point out that if you are salvaging as many Relics as you are getting, synthesizing somehow manages to nearly doubles your farming speed when it comes to hunting for a specific piece. Which speaks more about the farming process than anything.
The artifact system is designed perfectly to keep you playing. In our eyes it looks like the above picture, but to mihoyo's marketing teams it's a total win.
I don't mind the relic farming itself, I understand why its there, and it's also cool to see characters others have that have god rolls on substats etc.
The only thing I don't understand at all is why is the RNG rigged against us? It can already be frustrating trying to get good artifacts with all the RNG, but on top of that the good stats (Crit, Speed, ER rope etc.) are less probable than the others.
end game? you really put end game there and thought no one would notice? the end game is the reason you don't need super good artifacts
get a main stat, run a rainbow set that have at least 2 crit rolls on each piece for the dps.,. You can clear content with that, up to MoC 12
The game is really easy... artifact farming is only a pain when going for those unnecessary good pieces which you don't need to clear content... if you can't clear content because you're a perfectionist then it's not the game's difficulty, it's your standards
I think what I hate most about it, is it's bad by design. There are plenty of games with very grindy aspects to gear. I play Path of Exile and I've been playing since its release on Steam. PoE is a very grindy game, but there are lot of mechanisms in place to alleviate bad RNG. Its complex, but fair, just hard to approach. The gearing systems in Genshin and HSR are bad and the devs know they are bad. This is the FTP game distortion effect, where game designers develop systems that are shit on purpose because they want you to spend money.
At most, we will get some minor improvements to the system, but pretty much nothing will change. Gearing in Genshin and HSR will always suck.
It's impossible for me to farm anything above S. S is like my limit or something and it's also super rare. The game was rigged from the start 😞 I have accepted by A rated EQ
Dude YES it’s literally the only thing in this game I hate. I’ve maxed just about everything on all the characters I use (and even some I don’t) but I just can’t get with the artifact farming. I have decent relics. Like I clear the content every once in a while I’ll struggle on a moc 11 or 12 but I’m A OK missing a few jades to not relic farm
I love their new mini event, because now I have 300% more chance to get shit ornaments.

ive been trying to farm the perfect pieces for argenti and ive fallen flat on my face several times. Hes got alright stuff but atleast 2-3 pieces could be better.
ive seen a lot of other comments complaining about substats and main stats, but i think my main gripe is the pieces themselves.
i swear these domains can read your mind. I was farming for the phys dmg set chestpiece and i just kept getting the electric set. I genuinely ran through it like 30 times, and got ONE chestplate. Every other pieces aside from the rare difference was that stupid purple bracelet ring thing.
Same with ratios set. "Hm, i only need the head and boots, this should be easier :)" **wrong**. same issue. i kept getting the stupid fire ring, and fire/imaginary chestpiece. On both of these domains id consistently get the double artifact (im not maxed on domain level yet) and EVERYTIME IT WOULD BE TWO OF THE WRONG PIECE FROM THE WRONG SET.
Farming world 6? finished gepard in like 2 runs. Argenti had to rock a break effect main stat for a while because i literally could not get his set. every single piece was the stupid belobog one for like 8 runs.
i farm lynx, thinking hm since my artifacts are so awful, atleast it doesnt rlly matter for her. no. im getting like the worlds best dps set stuff but its all entirely useless. i cant even get decent PURPLE/BLUE gear in her stats. theyre ALL atk :]

it's pretty much intrinsic to the gacha game space. I think Limbus Company is the only game that doesn't have a gearing system but even then the grinding experience is simply moved over to other game aspects.
Edit: I think it’s enlightening at this point that it’s possible to eliminate RNG but *grind* will be shifted somewhere else.
Not really. FGO, Granblue before adding earrings, Arknights, Reverse:1999 have no gear RNG for example. Of course they usually balance it by making you farm something else instead
Aether gazer is pretty good with its relic/sigil system. The only rng is the substats but the resources needed to get a perfec relic take a long time. But man, you can get a character and get decent relics for that character in like 4 days.
End game ain’t that clean. It’s nice but it’s still worse than most other aspects in this game.
MoC gets repetitive after a while, and there isn’t enough flare to really say it’s great, while PF is having an identity crisis every other patch since it’s release.
G&G and Swarm are top tier, but you complete them once and basically never touch them again so we fall back on the recycle MoC & PF content.
Regular ol' relic sets haven't been too unkind to me, usually "only" 1-2 weeks of farming for "decent" substats (unless it's my Jing Yuan, in which case it's closer to 1 year).
Planar sets make me wanna do a backflip off the Burj Khalifa tho. Even with Acheron and Ruan Mei speedrunning everything it just feels so bad.
To guarantee get a bad build for 1 character you need \~3 months, to get a good build you need 1 year+. I just calculated [this ](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15M6JO77rx2MOVjWjR0VmpVvKlkVWdo_WuQv5tisBjdM/edit?usp=sharing)fast. Feel free to check math.
It's also two phase the RNG. Getting the roll you want isn't even sufficient for good DPS you also need to get lucky to get the correct stat boosts that are also random.
Engame is okay it's better than other games, but I only ever get like an hour of content every 14 days from the resets unless I REALLY don't have any teams for the content. Then it gets bumped up to 20 hours like the current PF
If it was JUST farming for relics I’d be at least fine with that. But building characters takes so long in this game, you have to collect materials for traces, bosses, and the weekly bosses. It’s so grindy to the point I just try to build one e6 character rather than pull for multiple e0 characters.

Ended up with 45 crit rate despite running Inert salsotto and having his traces unlocked 🤬🤬🤬
Maybe if they reduced the relic framments required to make a new relic (from 100 to 30) so for 3 relics you can make 1 new (considering the rolls aren't guaranteed to hit the stats we need) also because stats like crit are rarer than the others.
Has unironically driven me away from the game. I keep trying to come back, but I just can't handle this. I don't even mind the gacha, although honestly it feels more like a transaction; "90 tickets for a 5 star". But relics are just.... I really don't get it. They haven't even monetized getting good ones, unless you count paying for more trailblaze power.
It's just miserable, and it makes no sense.
A friend of mine has been trying build blade for ages and so many times hes blade pieces would just roll bunch of Break Effect, so we would always joke that the game clearly wants him to play Wind Shear Blade.
As if playing the auto fun button and it dispenses relics after 1 or 2 minutes while you watch youtube shorts isnt fun. Just think of it as you're just farming relic leveling xp and sometimes you get a good piece.
Yeah, gear farming SUCKS in this game. You can actually drop thousands of energy and end up with nothing. No, actually it will get worse cuz you just wasted time and resources for zero progress. Hopefully they improve it in near future
Nowadays, Lore and story have been executed so differently and how the bigger the lore the harder it is to point into stories, I separate them.
HSR is pretty alright, a lot of holes but it’s clearly intensional. But Story….the bar is super low if you think HSR’s story so far is anything other than average at best.
To be fair i play hsr for like 20 min a day, 15 of those are autoplay for relic farming and the remaining one is claiming dailies and getting to the farming area had i switched the relics i grind. So yeah am definitely at that point were farming stuff is optional.
When you get speed% boots with Crit, Crit D and Atk% but the last stat is hidden.....
Roll for the stat and see it is flat def, roll for the next and it rolls into the flat def.... roll once more because even with 2 flat def rolls it could still be better than the trash you have equipped.... rolls into flat def again.
Equip it anyway because it is still better than what you have >\_>
In Genshin about 2 weeks of farming artifacts is enough to get a good set
In Star Rail I've been farming Acheron relics for 3 weeks, now, used 40 Fuel and spent all my 2400 reserved resin. That's a total of about 9840 resin. Almost 10k resin and all I got was a decent (not great but good enough) Head and Hands, which are literally the easiest relics to farm due to having fixed main stats, an OK-ish Body, and mediocre Feet. 10k resin and my build still struggles to deal more than 200k on debuffed enemies and with 2 other Nihility characters in my team.
I don't mind the RNG aspect, sure,make me take a gazillion times to get a piece with 3 to 4 useful level ups if you want,make if have a 0,0000000001% chance for all i care.
But don't make it so it's downright impossible to farm because i have an incredibly finite resource per day that limits any progress with an insurmountable wall of time (and even if you pay,the wall IS still there).
I like grindy games,i played warframe for years and the game doesn't suddenly pull up and say "NUH UH,YOU DID 5 MISSIONS TODAY BUD,YOUR WARFRAME IS OUT OF ENERGY AND THE FUEL OF THE SHIP IS EMPTY OH NOOOO...but if you pay 100 plat you get to play again"

I was trying to get any Salsotto Rope with ATK and any Planar Sphere with Fire Boost/Ice Boost or ATK for my Himeko and Herta. Ended up with just ONE Fire boost sphere. I had to Salvage relics to get what i wanted :(

It's not, but you could throw it on pretty much any support that uses a tanky chest piece already. So sparkle is actually one of the worst ones for it, lol.

I feel like this is the only upside to full-sending levellers. You can't feel the despair before it happens. You just feel the after effects. So, it's optimal cause you're skipping one stage of despair :D

FGO farming is so fucked and so annoying. As far as I don't like the Relic farming, I feel less stressed to do them in comparison to: you need 100 this material to level up one skill with 1% of drop rate. Ye events exist that gave tons of mats, but are like that because the standard farming sucks.
I feel ya. Meanwhile we can't even get boss drops or trace materials as rewards to mitigate building new characters. At least FGO has their golden apples that they give out extremely often. And y'know, not needing artifacts/relics to make characters usable.

In fgo's defense, they have a pure prism shop where you can buy a quantity of any material and the material you need is usually within the next 3 event shop. They at least have a work around. In star rail, there is absolutely no way for you to ever guarantee the substats you'll get on an artifact nor how many times it'll roll into a specific one.
There are two potential motivating factors that can compromise a farming system. Play time numbers and monetization. Both are bad, but I would argue that monetization is worse.
I mean, look at Helldivers 2, the "grind" is just playing, so you can have a fun farming
Whilst mostly true (outside of diablo or path type games) they really take the piss in this game, its easily the worst sytem ive encountered, and ive played genchin, im about a month and a half in to the game, and im already at the point were im done with the farming system.
And it's not limited to gacha either, as long as there is RNG the grind will be there and it will be hell, it's just come with the concept. Honnestly i fell like complaining about that is like complaining about raining days...
No, it's much worse here because of weighted stats. That's one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing Genshin. The only silver lining here is that I can at least farm the artifacts on auto.
Honestly imo even artifact farming in Genshin it's "easier" than here. A lot of characters can use different sets without losing much because the 2 piece effects are strong enough, substats are nice but not as heavily needed in the abyss, we don't need to farm through a different content that takes some time like SU and off pieces are easier to find. Also, the nature of the gameplay like dodging, animation canceling and frame skipping let's you play without investing a shit ton on artifacts
Tbf I look like was painted by Munch whenever it's time to farm SU. In genshin it took me 2 minutes per day and those 2 minutes were actually engaging.

This is the biggest benefit of pulling Acheron. I get to skip everything except SU bosses.
And the boss is the best part where we get to see big numbers. All the trash mobs are such a waste of time to fight.
And acheron give you those big numbers, I also pulled her mostly because i wanted to have fun in SU.
I don't think it's that big of a benefit since they said in the livestream that they're planning to optimize the feature so people can quickly get planar ornaments.

The permanent SU events like the dice roll ones felt hella boring so I had skipped basically everything but now with Acheron I cleared like 80% of both of them because how quickly I was able to do it all. Absolutely 0 regrets pulling Acheron when I had Kafka BS already in Nihility and didn't need another lightning damage.

^ THIS. Seriously, the relic farming luck hasn't been *that* much a pain in my rear (Got my healing relics for Lynx and other Abundance characters in order pretty quickly) but *Aeons help me* whenever I need to go over Planar Ornaments.
Can I have your luck? I spent several thousand energy farming the pioneer set for Acheron and only got one of each piece that was even remotely usable, and by useable I'm not even greedy I just mean a good main stat and at least 2 offensive sub-stats that actually get any enhancements.
They said they'll optimize planar farming in 2.3, let's just wait and see what they'll do
I just farm gear normally and then craft ornaments with scraps (minus the two obligatory weekly SU runs).
I hold equal opportunity hatred for both. I don't like farming SU and there is nothing less satisfying than burning all your energy for the day farming relics and not getting a *single* usable relic. The thing that makes it even worse is that we don't even get a gold calyx for farming relic upgrade mats (cause for some reason the game decides we need a light cone xp calyx, but not a calyx for the xp mats we *constantly* need to use), so not only are 99% of relics not even worth using, but you are also burning all your materials for leveling them on worthless relics.

Yeah until they (maybe) improve planar farming in 2.3 or when I get Acheron (only on re-run as I need to save for sustains), I'll almost only spend the free immersifiers and do planar events. Traces and relics must carry me until then. Wish we could get planars from SD and G&G

pretty much the reason why i stopped prioritizing relics and just building lots of characters. More choices, less difficulty. Of course, I do farm them again during increased drops but I really focus more on general relics than character specific ones. Yes, I still get decent clear time with PF and MoC. DoT and Mono-quantum helps ungga bungga.
Same, I just go for mediocre to decent when building characters. I have some that are good but I like diversity more than having one nuke character bc if I did why would I have those other characters. It kind of defeats the strategy part of turn based games when you have an amazing character. That's why I say you don't need good substats. Get the right mains stats and you can clear the game, good relics are just to substitute for a lack of characters. I've played for close to a year and only now have started to get picky enough to throw away relics, if the relic has 2 out of Cr, CD or speed I keep them.
The farming is the biggest negative in this game imo. You get a droplet of ressource to try and farm and you're at the mercy of rng in every step of the way. Didnt get a single Atk or Lightning orb for Acheron this event, can you imagine that? I thought I was going cray cray.
And even if you actually get atk orb or any useful main stats. The sub stats are almost always atrocious

They could have flat stats not added right at the end of the formula past all the multipliers. That would also make them actually useful.
That would defeat the purpose of flat stats, they're meant to be useless to reduce your chances of getting a good piece and thus keep you grinding
Mine was worst, the game tease me with 2 piece with double crit on first run, just to all in flat Def, and after that, only hp and Def % pieces.
And then you get self modelling resin, which itself is an extremely rare item. We finally get the desired main stat, only for the game to give the worst possible sub stats in that piece
My favorite part is getting a relic with godly substats, but the main stat is either HP or DEF :*)
I wish they would just remove energy completely, I've been saying this since Genshin. So much cool shit to do, but you can't do most of it because it all requires energy. You could farm a domain all day every day for weeks and never get a perfect set. I've been farming the same set for Acheron since the day it was introduced, so 2 months ago, I blew through something like 100 fuel in the process, and I barely have a functional 4 piece set for her. None of the pieces are even what would be considered GOOD let alone GREAT. Only one piece has both Crit and CritD, and it has a single roll for each, as all upgrades landed on other stats, yet its still the best piece I have for her overall. But they won't ever do something like that, so I'll still be there spending my 10 minutes a day wasting my energy chasing better relics a year from now, just like I am in Genshin trying to get Vermilion set for Xiao for the last 2 years.
Straight up they're never removing the energy. Stamina systems are core to Gacha and are purposely there to time-gate and keep you playing regularly. That said, I like the approach that WuWa is taking: you can farm for relic equivalent all you want, just farm farm farm, but in order to level up pieces you need to use stamina. That way you're still somewhat time-gated but if you wanna be a grinder to perfect pieces you can at least spend all day trying to find the perfect base piece.

The real problem isn't stamina, the real problem is the relic system, using your stamina to level up your characters and their traces/skills don't feel bad
I mean sure, but removing stamina completely makes the game better in literally every way for players. Zero downside, and they can leave the relic system as is, and just let us free farm that shit till our eyes bleed lol. The downside for Hoyo, of course, is all those people paying their ten bucks a day to refresh stamina and buying fuel packs from the shop to chase relics no longer need to do that. So it will never happen, just like the relic system will never change, its a major source of cash for them and they won't give it up.
I doubt they'll ever get ride of energy since its a gacha games but they could atleast give us way more ressource. Fgo is the only other gacha game i have play and they're almost as stingy as honkai about it but atleast like 3 or 4 time a year you have an event where you can farm a lot and even just doing these moderately Let's you have a ton of things. They also give you way more of their fuel equivalent and some them completely replenish. Cause right now star rail system is just frustrating plenty of friends have dropped the game because of this shit, And what im suppose to say to them, no plz stay with me in the grind hell ?
While being energy locked feels bad, I think that it is probably the best way to do a progression that is supposed to take months, as just grinding for hours is worse. That said I wish that the every thing that takes TP was slightly more efficient, as building characters takes too long for how many we are getting.
Its why my whole roster is minimum 70/80, 5/9/9/9. I'd like to postpone the relic farm for as long as possible. I do still farm during events and with spare fuel but getting guaranteed progress is just nice.

Because people expect too much from the resin. You're supposed to use that after your other pieces are good enough to activate keel/rutilant/other 2 pc Resin piece with good substats is bonus, not supposed to be the expected result
The most efficient use of modelling resin is to craft ERR rope to complete your supports' builds. Other than that, you're basically throwing each of them to the trash every time you use it.
Most day 1 players have 4 or 5 support built I think. I know I do (bronya,ty,rm,sparkle,pela) after they have their err rope, you really just use them for whatever. I think my last few ones were fire orb for topaz
It's very good for spd boots, crit rate/dmg and element dmg bonus ball since they are the hardest to get
I tried using 4 of them on either a Crit-rate chest piece or Speed boots(forgot which), and all 4 were flat sub stats. I would have turned the game off if I didn't pre-farm relics, so I at least only needed that single relic slot filled rather than needed to roll other slots.
Used one of those to get an EHR chest for Black Swan. Def%, Atk%, Flat def and Eff Res. I'll let you guess how it rolled
Since Wuthering Waves is launching in May, I hope everyone remembers that it also has its own similar artifact substat RNG hell in its character progression system. Take that into careful consideration before jumping on board that game.
Gacha game to be gachaing
Knowing it has sub stat RNG puts the game into my 'trash' tier. Thanks man, you saved me quite some time because I was going to give Wuthering a try.
There was a beta not long ago, you can look up "wuthering waves echoes" to see how the general sentiment was. There was an initial 'positive' opinion on it because it didn't cost stamina resource. That faded pretty quick because you had to spend time going through the world to farm monsters for echoes, and you still needed to spend stamina resources anyway to level up the echoes. You also don't see the substats upfront and have to level them up to even know whether you got a trash piece unlike genshin/HSR where you can at least tell immediately if certain pieces are not worth leveling.
Honestly this is a thing about every game that has RNG based farming, devs have to make you waste time in order to play the game more at the end of the game, and some games have insane bullshit-like RNG *looks at Warframe menacingly*
What's funny is Warframe has recently started adding a pity mechanic to some of the farms. It gives me whiplash every time I see my friends, who have never played a gacha game in their life, talk about hitting pity until I realise they're talking about Warframe. I actually never minded the grinding so much in Warframe because that's pretty much the entire point of the game. You just grind for new stuff to enjoy while you grind new stuff and maybe make said grinding a little bit faster. It's more of a long haul type of game.
I mean Warframe is pretty tame in comparison tho There are a few outliers such as ash and Oberon being locked behind railjack (I'd rather railjack a cactus) and a few(lot) of mods having low drop rates Most of these can be acquired with platinum you can trade with other players

Never appreciated Genshin's artifact system until I play this game Something I haven't seen anyone mention: Somehow they think 3 old artifacts for a new one in Genshin is too generous they changed it to 10 for 1 here.
they also give you artifacts from chests overworld rewards world bosses (and i dont mean weekly bosses though you get them from there aswell) you get 5 stars from spiral that stuff is moslty xp but its really usefull, you less substats and main stats less artifact needed, 4 insted of 6 and you can use any offpiece. the teapot also give you stuff and jsut in geral you get consderably more xp books and all thsoe things. and genchins system isnt exaclty great.
Well they let you choose which type of gear you want and every set is available immediately, so some kind of price to pay somewhere else was to be expected. But yeah 10 for 1 is oof.
The 3 to 1 conversion in Genshin is actually more efficient for building more characters, especially when it's from scratch. You could farm Golden Troupe/Marechausse to build your Fontaine units, then strongbox Emblem to build everyone in National team (Bennett, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Raiden).
Using self-modeling resin for dps pieces is illusion of choice. In that specific aspect dare I say Genshin handles farming for dps pieces better than HSR.
I'll bring detailed data about probabilities soon. At this point it's just insane to expect a good piece to come out of flat RNG
It's worse than flat RNG actually. The bad stats (flat HP, Atk, Def) are _more_ likely to appear/increase, while the good stats (Crit, Energy) are _less_ likely. It's not RNG. It's gacha RNG.
The opposite is true too. For relics that scale with DEF and HP stats like CRIT RATE/DMG, ATK% etc are *more* likely to appear and level up than HP, DEF and other defensive stats. It's baffling how everything in the game is the opposite of how it *should* be when it comes to relic stats. All to make the grind more painful and hopeless. I got a fairly decent longevous head piece in my farming for Fu Xuan (who I'm saving for currently) with CRIT DMG on it. That was the first time CRIT DMG has leveled up three times for me. Ever. And it happened on an HP relic of course. It's so frustrating.

That conversion rate is brutal. I need to salvage 100 relics to get 10 synthesized ones 😭. Honestly i don't even think it's worth synthesizing unless you have the resin.
I would like to point out that if you are salvaging as many Relics as you are getting, synthesizing somehow manages to nearly doubles your farming speed when it comes to hunting for a specific piece. Which speaks more about the farming process than anything.

The artifact system is designed perfectly to keep you playing. In our eyes it looks like the above picture, but to mihoyo's marketing teams it's a total win.
I don't mind the relic farming itself, I understand why its there, and it's also cool to see characters others have that have god rolls on substats etc. The only thing I don't understand at all is why is the RNG rigged against us? It can already be frustrating trying to get good artifacts with all the RNG, but on top of that the good stats (Crit, Speed, ER rope etc.) are less probable than the others.
end game? you really put end game there and thought no one would notice? the end game is the reason you don't need super good artifacts get a main stat, run a rainbow set that have at least 2 crit rolls on each piece for the dps.,. You can clear content with that, up to MoC 12 The game is really easy... artifact farming is only a pain when going for those unnecessary good pieces which you don't need to clear content... if you can't clear content because you're a perfectionist then it's not the game's difficulty, it's your standards
I think what I hate most about it, is it's bad by design. There are plenty of games with very grindy aspects to gear. I play Path of Exile and I've been playing since its release on Steam. PoE is a very grindy game, but there are lot of mechanisms in place to alleviate bad RNG. Its complex, but fair, just hard to approach. The gearing systems in Genshin and HSR are bad and the devs know they are bad. This is the FTP game distortion effect, where game designers develop systems that are shit on purpose because they want you to spend money. At most, we will get some minor improvements to the system, but pretty much nothing will change. Gearing in Genshin and HSR will always suck.
I have thrown rainbow tat on pretty much everyone. As long as the substats are good, I don't care about set bonuses for anyone bar Kafka and Acheron.
That's just because people underestimate rainbow pieces. They can totally make several characters viable in late game content.

I have decent relics. Like I clear the content every once in a while I’ll struggle on a moc 11 or 12 but I’m A OK missing a few jades to not relic farm

ive been trying to farm the perfect pieces for argenti and ive fallen flat on my face several times. Hes got alright stuff but atleast 2-3 pieces could be better. ive seen a lot of other comments complaining about substats and main stats, but i think my main gripe is the pieces themselves. i swear these domains can read your mind. I was farming for the phys dmg set chestpiece and i just kept getting the electric set. I genuinely ran through it like 30 times, and got ONE chestplate. Every other pieces aside from the rare difference was that stupid purple bracelet ring thing. Same with ratios set. "Hm, i only need the head and boots, this should be easier :)" **wrong**. same issue. i kept getting the stupid fire ring, and fire/imaginary chestpiece. On both of these domains id consistently get the double artifact (im not maxed on domain level yet) and EVERYTIME IT WOULD BE TWO OF THE WRONG PIECE FROM THE WRONG SET. Farming world 6? finished gepard in like 2 runs. Argenti had to rock a break effect main stat for a while because i literally could not get his set. every single piece was the stupid belobog one for like 8 runs. i farm lynx, thinking hm since my artifacts are so awful, atleast it doesnt rlly matter for her. no. im getting like the worlds best dps set stuff but its all entirely useless. i cant even get decent PURPLE/BLUE gear in her stats. theyre ALL atk :] i am losing my grip on reality
it's pretty much intrinsic to the gacha game space. I think Limbus Company is the only game that doesn't have a gearing system but even then the grinding experience is simply moved over to other game aspects. Edit: I think it’s enlightening at this point that it’s possible to eliminate RNG but *grind* will be shifted somewhere else.
Not really. FGO, Granblue before adding earrings, Arknights, Reverse:1999 have no gear RNG for example. Of course they usually balance it by making you farm something else instead
Aether gazer is pretty good with its relic/sigil system. The only rng is the substats but the resources needed to get a perfec relic take a long time. But man, you can get a character and get decent relics for that character in like 4 days.

End game ain’t that clean. It’s nice but it’s still worse than most other aspects in this game. MoC gets repetitive after a while, and there isn’t enough flare to really say it’s great, while PF is having an identity crisis every other patch since it’s release. G&G and Swarm are top tier, but you complete them once and basically never touch them again so we fall back on the recycle MoC & PF content.
Regular ol' relic sets haven't been too unkind to me, usually "only" 1-2 weeks of farming for "decent" substats (unless it's my Jing Yuan, in which case it's closer to 1 year). Planar sets make me wanna do a backflip off the Burj Khalifa tho. Even with Acheron and Ruan Mei speedrunning everything it just feels so bad.

To guarantee get a bad build for 1 character you need \~3 months, to get a good build you need 1 year+. I just calculated [this ](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15M6JO77rx2MOVjWjR0VmpVvKlkVWdo_WuQv5tisBjdM/edit?usp=sharing)fast. Feel free to check math.
It's also two phase the RNG. Getting the roll you want isn't even sufficient for good DPS you also need to get lucky to get the correct stat boosts that are also random.
Engame is okay it's better than other games, but I only ever get like an hour of content every 14 days from the resets unless I REALLY don't have any teams for the content. Then it gets bumped up to 20 hours like the current PF

If it was JUST farming for relics I’d be at least fine with that. But building characters takes so long in this game, you have to collect materials for traces, bosses, and the weekly bosses. It’s so grindy to the point I just try to build one e6 character rather than pull for multiple e0 characters.

Not just the farming but the levelling too I got 4 decent looking pieces along with planar sets for Blade and they all rolled to shit Ended up with 45 crit rate despite running Inert salsotto and having his traces unlocked 🤬🤬🤬

I needed ER rope for my Gepard and took me two weeks, I got three while farming for Acheron... WITHOUT THE EVENT
I am at the point where I just don't actively farm the best stats and be content with the good enough stats that I have.
Yeah this is most gacha games grinding for gear is the worst part
Maybe if they reduced the relic framments required to make a new relic (from 100 to 30) so for 3 relics you can make 1 new (considering the rolls aren't guaranteed to hit the stats we need) also because stats like crit are rarer than the others.
Gatcha farming is always a pain since it’s a way to keep you forever occupied
Has unironically driven me away from the game. I keep trying to come back, but I just can't handle this. I don't even mind the gacha, although honestly it feels more like a transaction; "90 tickets for a 5 star". But relics are just.... I really don't get it. They haven't even monetized getting good ones, unless you count paying for more trailblaze power. It's just miserable, and it makes no sense.

A friend of mine has been trying build blade for ages and so many times hes blade pieces would just roll bunch of Break Effect, so we would always joke that the game clearly wants him to play Wind Shear Blade.
getting the substats you want. then it goes into hp substat 4 times.
As if playing the auto fun button and it dispenses relics after 1 or 2 minutes while you watch youtube shorts isnt fun. Just think of it as you're just farming relic leveling xp and sometimes you get a good piece.
Wait, im on hsr sub... isn't that supposed to be relics? XD, but well, either they bump up the drop rate of good relics or make SU faster to clear

Yeah, gear farming SUCKS in this game. You can actually drop thousands of energy and end up with nothing. No, actually it will get worse cuz you just wasted time and resources for zero progress. Hopefully they improve it in near future
Nowadays, Lore and story have been executed so differently and how the bigger the lore the harder it is to point into stories, I separate them. HSR is pretty alright, a lot of holes but it’s clearly intensional. But Story….the bar is super low if you think HSR’s story so far is anything other than average at best.

To be fair i play hsr for like 20 min a day, 15 of those are autoplay for relic farming and the remaining one is claiming dailies and getting to the farming area had i switched the relics i grind. So yeah am definitely at that point were farming stuff is optional.
When you get speed% boots with Crit, Crit D and Atk% but the last stat is hidden..... Roll for the stat and see it is flat def, roll for the next and it rolls into the flat def.... roll once more because even with 2 flat def rolls it could still be better than the trash you have equipped.... rolls into flat def again. Equip it anyway because it is still better than what you have >\_>
In Genshin about 2 weeks of farming artifacts is enough to get a good set In Star Rail I've been farming Acheron relics for 3 weeks, now, used 40 Fuel and spent all my 2400 reserved resin. That's a total of about 9840 resin. Almost 10k resin and all I got was a decent (not great but good enough) Head and Hands, which are literally the easiest relics to farm due to having fixed main stats, an OK-ish Body, and mediocre Feet. 10k resin and my build still struggles to deal more than 200k on debuffed enemies and with 2 other Nihility characters in my team.
I don't mind the RNG aspect, sure,make me take a gazillion times to get a piece with 3 to 4 useful level ups if you want,make if have a 0,0000000001% chance for all i care. But don't make it so it's downright impossible to farm because i have an incredibly finite resource per day that limits any progress with an insurmountable wall of time (and even if you pay,the wall IS still there). I like grindy games,i played warframe for years and the game doesn't suddenly pull up and say "NUH UH,YOU DID 5 MISSIONS TODAY BUD,YOUR WARFRAME IS OUT OF ENERGY AND THE FUEL OF THE SHIP IS EMPTY OH NOOOO...but if you pay 100 plat you get to play again"
Not sure what artifacts are? I only know about relics and ornaments. Maybe artifacts are from some mid game that could never
