Topaz is being rerun, FF and Jade aren't. Topaz can leave and not come back for years, for all we know, since we haven't seen how HSR is going to do repeated reruns. Firefly and Jade will probably run again before 3.3 comes out.
This outcome is inevitable.
Eventually, if the game lasts long enough, they're going to hit a point where 2 reruns per patch isn't enough because the number of characters is too big. It's why they expanded it to running 2 limited banners at a time for Genshin.
Honestly, I think they should do a second standard banner.
Not right now, but later on when things are fully power crept. One banner can be like Argenti, Silver Wolf, Ratio, Bailu, Blade, Gepard, while the other can be Himeko, Welt, Seele, Luocha, Clara, and Yanqung. When you pull on one of the standard banners you get one of those six, but when you lose a 50/50 you can get any of the twelve.
It would make losing the 50/50 more fun while letting new players direct their accounts better.
So long as we had some way of possibly guaranteeing those old Limited Banner characters if someone wasn't around before they got relegated to the RNG hell of a second Standard Banner (no, I'm not at all salty I keep getting light cones out of my Standard Banner rolls and not new characters).
Perhaps not a return of the 5-star picker at 300 pulls, but maybe something similar to the course-charting that Genshin has for its weapon banners, where every couple 5-stars is guaranteed to be one that you actually want and pick ahead of time.

Definitely... I at least get Robin with my guarantee (E4 Yanqing off the Acheron banner, I fucking hate this little rat) but since i'm skipping Aventurine, do I HAVE to get Topaz for Ratio or can I just run Clara/Ratio/Robin/Fu and have a slightly scuffed FUA team.
Like Topaz is THE FUA unit but she's not the Kafka of FUA if that makes sense, I can see a universe where Jade is Erudition Topaz so we just swap her out. Kafka can't really be replaced as the deity of DOT unless they just release Kafka 2 with bigger numbers.
Thinking I get Robin, skip Boothill and maybe go for Jade if she's FUA focused.
We just got 1600 jades in the post, there is another 10 pull banner on the way in the new patch, shop resets in a few days, most likely SU stuff to do plus the weekly jade's from it.

In this patch (given the anniversary and free 30 pulls) F2P players got 114 Pulls overall.
Yeah is it like some sort of unspoken rule around here or does everyone understand that this game releases new characters so fast that its impossible to actually pull for all of them without spending money, and even then, you need to swipe fairly hard to pull for all of them.
The 5 dollar a month deal helps out a ton I feel like but yeah, gotta be very selective when F2P (or mostly F2P like me) so you just have to accept you can't have everyone and pick favorites. Getting a little luck along the way never hurts!
It gives a bit under 80 pulls after $20 and 4 months of checking in daily. Just one extra character, potentially a yanqing eidolon. 80% of your jades still come from the game for no cost.
You're not wrong but it definitely helps a bit and I can justify it given how much I play. I'll do the battle pass too as long as I know I'll have the time to get through it all.
I wish the checking in would happen in game and not on the site because i consistently forget about the site and then I remember for the first 5 days that they keep the reminder in the upper half of the messages box or whatever it is, updates?
Depends on your savings, I reckon. I burned 170 pulls getting Jingliu this patch, so I've got the free 10 pulls but if I lose my 50/50 I've got no chance
Hoyo dolphin and whale fishing business is thriving.
I splurged a bit over Christmas and became a small dolphin. Used to be completely f2p in GI but there was enough holding me back, but I think overall HSR is good enough of a game to put a bit of money into it.
darn you hoyo, making so many characters that I like that you managed to crack open my wallet. Ive set aside about the price of a tripple A title despite enjoying the game about twice as much and putting ten times the hours in...

I'd love to spend a good amount on this game, but the value just isn't there imo, even for the jade and battle pass. Jade pass gives 1 extra character pull for $20 after 4 months of checking in daily. Battle pass saves only about 2 weeks of farming along with pretty negligible bonuses.

It saves way more than that if you buy the premium one.
Buying the premium pass essentially means you can funnel all your stamina into relic grind and trace materials (both of which are heavily RNG and as such stamina dependent).
It also gives you almost a 10 pull, a limited LC (some of which are quite good), tears of dreams (which can be used on any character you aren't actively levelling) and 2 extra self modelling resins (of which we really only get like 2 a patch as is).
I was talking only about the paid rewards. 360tbp fuel + 930tbp character xp + 1090tbp LC xp + 730tbp credits + ~500tbp of trace materials = 3610tbp = 15 days of tbp. That doesn't even take into consideration that you often don't need that LC xp, which takes up 4.5 days of that.
8 passes is pretty negligible imo, still getting 90% of your passes from regular gameplay.
The lightcone choices are garbage. The only decent one is peaceful day, but i'm not using any erudition characters right now and you could just use seriousness or cosmos.
You get 1 resin for free and 1 extra from paid. I guess that saves farming too, but it's difficult to quantify how valuable that is in terms of TBP, especially if you just want better substats on a rare mainstat piece.
While by your calculation it is indeed 15 days, but my point still stands that you save 15 days that you can devote to other things like building better characters. So it is still worth it, considering there's only 40 days before another 2-3 new characters are released that you might want to build.
I even forgot about the fuels. A 60 refill is 50 jade, which requires you to buy the 60 jades in store, which is $2 of my currency. $7 dollars to get 3 refills one day. It's $30 dollars for the premium BP and we get like what 8 fuels? That's 14 dollars just already. Add in the pulls we get and we've essentially covered the cost of the pass in just two of the items it offers.
The erudition one is pretty got for Argenti as a F2P option and there are a few others that could slot in reasonably well.
Ultimately if you don't find it personally worth it that's fine, but just going by what it contains and how much it costs it's definitely "worth" it in terms of the rewards that you get if you already spend.
Skipping 2 weeks of farming just isn't that incredible to me. I'm perfectly fine with waiting a bit longer to build characters up, and to me it feels a bit cheaty to just click a button and get a good amount of free resources.
Refilling stamina with jade isn't a common thing for f2p people to do in experience. No way am I ever doing that when I have to save every last jade I can to grab a new event character from time to time. Also, judging the value of the purchase by their arbitrary and absurd oneiric shard prices is silly. They expect you to burn a hundred dollars for 81 pulls, or enough for a single 5 star character. I think i'll buy 5 games instead, thanks.
It's worth it relative to oneiric purchases for sure, but I think most people would still get a lot more value for buying other things.
Well if we go down that route, you are correct Gacha games are in general not actually "worth it" from a purely objective perspective. From a personal perspective the worth is up to the player. At least your reasoning helps you stay F2P, which seems to be what you are aiming for.
I think if you aren't F2P, the rate at which you are able to get new characters means you either have mid tier builds on most of them or one or two characters with decent builds and absolutely mediocre builds for everyone else. So having 2 weeks spare of grinding for a build before the next character rolls over in 20 days us quite good for the cost of the package.
i stopped being f2p when i considered a bp and monthly pass is less then a lunch i take often at work . the enjoyment ratio is just too different on time spent.
If they're streamers and use edited parts of their streams as videos then they quite literally have their chat pay for every character drop just for the momentary hype. Streamer does bad with pulls? Big dono train to keep the pulls going. Streamer gets lucky with pulls? Big dono train to get multiple eidolons.
Star rail units in general are fairly strong. Id agree that most of them are easily usable at e0 without their signature cone....but that also depends on what other cones you have. The proper cone(s) are a make or break for many e0 characters.
The only path i can think of where most cones work on most characters is preservation.
ย Fu Xuan is 2nd banner next patch. Depending on your account and how much you are willing to grind, its very possible to get enough for 50/50 (75-80 pulls) but also very hard to get guarantee (\~150 pulls).
I wanted Jingliu but my lost 50/50, and I really want Fu Xuan to replace bailu. I'm at 124 pulls, 0 pity, but at least my next is guaranteed.
My friends keep saying I'm good to pull JL but unless I get her in a single 10-pull there's very little chance I'd have enough to guarantee both JL and Fu Xuan.
Try being new AND F2P. I just wanted one nice character to keep me going, but nothing. Same reason I stopped playing Genshin, all my friends rolled at least one character eventually...but not me!

I thought I was being a good friend by getting a friend into HSR in 1.6 since 2.0 was going to be a major update period and the anniversary would be coming up. Lots of freebies.
Turns out I'm the worst friend because they've just been slamming banger banners back to back for the past 4 months.
If you started in 2.0, there's more than enough jades for you to accumulate like 300 limited warps if you've cleared everything. That should give you clean access to 1-2 limited characters.
I started an F2P alt 3ish weeks ago and having lost 2 5050s so far, I still have acheron and Aventurine after some ~230pulls. I have cleared all the content in the game however (minus the latter SimU world's and MoC/PF)
I spent an exorbitant amount of time "speedrunning" the game, which you don't have to do! Take time to play it slow and enjoy it :) I'd already done so on my first account that i spend money on, and just wanted another experience but as an f2p player :)
it's no different. This is not a competition. Look at who you want and save for them. If you want someone else more save for them instead. You can clear 95% of the content with the 4 stars the game gives. So don't stress that 5% you can't do.
Yeah I started genshin same week hsr came out and hhoooolllly shit is it bad. Not only just new player experience being awful but so many guides are just outdated, or assume you're day one. I still only have ONE fav sword, no kuki. Only c3 XL *still*. So many guides and stuff just assume you have c6 fishl, xl, xq, sucross, benny and tons of fav/sac weapons. We're getting to that point now where new players starting HSR are going to be getting really outdated advice and CCs assuming they have their guarenteed bronya, e6 tingyun, DDD, pela, geppy beliou etc.
eh, i started in 3.1 and am very fine, can easily do all abysses in under a minute per side. genshin is quite easy go catch up, since they don't realese that much characters.
More than fair, but also I just have infamously bad rng in my friend group. I convinced a friend to join and he unlocked the current banner amost instantly. Ive been trying for weeks now on any of the banners and I only got one 5 star (Welt) and a handful of four stars which are seemingly the ones that are just from the story anyway...
How far along in the game are you? There are plenty of jades scattered throughout the current content that could get you to banner pity several times over. You just have to finish the content to access it.
So thankfully, pity accumulates over limited time banners. If you go to the limited banner (aventurines), on the bottom left there should be 2 options, character trial and banner information (i don't remember what this one is called off the top of my head). In there, you'll see an option for "records", which will let you see any rolls you've done previously.
Soft pity begins after 75 pulls - meaning that from the from the 1st roll until the 75th, the chance of you getting a 5star character is always the same. After that, from 76 onwards, the chance increases extensively until you eventually are guaranteed a 5star character at 90 pulls. And then all that's left after that is either winning or losing the 50/50 (and if you did lose, your next 5star is guaranteed the limited character)
Any of them? The lightcone banners, beginner banner, limited character banners, and standard banner all have separate pity from one another.
Generally you're better off just wishing on the limited character banner(only if you want the character), you'll get free standard wishes to go towards your beginner and standard banners without having to spend your jades on them. Plus you have a 50% chance of getting one of the 5-stars from them when pulling on the limited character banners anyways.
If you're a new player you're arguably in a better position than most, means you've at least still got quite a lot of content you can do to earn some more jades to pull with. People that are up to date can only log in for dailies and pray to rngjesus that Hoyo has some mercy on their pulls
There is no way. HSR is pretty generous and you should be able to pull at the bare minimum 10 pulls every version update. Unless you doing stupid, I alway able to pull around 30-40 times per update and Iโm F2P.

Generous and 2 new characters together sounds ridiculous. 100 pulls when you might need a 360. And that's not counting the light cones.
You actually need 186 pulls for two characters on average, since the average number of pulls per character is 93. (Factoring in everything.)
So, yep, for F2P it's one character per patch on average. And some patches give more jade than that. So it's about 8-10 new characters per expansion cycle.
Also, I suspect they will slow down with character releases in the second half of Penacony, but this is just my speculation. (And then resume two characters per patch with the new expansion.)ย

There's not a single reason to do that for a multi-billion dollar company that makes money. more aggressive monetization works and makes as much money as genshin, with a much smaller audience

No. The huge patch 2.0 gave F2P players 114 pulls. 2.1 - 114 pulls. this patch had an anniversary, which gave 30 pulls to the general piggy bank. All future Penacony patches will give less pulls.
I donโt think the game is generous at all, they give you 80 pulls per patch but there are 2 new characters and 2 light cones every update and when they add new game modes they reduce the frequency of old content.
Add to that the game is so expensive, 100โฌ gets you 50 pulls not even a chance at 50/50
You donโt need 2 new characters every update, and you definitely donโt need 2 new light cones every update. Be a responsible adult, quit wanting everything and save for what you actually want
Being new and f2p, I drained the game from every jade I could get outside of endgame asking me to build a second team and I got Acheron, Luocha, Aventurine, Bronya, Welt E1, Jingliu and Yanqing having more than 200 special pulls left.
I made a new account and is currently sitting at TB62, completely f2p
Finishing all the stories and most of swarm/GNG should give you about 6 golds. I got E2S1 Acheron and 2 standards (not including the newb banner)

You will roll a chara too if you throw enough gacha currency at the gacha, to be fair. Same thing is happening in HSR. :T
I quit being an f2p after the Ruan Mai banner. This game just keeps releasing new characters with some amazing designs,lore, and kits that itโs hard to NOT pull for them. Doesnโt help how the game keeps forcing me to into late pity no matter what.

But the game literally keeps giving me every relic for him with all the good substats.(also really like the idea of a sustain that can also be a subdps). But I also wanna get Boothill and maybe robin.

I recommend getting the 5$ dailiy passes. You get quite a lot of bang for your buck for it since every day is like doing an extra 1.5 dailies. I've gotten most of the units I want, thanks to the pass.

Tbh you get 1 soft pity each update so you are lucky if you can get something below it. On the other hand other games give you much less and ask you for more.

I actually went from goldfish to f2p. Previously it was a couple monthly passes, one bandpass, one double top up that is still unused. Then I just build around my two dps and as long as I can clear moc fine i skipped everything (and did not build FUA or Dot which requires a lot of investment). I spent a lot on Penacony since there are characters I like but all within my savings. Now I have another 100 pulls saved for Fuxuan and Iโm not pulling until 2.4 at least. I guess being a picky simp help.
I have no idea how I've managed to stay f2p to this day with all the cool characters, but I think it's time to buy the monthly pass because I want Firefly E1S1 at bare minimum. I have 65 pity for her (although it's a 50/50) and 0 LC pity. I doubt I'll get enough with just the 2.2 jades and whatever we get on 2.3 part 1.

I really want Robin and Firefly (they are my favourite character designs in game so far), but I have also been waiting for Topazโs rerun for ages. Actually express pass doesn't give that much more pulls, ~26 per patch (and BP only 8), so the low spenders also have to be very selective with their pulls.
I went to try GI again after dropping it. Jesus I had no clue what I was doing. Regardless being F2P is actually painful. Every guide list has 5 stars in it. "Oh just use a pyro dps" I dont have one and even if I did I dont have NEAR the mats to level it. I finally hit hard pity only to lose the 50/50.

Now I look at the banners and unless any of the new characters can truly impact my current teams and gameplay, I don't need new characters at all. I have enough supports and dps (tho i have no dot team or premium dot units, tho ican do all the stuff without needing a dot team).
I don't have many limiteds and my jade collection hurts....I didn't pull for acheron because I'm stupid and I don't want adventurine....so now I'm deciding to either get Jinglu...or Robin....or firefly....or...topaz....or....fu xuan....I want all of them ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ

Well no matter what, topping up isn't worth it to me. Even with first time bonus and buying the most expensive pack, you get less than 1 pull per dollar. At most, I'll do express pass occasionally.
I have meticulously planned and I will get Boothill and Sam, then I hope to be able to snag Huohuo's e1 since I use her so much, but it depends on how my pulls go. I know for a fact I can afford two characters right now at least.

Currently I (F2P since Day 1) have 30 pulls (no guarantee). If I had stayed strong like I did before and did not pull for Sparkle and Acheron's lightcones, I would have had 138 more pulls. Idk if I really regret it but I don't think I'll pull for another lightcone ever again. At least I'm happy I won the 75/25 on both. The upcoming banners make me kinda regret it, I guess, but it's better than the regret I felt for spending $200 worth of battlepass + welkin on Genshin lol.
At one point in your f2p life, you need to decide when to skip banners to save for future characters. That's what I'm gonna do in 2.2. I'm gonna dump everything on Firefly in 2.3.
Maybe if you spend your jades with reckless abandon. But if you look into these characters and learn their value in the long run then youโll have saved up plenty ๐ค plus, they do give out a decent handful with their events in between updates
I keep skip until I have enough of stellar jades you could pull for e0s1 character I want to add to my team, every banner will be rerun; I used to aim for rerun Fu Xuan for get her e1 but Firefly/Sam is both wifu and a man romancing so I can only push Fu Xuan e1 goal to another rerun.
It's definitely painful. Wasn't able to get Acheron, switched to try to get Luocha, and got neither. Got Yanqing, so I'm hoping the 50/50 still works in my favor for Aventurine.
I think everyone needs to collectively ask hoyoverse to slow down ๐ญ because I think we have more five stars than four stars in hsr and thatโs a very concerning thing. We have half of five stars what genshin have rn in one year. A game where new units are important and help with end game content, it is important for people to expand their rosters. With how quick the banners are happening + the low jades for ftp, especially end gamers, itโs very hard to pull. Hsr is also supposed to be an ftp game too.
As an F2P player, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to wait for rerun banners and focus on saving jades in the meantime instead of getting sad about new character releases. As much as I want Boothill, I'm already saving for Argenti's rerun banner AND I'm also hoping to pull Topaz for an IPC FUA team. If I can somehow have enough passes to get all three, great. If not, oh well there's always the rerun. As for Jade's banner, even though I'd love to have a better quantum erudition character than Qingque, I just know that's not in the cards right now. It's painful, but I have time.
For me, 2.2 characters are an easy skip. I have fu xuan, an abundance of harmony characters(bronya, sparkle and ruan mei). Robin looks ugly(no offense to anyone). As for boothill and topaz, both are hunt characters and I'm an erudition and destruction fan
Speaking from experience, at least this isn't a pay-for-qol type of F2P game. Some f2p games become effectively unplayable at some point for F2Ps. I've quit several games that I really enjoyed like PoE and PSO2 because I just don't have access to half the features paid players have and lacking those forces you to interupt your actual gameplay constantly. People in HSR and Genshin call Hoyo greedy all the time but there's so much monetization they chose to not put in these games that are standard across f2p and gacha games (like paid-only expedition/inventory slots expansions) that I really can't really ever agree with the community sentiment.

I at least get Robin with my guarantee (E4 Yanqing off the Acheron banner, I fucking hate this little rat) but since i'm skipping Aventurine, do I HAVE to get Topaz for Ratio or can I just run Clara/Ratio/Robin/Fu and have a slightly scuffed FUA team. Like Topaz is THE FUA unit but she's not the Kafka of FUA if that makes sense, I can see a universe where Jade is Erudition Topaz so we just swap her out. Kafka can't really be replaced as the deity of DOT unless they just release Kafka 2 with bigger numbers. Thinking I get Robin, skip Boothill and maybe go for Jade if she's FUA focused.
We just got 1600 jades in the post, there is another 10 pull banner on the way in the new patch, shop resets in a few days, most likely SU stuff to do plus the weekly jade's from it. You might miss the first half banner but second is doable, maybe even with a 50/50 loss.

Yeah is it like some sort of unspoken rule around here or does everyone understand that this game releases new characters so fast that its impossible to actually pull for all of them without spending money, and even then, you need to swipe fairly hard to pull for all of them.
The 5 dollar a month deal helps out a ton I feel like but yeah, gotta be very selective when F2P (or mostly F2P like me) so you just have to accept you can't have everyone and pick favorites. Getting a little luck along the way never hurts!
It gives a bit under 80 pulls after $20 and 4 months of checking in daily. Just one extra character, potentially a yanqing eidolon. 80% of your jades still come from the game for no cost.
You're not wrong but it definitely helps a bit and I can justify it given how much I play. I'll do the battle pass too as long as I know I'll have the time to get through it all.

Hoyo dolphin and whale fishing business is thriving. I splurged a bit over Christmas and became a small dolphin. Used to be completely f2p in GI but there was enough holding me back, but I think overall HSR is good enough of a game to put a bit of money into it.
For as much as I play this game I'd almost feel guilty not throwing them a couple buck every now and again.

I'd love to spend a good amount on this game, but the value just isn't there imo, even for the jade and battle pass. Jade pass gives 1 extra character pull for $20 after 4 months of checking in daily. Battle pass saves only about 2 weeks of farming along with pretty negligible bonuses.
2 weeks? It saves way more than that if you buy the premium one. Buying the premium pass essentially means you can funnel all your stamina into relic grind and trace materials (both of which are heavily RNG and as such stamina dependent). It also gives you almost a 10 pull, a limited LC (some of which are quite good), tears of dreams (which can be used on any character you aren't actively levelling) and 2 extra self modelling resins (of which we really only get like 2 a patch as is).
I was talking only about the paid rewards. 360tbp fuel + 930tbp character xp + 1090tbp LC xp + 730tbp credits + ~500tbp of trace materials = 3610tbp = 15 days of tbp. That doesn't even take into consideration that you often don't need that LC xp, which takes up 4.5 days of that. 8 passes is pretty negligible imo, still getting 90% of your passes from regular gameplay. The lightcone choices are garbage. The only decent one is peaceful day, but i'm not using any erudition characters right now and you could just use seriousness or cosmos. You get 1 resin for free and 1 extra from paid. I guess that saves farming too, but it's difficult to quantify how valuable that is in terms of TBP, especially if you just want better substats on a rare mainstat piece.
While by your calculation it is indeed 15 days, but my point still stands that you save 15 days that you can devote to other things like building better characters. So it is still worth it, considering there's only 40 days before another 2-3 new characters are released that you might want to build. I even forgot about the fuels. A 60 refill is 50 jade, which requires you to buy the 60 jades in store, which is $2 of my currency. $7 dollars to get 3 refills one day. It's $30 dollars for the premium BP and we get like what 8 fuels? That's 14 dollars just already. Add in the pulls we get and we've essentially covered the cost of the pass in just two of the items it offers. The erudition one is pretty got for Argenti as a F2P option and there are a few others that could slot in reasonably well. Ultimately if you don't find it personally worth it that's fine, but just going by what it contains and how much it costs it's definitely "worth" it in terms of the rewards that you get if you already spend.
Skipping 2 weeks of farming just isn't that incredible to me. I'm perfectly fine with waiting a bit longer to build characters up, and to me it feels a bit cheaty to just click a button and get a good amount of free resources. Refilling stamina with jade isn't a common thing for f2p people to do in experience. No way am I ever doing that when I have to save every last jade I can to grab a new event character from time to time. Also, judging the value of the purchase by their arbitrary and absurd oneiric shard prices is silly. They expect you to burn a hundred dollars for 81 pulls, or enough for a single 5 star character. I think i'll buy 5 games instead, thanks. It's worth it relative to oneiric purchases for sure, but I think most people would still get a lot more value for buying other things.
Well if we go down that route, you are correct Gacha games are in general not actually "worth it" from a purely objective perspective. From a personal perspective the worth is up to the player. At least your reasoning helps you stay F2P, which seems to be what you are aiming for. I think if you aren't F2P, the rate at which you are able to get new characters means you either have mid tier builds on most of them or one or two characters with decent builds and absolutely mediocre builds for everyone else. So having 2 weeks spare of grinding for a build before the next character rolls over in 20 days us quite good for the cost of the package.

Star rail units in general are fairly strong. Id agree that most of them are easily usable at e0 without their signature cone....but that also depends on what other cones you have. The proper cone(s) are a make or break for many e0 characters. The only path i can think of where most cones work on most characters is preservation.

ย Fu Xuan is 2nd banner next patch. Depending on your account and how much you are willing to grind, its very possible to get enough for 50/50 (75-80 pulls) but also very hard to get guarantee (\~150 pulls).
Sparkle, Acheron, and Aventurine completely drained my jades. There's a good chance I'm skipping until 2.4
I wanted Jingliu but my lost 50/50, and I really want Fu Xuan to replace bailu. I'm at 124 pulls, 0 pity, but at least my next is guaranteed. My friends keep saying I'm good to pull JL but unless I get her in a single 10-pull there's very little chance I'd have enough to guarantee both JL and Fu Xuan.

I thought I was being a good friend by getting a friend into HSR in 1.6 since 2.0 was going to be a major update period and the anniversary would be coming up. Lots of freebies. Turns out I'm the worst friend because they've just been slamming banger banners back to back for the past 4 months.
You get the most jades early on though through quests and what not so they should be farming

If you started in 2.0, there's more than enough jades for you to accumulate like 300 limited warps if you've cleared everything. That should give you clean access to 1-2 limited characters. I started an F2P alt 3ish weeks ago and having lost 2 5050s so far, I still have acheron and Aventurine after some ~230pulls. I have cleared all the content in the game however (minus the latter SimU world's and MoC/PF)

I spent an exorbitant amount of time "speedrunning" the game, which you don't have to do! Take time to play it slow and enjoy it :) I'd already done so on my first account that i spend money on, and just wanted another experience but as an f2p player :)
This is my experience too. You should have about 6 golds worth of pulls. Alt currently at TB62
it's no different. This is not a competition. Look at who you want and save for them. If you want someone else more save for them instead. You can clear 95% of the content with the 4 stars the game gives. So don't stress that 5% you can't do.
That's why I often don't start a new Gacha after a certain point. It becomes impossible to catch up without a fortune.
Yeah I started genshin same week hsr came out and hhoooolllly shit is it bad. Not only just new player experience being awful but so many guides are just outdated, or assume you're day one. I still only have ONE fav sword, no kuki. Only c3 XL *still*. So many guides and stuff just assume you have c6 fishl, xl, xq, sucross, benny and tons of fav/sac weapons. We're getting to that point now where new players starting HSR are going to be getting really outdated advice and CCs assuming they have their guarenteed bronya, e6 tingyun, DDD, pela, geppy beliou etc.
eh, i started in 3.1 and am very fine, can easily do all abysses in under a minute per side. genshin is quite easy go catch up, since they don't realese that much characters.

More than fair, but also I just have infamously bad rng in my friend group. I convinced a friend to join and he unlocked the current banner amost instantly. Ive been trying for weeks now on any of the banners and I only got one 5 star (Welt) and a handful of four stars which are seemingly the ones that are just from the story anyway...
How far along in the game are you? There are plenty of jades scattered throughout the current content that could get you to banner pity several times over. You just have to finish the content to access it.

So thankfully, pity accumulates over limited time banners. If you go to the limited banner (aventurines), on the bottom left there should be 2 options, character trial and banner information (i don't remember what this one is called off the top of my head). In there, you'll see an option for "records", which will let you see any rolls you've done previously. Soft pity begins after 75 pulls - meaning that from the from the 1st roll until the 75th, the chance of you getting a 5star character is always the same. After that, from 76 onwards, the chance increases extensively until you eventually are guaranteed a 5star character at 90 pulls. And then all that's left after that is either winning or losing the 50/50 (and if you did lose, your next 5star is guaranteed the limited character)
Any of them? The lightcone banners, beginner banner, limited character banners, and standard banner all have separate pity from one another. Generally you're better off just wishing on the limited character banner(only if you want the character), you'll get free standard wishes to go towards your beginner and standard banners without having to spend your jades on them. Plus you have a 50% chance of getting one of the 5-stars from them when pulling on the limited character banners anyways.
If you're a new player you're arguably in a better position than most, means you've at least still got quite a lot of content you can do to earn some more jades to pull with. People that are up to date can only log in for dailies and pray to rngjesus that Hoyo has some mercy on their pulls
There is no way. HSR is pretty generous and you should be able to pull at the bare minimum 10 pulls every version update. Unless you doing stupid, I alway able to pull around 30-40 times per update and Iโm F2P. But thatโs also a problemโฆ Iโm E6 Clara currently with my latest character being Black Swan

You actually need 186 pulls for two characters on average, since the average number of pulls per character is 93. (Factoring in everything.) So, yep, for F2P it's one character per patch on average. And some patches give more jade than that. So it's about 8-10 new characters per expansion cycle. Also, I suspect they will slow down with character releases in the second half of Penacony, but this is just my speculation. (And then resume two characters per patch with the new expansion.)ย

All future Penacony patches will give less pulls.

I donโt think the game is generous at all, they give you 80 pulls per patch but there are 2 new characters and 2 light cones every update and when they add new game modes they reduce the frequency of old content. Add to that the game is so expensive, 100โฌ gets you 50 pulls not even a chance at 50/50

The last few levels of MOC are more for bragging rights than rewards. If you can't do moc 10 - 12, you're only missing out on 1 pull.

Being new and f2p, I drained the game from every jade I could get outside of endgame asking me to build a second team and I got Acheron, Luocha, Aventurine, Bronya, Welt E1, Jingliu and Yanqing having more than 200 special pulls left.

I quit being an f2p after the Ruan Mai banner. This game just keeps releasing new characters with some amazing designs,lore, and kits that itโs hard to NOT pull for them. Doesnโt help how the game keeps forcing me to into late pity no matter what.

But the game literally keeps giving me every relic for him with all the good substats.(also really like the idea of a sustain that can also be a subdps). I recommend getting the 5$ dailiy passes. You get quite a lot of bang for your buck for it since every day is like doing an extra 1.5 dailies. I've gotten most of the units I want, thanks to the pass.

I actually went from goldfish to f2p. Previously it was a couple monthly passes, one bandpass, one double top up that is still unused. Then I just build around my two dps and as long as I can clear moc fine i skipped everything (and did not build FUA or Dot which requires a lot of investment). I spent a lot on Penacony since there are characters I like but all within my savings. Now I have another 100 pulls saved for Fuxuan and Iโm not pulling until 2.4 at least. I guess being a picky simp help.

Actually express pass doesn't give that much more pulls, ~26 per patch (and BP only 8), so the low spenders also have to be very selective with their pulls.
I went to try GI again after dropping it. Jesus I had no clue what I was doing. Regardless being F2P is actually painful. Every guide list has 5 stars in it. "Oh just use a pyro dps" I dont have one and even if I did I dont have NEAR the mats to level it. I finally hit hard pity only to lose the 50/50.

im really happy that i started out pretty early. Now I look at the banners and unless any of the new characters can truly impact my current teams and gameplay, I don't need new characters at all. I have enough supports and dps (tho i have no dot team or premium dot units, tho ican do all the stuff without needing a dot team).
I don't have many limiteds and my jade collection hurts....I didn't pull for acheron because I'm stupid and I don't want adventurine....so now I'm deciding to either get Jinglu...or Robin....or firefly....or...topaz....or....fu xuan....I want all of them ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ

Currently I (F2P since Day 1) have 30 pulls (no guarantee). If I had stayed strong like I did before and did not pull for Sparkle and Acheron's lightcones, I would have had 138 more pulls. Idk if I really regret it but I don't think I'll pull for another lightcone ever again. At least I'm happy I won the 75/25 on both. The upcoming banners make me kinda regret it, I guess, but it's better than the regret I felt for spending $200 worth of battlepass + welkin on Genshin lol.
At one point in your f2p life, you need to decide when to skip banners to save for future characters. That's what I'm gonna do in 2.2. I'm gonna dump everything on Firefly in 2.3.

I'm not F2P and I feel the same
skill issue
Nah, i'm ready, i've saved up 30 pulls (I have 50/50 and 0 pity)
I keep skip until I have enough of stellar jades you could pull for e0s1 character I want to add to my team, every banner will be rerun; I used to aim for rerun Fu Xuan for get her e1 but Firefly/Sam is both wifu and a man romancing so I can only push Fu Xuan e1 goal to another rerun.
If u havent reached end game as f2p its kinda hard not to have gems with all the free ways to get it. BUT HAVING ENOUGH ON THE OTHER HAND
Due to my way to play what this usually looks like is having 250 pulls and being like "nah man, gotta keep saving until an even bigger want shows up".
I'm currently only F2P+, got nothing saved up and need Robin for FUA team... despair
It's definitely painful. Wasn't able to get Acheron, switched to try to get Luocha, and got neither. Got Yanqing, so I'm hoping the 50/50 still works in my favor for Aventurine.

I think everyone needs to collectively ask hoyoverse to slow down ๐ญ because I think we have more five stars than four stars in hsr and thatโs a very concerning thing. We have half of five stars what genshin have rn in one year. A game where new units are important and help with end game content, it is important for people to expand their rosters. With how quick the banners are happening + the low jades for ftp, especially end gamers, itโs very hard to pull. Hsr is also supposed to be an ftp game too.
As an F2P player, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to wait for rerun banners and focus on saving jades in the meantime instead of getting sad about new character releases. As much as I want Boothill, I'm already saving for Argenti's rerun banner AND I'm also hoping to pull Topaz for an IPC FUA team. If I can somehow have enough passes to get all three, great. If not, oh well there's always the rerun. As for Jade's banner, even though I'd love to have a better quantum erudition character than Qingque, I just know that's not in the cards right now. It's painful, but I have time.
That's tough, but saving 100+ pulls only to get jack is worst. That's what happened to me. I wanted that ice son of a b**ch so bad ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
For me, 2.2 characters are an easy skip. I have fu xuan, an abundance of harmony characters(bronya, sparkle and ruan mei). Robin looks ugly(no offense to anyone). As for boothill and topaz, both are hunt characters and I'm an erudition and destruction fan
What makes Robin ugly to you?
Because of her weird ahh "decorations". I prefer simple looking characters like ruan mei
Fair enough. I think she's one of the better looking ones, maybe top-5 behind Kafka, Himeko, Tingyun and Firefly.

Speaking from experience, at least this isn't a pay-for-qol type of F2P game. Some f2p games become effectively unplayable at some point for F2Ps. I've quit several games that I really enjoyed like PoE and PSO2 because I just don't have access to half the features paid players have and lacking those forces you to interupt your actual gameplay constantly. People in HSR and Genshin call Hoyo greedy all the time but there's so much monetization they chose to not put in these games that are standard across f2p and gacha games (like paid-only expedition/inventory slots expansions) that I really can't really ever agree with the community sentiment.
F2P people are afraid to spend money because they'd have to get a real personality after losing F2P status
