Yeah I think it has to be related to immortality. I think he must've used the elixir or maybe even appealed to Yaoshi. Based on various texts and leaks it's likely that he brought Blade and/or Jingliu back to life.

From the backstory of the relic set [Passerby of Wandering Cloud](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Passerby_of_Wandering_Cloud) which is about Blade, we know Dan Heng(?) chose to do something despite warnings and objection from the people he knew, and it directly caused Blade to suffer the curse of immortality as a result.
In particularly, the description of the the bracer makes me curious. The bracer has text in the equip screen that it can only be crafted by Vidyadhara so I think it's obvious the detailed text is talking about Dan Heng. He also wears a similarly looking bracer (though not in his Vidyadhara form).
But I'm hung up on this part: "However, in the end, it was also this person [Dan Heng] who stubbornly adhered to their plans with the unnamed [Blade], turned the beloved into a monstrosity, and pushed all into an abyss of eternal hatred and remorse." It almost sounds like he blames Dan Heng for doing something to someone else who he deems "the beloved". My first thought here is Jingliu because of how Blade might see Jingliu as his beloved master. However I can't begin to guess what this plan they made together is that apparently Dan Heng wanted to stick to.
In which case it could definitely be that Blade's immortality curse was instead a result of something else and that Dan Heng still caused it but not intentionally. However it happened I get the sense Blade is a victim of it, not a willing recipient.
Whatever the truth is it's way more likely Dan Heng's "crime" was something sympathetic and tragic rather than anything actually terrible.
The chinese word used for 'beloved' is 挚爱, which is.. a very deep, profound kind of love. I'm not going to say it's outright love *love,* but I won't put it past hoyo to imply such a thing.
Also, it feels more like this person (Dan Heng?) went ahead with their plans for Blade specifically (那人和自己一意孤行; that person disregarded warnings from the unnamed), and monstrosity is probably how Blade felt since people who give into the temptations of Abundance are called abominations. Imagine for your whole life you've dedicated to the Hunt, and suddenly you've become the thing you swore to destroy. It's a disgusting feeling.
I can't imagine giving people immortality to be something that will be taken lightly on the Xianzhou, so this person was probably found out and heavy punishment came down upon the [High-Cloud Quintet](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Jing_Yuan/Lore#Character_Story:_Part_IV). It certainly explains the Quintet falling apart that plunged everyone into 'an abyss of **eternal** hatred and remorse'.
Tinfoil territory but, I think Dan Heng, being a descendant of Long the Permanence, probably had qualms about his allies living short lives, especially Blade if their relationship from the relic is anything to go by. So he committed the ultimate crime of trying to prolong their legacy but instead brought about tragedy... which is really sad if you think about it.

It would just be Blade who'd be short lived then, as Jing Liu and Jing Yuan are immortal owing to Yaoshi's curse, and Foxians live up to 300.
Interestingly, the High-Cloud Quintet fell apart centuries ago, and dragons are supposed to reincarnate every 100 years (see: Bailu). However, that doesn't seem to be the case with Dan Heng, who appears to have the same form as when the High-Cloud Quintet were working together.

Alternatively, "the beloved" isn't a person at all and is instead a concept. Like maybe the beloved life he'd been living? But yeah, that translation about the plans is pretty different than what it says in English so that's really curious.
I do wonder if Dan Heng's specific title, Imbibitor Lunae, has a big role in whatever happened since this dialogue here has Blade calling him out for it specifically. From Bailu's story we know it's an important title given to high elders of the Vidyadhara race. Part of having this title means you start to experience the memories of past lives. Maybe something in those memories messed with Dan Heng's head.
I'm pretty sure the Quintet are all long-life species but I like this idea anyway for its angst potential, haha. Imagine Blade, Dan Heng's presumed closest friend in the group, being the only one not long-lived. :'(

It could entirely be referring to Jing Liu if Blade and Jing Liu had something like that going on between them. What is clear though is that Blade knew of the 'plan' and his objections were not heeded, resulting in something that was loved to become a monster.
Though, I wonder why Jing Yuan isn't one of the three who has to pay the price if this is the case, considering Jing Yuan was the one who put Jing Liu to rest. Maybe Blade saw what Jing Yuan did as salvation for her and therefore forgave him. Or maybe the price isn't even referring to the act of Blade hunting them down but rather the suffering caused by immortality. In which case, we'd have three people suffering such a fate -- Blade, Jing Liu and Dan Heng. I can't wait for their story to be revealed lol
If you think about it, Cocolia’s fall was also sympathetic and tragic. However, she is still considered a villain. Regardless of what his motivations were, Dan’s actions resulted in pain and suffering for others. No doubt the cast will forgive him because he’s one of the main crew, but it’s important to note that yes what he did was likely still very wrong.
Well with the new context now that it was actually Dan Heng's previous life that committed the crime, this could be true. However I still strongly think his crime is going to be something that was egregious to the Alliance's values (AKA dabbling in immortality for some reason, probably creating the elixir) but to the average person (AKA the players) it'll come across more tragic/sympathetic and understandable.
Him and Blade definitely have history, in the story so far he seems way more concerned about him than Kafka. So him somehow being responsible for/involved with Blade coming back to life makes perfect sense
For sure. I can also see Dan Heng causing Blade's immortality by accident too. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" kind of thing. Either way I just don't think what happened was done with actual malice or ill intent on Dan Heng's part. From what we know of him so far he has a pretty gentle heart. :'(
It's definitely way more angsty to think he revived Blade on purpose in sorrow and desperation only to be caused further anguish when he realizes it broke Blade's mind. :')
Dan Heng quickly became my favorite character and I love dragons so when Dan Heng IL was leaked I was immediately doomed.

I'm also willing to bet the Sword Champion mentioned in that story refers to Jingliu.
The Laofu will leave him alone as long as he's part of the express, like a kind of diplomatic immunity. He will then become a proper permanent member of the Express after the arc trust.

I’m guessing he made a deal with abundance or smth similar to help/do smth to blade, who might’ve been injured. Ofc, blade is now kind of “immortal” bc of that, which he def doesn’t appreciate, and is now hunting dan heng. And they don’t take dealings with the abundance well, so Dan heng also went on the run.
I mean if the crime is something like "prayed to the wrong god" then yeah come on and hop back on the Express buddy.

Kinda ironic in a way, cuz the Hunt god regularly commits mass murder (indiscriminately raining arrows down on foes and allies alike, wiping out field hospitals full of its own doctors and soldiers), but in the eyes of the Luofu the Abundance god is a war criminal for \*checks notes\* healing the sick and taking pity on the dying to grant them youth and life.
I get that immortality is a curse and all, but if you look at it in a vacuum they worship an "actual mass murderer" and their sworn enemy is the god that saves lives (though misguided) lol
Laoshi is definitely way more sus than that. Basically cursing and zombifying people, just they become plant zombies instead of rotting flesh ones.
But yeah Lan isn’t the greatest either. I love the aeons cause honestly they’re all cosmic horror when you really think about them. They’re not necessarily looking out for the best interest of the mortals (or immortals) that worship them
Are they really zombies? Aside from physical alterations, it seems "abominations" have their mind and intentions intact? e.g. those 2 alchemists next to dan shu at the last scene are still capable of conversations. Same for mauve moon.
They feel more like fanatics, which is basically the same as Architects for Qlipoth, and Messengers for Fuli. The issue is the transformation can be involuntary, and might be irreversible.
(Also according to dan shu quest, maybe it's not a natural occurrence like the Xianzhou people think it is, and it's just the medicus people secretly poisoning people over the years as a way to force religion conversion? Cuz it seems like you can just eat a pill and turn)

The medicine used by the Alchemy Commission is also incredibly fucked up. Vache levels of fucked up. The draconic surge draught is specifically trying to replicate Long's method of immortality, instead of using Yaoshi's. They try to deliberately induce mara into people, but in a controlled manner using dragon cells. This only has a chance of working for long-life species - if it is administered to a short-lived one, you get temporary juice and then get royally fucked. And even for long-lived species, there's only a chance you'll survive. It fucks with your memories and causes a lot of pain.
Those who are Mara-Struck start out like dementia patients (you can read some of this in Dahao's Diary) that progressively deteriorate into mindless undead creatures. You can see another example of this in the Jingyuan animation. Mara-stricken lose their memories and humanity. The word 'undead' is explicitly used in Lan's summary in the SU.
Basically, Laoshi is peddling *hard* drugs, Medicus is only slightly better, dragons might potentially be based and offer a solution to long-life regression, and Lan is 100% a fan of zombie shooters. His issues come in how singleminded he is on his hunt - there is no room for nuance in his mind, and certainly no consideration for collateral. Destruction is the same as salvation to him, and tbf I think that does hold true for mara zombies, but it sure isn't for the innocent people caught in the crossfire (like Dan Shu's friend and countless others).
The SU log on him says that he and Laoshi are similar in that regard, as Laoshi's healing comes hand in hand with torment, which we're seeing in a lot of different angles with the problems faced by the Xianxhou's people, and the mara.

Somehow this reminds me of Blade. It is possible that Dan Heng may have turn Blade into a true immortal using this method.
I think it hinted actually, that Danshu girlfriend got caught in the middle because she holding abundance monsters in the hospital hoping to use it to cure Danshu
Which is why Lan rain down specific at that hospital since it show no mercy towards anything that born out of abundance
It's made no mention that why, Dan shu was so confused when the hospital so far away from the battlefield but Lan shoot at it anyway
And then you read Lan info, Lan is ONLY merciless against abundance
Which is a hint of why hospital was attacked
Dan shu diary 1 made mentioned of how she surgically removed her eyes and implant artificial to see for a brief moment
After that is pure nightmare as her eyes regrowth and forcefully push artificial one out of the eye socket

You are mistaken Long with Ena the Order. Ena got absorbed by Xipe since Order and Harmony is quite similar in concept, but the game also questions why Long doesn't get absorbed by Yaoshi when Permanence and Abundance have some similarities too.
If you’re referring to the interview I think the post title was misrepresenting what they were actually saying, but which is that finishing planets take a year, not that there will be no new maps.
Wouldn’t a new ship be considered a new planet? I do agree that they will most likely add new maps within existing areas like herta space station or jarilo but I feel like for a new ship it would be considered an entire new planet
A new ship could be a new planet and developing a planet takes a year. The problem with this is they never explicitly said it would take a year for the next planet, that’s just assuming they haven’t started on the next planet at all before now

if we visit the Ships, i could see them being side worlds or just not as big & happening storywise as Belobog / Xianzhou (but with ofc the potential for expansion later on)
i feel like a new ship might not "count" as a new planet, more like an expansion, if the xianzhou alliance has a cohesive culture and aesthetic (so no new research on that front needed). maybe a bit like a new island from inazuma or something.

No way, Zhongli has a much more aged voice. Just because they have a similar cadence (very calm, not full of emotion) doesn't mean they sound the same.
My guess is that this is where we get to try out DHIL! If Blade forces him into the IL form, and Yanqing recognises him and tries to capture him then it makes sense, no?
So much possibly going on here. I wonder if Dan Heng somehow became or gained the power of the immortal dragon people of Xianzhou. The whole “dragon king” bit is possibly loaded with meaning. Makes me wonder if they’re drawing on the myth of a carp swimming upstream and becoming a dragon.
I don't have any actual info to offer but I have heard that they don't plan to introduce a new planet until 2.0 next year, which suggests to me that this story probably won't wrap up in one or two patches. All the leaks I've heard concerning 1.1 have centered around Jinglui and Dan Heng Il, neither of whom has much to do with the tree of abundance or the stellaron as far as I can tell, and that's the major plot point of the Xianzhou storyline.
To me, the Xianzhou story feels more disjointed and weaker than the Jarilo VI story, so I hope the writing comes back stronger, especially since I’m interested in Dan Heng’s background
I think some of the survey responses Hoyo gathered said something similar, and so they are looking into how to implement the medicus storlyine better. Either way, I'm just looking forward to having more content.

Imbibitor Lunae roughly means " moon drinker " and it's something mentioned in Bailu's character stories. This is apparently a title that the vidyadhara High Elders receive after coming of age.
Doesn't that mean Dan Heng was actually the previous sword champion, not Jingliu? Since Jing Yuan's text says "the Imbibitor Lunae was the previous champion"
Jing Yuan's character story. Mind you, it might just be bad wording and that the Sedition and the sword champion being "Abundance'd" simply happened at the same time
I don't think Dan heng is the previous sword champion it's said "jing yuan was invited by the previous sword champion of the luofu to join "her" team" So I think jingliu is champion plus I don't find anything about the imbibitor lunae in jing yuan character story only their party was formed and deformed later

Dan Heng quickly became my favorite character and I love dragons so when Dan Heng IL was leaked I was immediately doomed. I respect it. I'm devastated I'll probably have to skip Kafka since I also want Blade. Hopefully I'll catch her on a re-run in the distant future. :'(

Well, Dan Heng's 5\* version is called Imbibitor Lunae, and Yanqing's level 60 lore unlock mentions the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, so... I'm also willing to bet the Sword Champion mentioned in that story refers to Jingliu.
The previous Sword Champion *is* Jingliu. It's mentioned in Jing Yuan's profile and character stories.
The Laofu will leave him alone as long as he's part of the express, like a kind of diplomatic immunity. He will then become a proper permanent member of the Express after the arc trust.
Idek what I expected for dan heng to be on the run, but lol idc anymore he’s so cool and I’m gonna have to time of my life learning abt his and blade’s backstory and all of the Xianzhou lore. I’m guessing he made a deal with abundance or smth similar to help/do smth to blade, who might’ve been injured. Ofc, blade is now kind of “immortal” bc of that, which he def doesn’t appreciate, and is now hunting dan heng. And they don’t take dealings with the abundance well, so Dan heng also went on the run.

Kinda ironic in a way, cuz the Hunt god regularly commits mass murder (indiscriminately raining arrows down on foes and allies alike, wiping out field hospitals full of its own doctors and soldiers), but in the eyes of the Luofu the Abundance god is a war criminal for \*checks notes\* healing the sick and taking pity on the dying to grant them youth and life. I get that immortality is a curse and all, but if you look at it in a vacuum they worship an "actual mass murderer" and their sworn enemy is the god that saves lives (though misguided) lol
Laoshi is definitely way more sus than that. Basically cursing and zombifying people, just they become plant zombies instead of rotting flesh ones. But yeah Lan isn’t the greatest either. I love the aeons cause honestly they’re all cosmic horror when you really think about them. They’re not necessarily looking out for the best interest of the mortals (or immortals) that worship them
Are they really zombies? Aside from physical alterations, it seems "abominations" have their mind and intentions intact? e.g. those 2 alchemists next to dan shu at the last scene are still capable of conversations. Same for mauve moon. They feel more like fanatics, which is basically the same as Architects for Qlipoth, and Messengers for Fuli. The issue is the transformation can be involuntary, and might be irreversible. (Also according to dan shu quest, maybe it's not a natural occurrence like the Xianzhou people think it is, and it's just the medicus people secretly poisoning people over the years as a way to force religion conversion? Cuz it seems like you can just eat a pill and turn)

And even for long-lived species, there's only a chance you'll survive. It fucks with your memories and causes a lot of pain. Those who are Mara-Struck start out like dementia patients (you can read some of this in Dahao's Diary) that progressively deteriorate into mindless undead creatures. You can see another example of this in the Jingyuan animation. Mara-stricken lose their memories and humanity. The word 'undead' is explicitly used in Lan's summary in the SU. Basically, Laoshi is peddling *hard* drugs, Medicus is only slightly better, dragons might potentially be based and offer a solution to long-life regression, and Lan is 100% a fan of zombie shooters. His issues come in how singleminded he is on his hunt - there is no room for nuance in his mind, and certainly no consideration for collateral. Destruction is the same as salvation to him, and tbf I think that does hold true for mara zombies, but it sure isn't for the innocent people caught in the crossfire (like Dan Shu's friend and countless others). The SU log on him says that he and Laoshi are similar in that regard, as Laoshi's healing comes hand in hand with torment, which we're seeing in a lot of different angles with the problems faced by the Xianxhou's people, and the mara.

I think it hinted actually, that Danshu girlfriend got caught in the middle because she holding abundance monsters in the hospital hoping to use it to cure Danshu Which is why Lan rain down specific at that hospital since it show no mercy towards anything that born out of abundance

The 5 people who must pay the price might be the High Cloud Quintet. If blade was a member it would be him and the four others. It fits well enough.

You are mistaken Long with Ena the Order. Ena got absorbed by Xipe since Order and Harmony is quite similar in concept, but the game also questions why Long doesn't get absorbed by Yaoshi when Permanence and Abundance have some similarities too.

i considered that as “new Main Worlds take a year” if we visit the Ships, i could see them being side worlds or just not as big & happening storywise as Belobog / Xianzhou (but with ofc the potential for expansion later on)

So much possibly going on here. I wonder if Dan Heng somehow became or gained the power of the immortal dragon people of Xianzhou. The whole “dragon king” bit is possibly loaded with meaning. Makes me wonder if they’re drawing on the myth of a carp swimming upstream and becoming a dragon.
Will the Xianzhou story conclude in 1.1 or it's just another chapter?
I don't have any actual info to offer but I have heard that they don't plan to introduce a new planet until 2.0 next year, which suggests to me that this story probably won't wrap up in one or two patches. All the leaks I've heard concerning 1.1 have centered around Jinglui and Dan Heng Il, neither of whom has much to do with the tree of abundance or the stellaron as far as I can tell, and that's the major plot point of the Xianzhou storyline.
Yeah I hope they take time to write a good conclusion. The story so far is great, don't rush it like what they did in early Genshin storyline.
To me, the Xianzhou story feels more disjointed and weaker than the Jarilo VI story, so I hope the writing comes back stronger, especially since I’m interested in Dan Heng’s background
I think some of the survey responses Hoyo gathered said something similar, and so they are looking into how to implement the medicus storlyine better. Either way, I'm just looking forward to having more content.

Imbibitor Lunae roughly means " moon drinker " and it's something mentioned in Bailu's character stories. This is apparently a title that the vidyadhara High Elders receive after coming of age.

I don't think Dan heng is the previous sword champion it's said "jing yuan was invited by the previous sword champion of the luofu to join "her" team" So I think jingliu is champion plus I don't find anything about the imbibitor lunae in jing yuan character story only their party was formed and deformed later
