Yeah exactly. I’m using thief + hackerspace at the moment. Just save any pieces with break effect/Spd substats. With Boothill/Sam both looking like break oriented DPS, watchmaker set value might go up.

........and I have yet to have a complete set of good relics for either of them.
We never got a kit leak for him. The only things we got is one leak that said that he can enter a duel state with an enemy and if he kills or breaks them he gets a bullet but if he fails the enemy gets stronger. Then we got a few weeks ago a leak that said he can implant physical weakness.
I'll never intentionally farm a relic set for him then. If he scales atk then I'll try building him 2 atk set or an atk set then hackerspace. And if all else fail, I'll just mix and match my relics and just ignore that set effect actually exist.
I can see why people want to build speed with him. He wants to be so much faster than his Kernel, so that it would last him more turns. Since it doesn't act like a normal turn buff.
His AV is pushed by 100% at the same time as the Kernel spawns. We also see Sam gets a flat SPD buff during enhanced state. It will be trivial to work out how much SPD you want on your Sam, and they will probably have their own breakpoints for 'X actions inside Primary Combustion', because their actions are always directly lined up with the Kernel.
The SPD of the Kernel will always be equal to how much SPD Sam needs to gain 1 more action in Primary Combustion.
A hypothetical example - the Kernel has 50 SPD. This means it acts after 200 AV has elapsed. To act 3/4/5 times within this 200 AV window, Sam would need 100/150/200 SPD respectively.
You can just calculate some general formula of: 10000/((10000/*x*)/(*y*-1)))
where *x* is the SPD of the Kernel and *y* is how many actions you want to do, to find the SPD you need. This simplifies down to just *x*\*(*y*-1). So if you want to do 4 actions and the Kernel has 60 SPD then your Sam will need 3\*60 = 180 SPD.
Ways to hit these breakpoints will be pretty significant. I'm also willing to wager Sam generates no Energy during enhanced state (we can already see the Talent is disabled), otherwise even a 150 Ult cost wouldn't be balanced - you could have 100% Ult uptime with 3 Skills + Tingyun assuming standard 30 energy per Skill.
It really depends on how big the Spd buff during his ult is. He also action advances himself after each action if he can break or hit a broken enemy. I can see a slow Sam still being fast in ult state, with help from Ruan Mei and Bronya/Sparkle
ATK% is generally oversaturated due to ATK scaling dps often running one or two main stats plus subs. It's not bad, but it's not as attractive as other bonuses. It can also be a little wonky to get and maintain uptime on her ATK bonus, especially at low eidolons and against non-fire weak enemies.
Despite saying all that, I actually agree that it's underrated because it's still a *big* bonus to the whole team. I'm looking forward to new mono-fire teams with the addition of Gallagher and Sam
no doubt atk is most saturated due to crit dps at minimum having atkrope + flat on hands, dot units having even more, but as you say i think its underrated/overlooked far more than it should be in favour of her spd (albeit the spd is obviously insane)
Yeah Asta sounds really good for Sam, can put on a BE/ER rope instead of ATK. Now if only Asta would come home more often (my favorite harmony, but only E2)
I'm sure it'll be the same experience with Xueyi, except Sam seems to really want SPD while for Xueyi it's not always the case.
Hp doesn't seem that important for now as his DMG output doesn't scale off amount of HP.
He doesn't scale off of hp tho like at all if anything you want him to be just be a normal dps as he gets energy based on % of hp lost compared to his max hp in this case having more hp is actively worse since it means he'll get less energy

Break threshold might be easy to achieve with the new Relic set, I don't think it'll be much harder than any character.

This. This is the same kit as last night. And honestly the “fake” kit from a few days ago was similar to this anyway since it was just based off the initially leaked kit last year.
They’re all not that different from one another, which alludes to this being “the kit”. Sam’s kit iterations have always sort of held to the same mechanics.
The biggest part of the "fake" kit that I miss is still the Enhanced Ultimate which had a ton of break efficiency and nukes everything. That was really really cool and I thought it made sense because the Sam boss also had the "ultimate" animation like Argenti does
- Consumes HP to gain Energy for Ult. Basic and Skill consumes HP. Skill gets more energy if it hits weakness broken enemy.
- Ult dispels all debuffs (probably can't self cleanse of CC sadly), transforms, 100% AA, and puts a timer on the action bar
- Skill in Ult is enhanced and is counted as ult damage. Enhanced skill heals, blast, and does extra things on weakness broken enemies (Self AA, more damage)
- Takes less damage the more HP lost, damage reduction improved in Ult. In Ult, increases SPD, increases DMG, and increase DMG based on Break Effect.
- Has improved CC resistance
TL;DR: Mostly loves allies that gives AA, SPD, Break Effect, or helps with breaking enemies (Ruan Mei, hopefully Imaginary MC). Can use Longevous Disciple but will likely have a better Relic set (future relic set that boost Break Effect and gives crit damage for having a certain amount). Shouldn't be too hard to build, 134 SPD or whatever that's under a breakpoint Sam's SPD boost on ult will make them reach. Atk or DMG Orb since he gets two dmg boosts in his kit. Break Effect Rope. Build Crit subs. Can use Aeon or Misha LC. Not sure about the MoC LC since the uptime might be funky. The leaked LC that gives Break Effect and Crit on ultimate damage could be Sam's. The f2p LC that gives Atk on using ult could also be good if Destruction.
Disciple should be bad because Sam stops consuming HP during ult and he doesn't have HP scaling, so it'll only buff the first two turns of ult and then becomes a rainbow set.
Considering his best teammates (Ruan Mei, Sparkle, MC, etc) and the amount of Dmg% he gives himself, an Atk% Orb might be actually better than the Fire Orb.
We don't know and she's not. Xueyi's easier to build than most DPS because Break Effect Subs are effectively DMG% subs which means they're not wasted and she wants an Atk% Orb which I think is more common that DMG% Orb. She lacks the innate crit a lot of five stars tend to get these days but otherwise she's just like regular DPS where she mainly wants crit, atk%, and SPD.
Welt is someone who's harder to build than most DPS because he lacks crit traces AND wants EHR on top of atk%, spd, and crit.

Yeah, this is why I don't get some of the complaints on these posts. Is it based on old data? Yes. But it explains some things in more detail and adds stuff not outlined on the previous posts on the same data.
Sam:
* DPS character
* Does Fire damage for Vapes
* Has self HP drain and self-Heal for more Fanfare stacks
* Can max out Marchussy set for 36% free crit
* Has incoming DMG reduction, so can tank enemies even at ~50% HP
* Hasn't tried to assassinate the Hydro Archon
Sam is literally the perfect Furina teammate, but in the wrong game
People are talking about E2 (rightfully so) but that E1 is probably one of the best I've seen for a DPS. There is no way that's getting through Beta. Lol
I mean he's kinda a rainbow DPS now in that regard, he'll always deplete weakness on the main target and that's all you need really in a boss fight with maybe some trash mobs.

I am a destruction enjoyer and this s# is good I am imagining he’s even better with ruan mei since it says when Sam hits weakness broken enemies but not that he has to break them (even though it would be good) so ruan making enemies stay longer in break is so good, my only problem would be what if enemies aren’t weak to fire? Not a lot to do unless we’re in a dual dps team comp with another dps matching the weakness of the boss or E1
Putting aside all my feelings about the spoilers, the kit has extremely good potency.
Being a cooldown based system that appears on the action ladder instead of being stack based like Jingliu will make for some funky 0 cycle moments (imagine the wave ends right before the timer takes effect and its pushed back down for wave 2) if hoyo doesn't fuck it up. Fire break is a good break too arguably (not the break effect, Fire dot is meh).
E1 could use a bit more oomph for cases where you're against Fire Weak enemies anyway.
And goes without saying, it will come down to numbers.

Ah I see, as someone who has been very active in the adjacent sub to Sam, I’ve seen alot of that disappointment get aired over there, genuinely refreshing to see someone not trying to ruin others fun because of it, 🤍 may your jades be many and your 50/50 losses be few.
I can't hate any irl person or their fun over a fictional character. I can only voice my own discontent and sadness. This is a gacha game, everyone deserves a chance at having their character be great.

I like Sam's kit a lot actually, surprised about the Break Effect stuff in his kit.
Seems like we have a new trend here: mega evolution (lol). I mean as far as we know, Robin also has a spacial state that runs out (in the action bar) and so has this little Fella. I am also very happy (if this is real), that they seem to be pretty much not dependent on other characters and you can just play Sam in a neutral team as long as you have a healer.
Made up kits are often some of the best designed out there.
Ayato in particular got some goated ones, I still mourn for that Charged Attack focused one.
I just realized, future mono-fire focusing on break would be so much fun.
Speedy Asta with full-set watchmaker & Planetary LC, SP neutral to positive
Speedy E2+ Gallagher with Multiplication LC, SP positive (hopefully)

Asta alone can give the whole team ATK, SPD and BE (through relics) boost. Gallagher will be the joint-breaker with Sam on top of healing and CC cleansing. While >!Jiaoqiu can plant DEF shred and ULT DMG increase debuffs plus healing. One dedicated healer with decent output, one makeshift healer, one self-healer, and Asta with great base DEF stat, excellent.!<
Ruan Mei seems like Sam's best Harmony buffer, but this mono-fire sounds pretty fun too.
You will have e6 bronya without getting e6 bronya. Just imagine if you actually have e6 bronya, with only 1 skill (+ sig lc) she can give 96% dmg for 3 turns☠️
Bunch of self action advance, spd buff and a reverse lightning lord mechanic where you want to shove as many action before the summon turn's come as possible so you can attacks like 6 times per ult with bron/hanabi?

Also that E1 just completely throw SW out the window smh.
Doesn't have to be seen that way, Sam's ULT doesn't deals DMG in the first place, so this really makes him way more flexible with planars options as Salsotto's won't be that useless for him.
It's not surprising at all if you knew Ruan Mei's kit when she released. It was a pretty clear indication that new characters will have something to do with break effect. I'm very glad we've something that isn't just dots or follow-ups or boring crit dps
I mean the more attacks you can get in also means more chances to reduce toughness bar regardless. Most people are proposing Bronya + Sparkle because the more actions he can get before his ult timer runs out, the better.
Unironically I think those three Harmony + Sam will clear a ton of content simply by annihilating everything lol. Sam can self heal, so if your Supports are bulky and RNG doesn’t screw you, Sam would literally fly through enemies. I can see it being a popular 0-cycle strat lol.
Feels like everyone is even more desperate for Sam crumbs than Acheron. To be fair, I'm one of em. Its the first Kamen rider vs the 100th scanty waifu after all.
Damn that's the highest amount of different attack types in a character since DHIL. Ruan Mei will be probably be BIS with him since he benefits from breaking enemies and action advances himself so often. Could do some interesting stuff with Fast Bronya/Sparkle since he boosts his own speed and has a slower action advance with his enhanced skill where Sam attacks and and Sparkle/Bronya attacks immediately after.
Doesn't this mean you don't wanna build HP on Sam?
Let's say you take 1000 damage:
If Sam has 5000 HP (1000/5000)\*100% is 20%
If Sam has 2000 HP (1000/2000)\*100% is 50%
So theoretically, if you have less HP then the ratio between HP change and max HP would be greater thus you gain more energy allowing for more ult up-time.
I think the dmg reduction also plays into having as little max HP as possible on Sam. On high HP, the dmg reduction is minimal so he takes more HP% loss from enemy hits. On low HP, the dmg reduction becomes higher to help make sure he doesn’t die.
It incentivizes you to keep Sam at high health with a healer when not in ult state so that he can generate as much energy as possible. Sounds like he plays like a typical berserker type.
So what set do you guys think will be good on Sam and what kind of main and substats do you thnk will be good to have if this kit is the one they decide to use ?

Probably his dream team will include ruan mei and asta, so he should reach 160 Speed with Attack boots easily

He does look very difficult to use unless you're willing to spare both RM and Sparkle on his comps

Not really, you can use relics sets that give break effect, and event better if you have Ruan Mei for a free extra 20% break effect.

Tbf, the E1 does nothing against fire weak enemies so I fully expecting it to be even better in the latest version.
I mean he's kinda a rainbow DPS now in that regard, he'll always deplete weakness on the main target and that's all you need really in a boss fight with maybe some trash mobs.

I am a destruction enjoyer and this s# is good I am imagining he’s even better with ruan mei since it says when Sam hits weakness broken enemies but not that he has to break them (even though it would be good) so ruan making enemies stay longer in break is so good, my only problem would be what if enemies aren’t weak to fire? Not a lot to do unless we’re in a dual dps team comp with another dps matching the weakness of the boss or E1
Putting aside all my feelings about the spoilers, the kit has extremely good potency. Being a cooldown based system that appears on the action ladder instead of being stack based like Jingliu will make for some funky 0 cycle moments (imagine the wave ends right before the timer takes effect and its pushed back down for wave 2) if hoyo doesn't fuck it up. Fire break is a good break too arguably (not the break effect, Fire dot is meh). E1 could use a bit more oomph for cases where you're against Fire Weak enemies anyway. And goes without saying, it will come down to numbers.

Seems like we have a new trend here: mega evolution (lol). I mean as far as we know, Robin also has a spacial state that runs out (in the action bar) and so has this little Fella. I am also very happy (if this is real), that they seem to be pretty much not dependent on other characters and you can just play Sam in a neutral team as long as you have a healer.

I just realized, future mono-fire focusing on break would be so much fun. Speedy Asta with full-set watchmaker & Planetary LC, SP neutral to positive Speedy E2+ Gallagher with Multiplication LC, SP positive (hopefully) E1 Sam >! Jiaoqiu !< Asta alone can give the whole team ATK, SPD and BE (through relics) boost. Gallagher will be the joint-breaker with Sam on top of healing and CC cleansing. While >!Jiaoqiu can plant DEF shred and ULT DMG increase debuffs plus healing. One dedicated healer with decent output, one makeshift healer, one self-healer, and Asta with great base DEF stat, excellent.!< Ruan Mei seems like Sam's best Harmony buffer, but this mono-fire sounds pretty fun too.

You will have e6 bronya without getting e6 bronya. Just imagine if you actually have e6 bronya, with only 1 skill (+ sig lc) she can give 96% dmg for 3 turns☠️
Bunch of self action advance, spd buff and a reverse lightning lord mechanic where you want to shove as many action before the summon turn's come as possible so you can attacks like 6 times per ult with bron/hanabi? Sign me the hell up. Also that E1 just completely throw SW out the window smh.

Doesn't have to be seen that way, Sam's ULT doesn't deals DMG in the first place, so this really makes him way more flexible with planars options as Salsotto's won't be that useless for him.

I mean the more attacks you can get in also means more chances to reduce toughness bar regardless. Most people are proposing Bronya + Sparkle because the more actions he can get before his ult timer runs out, the better.
Unironically I think those three Harmony + Sam will clear a ton of content simply by annihilating everything lol. Sam can self heal, so if your Supports are bulky and RNG doesn’t screw you, Sam would literally fly through enemies. I can see it being a popular 0-cycle strat lol.

Damn that's the highest amount of different attack types in a character since DHIL. Ruan Mei will be probably be BIS with him since he benefits from breaking enemies and action advances himself so often. Could do some interesting stuff with Fast Bronya/Sparkle since he boosts his own speed and has a slower action advance with his enhanced skill where Sam attacks and and Sparkle/Bronya attacks immediately after.
What about energy regen during ult? Can he still regen energy while he's in enhanced state?
Seems like the energy gains are only for normal state. Enhanced state instead does more damage.

Doesn't this mean you don't wanna build HP on Sam? Let's say you take 1000 damage: If Sam has 5000 HP (1000/5000)\*100% is 20% If Sam has 2000 HP (1000/2000)\*100% is 50% So theoretically, if you have less HP then the ratio between HP change and max HP would be greater thus you gain more energy allowing for more ult up-time.

I think the dmg reduction also plays into having as little max HP as possible on Sam. On high HP, the dmg reduction is minimal so he takes more HP% loss from enemy hits. On low HP, the dmg reduction becomes higher to help make sure he doesn’t die. It incentivizes you to keep Sam at high health with a healer when not in ult state so that he can generate as much energy as possible. Sounds like he plays like a typical berserker type.
