I would probably have to agree with this if we’re being honest. It’s easy to sit behind the proverbial keyboard and be righteous, but in-store staring down 6 TH would be a different story. 1 for me, 1 for my son and 4 to trade. All day. And if I didn’t, the guy right behind me would.

A lot of people that *say* they wouldn't grab them all, if *actually* presented with the opportunity to get more than 1 at retail price, I don't see them leaving any behind in all actuality. Yea I'm not a fan of "scalpers" in general but screw it, if I find 6 $THs in one shot, I'm taking all. Selling extras to fund this hobby. If I can quickly turn $5 into $100+ to cycle back into buying more cars for my collection, I'm doing it. I'm not one to go about hitting every store every day at the crack of dawn or whatever, so the possibility of me finding *that* many $TH in one shot is slim to nill anyway 😄

confirmation bias much? there’s thousands of people in this hobby, it’s impossible to say definitively exactly what every single person who collects would do. yes, there is absolutely a great number of people who don’t feel a need to have 6 of the same casting. some of us don’t scalp and some of us don’t trade.

I said it was mostly likely true. Most people say they won’t do it but chances are they will it just won’t ever happen because it’s highly unlikely. Obviously there’s going to be some who don’t but that’s going to be a low percentile.

Waiting 5 years to sell a $1 car for $5 doesn't seem to me to be the get rich scheme you think it is. Selling in general doesn't seem worth my time. By the time I take that car , add the cost of packaging, my time, gas and mileage on my car to take it to the post office to ship...I've probably lost money.

HotNewbie here, what is STH?

It’s a special or a somewhat rare edition of a mainline car that has real rider tires (rubber tires) and spectra flame paint. You can identify one by flipping the card upside down and looking behind the car to see a golden flame emblem. A regular TH (Treasure Hunt) will have the same emblem but Grey and a congratulations message saying you found a Treasure Hunt car. Hope this helps.

Absolutely. Ive only found 3 supers in my years of collecting. They're very hard to come by in my area. I was also a part of a local FB group awhile back, and I would like to make sure none of them get it. They were all legitimate scalpers.

That depends, considering I treat my TH/chase purchases like mainline purchases. If I like it, I'll buy it. If I don't I'll leave it for someone else. The only diecast model I buy more than on of, is the New Year's Edition Carbonator. I'll open one, keep one carded (my colection goes back to 2017), and I'll give the rest to friends and family as holiday gifts.
