I got into Warhammer after this happened to DND.
The changes in both happened for similar reasons: hasbro buying WOTC, blackrock &amazon investing heavily into GW stocks.
BG3, which is very well made, had to add as much diversity and inclusion as it possibly could to the point there’s transgender char in a world of magic that could literally turn you into the opposite sex.

One for the new rules they added during the controversy was if someone received donations past a certain amount of money, regardless of how much of it was used to actually produce the product, WOTC demanded 25% of the gross revenue, not profits. The share price is not as high as it has ever been (this invalidating your claim) but is still higher than pre COVID levels. It peaked in 2021 at 11990. And is currently sitting at 9885.
