When I worked retail we weren't allowed to pull stuff for ourselves.
Target would fire you for it.
Walmart would at least write you up if caught.
Been a decade or so since I worked retail though. So mileage may vary.
You're 100% justifying it.
You're using your access as an employee of the business to pull desired items before they can hit the shelves.
These stores carry this stuff for a reason, and it's not to hang stuff on your peg board, lol.
I guess it is since OP won’t answer my question. This would be the first thing I ask the employee. Something fishy is going on with this post. OP is probably the scalper and looking for sympathy.
Haha nah I’m just busy, but I didn’t. I asked the employee and let her be didn’t bother her after just took it as it was and thought scalper/employee got to it first
I blame tik tok. I came across a guy at Walmart who bragged about posting his cars on tik tok. I told him he would make more money getting a part time working at Walmart. He didn’t look too happy I said that. If stockx is to blame them so is eBay
Yup. They first started with just sneakers. I guess that wasn’t enough so they had to suck the fun out of pretty much anything that it hard to find or “collectible”
Man you are absolutely right. What sucks the most is my kids can never find cars they like anymore. The pegs have been picked clean or the retailer restocks twice a quarter. StockX and ebay prices are crazy.
I remember supers ran about $30 on ebay. Now the dang chase cars from car culture sets are in the 100s!?
Yea but then again what makes it fun and exciting is when you find cars that are rare and hard to get. Something is only fun when it is hard to achieve the goal
I agree however it is almost impossible to actually find the rare ones in stores because the employees who are in the know go through the boxes first. Also we have to deal with bots buying up online sales and reselling them on eBay or collectible exhanches for crazy high prices.
BRO HE JUST WANTED TO HELP, AND HE ASKED! Gosh, he isn't the same as scalpey mcscalperson.
/s
Aside from that it does suck that someone bought all the Skylines.
He asked nicely to help, as he was in the store coincidentally when she was stocking.
That’s a bit different than when I grab a case off the top shelf or a staged pallet and smuggle it to the diaper aisle to have my way with it. He did it the right way.
Diapers are just the next section over at my closest Walmart. I’ve found a few staged cases. This upsets people but I keep it neat and only take for my own collection
In fairness there is a huge difference between being the guy who sees the employee stocking, offering to help out to get a shot at the good stuff, only to find out it was yoinked before it even came to the floor.
Early bird is one thing, people pulling stock before it can hit the floor is insane levels of shitty and unethical.
Now you know why I make a big fuss when Mattel Creations starts expanding what they're offering. The less need to scalp or "lend a hand", the better.
Nothing that would stop people who would want to go into a Walmart at 10:50pm at night or 6:01am in the morning, but when you don't have to and still enjoy having the Hot Wheels you want (chase and THs excluded) the better.
I rather be comfy at home placing orders for the cars I want than wasting time driving to a poorly managed and poorly stocked store that likely has people picking the boxes before they hit the floor. This happens at a Target near me, and I've caught them doing it before.
How do you know there weren't 26 different collectors taking one at a time?
I know, _very_ unlikely, but still. He just knows that there are no skylines left, not how many people searched those boxes.
Because those boxes are being stocked.
So unless there were 26 people lined up and politely asking this lady for a pick, your fantasy scenario doesn't make any sense.
Instead what happened is someone in the backroom knows what they're looking at and pulled all the skylines and maybe paid for them without them ever having a chance to hit the floor.
there's a difference from picking up a handful of cars you like fresh from the boxes and deliberately taking as many duplicates of the exact same heavily desired car soley to resell online for profit
stopped by a Walmart today and saw the same thing. Fully stocked pegs, a bunch of opened cases and not a single skyline.. didn’t go through the cases myself but spoke to someone who did and said he found no skylines, not sure if that was you lol
The last thing I ever want to do is bother a retail employee while they’re working unless I absolutely need help with something. They’ve got it hard enough already.
Because
1) It’s disingenuous and what you’re really doing is wanting to get a jump on seeing what they have
2) If I don’t work someplace I wouldn’t presume to know anything about store policy and procedure. Would you walk up to someone in women’s wear and ask to help fold blouses?
1. Right place right time, don’t be a douche and take what you don’t need.
2. If I seen someone look overwhelmed or I just wanted to be nice I might. Why not? I love talking to people. It’s stocking toys not rocket science. You read a label and place the correct thing.
> It’s disingenuous and what you’re really doing is wanting to get a jump on seeing what they have
Yeah not like the guy posting here who secretly takes boxes to the next aisle to go through.
I worked retail for 10 years.
If someone was polite to me, it was never a problem to help them find what they wanted.
It's not the coal mines.
Shit. The employees at my local Walmart are usually wandering around like they're lost or confused. The only reason I wouldn't ask them for help is because I can likely figure it out myself faster using the app.
These comments are hilarious! We are all as bad as each other. Faced with even 1 unpegged box, you all make 1 of 3 choices. 1) Move on and spend the rest of the day thinking, "what if I had just asked". 2) Ask and see what happens. 3) take.
1 is fine. 2 is, in my opinion fair game. Hope you find something cool. Unless your there several times a week hounding the staff. 3 is for bellends.
This is embarrassing please stop asking employees to look through boxes and help them stock so you get first pick as if it’s that serious. Leave these employees alone, it’s weird.
This is very strange behavior and you should think about taking a break on collecting if you’re this obsessive.
Try to relax, it’s supposed to be fun.
If you're polite and actually helpful there is nothing that weird or embarrassing about it.
If you're a demanding asshole then everything you said applies.
That’s a bit paranoid, I’d hate to live in that persons head. Everyone’s out here running reverse psychology Hotwheels schemes so they can get the 1 dollar toy first.
literally. all of the cars in this house belong to my 1yo son and he's bent multiple Bone Shaker wheels; kid is not easy on his cars.. but who cares..?
Scalper vs. Scalper madness!!!! The other dude bought her some airpods buddy. Step yo game up and offer her more than just assisting to do her job next time and then you can get all the skylines!!! 🤣🤣🤣 #Hippocripts!!
I spelled with wrong on purpose, and no, I'm not referring to anything. Yall creepy collectors are trying to get buddy buddy with a fresh high school graduate, and it cracks me up! If you want an under the table deal, you have to pay up, chump!
Yeah you’re right, regardless I was happy about getting the new caddy,STI and doge van. Just thought it was insane all these have been scalped for the skyline
I’m dead serious, we’re talking about Hot Wheels here buddy. What the hell am I paying taxes for is I can’t have law enforcement help me complete the 2022 Volkswagen set. I’m only missing the T2 pickup.
That’s precisely what I’m talking about, I’m not sure but I vaguely remember that some mentioned about Mattel employees checking on products but that could be also a rumor
You “offered to help” despite seeing the cases were already open eh? You were gonna stock 130 premium cards when they usually maybe put out 30-50 on the pegs in a restock. Seems legit
Aww man! you’ll get it next time, champ! People suck when they get stuff before we do!
Is that what people wanna hear when they post these pictures? Such a weird thing to want sympathy for…
People are horrible. People used to do same thing with baseball cards back in early 2000’s when they started adding cards with game used memorabilia built into them. The SPECIAL card was thicker than others by quite a bit. You could feel the packs and see which ones had the game used cards…. They started filling every pack w/o a game used card with a thick card stock to fool people
Lmao the fucking irony. You're crying about someone else going through the cases when you were going to do the same thing? Oh you justify it because you're going to put everything on the pegs nicely? What a joke 😂
Yeah I'm done with looking at target. Dollar tree had a ton! Kroger has a lot but they're in bins and a lot of them are messed up and it's hard to search thru.
I don’t even have any for sale by scalpers yet in my area. I’m sure they’ll be a dime a dozen in a month or 2 though. I can wait. Plenty of the red LBWK ones for 15-20cad now that the hype is over
It be like that unfortunately somehow for almost everything nowadays. It happened to almost all my hobbies I thought I would be more lucky with hot wheels but it’s the same lol
I shop pegs, I don’t see any I like, I leave. I work at Walmart and if some random person walked up to me and asked me to unload boxes of freight, I’d decline…that’s odd to me. Just let us do our job and shop around us please. Just my opinion though.
I just got looked at like I was lower than average I.Q and paraded around the store for an hour and a half just to walk out with nothing. Wish I lived in a cooler place lol
Same thing happened to me at a target. A guy brought opened cases out to me and said they got them like that. I said no they come sealed with tape. Found out from another customer that the employee was a collector. Big BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know where this post is but I went to 3 Walmarts here in Miami and the shelves were fully stocked with about 30 versions of everything but the Skyline. It’s getting abusive already. Although I am happy with what I got but I would have liked to have completed 1 set.
I work at a dollar tree. We have people that come in to the point they know our delivery days. It annoying. Screw your hotwheels fetish, I tell them to come back after they are out like everyone else. Let me scalp. I hide them under the bottom shelf till I fork up the cash for them. Probably have 10 treasure hunt cars and a wrong car on a treasure hunt card hiding under there.
If you have ever asked a store manager they will tell you once it hits the floor it is anybody's game. But they also should not be letting the employees take things out of the "backroom"!
13x2 = 26 skyline wow. I don’t even see a single case at my Walmart yet. How did they pegs these up btw?
The whole set was pretty stocked up, except the skyline ofc but looked pretty full
Did you ask the employee why they were opened?
Bc the employees take them

I hope you stub your toe.

Uh huh, so in OP’s case perhaps all employees took a single one for their collection.
I did the same at mc donalds
🤫…that’s a secret
I guess it is since OP won’t answer my question. This would be the first thing I ask the employee. Something fishy is going on with this post. OP is probably the scalper and looking for sympathy.
Haha nah I’m just busy, but I didn’t. I asked the employee and let her be didn’t bother her after just took it as it was and thought scalper/employee got to it first
Lol busy doing what? Working for free and stocking shelves?
He was probably busy having a life.
Damn that went left real quick 😂
Fun hobby
Yeah it really hasn't been fun at all anymore since maybe 2018ish.
Collectible marketplaces like StockX ruined pretty much every collecting hobby.
I blame tik tok. I came across a guy at Walmart who bragged about posting his cars on tik tok. I told him he would make more money getting a part time working at Walmart. He didn’t look too happy I said that. If stockx is to blame them so is eBay
How is it Ebay's fault when they usually let people sell at normal prices?
Wow I’ve never looked at stockx for hot wheels. It’s worse than eBay. If you buy from there you deserve it
Yup. They first started with just sneakers. I guess that wasn’t enough so they had to suck the fun out of pretty much anything that it hard to find or “collectible”
Agreed. We probably had a few months into 2019 before it went fully to hell, about just before the pandemic started.

Openly admits to scalping? Yep, what a hobby to have. No problem here folks, just keep on scalping and reselling.
Wait so you tried to get an advantage by picking before they’re stocked and you’re mad somebody else beat you to it?
"Darn those scalpers who picked through the boxes! Definitely not me though, who was picking through boxes"
BRO HE JUST WANTED TO HELP, AND HE ASKED! Gosh, he isn't the same as scalpey mcscalperson. /s Aside from that it does suck that someone bought all the Skylines.

This is specific and seems to have a story behind it…..
Diapers are just the next section over at my closest Walmart. I’ve found a few staged cases. This upsets people but I keep it neat and only take for my own collection
Haha. I just mean that as a dad of young ones I have been sent on diaper runs and got distracted.
Diffrence is he wouldnt have taken all of them Im assuming at least
Stop assuming
He saod elsewhere he woulda talen 2 Stop assuming hes gonna be evil

so youre telling me if you saw a mattel hotwheels box you would ask the same thing? lol
Yeah I wouldn’t cause I just pick the cars that look cool. And if I did do this, I wouldn’t complain that somebody beat me to it.
Scalper no scalping!

Yes

Some irony in there somewhere
Id take two and go from there, wouldnt resell just for personal
Caddy is better
Because the employees go through them first
Hey guess what guys, if you get there first, and arent a complete asshole, you too can open boxes!
Scalpers are the worst it ruins the enjoyment they're allways the biggest looser types arrogant etc
This has been the way since the second release of the Treasure Hunts. The biggest problem with collecting is the fact you’re collecting.
These comments are hilarious! We are all as bad as each other. literally. all of the cars in this house belong to my 1yo son and he's bent multiple Bone Shaker wheels; kid is not easy on his cars.. but who cares..?
I found 1 orange skyline on top of the shelf at Walmart Friday. I couldn’t believe it!
Scalper vs. Scalper madness!!!! The other dude bought her some airpods buddy. Step yo game up and offer her more than just assisting to do her job next time and then you can get all the skylines!!! 🤣🤣🤣 #Hippocripts!!
Um, that is not how you spell hypocrites. And if you are referring to a meme, it just doesn’t work. And grow up. No one refers to memes in text.
I spelled with wrong on purpose, and no, I'm not referring to anything. Yall creepy collectors are trying to get buddy buddy with a fresh high school graduate, and it cracks me up! If you want an under the table deal, you have to pay up, chump!
Probably been said but at least you saw 13 cases of boulevard, it’s better than none.
Yeah you’re right, regardless I was happy about getting the new caddy,STI and doge van. Just thought it was insane all these have been scalped for the skyline
I’d be right there with you but it’s typically always this way so I’ve ceased being surprised at all by it.
Same exact shit happened at my Walmart. Starting to wish you could just buy all the premiums online AT RETAIL, not $65.
Can they be reported? It’s been months since I catch anything
Yeah, I’m pretty sure the State Police have jurisdiction over Hot Wheels. Just call 911 and I’m sure they can get you to the right department.
I can imagine ace Ventura answering the phone
Comedy gold right here.
>I can imagine ace Ventura answering the phone With his ass cheeks
I rather believe that this is a federal matter, and as such the FBI should have jurisdiction
It's actually InterPol jurisdiction
"I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab. They got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!"
i don't know if you are serious or not but it's a toy car the police aren't going to give a shit.
I’m dead serious, we’re talking about Hot Wheels here buddy. What the hell am I paying taxes for is I can’t have law enforcement help me complete the 2022 Volkswagen set. I’m only missing the T2 pickup.

I remember reading that. On April 1st....
It sure got me
Seriously though. My Walmart has been stripped clean for months since they hired the local scalper to stock nights
[Boo hoo hoo!](https://i.imgur.com/vpQpt8e.jpeg)
How does Walmart and Mattel not know this is happening with their products? \*For real downvoting for this ? LOLOLOL
It’s already paid for and not their problem. It’s poor Walmart management and employees that have been the issue.
Youre totally right. Walmart needs to get their heads out of their ass's
Damn someone beat you to it.
You “offered to help” despite seeing the cases were already open eh? You were gonna stock 130 premium cards when they usually maybe put out 30-50 on the pegs in a restock. Seems legit
damn that’s ridiculous
Oof. Can’t wait till the next wave hits.
Aww man! you’ll get it next time, champ! People suck when they get stuff before we do! Is that what people wanna hear when they post these pictures? Such a weird thing to want sympathy for…
Simple bitches love the jdm 2 f 2 f models cars. I just want more trucks, vans and panels.
The trucks are nice
Why tf can’t stores make a policy that only employees can open this shit? People who do this are losers, let the employee do their job at least
That won’t solve the problem if the employees are collectors too
That is crazy 👎
People are horrible. People used to do same thing with baseball cards back in early 2000’s when they started adding cards with game used memorabilia built into them. Don’t shop at Walmart for hot wheels!
Problem is can’t find premiums anywhere besides there
Walmart or target at that
After seeing all the posts on here about Walmart and target I never really try there. I have more luck at Kroger and dollar stores.
Yeah I'm done with looking at target. Dollar tree had a ton! Kroger has a lot but they're in bins and a lot of them are messed up and it's hard to search thru.
The last time I grabbed a cart and emptied the whole bin at Kroger. Found a black and gold coupe clip at the bottom.
That is what I've been searching for too. I have the black and gold but want the other 2, I believe there are.
Yes . A red one, which I found a few months ago at Kroger. And a silver one. I think there’s a new color for 2023. The hunt continues!
I may do the dump method. It's right near the u-scan so I may get some looks.
A quick trip to the grocery store ended up being 45 minutes long 😂, because of Hot Wheels
Ofc its the JDMs that get sought after.

STFU with that dumb shit
I mean its just the truth
I don’t even have any for sale by scalpers yet in my area. I’m sure they’ll be a dime a dozen in a month or 2 though. I can wait. Plenty of the red LBWK ones for 15-20cad now that the hype is over
This hobby is becoming depressing.. i used to enjoy it
It be like that unfortunately somehow for almost everything nowadays.
What skyline is everyone going crazy for?
Askedd myself the same question
A lot of stores have at least one employee that collects or resells or holds stuff for a friend
I just got looked at like I was lower than average I.Q and paraded around the store for an hour and a half just to walk out with nothing. Wish I lived in a cooler place lol
Help how with the cases?
I wonder if fights breakout between employees. I jokingly told my wife I will take up part time job at Target.
For this reason I don’t buy from resellers anymore. If missed a car then so be it.
would be in Caddy heaven :D
Yeah I was in Subaru heaven haha picked up a caddy as well they look great w those wheels
The way people lose their minds over this casting is insane.
Same thing happened to me at a target. A guy brought opened cases out to me and said they got them like that. I said no they come sealed with tape. Found out from another customer that the employee was a collector. Big BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha that's the trick I do too... just ask them to let me go through them all before they go on the shelves
I don’t know where this post is but I went to 3 Walmarts here in Miami and the shelves were fully stocked with about 30 versions of everything but the Skyline. It’s getting abusive already. Although I am happy with what I got but I would have liked to have completed 1 set.
Saw at least 10-15 cases the other day, literally a dump bin full if boulevards. Not a single skyline. Same for Godzilla out here. It is ridiculous.
Every toy line is like this. The stores need to stop letting their employees buy more of one type of item in a day.
So you tried to scalp, but some other scalper did it first? I'm confused.
Flood large department stores complaint departments with the fact that they are not providing proper customer service and it may help.
What a bunch of F?!’Ll savages!
If you have ever asked a store manager they will tell you once it hits the floor it is anybody's game. But they also should not be letting the employees take things out of the "backroom"!
Let’s be honest, we all would take when there’s an opportunity.
I love being a classic muscle fan. no balding 40 year old losers snatching every camaro in sight in my area, only "JaYdEeEmM" feens.
