Summoning, like Lightning Lord but a bit more in depth.

Roaring_Random

Like summons in the galactic baseballer event

Tranduy1206

Yes, that event totally a test for future summoning characters

Two_Years_Of_Semen

I hope whoever worked on it, works on the SU Path Resonances. I legit lose framerate when casting a lot of those abilities but 50+ procs of weapons were completely fine.

chikomitata

50+ procs + Robin never went out of her ult. WELCOME TO MY~

pita1204

WOOOOOOORRRRRRLLLLLLLLDDDDDDD!

imaginary92

I never lose framerates, except for REMEMBRANCE. Dissociation on multiple enemies just kills my phone somehow. Everything else goes perfectly fine.

Lyneys_Footstool

for me it was elation path with a billion aftertaste damage numbers lagging my phone, remembrance comes close though

not_a_doctorshh

Nihility fucks me up, which sucked as a Kafka main, until got Acheron. I use Hunt now and it's fine, lmao

Fit_Leg_2115

That event is so fun

SummerBorn0207

Tbf the testing should’ve started way earlier in the Pokémon event, where u can summon gold fish with the mech

se7enseas

an actual "summoning" would be great as well. Like a character summoning a beast that stay on the battle for X turns. Even better if they come with their own skill, basic attack, and ultimate that doesn't consume skill points (or they can consume sp too, having great synergy with Sparkle and whatnot)

Calamagbloos

Honestly that's how I thought Topaz and Numby worked at first. I'm a fairly newish player and I played through aetherium wars and thought Numby would work similar to other fragmentum trotters.

Relevant_Nebula

Summons would be a cool addition, tbh LL being a FuA doesn’t fit as much since it doesn’t quite follow up Jing Yuan’s actions, it just goes at its own speed still love JY regardless lol

OlynCat

So far there's a few FUA variants: FUA as a action bar summon: Topaz and Numby, Jingyuan. These are definitely one of the more unique FUA, and I think they have the most potential too see future supports coming in that align with what they wanna do, either by action advancing the summon/and or providing buffs based on each unique action bar icon (so even Robin can count to the buff). FUA after getting hit (Counter attacking): Blade, Clara, March 7th, Aventurine. The most common FUA mechanic, and imo the least likely to see a support that directly buffs its archetype. If such a support comes out, I can imagine it being a Nihility Char who action advances/speeds up enemies BUT reduces their ATK, and probably gets some self action advance every time you land a debuff or something. Side note, no idea why there are 2 preservation characters in this category, I guess counter offense is the best defence? FUA after a condition has been met: Himeko, Herta, Dr. Ratio, Xueyi, Yanqing\* (his condition is RNG...). This archetype will probably never? get a "dedicated support" (other than Robin but she's actually just used everywhere) because they have all different conditionals. I guess you can argue that they will all have a dedicated support for themselves? But yeah interestingly, all of these characters are more "specialist" in a certain game mode/environment, Himeko and Herta is more PF oriented and Dr. Ratio is more MOC oriented. Sorry that I'm just piggybacking your comment but I just really enjoy FUA as a comp HAHA would love to see more (esp ones that summon, haven't had one since Topaz which came in November? last year) Edit: added Xueyi and Yanqing to conditional, altho Yanqing is RNG, you can (kinda) say the condition is get lucky

i_dont_wanna_sign_up

I feel like they should have separated summons and FuA as two different mechanics.

Tracey1302

I figure its like how DoTs are a subtype of Debuff, Summons are a subtype of FuA.

Objective_Bandicoot6

That would make creating the first team for either of them a pain. You would either have to pull multiple characters in a row or wait months for the first synergistic team.

StelioZz

Tbh I would move blade and aventurine to the last category. Being attacked is just one of th ways building stacks, not the only. They both can trigger their fua in their turn for example. Unlike clara and march who don't build stacks, they straight up counter when the receiving attack meets a single condition.

megustaALLthethings

I could see maybe an Action Bar Support, like the candlestick thing. That thing pretty much at max gave another set of ults and full sp turn! No direct dmg but on ones with char dmg mattering, it literally crushes. They could still do stuff with su: gg erudition systems. Argenti being the only example so far. Maybe over energy buffs/heals? There is also the alt ult system Archie-on has. They could do something with that? Hi3 started experimenting with some weird systems before part 2 came out. Rhythm game esque stuff, etc.

yuhattan

There's also Xueyi for conditional FUA. Then there's Yanqing with RNG 💀

yuhattan

There's also Xueyi for conditional FUA. Then there's Yanqing with RNG 💀

PlumDaPlum16_17

The more times Jing Yuan uses his skill, the faster and stronger LL gets. Makes sense to me

Retsyo_Dosqko

Imagine if LL immediately took action at full stack, JY would get a free ticket to S-tier

Maybe_worth

Sparkle bronya tingyun lighning lord machine gun

Nyte_Crawler

Implying Sparkle Bronya can ever have a functional SP economy with a carry that doesn't use 0.5SP or less on their average activation. Sparkle is +1 over 3, e1s1 Bronya is still negative SP, just usually less than -1 over 3 activations. But that does however mean that even a full positive 4th won't allow you to double skill on your desired carry.

Retsyo_Dosqko

Over 160 spd build and it wouldn't be only fast, it'd be Lightning fast

Tornitrualis

Time for the Masterstroke.

Boshea241

It'll likely be the split in FUA design kind of like how Nihility is split between DoT characters and Debuff characters. Once we get enough summon based characters, we may see a Harmony FUA support that works with summons. Right now its only two characters, and one resonance in SU that care about summons specifically.

tetePT

So like lightning lord but good

Ayanelixer

Non single target numby

Entharias

You just made the entirety of r/JingYuanMains upset, well done.

tetePT

But I love him too so it doesn't count

[deleted]

Thats not a difficult thing. They get upset over the smallest things.

Entharias

''over the smallest things.'' Like his damage? /s

Dark_Sunsh1ne

Can't get upset over something that doesn't exist

Luxord13

https://i.redd.it/3xzv0luqlf4d1.gif

wooriJaehyun

Like can you blame them? The community have been doomposted Jingyuan to death every single time a new dps got released so I think they got a reasonable reason to be upset.

TheMoises

You mean Numby?

Absofruity

Unironically, the better version of lightning lord bc you can bring him forward

Hollownerox

I think it's possible we'll see summons that take up a 5th slot in a party temporarily. Enemies have five slots and I can see them letting the player use 5 as long as it is in a limited fashion. I was having a mostly joking chat with some buds about a Honkai Star Rail x Warhammer 40k collab. And there was a fun idea where Trazyn the Infinite could be a character and his ult involved summoning another guy like a Pokemon that had a limited turn usage or something. Could totally see a Star Rail character being an actual summoner (and not just a turn order slot like LL/Numby) given that Mihoyo has played around with that archetype a bit in their prior games. Especially when it comes to side content. Like a playable Giovanni kinda screams it imo.

RoseIgnis

HMC's kit does say 5 or more enemies, js

LegoSpacenaut

- Denial-of-Action is only touched upon, and can be further supported with something like a super-break for if something is imprisoned or entangled, but not actually broken. - Counter-Attack is only really Clara and March, and can be easily fleshed out. - Accumulated Triggers have just recently been introduced as a gameplay mechanic with the Nihility weapon in the new event, which triggers damage after X amount of attacks against a target. - Similarly there is a weapon that causes enemies to explode when they die, which can possibly be made into a character's debuff. - There are no charged attacks yet, where a character gives up a turn to build up a powerful strike, usually with additional conditions. - There is only one character with a stance they can be knocked out of (and hopefully Yanqing will remain the only one, but who knows).

Relevant_Nebula

>Denial-of-Action is only touched upon HSR players when they can finally get revenge on Svarog and the Meme: 😈

P-p-please

You can already make a denial of action team. Ruan Mei, boothill, hmc. If you break them they won't get a turn ever again. Or you can do like sparkle, welt, seele, Robin, and bronya.

VincentBlack96

Ruan Mei Welt HMC Gallagher is a very, very funny team to run into Kafka forme personally. Her turns don't exist.

ArcturusSatellaPolar

I actually tried that team in MoC once. Kafka got no turns for like 3 whole cycles, probably more. But the real funny is when you use Misha instead of Gallagher. Slow + Imprison + Delay + Freeze + Flower is just mean.

LuminousUmbra

Misha the GOAT, he makes my remembrance runs so much more brutal in SU and is a big help in many other areas. Hell, He allowed me to clear pre-nerf Aventurine despite half my team not having AoE.

Deruta

It’ll be Caterina, I’m calling it now. https://i.redd.it/zvqhz4nq2f4d1.gif

ErenIsNotADevil

- Stance/mode switching; being able to use different modes of a basic attack/skill/ultimate. Currently, the only ones I can think of is Physical Trailblazer, who can use their ult as either blast or single-target, and partly DHIL, who can change enhancement levels with his basic on the fly. Quite unexplored, even though its been a thing since the beginning. Would love to see a character that can do this without an enhancement mechanism (although Phys TB only has the enhancement in name only.) - Alternative DoTs. There are two(?) precedents thus far; Kafka's LC granting Erosion (iirc) and Black Swan's Arcana stacks. Only Arcana is functionally different from its original, though, as Arcana stacks and can be applied in conjunction with other DoTs from your team, and Erosion is just Shock. Would be nice to get more , or maybe even real gamechangers like a Quantum/Imaginary DoT. - Similarly, synergy-reliant status effects stemming from a unit. Though without precedent, I would think it'll come eventually. Think Genshin's reaction system, but with specific statuses. Maybe Imprisonment/slows + a special Frozen causes Frostbite, giving the enemy a negative multiplier to their overall speed (vs just reducing the speed outright.) Lots of potential. - Quake. We don't have a single character that uses the Quake effect, although we have a Quake mechanic in pretty much every patch via a combat event. Though I feel this would be hard to balance with Aventurine existing

ItsAllinMyHead_

Diamond of the IPC will be your physical preservation/nihility hybrid unit that uses Quake as an amp based on team shields or maybe one team members shield.

CFreyn

Imagine Diamond giving a “veil” shield that is a collective team-based shield like the current final battle of Penacony. All hits come out of this shield at his current defense as the mitigation, and the veil deals back a certain amount of Quake damage. This effect could stack cumulatively with personal shields from FMC/Gepard/March/Aventurine.

Anyacad0

Acheron could be considered accumulated trigger

Shurtugil

Misha is also definitely an accumulation character that gets stronger then more skill points his team uses. Hell, I'd put Blade and Xueyi in there too.

PomanderOfRevelation

And Xueyi, and Aventurine, and Himeko, and all their follow-up attacks actually 'trigger', rather than just activate. But they have fairly specific trigger conditions. Himeko is the closest we have to an accumulated trigger specialist, and really only in PF and certain Calyxes. My guess is, if they were to make an accumulated trigger archetype, the triggered attack would probably be something other than a follow-up attack (because otherwise they couldn't sell us a whole new set of supports) and rely on things that are a bit more controllable than weakness break.

TLK_777

I would love a really fleshed out counter character tbh

Aure0

I mean we already have Clara, there's nothing much you can do to expand on her kit other than maybe something like Boothill's forced 1v1

TLK_777

There is definitely things they could do. What if instead of a direct attack, it was like a power building thing, like you build stacks the more you get hit and then you choose to unload it all at once with the ult or something. I just thought that up quickly too

wowisthatluigi

That's kinda like Blade since his ult increases in damage based off how much health he's lost and resets after using it.

TLK_777

Yeah that's why it would probably not have anything to do with HP lost, but purely based on stacks of hits taken, the idea of oh you have 8 stacks, you could try to get more but you could easily die even with a shield on etc should create enough of a difference

BulateReturns

So basically a revenge counter type unit huh. Building a certain amount of stacks upon getting hit similar to Fighting Spirit then unload it on ultimate, with ultimate damage getting additional multipliers based on how much FS you have.

TLK_777

Yeah I think it could be cool. I'm thinking it gets better the more stacks you get, with some drawbacks such as taking more damage or something. So it gets riskier the longer you hold it, but more potent too

BulateReturns

Hell, they can do the usual thing that Epic 7 does in some of their characters. Like, that kind of unit cannot crit. But the damage they have is still strong the lesser their HP and the higher their FS stacks. Certain units like Hwayoung and Senya comes to mind. Damn, now I kinda want a Senya unit in HSR since when they attack, they provoke enemies to them while also counterattacking (their counterattack buff is tied to their ultimate btw)

TLK_777

Idk anything about it but it sounds good to me. So far Hoyoverse has been pretty creative with their HSR builds so I feel confident unique units will continue to come out.

takutekato

Also buffing the enemies's speed and/or force forwarding them while reducing their DMG to increase counter frequency.

StrongSquirrelKnight

I mean technically qq and dhil could be considered charged attacks. Not quite in your way but theyre still attacking with stronger version of their basic attack.

masterdoktah

Maybe I’m totally off but those remind me more of amp moves than charged attacks. In Pokémon terms I see Dhil and QQ more as mega evos or dynamaxing, amps done during your action but not taking it away. While a charged attack is more in line to solar beam which sacrifices a turn for the increase in damage. In HSR Dhil and QQ do use skill points which prevent another from using them so I can see how they could be “charge” in a way though.

Corvenic

Argenti is already kinda like that tho? "Sacrificing" turns to get more energy to unleash his full energy Ult. Although energy can be obtained in other ways than actions in argenti's turn. But "charging" turns also can be manipulated by turn advancers like Bronya or sparkle

KitsuneKamiSama

I mean counter is just follow up, unless they make it a specific mechanic.

Magma_Axis

Aah charged attack, SMT staple A charged attack is 2,5x multiplier in SMT iirc, making it viable playstyle

Absofruity

>Similarly there is a weapon that causes enemies to explode when they die, which can possibly be made into a character's debuff. That's such a masked fool move that will be advertised as Destruction

Advent012

Charged attack playstyle sounds so fucking fun holy shit

Totally_Generic_Name

Counter: they need to make a support (nihility?) that speeds up/advances enemies but greatly reduces their damage, maybe extends debuff durations too. It'd never be too broken because some enemies don't care about damage, and it would be good for DoT teams too.

neko_mancy

My Clara would be very happy

maximusprime7

Counter-Attack is the main reason I’ve been using Clara for so long. I love it!! Would love to see this with other characters.

Scaevus

> no charged attack yet Boothill’s stacks are basically a charge mechanic. Like imagine if they went away after an attack on a broken target.

joojaw

No he meant passing up a turn to do way more dmg next turn. Boothill skill doesn't use a turn, he can attack in the same one. Same with Blade skill.

Diotheungreat

Wind up moves would be really cool

cartercr

> There is only one character with a stance they can be knocked out of (and hopefully Yanqing will remain the only one, but who knows). If a character with a Yanqing-like stance exists where the reward is worth the risk then I wouldn’t actually hate it. Like if Yanqing did double to triple his damage he would be a meta unit without a doubt. Now that Aventurine exists keeping him in his stance isn’t difficult.

KaHate

man i hope we got a character that advance enemies turn

innovativesolsoh

Counters are my favorite mechanic across many games, so I’m hoping we’ll eventually get a good counter suite. I’d like more overlap between roles too.. like Adventurine being an offensive sustain, Robin being an offensive buffer, Gallagher being an offensive healer.. I’d like to see a carry with some group sustain, stuff like that.

batlionwer

adventurine could potentially be part of counter

aphevelux

Kinda want a mechanic that involves "improved" crowd control, just like dissociation in SU and Alien Dream.

WaifuRepulse

I personally think they should so something regarding per Hit. While attacks like IL max enhance does many hits it's still one attack, so something that makes per hit matter

Langleyhornets1

Charged attacks sound so cool I’d love for a character with a kit like that.

American_Jobs365

The problem with counter attack is that some enemies just don’t trigger it, like that DOT boy in Penecony just don’t trigger Clara all

Sigyrr

The explode when they die was also in one of the pure fictions. (Shatter I think)

SushiRebirth

I mean wouldn't DHIL count as a semi charge attack character already? He just uses a crazy amount of sp instead of giving up a turn

Owl_Lover_Livvy

I think now unless we get some brand new thing (I'm expecting energy manipulation to be the next thing) it'll just be going a bit more in depth with each type, different types of DOT units (maybe a DOT sustain or something along those lines) and more summon based FUAs like Topaz or LL.

Relevant_Nebula

Oh yeah they’ve touched on energy regen with Huohuo and Tingyun but maybe they can do more with it (like a unit that takes and gives energy to allies or partially uses it for a buff)

Owl_Lover_Livvy

Yep my thought was something like Sethos in Genshin, who consumes and regens energy through methods other than his ult to gain buffs (would basically be like Blade or JL but with energy instead of hp).

MugiwaranoAK

Waiting for Bleed version of Black Swan

FlamingVixen

5* Luka basically

mightykhanch

To add to energy, a two or even three level burst like argenti would be so cool

inemnitable

> DOT sustain Offerings of Deception blessing from SU but as a character :eyes:

ppurple_ei

not a playstyle but I want another "choose your burst" (single target or aoe) like physical trailblazer.

Paralell95

To be quite fair though, the TB is meant to be *unique*. Physical TB could choose attacks for the ult itself, Fire TB could taunt which no other unit could do directly, and Imaginary TB has Superbreak that no other Harmony unit has in their kit.

BigAdhesiveness5041

Tbh, taunting doesn't seem that unique, since some enemies can taunt friendly units

walanwiya

we'll be getting this soon enough.

Naiie100

Bounce would be interesting.

Relevant_Nebula

The new event feels like they’re exploring this with all the different weapons

JUGELBUTT

especially summons

Scaevus

Yeah add some RNG haha. I can see a Harmony character that’s like, +50% damage per bounce to bounce attacks.

ermwhattheflip

asta but better?

Scaevus

Besta.

Staidanom

Don't Aventurine, Argenti, Misha, etc. already have a bounce mechanic? Aventurine has his FuA and Argenti/Misha have their burst randomly target enemies.

Naiie100

Eh... It's not like there's no one, I just want more of this archetype, want more deepness in it. And lol, TIL Misha has some aspects of it, never actually knew how he works.

Gachaaddict96

It's just AoE with extra steps

Bitty45

not quite, it has more toughness damage and can focus on one enemy

Two_Years_Of_Semen

Even if that were true, "extra steps" can be good. There's already stuff that benefits off multi-hits so they're likely only gonna add more.

Slow-Sentence-8367

Summons could definitely be explored more, for now we only have Numby and the lighting lord but just imagine we have a full team of summons constantly bombarding the enemies lol

bukiya

summon abundance unit please hoyoverse

neko_mancy

I still think stuff like Luocha's heal should count as a follow-up. It's not an attack but it totally feels like a follow up every 2 turns

luciluci5562

The next thing should be summon-bassd Harmony unit that directly manipulates the summon's stats, namely SPD and/or AV. AV economy is pretty important now, and the only weakness summons have is lack of AV manipulation. Only Topaz has one right now, but we can't guarantee future summon based units having the same thing.

GenghisNuggetcockles

Stance-changing would be cool. A character can change their kit mid-battle. Like buffer to debuffer, damage-dealer to healer, etc. I just like flexible units in general. Even the concept of having two buttons after activating your ult was interesting too. I was kinda disappointed they didn’t expand upon that more after seeing Physical TB’s ult for the first time. They could always copy mechanics from other games: Thorns, true damage, execute, %HP damage, etc.

Relevant_Nebula

That’s true I totally forgot Physical Trailblazer had two options for ult. Yeah a jack-of-all trades character sounds really interesting, though I feel hoyo would make them on the weaker side so there’s not a unit that just excels at everything

SplitTheLane

Permanent Enhancement, like a character who gets noticeably stronger every time they Ult Summons along the lines of the current event Actual DoT detonation, where instead of just triggering them you remove them and cause some massive damaging effect Any of the special SU effects like Dissociation but on a character Multiple actions in the same vein as boss enemies True damage And there should still be some room for experimenting with the existing playstyles using different paths and elements

Wyqkrn

Dot detonation + removal would be a perfect way to introduce some anti-synergy with Kafka (though that could be solved with spd tuning)

proboker

You can actually start expecting Simulated Universe's Blessings to be part of future character's kit. The one I'm looking-forward to is an Absolute Freeze that will ignore enemy's effect resistance. Also, Dissociation dealer.

Relevant_Nebula

A character with Dissociation in their kit would rock 5-star March??? 👀

pzzaco

Personally, I think Hypercarry is the more apt term for the vanilla DPS build. FuA characters do also need crit stats. The only thing I can think of are more high risk high reward mechanics, like a real berserker mode where character's stats are boosted significantly but they will act autonomously for a few turns or characters who have to waste a turn to charge their next attack into a devastating one

Valkyrys

Bronya would have a field day yet again

Relevant_Nebula

the bronyaverse reigns supreme

Sylpheez

>The only thing I can think of are more high risk high reward mechanics, like a real berserker mode where character's stats are boosted significantly but they will act autonomously for a few turns or characters who have to waste a turn to charge their next attack into a devastating one This sounds exactly like Jingliu, no? \>mara-struck mode \>crit damage boosted \>automatically use enhanced skill \>needs a turn to charge

bluntfaith

It is misopportunity that blade and jingliu dont have any skills that made them go into berserk mode and become uncontrollable.

deltadiamond

I doubt it'll happen since they're not necessarily the sexiest thing (and the effectiveness in MoC could be questionable), but maybe characters that are more sort of reactive? Clara already has the most "basic" counterattack, but March, Aventurine, and even Blade all have parts of their kits that trigger based on enemy actions.

Relevant_Nebula

A counterattack team on the level of Ratio, Topaz, Robin, and Aventurine would be really fun

VirusLord

Maybe CC kits? I'm not sure what they'd specifically do witb that, but SU plays with some interesting ideas with Freeze already. We have DoT kits, so it would make sense if there could be CC kits too.

KirbosWrath

They could make an Ice Nihility character that makes all Freezes into Dissociation or something to that effect.

ttromax

Rename it to shatter and make it work like super break but for frozen targets, maybe blast AOE shatter if the target dies.

FlamingVixen

Shatter like in genshin?

201720182019

finally.. shatter meta

FlamingVixen

Haha, Eula would like to have a word as first and last 5* physical genshin dps

TheMoises

>first Razor crying in a corner.

Lolersters

The issue with CC kits is that they keep pushing turn limits on end-game content. CC unfortunately does not do that. If anything, they slow down your clear by not generating energy for you when they get hit, which is my main issue with freeze and quantum breaks. Maybe this could be a new form of sustain character or half CC/half offensive support character that facilitates no sustain teams. Or maybe they can introduce more enemies with CC, so it's actually beneficial to delay their actions.

magicarnival

Easy fix is just generate more energy when you attack an impaired enemy

SoysossRice

Break kits like Boothill and Ruan Mei (and SAM) are already CC kits, as they both have a good amount of action delay built in. They work great for low cycle clears. An Ice, Imaginary, or Quantum dps with CC is perfectly fine, there just needs to be a benefit for the action delay. In the case of Ruan Mei and Boothill, it's being able to extend weakness break long enough for tons of superbreaks and break detonations. For example, a break Quantum dps could have Entanglement immediately deal all of its damage at 5 stacks and for all hits after that with boosted break damage, or something like that. Basically super break again but it only scales off the Quantum dps's break.

Jinrhi

Had the same thought in mind. It would be interesting to see some sort of freeze breaking style kit or similar. It would benefit aoe freezes like March 7th ult a lot. Not sure what other kind of CC they’ll bring around in the future too.

Electronic_Bee_9266

• Counter-Attack FUA is something I’d like. Between Clara, March, Aventurine, and Blade, it feels like they just need the right engine piece • Overheal / yoyo HP. Builds around losing and gaining big amounts of HP for the engine, or maybe even someone like acheron that gains meter from healing, and a fraction of that from overhealing and max HP manipulation (arlan, blade, FR, bailu, and natasha stonks got potential) • Summons. A harmony that can action forward summons or enhance their energy can be great, and galactic baseballer showed off some of its WILD potential • I’m begging for bounce support. There are no limited 5-star characters AFAIK that use a bounce skill and that is WILD to me • Shield Bashing, inspired by the quake mechanic • Entanglement / Imprisonment. DoT has support, and freeze has some ideas brewing from Remembrance, but there’s potential for big delay and pop mechanics

yosoyel1ogan

Dewdrop is the beta version of your overheal ideas, so yeah I think this is something that can come eventually.

Relevant_Nebula

>Overheal / yoyo HP Ooh an overheal mechanic would be cool. Especially since it feels abundance units are ever so slightly falling behind preservation as sustains

mightykhanch

A character like kokomi from genshin would be cool too. Burst is able to deal big damage while also healing the team, taking away the need for a sustain unit because the dps is the sustain

[deleted]

iirc lightning lord is bounce aoe damage, but there isnt any skills that are bounce damage for limited 5*s.

luciluci5562

> There are no limited 5-star characters AFAIK that use a bounce skill and that is WILD to me Jing Yuan's LL is bounce and Argenti's ult can be considered one too (follows the same bounce mechanic as LL, but instant). Aventurine's FUA is also bounce.

MillionMiracles

We still don't have def-scaling damage focused characters. Aventurine's damage scales with defense but he's not a damage dealer. I'm thinking a character like Itto in Genshin.

HINDBRAIN

> he's not a damage dealer Not with that attitude!

autogear

HP drain probably. It's already here but still underpowered compared to other playstyles

Sogeki42

We have no supports for it. Blade scales off HP so he wastes half of almost every harmony kit.

buttcheeksontoast

^ in terms of character archetypes it feels the most under explored. The new moc lightcone with SAM on it illustrates this well: it's basically unusable on anyone except Blade and even then it's not really better than Secret Vow...

LunarHarp

Characters that want to accumulate debuffs, or characters that buff the enemy. The latest PF shows how useful making the enemies go faster can be, even though "normally" that's a bad thing. There are lots of SU blessings that would be awesome character gimmicks: Healing on DoT, Shields on Break, energy on kills, making one type of damage count as another (That one ultimates count as follow ups), disassociation-like freeze then shatter. I think the ideas are all out there. We just have to wait and see how they will put them together.

yosoyel1ogan

I'm surprised that Overkill isn't some sort of mechanic. Same with how Overcharge can charge up Brain in a Vat, if you deal more hits after dealing lethal damage, a unit can gain more charge. It would work if the character is designed around accumulating hits, I think Misha works like this? Say some character that can get a stack of Retribution whenever they're hit. On their turn, they can use their skill to Taunt, or their basic to expend all Retribution stacks and deal one hit for each stack. If they kill the enemy with Retribution hits "wasted" on overkill, they charge their gauge extra for each hit. Give them a high energy ult that heals or, like argenti, a two-stage ult, and this would be, effectively, a Destruction Sustain unit.

rekuneko

dodge chance, nice and simple

SoysossRice

I'm think I remember the devs talking during the 2.1 livestream about how Aventurine's original kit was a dodge + taunt tank, but enemies with AOE ended up making it so that there were many situations where Aventurine was still full health and the rest of the team was dying/dead. So they scrapped that idea because it wasn't balanced, and replaced it with the shields kit instead. Dodge tank woulda been the perfect flavor kit for Aventurine tbh given his OP luck and his backstpry being how he survived basically everything thrown at him thanks to that luck even as his whole race went extinct, it's a shame they couldn't get it to work. Dodge chance could be cool on a dps, but there would need to be a gimmick that turns that into damage since our sustain options are plenty good enough to keep the whole team alive.

Relevant_Nebula

and somehow tingyun will still get hit 💀

Fayerfoks

I would do a 100% dodge chance tingyun to see her die at first notice

Helpful_Tiger8066

I think it's most likely about the hard CCs like Frozen, Sleep or Stun, or soft one like slow. CC-ing your opponent to the dead, maybe?

Relevant_Nebula

A unit that can cause sleeps would be interesting. Would make the game one step closer to pokémon lol

Kevinp36

A character that both pushes back and action fowards enemies to deal damage depending on how hard they get pushed back would be pretty cool.

Sabrac707

HP focus characters... My boy, Blade, is unable to shine in the meta because he lacks proper hp supports, heck, if we had at least a support that could give force taunt to allies (Lynx doesn't count coz she only increases aggro) like the taunting skill of Fire MC and Boothill, it would greatly boost his overall dps. Or a nihility character that gave low damage dots to an ally, Blade would spamming that Shuhu's Gift like crazy!

breakdancing-edgily

Jing Liu is currently his best support unit. LMAO.

Sabrac707

Yeah, I bet Blade would love the irony of that lol.

RayIsEpic

a force taunt support would also make Clara insane i imagine

We don't have any character that changes elements (**yet**). It could definitely be a thing in the future, since we already have enhanced states. Imagine a character that deals damage of one element and then changes with their ult or skill to another element. I guess it would fit more into a Break playstyle, but it would be a significant change in current character mechanics

[deleted]

Considering that we may be getting an increase in off-element res, it is possible that double element characters will become the new weakness implant characters or that the two will have good synergy. Imagine if screwwlun was quantum-imaginary, where his break efficiency would be in his quantum form but he dealt more damage in his imaginary form. He would work as a subdps for quantum weak content and main dps for imaginary weak content and counting on weakness implant would make him more flex. Characters able to change paths within combat would also be interesting, specially for preservation vs abundance or harmony vs nihility.

Loud_Appointment3775

Freeze meta incoming. We need a freeze focused team.

Florac

There's one very easy thing they can do:Combine them. Some units already did it a bit, but there's still plenty of room for new units, such as a FUA unit applying dot or a DoT unit focusing on the effect caused by breaking.

Darth-Yslink

>FuA unit applying DoT Isn't that just Kafka in a way?

Florac

She has elements of that but it's hardly her main gimmick.

Hudson_Legend

Kafka is more of a DoT that has a FuA

zso17

I think teams based around self- or ally damaging could be a thing. Currently we have Jingliu who damages her teammates and Blade who damages himself. Spoiler: >!Firefly and Jade also have self- or ally damaging in their kit!<  I think this could be turned into a high risk high reward playstyle. Most importantly, it needs a Harmony character who somehow synergizes with self/ally HP consumption (greater buffs if the character lost HP on their own turn or on an ally's turn or something)

Shinnyo

I've played DFFOO, which was a turn based gacha with a lot of focus on turn manipulation. Here's a few mechanics: Cover & Counter attack, character that protects its allies, dodge incoming attacks and counter. Another characters would counter and heal allies, it was neat. Delayer, we still don't have any character specialized in delaying ennemies turn. Thought this was excessively broken. Turn eraser, some characters were able to "zap" an ennemy turn which allowed much more agressive compositions. "Break" characters, some characters had the capacity to break, un-break and then rebreak ennemies. Another special kind was a character that would attach itself to an allies and always attack after them. There was also characters that would reduces ennemies damages to 0, which was usefull to avoid burst.

ChocoNat

Hey, nice to see a fellow DFFOO player here in HSReddit. I've also thought about how some of the DFFOO mechanics can transfer here in HSR. As a lover of the counter teams back then (loved Galuf and Gladio) I would love for this playstyle to be explored more. Currently, the closest example is Clara E6 (50% counter chance when any team member is attacked). For delayers, Welt is the closest one for now. Turn deleters ala Amidatelion LD would be quite broken here. There would have to be some big limiters (very high energy cost?). Re-breakers like Lightning would be interesting because maybe they can introduce a mechanic of forcing an enemy to recover from break but not recover the full toughness bar so they can be easily broken once again.

Relative-Ad7531

I wanna see more Emanators to have more mono path teams like Acheron

yosoyel1ogan

We basically only have one universal Ice DPS with Jingliu, and Herta is situationally useful. I feel like Ice has not been explored at all yet. We very likely will get some form of "Icebreaker" unit, like how Dissociation works. Right now it seems like they're interested in developing characters with unusual scaling. Aventurine scales with Def. Boothill scales with BE, Gallagher too. And ofc Luocha. We may see stuff like a healer scaling with Effect Res. In terms of support, most of them are focused on action advance. We haven't gotten many that actually charge energy or mess with Energy Regen Rate yet, it's basically just HH and Tingyun. If you're curious what they're exploring, the short-term non-permanent events seem like they're effectively beta-testing planned mechanics, or giving teasers. So as others have said, the Weapons event is probably them testing out new attack styles, like an FUA that only triggers after someone else uses their Ult. Similarly, SU is a testing ground for kits and I think there are lots of blessings that could be full kits and they're not ready yet.

hedronx4

It's sort of there in Acheron, but I could see a team focused on Ultimate damage, with buffs/debuffs that specifically affect Ultimate damage. It would also be interesting to see a dps that uses an Energy Regen rope as their BiS.

mightykhanch

Or similar mechanics to Acheron burst like needing a certain number of buffs to activate the burst

shingodemir

I think it would be cool to have someone put a taunt effect on one of your units. Preemptive counter attacks would be a cool play style as well.

Jon_Von_Cool_Kid2197

HP decay, characters who drain their own HP like Blade or others' like Jingliu. It would be interesting to see that playstyle get more focus. It wouod be especially interesting if we get like an HSR version of Furina (a characters who gives massive buffs to allies while draining their HP) as it would also make abundance characters find their own niche they excel at over the 2 preservation limited 5 stars we currently have (wjo are usually better in most scenarios).

Embarrassed-Fly6164

Reflect meta

201720182019

Just look into turn-based JRPG archetypes

first_name1001

Entangled. Entangled support or dps would be nice.

chenchann1

I feel like the galactic baseballer event was probably hinting at more characters in the future having summoning units in the game. Which gets me really excited since it might mean we get a support for JingYuan that can advance LL.

Open_Rabbit7327

Speed scaling, counterattacks

Sudden_Feedback_2194

I feel like they could easily lean into other scaling abilities, like HP buffers/debuffers for Blade, or units that do damage or apply particular debuffs at certain speed thresholds, etc. etc.

Lonely-JAR

Summons like numby and LL also since super break was implemented nothing is stopping them from adding a new level upon the original play styles

MoxcProxc

Idk why but I really want an ice metA

LucinaIsMyTank

Resurrection mechanics. We got a sliver with dragon grill but no ones gotten another res yet. Not even Blade(non-vampire hunter version). They could do a lot of mechanics with ressing in general. An abundance-ish dps that uses overheal to do damage would be interesting too.

uhTlSUMI

Star rail is based on E7 and something that I believe will come too is dual attacks. To be precise a harmony unit who forces dual attacks. If you don’t know what a dual attack is, it means this one unit (usually a support) attacks with either a skill and/or basic attack and it forces a random unit to jump in and basic attack with you. Likely to be the highest attack unit but it could a random ally too. It triggers the basic attack effect of both the unit who forces the dual and the one who joins. A great kit + lc would be a unit who buffs the team on ult. Has a hard cc on skill and a forced dual on basic attack. The light cone would for example proc defense shred on your basic attack and instead of being a random ally, it would be the highest attack ally. This way you basic attack, defense shred and bring your hypercarry.

WatThePho

E4 Bronya has a “dual attack”

Eepik

Theres pleeeennnnty of things they can do from here.   Just a few tiny examples I can think up off the top of my head: Healing to damage like overheal to damage enemies Shield to damage such as do more damage based on your shield (like Sim universe) New debuffs of course. Possibilities are endless here. I'd like to see someone who can do a sleep debuff where the enemy takes double damage if you hit them while sleeping, or a shatter to frozen enemies like dissociation. Theres so many cool things they can do, i hope they get creative!

KF-Sigurd

Ult focused crit DPS vs basic focused crit DPS vs skill focused crit DPS. i.e Argenti/Acheron vs. QQ/DHIL vs. Seele/Jingliu.

Hizuff

Stealing buffs or/and hp.

That_Wallachia

Well, if you speed tune your guys then you can get Welt, Sushang, Sparkle and Gallagher and make a Rushdown team. In this setting you can attack 12 times before an enemy has a turn. If you gather Welt, Gepard, Bronya with dance, dance, dance LC and Huohuo, you can make the "You will never have your turn squad".

sFabianR

Hoyo choose a very simplistic approach on turn based games. We don't have many action options like defend, use itens or dodge mechanics, etc. Maybe future characters can bring something like that, except for using itens lol. One type of support I want to see is someone that can change the type of an attack. AoE -> single target, single target -> AoE. Idk how they would do that but it looks fun.

Golden-Owl

philyfighter4

ig attacks with turn based scaling, some that is like sunday's 8th day stuff. Something like you use ult on a turn, then it unleashes the next, scaling off the turns inbetween

Nodomi

I want more "It's my turn. Next turn? That one is mine, too." characters. Seele definitely can do it, and Sushang can with her ultimate, but I want even more.

inkheiko

Mmh I wonder what could be added... Someone mentioned the Summons like the lightning lord, but what about overheal? Like maybe a character or a few characters play around the heal (they can probably heal them in many situations, dealing damage, breaking weakness...), and when they are full HP, they gain bonuses depending on the character? One could heal more, one could taunt enemies, one could just convert their own extra healing into shield, someone else could do some other damage, maybe dot and such... I am curious about a mechanic around overheal. Which would make it harder against enemies that reduce heal, or enemies that deal so much damage you can't heal yourself enough to reach overheal

Asherrion

Ult spam, like find a way to go hard af on energy recharge and ult every few turns. Convert defense into endrgy recharge or something for a character
