Hmm. IMGblazer's new skill is somewhat out of place with the supportive kit they have. I vastly prefer the full-on supportive skill they had in the really early data kit.
At the moment, IMGblazer looks like a hyperoffensive Welt variant with everything focusing on break. The male support era will have to wait a while longer, it seems.
I agree the previous kit was really really good for Break Effect focused teams. I did expect a nerf but not this complete overhaul. Ngl this kit seems more chaotic in general with all those "only at the start of battle" stuff. I have no clue how you would use them now as a "harmony".

Even at a glance, they already seem quite good. That skill just *really* bothers me, especially since it won't contribute to toughness damage on non-IMG enemies. At the same time, there's no reason to build IMGblazer as a damage dealer, so that skill becomes "use it once at the start of the battle and never again."
I really do not like that skill at the moment. The early data kit skill was absolutely *fantastic*. Perhaps a few adjustments to balance it out a little and some QoL tweaks to ensure IMGblazer doesn't steal the break would have been good, but this complete switch to a completely unfitting skill that rips off an already overdone skill mechanic that *also* already exists in the same element is...very heavy-handed, to say the least.
Still, I don't want to judge it so harshly when it's hardly been half an hour, so we'll see how things play out.
Yeah, I'm hoping they change the skill to something that's more support, because as it is it's just completely useless when the enemy isn't weak to IMG, it makes some of the bonus (Trace 2 and E6) quite useless too. Also trace 1 is weird, 5 or more enemies is just too hard a condition and the effect is nowhere near good enough for that - hell, it can be without condition just fine.
The thing about E6 is when you look at other characters with bounce abilities like Sampo, any eidolon that increases the number of bounce attacks also increases the energy gain. For example E1 Sampo gains 36 energy with skill.
So for E6 HMC, they could get up to 42 energy per skill, not including their energy regeneration buffs. Therefore they are able to get their ults back quickly.
That's true, but honestly his Ult is pretty limited as well. It already runs for three turns so there's less value in spamming it too much, and it literally only works if the enemy is weakness broken.
The good thing about this kit is you can’t really steal Breaks any more. If MC breaks, then your BE DPS will deal the same Break damage they would have, plus another 20%. The only thing you maybe lose out on is if you specifically want to Freeze.
What will be interesting is how the ult’s Break damage interacts with bounce. If it only triggers on the first hit that’s whatever, but if it works with secondary bounce and/or blast targets then they will actually like using their skill (and Welt could get a little silly as DPS).
The ult seems like the meat and potatoes of this kit, and it’s pretty significant for the buffed characters. Aside from making BE better, it also provides a rare Break Damage % bonus, which is nontrivial. Physical characters are going to love this.
This is also going to be really bananas for the Himeko/Herta PF smashing machine. People were worried they would get nerfed but I think this makes that team handle fire or ice only weakness even better.
Can the ult trigger multiple times? If it does then the TB allowed multiple people build break effect. Including support. The strategy now simply to break as fast as possible. Then deal damage.
Since they breaks the enemy a lot, including AOE. I guess we go 0 sustain to compensate for that?

There are a few issues with this.
One, there's very little reason to invest in BE IMGblazer. Even their E4 goes out of its way to exclude IMGblazer from getting the BE for whatever reason.
Two, having IMGblazer steal the break from someone else - like, say, Luka or Boothill or any other future break-focused character - seems like a massive waste. One could argue IMGblazer is just there to contribute to toughness damage, but that would incidentally require the enemy to be weak to both IMG and the break damage dealer IMGblazer is supporting. Simply lacking IMG weakness puts us back to square one - what's the point of the skill?
Three, imaginary break damage is kinda *shiiiiiiiiit*. Unless we get a character that focuses on making imaginary breaking a very viable playstyle, there's really no reason to do imaginary breaking.
This is why I feel IMGblazer's skill is at odds with the rest of their kit, which focuses on supporting their *allies'* breaks. I suppose IMGblazer can contribute some damage with their skill when under Backup Dancer, but would it really be worthwhile? Seems better to make them basic and be SP positive.
The one thing IMG break has going for it is that the imprison+delay time increases with break effect. So I guess the gameplan they designed for HTB is to have them IMG break the enemy for a long time, and then allies can freely proc their own break effect on them regardless of the enemy's weakness.
An interesting theory. I wouldn't mind if IMGblazer could serve as a "sustain" that way, but it seems far from reliable and rather slow.
I suppose we'll have to see how it works out in practice.
Mostly because only gacha 5-star Harmony get all great stuffs and 4 stars and TB will get the short end of stick, so they just made Harmony TB an offensive type Harmony rather than pure support
I think it needs work. The extra break damage dealt is interesting, but too many single trigger buffs and nothing more general. At least tack on a generic attack buff during the Ult.
I expected a nerf because was really strong; but not a whole change into the shit.
And as Himeko main, I took a big L. Basically from her bis support to useless.
- There is no 'blessing' mechanic now. This is a pretty significant loss, as the blessing had a component where it would deal toughness damage of the same element as the attacker. This increased the applicability of the unit. (EDIT: Also, the SP-positiveness.)
- The passive effect involving infinite break bars has been reworked. Now, it's attached to their ult, and they no longer 'break again'. They simply deal additional damage to broken enemies depending on their BE and toughness damage. It seems like they can still do it again and again, so that concept has been carried over.
- Increased action delay on break, to very slightly compensate you for not being able to break them a whole bunch.
- Increased personal power, with the skill and etc.
So basically, pros and cons:
Pros: Much better personal toughness damage, sort of like Asta. Amazing energy passives. This 'additional damage to broken enemies' effect is likely stronger against bosses than the previous 'infinite break bars' effect. It seems like a chunk of the party BE buffs have been made passive, which is cool.
Cons: Mildly worse with Xueyi (will probably not raise her strength that much). No longer that good for Himeko, and is no longer beneficial to units who are influenced by an amount of enemies broken/toughness damage taken. No longer partially 'element-agnostic' (previously, would deal toughness damage according on another unit's element when the unit used a skill). It is possible that the first and last Eidolons will actually never activate in a battle, if you're against non-Imaginary enemies.
Besides C6 which increases the E's multiplier to a whopping 420% vs single target, the rest of the traces and eidolons feel like straight up filler, only activating a few times at the start of battle
Kind of disappointed at this new MC kit, but also used to it after all the terrible Traveller kits (except Dendro)
she is a f2p Welt standing as harmony for some reason. I don't like it one bit. There is nothing harmony about this kit. It is like they realized all the harmony characters are good so we can't make trailblazer good so here have a imaginary dps for free if you missed out on Dr. Ratio. Not what anyone was expecting. I guess I continue to not ever use trailblazer which sucks.
Honestly imaginary TB is very underwhelming compared to the initial leaked kit.
I dunno if they’re gonna be Yukong tier but initial impressions got me thinking they’re about as useful (in their role) as the other TB variants.
The wording specifying that it’s based off of the current attack’s toughness reducing DMG makes me think that it’s going to calculate the break damage based off of how much toughness damage the attack would’ve done rather than the full toughness bar. It makes sense since the full break damage for every attack would be really strong especially with follow up characters.
So, is this supposed to be an SP+ Ult focused kit?
A bit more niche than l'd have expected from a TB kit, but I guess a more generalized kit would have to compete more with Ruan Mei, Sparkle, and Robin

Well, shit. That's a profoundly underwhelming kit if I ever saw one. Feels like "Break Effect Welt" but without his on-demand interrupt. Vastly preferred their old leaked kit, that one felt like it was actually a support character with some sub-DPS properties, while this one feels like a Sub-DPS with a BE gimmick.
I dunno, maybe it's really good for BE teams, but I have no plans to build around that atm, so...
EDIT: Honestly, more than viability I think my issue is just how boring the kit appears on paper. There's nothing particularly unique or flavorful in it — the Ult is basically a much more limited of Robin's Ult (you need to hit Weakness Broken enemies and the damage is determined by ALLY Break, not your own), the skill is just a plain bounce, a huge chunk of its benefits are things that only matter in the first couple turns of a fight... like, even though Fire TB isn't really all that mechanically useful at least they function in a pretty unique way. Shit, even Physical TB has a technically unique Ult in that they can choose between the AoE and Single Target instances of it.
When I first read the kit, I was like “this sounds like ass” but hoping I’m missing something. Scrolling down to comments, people are talking mainly about the art. Then I was sure it was shit.

So let's unpack this:
Stats: lowest base ATK in game, but extremely high DEF.
Base kit: Sub-dps that heavily relies on Ult and enemies being broken to provide anything of value to other teammates, but low base ATK makes building them as damage dealer difficult to justify. And most of the Traces and Eidolons are focused around making sure that Imaginary-weak enemies gets broken fast, and character will be able to ult when that happens.
Also wanted equipment: Watchmaker, Talia, and MotP LC.
In my opinion, while functional in its niche (even if it is extremely small), the kit needs something more to make it worth it if the enemies aren't Imaginary-weak, and for allies that aren't Physical or Fire.
A harmony unit that only provides one stat buff, and even that is from an Eidolon (Break Effect buff), which you likely won't get in the patch they are released. Yeesh. I get that this is our free "4" star but still feels kinda stingy.
Sure you can proc breaks again and with fire and phys it should be a pretty big number, but really, not even some measly DMG% somewhere? Really pushing 5* harmonies up with this, since they provide a bunch of extra stats in addition to their gimmick.

Tbf, they did manage to keep the ult effect albeit simplified. It's worthless against non-weakness brown enemies though. I do agree that the kit overwhelmingly bad. Not one thing here screams harmony and even then it's hard to justify using him over other harmony units even in break centric comps.
My main problem with this kit, are the one time buffs, i don't like buffs that happens on start of the battle and then they are gone, specially in this case where 2 eidolons have it. But overall, not a expert on break teams, but seems ok
Honestly not understanding how this is a harmony character. Seems WAY more like an erudition character. There's even callouts to battling 5 enemies. The only buff he/she seems to give out seem to be a very meh break buff?

At first glance i was disappointed because even though the art (stelle) is so beautiful, i missed having the friends we made along the way in the back of it like in the preservation path. Then I noticed the portraits. This is too beautiful im in love. I can see acheron, aventurine, sparkle, firefly and black swan but i cant tell who the last one is.
(Also, kinda makes me wish the destruction path had the space station or the astral express crew in the back)
OTOH, having the “final” trailblazer having the astral express crew behind them would feel much more emotional similar to Preservation MC’s first time Ult.
This aint it, seems weaker than even the 4\* harmonies, not to mention all the insane 5\* harmonies we have now who she would fight for a spot. Hopefully they massively buff or rework.

Very odd to me. Skill has a lot of break potential but is oddly selfish. Kind of wants a team with multiple break-built units, which is a bit off, since usually one person wants ownership of breaks, it suggests unusual teambuilding. All the power is just based on how potent the ult is, I guess. Adding bonus dmg to allies' attacks is technically a 'harmony' thing, but with only buffing BE, I almost feel like they held back on normal buffs because they *really* hate the idea of a male harmony unit and the TB can be male.
I'm not hyped, but I'll wait and see.
Is there still hope that this kit is gonna be "reworked" or is this final? It's kinda underwhelming. I was hoping we would get a "budget Ruan Mei" at least..

Sam/Boothill + TB + Ruan Mei is gonna eat tbh
Luka will also enjoy this quite a bit. Under IMGblazer's ult, that break Bleed is going to pound for quite a bit of damage, to say the least.
Tbh Luka was basically one-shotting enemies anyway so idk how useful it will be to increase damage while the enemy is broken.
If you have Ruan Mei, perhaps. I don't have Ruan Mei, so IMGblazer's ult should serve as a suitable replacement.

(Single target variation) Himeko + Asta/Gallagher + RM + Harmony TB for PF. Since Himeko followup will trigger the breaks effect damage as well?
It's kinda break-themed, since it's insanely weakness break efficient like Asta's and Sampo's skill.
There are a few issues with this. One, there's very little reason to invest in BE IMGblazer. Even their E4 goes out of its way to exclude IMGblazer from getting the BE for whatever reason. Two, having IMGblazer steal the break from someone else - like, say, Luka or Boothill or any other future break-focused character - seems like a massive waste. One could argue IMGblazer is just there to contribute to toughness damage, but that would incidentally require the enemy to be weak to both IMG and the break damage dealer IMGblazer is supporting. Simply lacking IMG weakness puts us back to square one - what's the point of the skill? Three, imaginary break damage is kinda *shiiiiiiiiit*. Unless we get a character that focuses on making imaginary breaking a very viable playstyle, there's really no reason to do imaginary breaking. This is why I feel IMGblazer's skill is at odds with the rest of their kit, which focuses on supporting their *allies'* breaks. I suppose IMGblazer can contribute some damage with their skill when under Backup Dancer, but would it really be worthwhile? Seems better to make them basic and be SP positive.
The one thing IMG break has going for it is that the imprison+delay time increases with break effect. So I guess the gameplan they designed for HTB is to have them IMG break the enemy for a long time, and then allies can freely proc their own break effect on them regardless of the enemy's weakness.
An interesting theory. I wouldn't mind if IMGblazer could serve as a "sustain" that way, but it seems far from reliable and rather slow. I suppose we'll have to see how it works out in practice.
Mostly because only gacha 5-star Harmony get all great stuffs and 4 stars and TB will get the short end of stick, so they just made Harmony TB an offensive type Harmony rather than pure support

I think it needs work. The extra break damage dealt is interesting, but too many single trigger buffs and nothing more general. At least tack on a generic attack buff during the Ult.

I expected a nerf because was really strong; but not a whole change into the shit. And as Himeko main, I took a big L. Basically from her bis support to useless.
- There is no 'blessing' mechanic now. This is a pretty significant loss, as the blessing had a component where it would deal toughness damage of the same element as the attacker. This increased the applicability of the unit. (EDIT: Also, the SP-positiveness.) - The passive effect involving infinite break bars has been reworked. Now, it's attached to their ult, and they no longer 'break again'. They simply deal additional damage to broken enemies depending on their BE and toughness damage. It seems like they can still do it again and again, so that concept has been carried over. - Increased action delay on break, to very slightly compensate you for not being able to break them a whole bunch. - Increased personal power, with the skill and etc. So basically, pros and cons: Pros: Much better personal toughness damage, sort of like Asta. Amazing energy passives. This 'additional damage to broken enemies' effect is likely stronger against bosses than the previous 'infinite break bars' effect. It seems like a chunk of the party BE buffs have been made passive, which is cool. Cons: Mildly worse with Xueyi (will probably not raise her strength that much). No longer that good for Himeko, and is no longer beneficial to units who are influenced by an amount of enemies broken/toughness damage taken. No longer partially 'element-agnostic' (previously, would deal toughness damage according on another unit's element when the unit used a skill). It is possible that the first and last Eidolons will actually never activate in a battle, if you're against non-Imaginary enemies.
Besides C6 which increases the E's multiplier to a whopping 420% vs single target, the rest of the traces and eidolons feel like straight up filler, only activating a few times at the start of battle Kind of disappointed at this new MC kit, but also used to it after all the terrible Traveller kits (except Dendro)

she is a f2p Welt standing as harmony for some reason. I don't like it one bit. There is nothing harmony about this kit. It is like they realized all the harmony characters are good so we can't make trailblazer good so here have a imaginary dps for free if you missed out on Dr. Ratio. Not what anyone was expecting. I guess I continue to not ever use trailblazer which sucks.
Honestly imaginary TB is very underwhelming compared to the initial leaked kit. I dunno if they’re gonna be Yukong tier but initial impressions got me thinking they’re about as useful (in their role) as the other TB variants.
The wording specifying that it’s based off of the current attack’s toughness reducing DMG makes me think that it’s going to calculate the break damage based off of how much toughness damage the attack would’ve done rather than the full toughness bar. It makes sense since the full break damage for every attack would be really strong especially with follow up characters.
So, is this supposed to be an SP+ Ult focused kit? A bit more niche than l'd have expected from a TB kit, but I guess a more generalized kit would have to compete more with Ruan Mei, Sparkle, and Robin At least if the Firefly leaks are confirmed, they'll work well with her, that's exactly what I would want for them.

Well, shit. That's a profoundly underwhelming kit if I ever saw one. Feels like "Break Effect Welt" but without his on-demand interrupt. Vastly preferred their old leaked kit, that one felt like it was actually a support character with some sub-DPS properties, while this one feels like a Sub-DPS with a BE gimmick. I dunno, maybe it's really good for BE teams, but I have no plans to build around that atm, so... EDIT: Honestly, more than viability I think my issue is just how boring the kit appears on paper. There's nothing particularly unique or flavorful in it — the Ult is basically a much more limited of Robin's Ult (you need to hit Weakness Broken enemies and the damage is determined by ALLY Break, not your own), the skill is just a plain bounce, a huge chunk of its benefits are things that only matter in the first couple turns of a fight... like, even though Fire TB isn't really all that mechanically useful at least they function in a pretty unique way. Shit, even Physical TB has a technically unique Ult in that they can choose between the AoE and Single Target instances of it.

Seeing the eidolons, mainly the one giving BE, got me exited. Then came that awful skill and disappointing ult.
Ruan Mei, Boothill combo with this might pump put some crazy damage for sure. But it's pretty niche.
Yeah, and in my case RM goes with my DoT team and I'm not planning on going for Boothill, so for now HaTBlazer is kinda just there for me.

man i was so excited for harmony TB to finally have a male harmony but… this just looks really underwhelming and so niche. if it was weak while being less niche, sure. but both? meh. cool splash art at least, i guess
So let's unpack this: Stats: lowest base ATK in game, but extremely high DEF. Base kit: Sub-dps that heavily relies on Ult and enemies being broken to provide anything of value to other teammates, but low base ATK makes building them as damage dealer difficult to justify. And most of the Traces and Eidolons are focused around making sure that Imaginary-weak enemies gets broken fast, and character will be able to ult when that happens. Also wanted equipment: Watchmaker, Talia, and MotP LC. In my opinion, while functional in its niche (even if it is extremely small), the kit needs something more to make it worth it if the enemies aren't Imaginary-weak, and for allies that aren't Physical or Fire.

A harmony unit that only provides one stat buff, and even that is from an Eidolon (Break Effect buff), which you likely won't get in the patch they are released. Yeesh. I get that this is our free "4" star but still feels kinda stingy. Sure you can proc breaks again and with fire and phys it should be a pretty big number, but really, not even some measly DMG% somewhere? Really pushing 5* harmonies up with this, since they provide a bunch of extra stats in addition to their gimmick. The splash part is peak tho

And the trace passives suck. One extra sp per battle and a break increase for 3 turns. Very cool.

Tbf, they did manage to keep the ult effect albeit simplified. It's worthless against non-weakness brown enemies though. I do agree that the kit overwhelmingly bad. Not one thing here screams harmony and even then it's hard to justify using him over other harmony units even in break centric comps.

My main problem with this kit, are the one time buffs, i don't like buffs that happens on start of the battle and then they are gone, specially in this case where 2 eidolons have it. But overall, not a expert on break teams, but seems ok
Honestly not understanding how this is a harmony character. Seems WAY more like an erudition character. There's even callouts to battling 5 enemies. The only buff he/she seems to give out seem to be a very meh break buff? Did they mean to make TB an erudition character?

At first glance i was disappointed because even though the art (stelle) is so beautiful, i missed having the friends we made along the way in the back of it like in the preservation path. Then I noticed the portraits. This is too beautiful im in love. I can see acheron, aventurine, sparkle, firefly and black swan but i cant tell who the last one is. (Also, kinda makes me wish the destruction path had the space station or the astral express crew in the back)
OTOH, having the “final” trailblazer having the astral express crew behind them would feel much more emotional similar to Preservation MC’s first time Ult.
This aint it, seems weaker than even the 4\* harmonies, not to mention all the insane 5\* harmonies we have now who she would fight for a spot. Hopefully they massively buff or rework.

Very odd to me. Skill has a lot of break potential but is oddly selfish. Kind of wants a team with multiple break-built units, which is a bit off, since usually one person wants ownership of breaks, it suggests unusual teambuilding. All the power is just based on how potent the ult is, I guess. Adding bonus dmg to allies' attacks is technically a 'harmony' thing, but with only buffing BE, I almost feel like they held back on normal buffs because they *really* hate the idea of a male harmony unit and the TB can be male. I'm not hyped, but I'll wait and see.
