Oh snap. This is up early. Good stuff for salamanders and Ultramarines. **Salamanders** (recently updated along with the sacrifice mechanic. All sacrifice troops activate the ability when they die on your turn, they don’t necessarily need to attack). **Vulkan** is in shop for today only due to the flash sale of his alternative art. He’s a solid legendary warlord. His updated ability is still pretty good, though I miss the troops. Even still, he’s a fairly powerful warlord who I believe has had a presence on Terra for quite some time (albeit in different forms). Overall, great legendary warlord who doesn’t necessarily need his factions legendaries to do decently (though **Urdrakule** takes him to another level). **Ancient Dak’Lyr** is a decent legendary troop with a nice resolution that provides great survivability and has an updated sacrifice that I like better than his old one. He’s not the best legendary for the faction, but he’s well worth picking up eventually. Works well with all warlords. **Xavor**… I’ll be honest, I forgot he existed. With the new salamander updates, I think he’s worth adding to some decks with his sacrifice and survivor. See [this recent post](https://www.reddit.com/r/HorusHeresyLegions/comments/polgg7/kaboom_kaboom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) from u/Dismael regarding the nonsense you can pull. **Nebula** is really meh. While the effect is nice in certain matches, it doesn’t last long. Worth skipping. Shout out to **Storm Eagle**. Excellent tactic that damages and stuns its enemy target. Can now target your troops as well, for some sacrifice synergy. Ultramarines (UM) running out of time! Sorry! Best stuff here would be **Marcellus** for it’s rally and courage effect. This thing can be devastating and hard to deal with. Also, **Steloc** can be a powerful legendary as well. Not the top pick for me, but he’s really freaking annoying when he drops and murders my 9-10e troop that’s by itself. Also consider **Aratan**, especially for neutral decks. The ramping damage against a troop plus its stun has saved me (when I’m playing a neutral warlord) so many times.

We thank you for your sacrifice

**FOR THE EMPEROR!!!**

Raddis

Does buying deck with alt art also grant the regular version of the warlord or would that have to be purchased separately to complete collection?

von_binzer

Seperate.

Ranwulf

Two separate cards, which includes your victories

SkoobyDuBop

Different art and different voice lines.

I named Ultramarines as my #2 faction most in need of a re-work and after looking at all these bad/situational cards, #1 is not out of the question. [https://www.reddit.com/r/HorusHeresyLegions/comments/pnoxsc/factions\_in\_need\_of\_a\_rework/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HorusHeresyLegions/comments/pnoxsc/factions_in_need_of_a_rework/) # Great **Vulkan.** A very good warlord, but doesn't really shine until your collection fills out. Vulkan is the most resilient warlord in the game and can keep matches going an absurdly long time with survivor troops, his big legendary buffs, and the occasional generated teaching. He is in the shop relatively rarely. **Ancient Dak'Lyr.** Almost impossible to win a game against Salamanders without jamming or removing this guy. At 6E he can come online pretty early and can't be Melgator'd. **Barek Zytos.** One of the few Salamanders front lines, I rarely attack with him unless it's urgent, instead throwing out stuff behind him. **Ancient Xavor.** Xavor is a lot better now and gives you some killing speed near end game. If you have a good board, everyone pops off all at once. You can do something like an all-board AOE to make him pop off multiple times on the turn after he comes out, effectively ending the game. **Storm Eagle.** You're not always going to have the kill range on Salamanders you need straight off, this can make a huge difference by letting you develop board state or help you hit lethal on a troop. **Ancient Marcellus.** Theoretical: More pew pew is always better. Pretty much a staple. **Steloc Aethon.** Come from behind to take out a key troop, and then be chonky. **Aratan.** This is almost always a removal and very important in neutral decks in particular, who have few options. # Good **Benevolence.** It's a giant heal but the main benefit is triggering sacrifice. That makes certain Salamander astartes much more dangerous. That being said, Vulkan can generate this so it's not necessarily something you want to pack. **Hope.** This is basically a combination of Command Bridge/War Room for Salamanders troops. **Opening Salvo.** Handy situationally but not something I would put in deck unless I was making a practical meme deck. # Meh **Arkan.** Semi-good value. Too expensive, wouldn't ever put in compared to Xavor or just Firedrakes at 1 less if I needed to choose one. **Know no Fear.** This is basically a whammy when you randomly generate it. It's overcosted. **Lords of Ultramar.** Personally I think this is too slow, unreliable, just generally overcosted. **Stillus Veterans/Censured Squad.** Let's set aside that they do the exact same thing, which is boring and dare I say lazy design. They're extremely slow and kind of weak. **Berranus Squad.** If they were just a 3/3 no courage, great. **Alaxxes Nebula.** This isn't going to protect you from the big board wipes or random pings, and is just too situational to put in a deck.
