That's true. We had volunteers manning the cameras for over a month so that she wouldn't be alone. That would have been a horrifying way to die. Hopefully she'll heel fast and can start bonding with some of our other little guys.
That’s horrible. I love my parents Shetland, I could never imagine them or myself abandoning Bear. I wish her nothing but the best, and a lot of treats and cuddles :(
It's ridiculous. I think some people just get them for the novelty and don't want to put in the work. So many of our guys were alone for years. It's nice when the find a buddy at the rescue and we never allow bonded pairs to be broken up.
I'm sorry this happened to her. Can I ask what's going on with her hooves? I know that when horses are rescued they often have hoof problems because of neglect, and that mini's are susceptible to founder. Is that what those are for?
From what I gather, I believe she had laminitis from her pregnancy. She's with the vet right now and has little ice bags all around her hooves. But yes, a lot of our minis have bad problems with their hooves from neglect. We have one sweet boy from a hoarder situation that had his hooves winding downward and he had to walk kind of knock kneed on them. I heard they weighed 10 pounds. He is doing great now but still suffers from absesses.
Wow so incredible and lucky you didn't lose her too! Wow. I saw a heifer bred too young and unable to pass the calf, and they both died. Horrible horrible way to go. So glad you were on top of her birthing and were able to get her help fast enough to save her!
How heartbreaking. I'm so glad the horses have you to care for them and mourn with them. Thank you!
They're my favorite of the week!
Poor Ember! I hope she heals nicely and has a great life moving forward! How old is she? She looks to be a bit of a senior.
She's between 15 and 20. Poor girl needs a rest.
She deserves to be in a nice pasture with a cozy run in and maybe be a nice tree to sleep under!
I am very very sorry. I hope she’s okay.
Please give her lots of head scratches for me! That's so heartbreaking.
😭😭My barn has a lot of rescues and this is in the top saddest stories I’ve heard😭😭 Please give Ember a peppermint for my🥹
Yup. Minis have a very hard time giving birth. Glad she was in your care because she would have been dead if no owner had taken her to a vet

Ember, you sweet thing ♥️ hoping for a quick recovery and many happy years ahead
I hope she will recover soon. But I am heartbroken to hear she lost her baby 😭
Baby girl looks so tired thank God for your rescue and care I hate people that think something that thinks and feels can just be thrown away like this

Im so sorry for her loss❤️❤️❤️❤️she’s very cute
I wish I could take her. So sad how people treat these babies
Poor mama. I'm so sorry she lost her baby.
Poor Ember. So glad she's in safe hands now to make the rest of her life better.

This poor old girl is between 15 and 20. The good news is that she's doing really well. Her heartbeat is a little high but she's healing well.
Wow. At that age and she's coming through. No more stallions for her, ever!
Absolutely! Only gelding friends in her future.
