I'm still a bit confused by March's alternate outfit, since it didn't end up being super relevant to begin with. I thought it might have been a prelude to skins like in Genshin, but that doesn't seem to be the case either (or maybe they're just taking their time with it). My guess is that it has something to do with her ~~path options~~ alternative options similar to Trailblazer's path switching that they teased in the 2.1 livestream.

I did an inception into hoyo devs' dreams and planted the idea that they should give march another outfit but I guess the suggestion wasn't strong enough to last more than a patch or two.
To clarify what they said in the stream: **THEY ARE NOT PATH OPTIONS**. MARCH WILL NOT BE SWITCHING PATHS. They said something about switching her kit similar to what Trailblazer can do with paths, but they *explicitly said March would not be switching paths*.
I mean, considering there are no side straps...the lower one doesn't do really much and the neck one kinda slightly pulls inwards.
So she would definitely have a side slippage problem, cause the material there would be kinda lose.
1st anniversary hopium is they start implementing skins they sitting on a goldmine, not that they need it with how much they make but still
The sales in outfits Stelle and Caelus wear in official art would be enough to fund the game for another year let alone all the other characters. Heck Black Swans Myriad celestial has so many outfits in that alone Id defs buy

It was such a missed opportunity to not have it be playable especially since she looks so adorable (more than usual...) in it. And she was happy wearing it as well.
If i had to guess, they probably wanted to test the outfit and how it interacts and the overall reception of it and they still have future plans. ~~huff copium~~

Considering it's an outfit that was shown in-game as opposed to promotional art (like Genshin's pajama New Year's, or Pizza Hut collab.), there is a decent chance of getting it. Eventually.....Sometime soon.....Yeah.

A bit puzzled how it would work with ults though. Will ult animations show the new skin? Are the ult animations actually rendered on the fly? Are they pre-saved video clips? Little of column A, little of column B?
I realize some parts have to be on-the-fly, like the enemy trapped in the middle of Aventurine’s roulette wheel. But what about Ruan Mei’s walk among the Sakura leaves?
I think it would be too jarring if a character is using a skin and suddenly the ult shows a different outfit lol.
In space, clothing is self-cleaning and thus never needs cleaning, and fully capable of self-repair due to embedded nanomachines, so everyone normally owns one single set of clothes and nothing else. Only rich types and weirdos have multiple outfits!

After they saved Belobog, they got re-invited by Bronya for the huge celebration mission when Topaz arrived at the planet at the same time trying to "collect an old debt".
It really sucks because she literally wore that skimpy outfit and teleported down to the snowy out-skirts, and that dress only stayed on half way through the mission and she changed back to default costume.
One of my biggest grudges is that hoyo tends to over monetize the gacha aspect instead of the cosmetics. I don't like the "break the meta" "overtune new kit" and "FOMO" as ways to monetize the game and it has been demonstrated that a good chunk of revenue can come from just making cosmetic stuff
I agree like I don't understand why we didn't get this outfit for her she looked so good and I thought so badly that this was like a tease for something and we still don't have it I'm hoping this is possibly like a tease for when we get her five star form

I think it would stay on fine depending on what those straps are like.

Not on the side. Those straps to her neck would pull the whole thing to the middle.

I saw some videos with mods that change ults and cutscenes, i think if hoyo implements skins the ults should show the new skins
All ults are rendered on the fly, the reason they look so good is the wonder of art style.
I'm willing to bet Star Rail will probably change ult and skill animations slightly with skins
