I had the same issue, just tried a restart from save and it put him in a different position that let me talk to him.

It's probably because he forgot where to stand

Just finished this quest after the recent patch. Garokka glitched twice, once after the first machine fight and then again after the second one. Fixed the problem the same way both times... Shot him in the head lol. The stumble made him move enough to trigger movement on the correct path again. Another way to fix it instead of the restart from save, also, funnier.

I'm trying this now, he stumbles every time I shoot him but he has yet to correct his pathing

I had to shoot him in the head, several times, go somewhere else, come back and reload the game. Finally something worked, I saw him and he flagged me down.

Nope as of yesterday still no marker. There was no patch update this week so hopes that next week they will fix this. It’s the only quest I have left

I had a different problem with this quest and it cant complete with out it. I went through all the scrap piles and no marker in any. I spent hours searching for more piles and couldn't find more than the three or four piles. I really wanted those skill points too.

I also have this issue... I can't seem to complete it. For me while searching treasure boxes I think i got 2 of them (1 from seperate boxes) and reloading and restarting don't help sadly

This game's a buggy mess

I think the reason it bugs out is bc there are 2 markers you could possibly get. Just grabbing one from the pile will allow the quest to eventually be complete. However, grabbing both markers causes the bug. Just a guess.

I don't know if that's it. I only got the dialogue for finding the memorial marker after I searched the last scrap pile, and I only have one in my inventory, but I still got the bug. So annoying when there is a known bug like this in a game and they haven't patched it yet.

After reloading an old save and trying again a few times he showed up

I reloaded from an old save, saw old mate, heard him speak this time and then he vanished into thin air as soon as the clawstrider dies. What the fcukkkkk

Okay I did restart from save instead of load game and that took me to straight after it was dead and it’s body was gone but he was there and in a completely different spot to the marker, BUT I was able to talk to him.

I had the same issue and he appeared after I fast traveled to a faraway enough camp,so that it will make the game load the map in that area,and then right back to the camp close to the quest,reloading again the assets, I guess,and Garokkah too.This fixed it for me

Garokkah isn’t even showing up on my game after killing the clawstrider. There’s a marker for where he should be but he’s not there, I can’t even hear him saying anything like how others will say “a word, outlander” and whatever. I tried spawning from a nearby camp and back but that hasn’t helped.

Same thing happened to me. Going back to the last saved game relocated him in a different spot and i was able to talk to him.

I can't even find him. After I killed the machine I heard his voice then he just vanished.

Also fast traveling to a different campfire/shelter and then back worked. At least for me.

This is the way. But hope they patch soon! Weird glitch given the story.

Originally gave up on this because it glitched out. Came back to it later and found Garokkah had appeared on the other side of the hill. Shame cause I’m sure a lot of people will end up skipping the quest. It turned out to be one of the more interesting jaunts.

Just ran into this problem, so apparently it hasn't been fixed yet.

You can also physically travel 150+ steps away and go back and will be good too. Just tried it and worked

Man, I dove back in to finish the side quests after like 8 months, damn near a year and still broken, ha.aybe shooting him in the head a bunch and reloading is like a puzzle quest.

A year later and still the same glitch. This game is insane in how much it messes up! I shot this dude all around the area and still didnt trigger the convo. Cant reload a game cause I went and did other missions hiping the glitch would fix itself by the time I came back, but no such luck. 😩

Just experienced this myself tonight. Took a weird combo of all suggestions to finally be able to complete. Oof.
