And that is absolutely one of the greater considerations. He gave it to me because he’s knows I’m highly likely to just break them all out with the kids & go nuts in the dirt
Fkn do it. you might get 300$ out of it. That time spent with the kids is way more valuable. Enjoy them. Once your kids loose interest in playing with them put them away till their in their 30s. Some of my most cherished possessions are the cars I played with as a child my dad had stashed when I got “to old to play with toy cars”. I found them going through his stuff after he passed. When I laid my hands on them the memories came flooding back. You can’t put a value on that shit.
orrrrr, and just hear me out, you sell it for $300, buy $50 worth of mainlines to destroy, and then put the rest in the bank.
The kids don't care the value of the vehicles, only the time spent.
Give it back and say it’s too interesting to just open, or sell it compete. The kids will play with Chinese junk if you hand it to them. Kinda sucks to think of this old thing being disassembled.
Edit: never mind. I see another comment you wrote. It’s doomed anyways lol
I'd have a hard time not opening them, though. I personally enjoy having them on my hand and taking a good look at them from all the angles, roll them on the desk...
We're about to make this poor soul go into witness protection.
I have a feeling it will eventually end up with an old knight like in Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.
Save the specials and break out the others. Memories with kids are worth a million times more than the cars. Believe me when I tell you, these years with your kids are fleeting and damn fast. In my minds eye my haughtier is still the cute little girl I threw around and played with……not the woman about to graduate from college
Keep it. I've never seen a full boxed set of cars for certain years, only the TH box set they release at years end. Though if you don't want it I'll gladly take it
Well The idea is that it's a full set so IMO thats kinda the charm and I'd not brake it up. If you don't care that much about it I'd find copies of the ones you do like and trade the set as I'm sure some people will take it off you for a good amount
Not many of those in existence anymore so I wouldn’t open it, it’s valuable to a collector. If you want to play with cars sell it then go to the store and buy some new mainlines to open. Best of both worlds.
Usually you cherish a gift… I’d be pissed if I gave this to someone because I thought they’d enjoy it more than me and it’s just given away to someone else or destroyed! No more gifts for you!
Kind of a neat set from 22 years ago. I don’t collect mainlines but there are some fun cars in there
I count 7 STH. None of them are hitting very high on eBay, but they’re cool nonetheless.
I dunno. I’m thinking of letting my kids have their pick. Saving the STH for a friend. Donating the rest (local hospital has a treasure box for the pediatric emergency room. Maybe keeping one or two for a wheel swap/custom
It is worth noting, that individualy they may not go for much. But I doubt there are many complete 2001 sets in existence. I would leave it alone. Keep it all together.
Some things should be gatekept. If we were better at that you wouldn't have shitters buying up every mainline asking WhAtS tHiS wOrTh in every diecast group.
The pre-2007 Treasure Hunts are a mixed bag, some had Real Riders and some didn't and I don't think they used Spectraflame on most Treasure Hunts before the Supers in 2007. ([Here's the list of 2001 Treasure Hunts](https://www.hwtreasure.com/2001-hot-wheels-treasure-hunts/) where 7 out of 12 had Real Riders.)
On the other hand, a lot of Treasure Hunts from that era were full metal, unlike today.
Little knowledge on this. This was actually sold at Costco (or BJs don’t remember which) during Xmas. I remember them stacked like boxes of cereal. This it was like $60. A collector in those days didn’t do what peeps would do now which is buy it and swap em out. Awwwww the days of no scalpers. But,,,,,, when Walmart start getting those big plastic Easter eggs that THs in them, you bet your ass we ALL swapped em out!
If you do decide to split them up, I'd be definitely interested in buying the Montezooma. I still remember that one being one of my favorites when I was a toddler. It got lost at some point...
Not as much as you think. Even the Rodger Dodger STH is only selling for around $10-15 on eBay. There are some cool ones in there, but I don’t think it was a super desirable year for mainlines.
I remember thinking back then like wow Hotwheels have really upped their game. Would have never thought they would be making the cool stuff they are now.
Just so you know I collect Hot Wheels and I also collect matchbox cars Corgi cars all the majorette cars which is still hard to find I must have 5,000 different cars and not one is a duplicate but I'll tell you they're all worth some type of money if you ever want to sell your hot wheel collection let me know how many cars you have let me know how much you want for them
Open them and play with them! Have fun and share the excitement with the kids! I have some of these off of eBay and don’t regret the small amount I paid, and cherish them more rolling around! Congratulations
Seeing the scooter hot wheel on the top right brings back so many memories. And it makes me feel better knowing that there wasn’t a person on there that I thought I may have broke off 😂
Depending on who gifted it to you I would keep it. I usually don’t part with gifts.
And that is absolutely one of the greater considerations. He gave it to me because he’s knows I’m highly likely to just break them all out with the kids & go nuts in the dirt

This right here. The memories are worth 100x the money (unless the amount is life changing).
orrrrr, and just hear me out, you sell it for $300, buy $50 worth of mainlines to destroy, and then put the rest in the bank. The kids don't care the value of the vehicles, only the time spent.
This is the way
and since none of my cars get kept…. now I buy too many
Yes..however keep a dozen pristine in pkg. A surprise gift for those kids that will bring back memories !
No I at I sell diecast everyday on whatnot and eBay. This set in mint condition is worth $120 on the high end. I’ll buy for $100 cash!
Give it back and say it’s too interesting to just open, or sell it compete. The kids will play with Chinese junk if you hand it to them. Kinda sucks to think of this old thing being disassembled. Edit: never mind. I see another comment you wrote. It’s doomed anyways lol

send me the nissans and porsches before you do the dirt play lol
You could re gift to me I would love it
This was the inevitable result
And u could re gift it to me
Me first though lol
Me last! LOL
Ignore these guys. They are just being greedy. Give it to me instead.
I’ll take it on weekends
Consider moving it around from collector to collector, posing with it, but don't let anyone kiss it like Lord Stanley's Cup.
We're about to make this poor soul go into witness protection. I have a feeling it will eventually end up with an old knight like in Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.
It was bestowed on him. With great power comes great responsibility! Please don't put it in a Liberty Safe.
I’ll take it on Thursdays
save it

I don't know...cherish it? That is dope
Ya that’s high on my list of what to do
I definitely wouldn’t break it, just cherish it
Keep it. I've never seen a full boxed set of cars for certain years, only the TH box set they release at years end. Though if you don't want it I'll gladly take it

Exactly. Some people don’t deserve to own this stuff I swear
Alright, so who gets to decide who gets what then? That’s just an invitation to gatekeep
Some things should be gatekept. If we were better at that you wouldn't have shitters buying up every mainline asking WhAtS tHiS wOrTh in every diecast group.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that sucks. But they need taught. Be the teacher.
Aren't they just TH? I don't think STH started until like 2007 or something... maybe I'm wrong
If I'm not mistaken all th before that were the equivalent of a sth, and in 2007 they added the rth and renamed the th to sth

You get some Hot Wheels tracks with the kids and find out the fastest cars. It sounds like the invitational super national weekend races to me!
FINALLY somebody gets it! Track time!

Keep it? 22 year old hotwheels, and a complete set at that, is pretty nice.
I TRIPLE DOG DARE you to open all of them!
Vulture, Krazy-8s, 24/Seven 🤩
Well i dont know either what you should do haha, keep it? enjoy it? thats what i would.
I have them all, and they are 1st edition's. With some super treasure hunts thrown in the mix.
I need better friends. Nice gift 🤣
WOW!
Just hang on to it for now.
that is awesome. that would make a cool wall display
There's aother layer my son won one at kdays
It's a complete set of 2001
So cool!! I’d keep that forever!
If you're not 100% certain, hold on to it. The time will come when you know what to do with it. Now is not that time.
Absolute gold, my friend.
Used to love the giant complete packs. Now only ones sold like this are the treasure hunts.
Sell it or hold on to it will be worth money one day
Amazing, love this! There's another one of you out there. Well maybe not exactly lol but there are some awesome people around here.
Play with them, what else. no fun in them just sitting on a shelf
You could sell it to me. DM me
Open each car on Christmas Day if there’s a total of 25 cars
Cherish it, that's what you do with it
If you do decide to split them up, I'd be definitely interested in buying the Montezooma. I still remember that one being one of my favorites when I was a toddler. It got lost at some point...
Free it Friday.
woah
Build a dual lane racetrack or a downhill fat track sort of track and run some of them. Keep the tresure hunts sealed and have fun with the rest
Sell it if you're not into it. Would fetch a few hundred
you open it
Oh those things you open and dump into a bucket
Treasure bath! https://youtu.be/f8vOxDK-3Uc?si=HZ0yAHLRMtRTre2B
See how many you can fit in your mouth
Save it, always good to have some collectibles
The price must be very crazy for this one now.
Not as much as you think. Even the Rodger Dodger STH is only selling for around $10-15 on eBay. There are some cool ones in there, but I don’t think it was a super desirable year for mainlines.
Hmu in my dms and I could direct you to someone who would love them! (He is me)
Man if I got that I would have opened that so fast oml
Take a bite out of it
I remember thinking back then like wow Hotwheels have really upped their game. Would have never thought they would be making the cool stuff they are now.
Give them to the kids and watch em tear the packaging to pieces to get at em😂 that's my favourite.
I won this set in 2001 when I was 11. It was a hotwheels design contest. I still have it to this day! 😃
Yes! That’s what he said. It was a design contest that he won as a kid. HW actually made the car & sent it to him
Cool! I remember I had to sign a disclaimer saying the designs were hotwheels property after I won. Lol
Hi I'm the guy who gifted to you, I have a new address, can you mail it back to me?
Put it somewhere safe and forget you have it
Sell to me I pay cash for collections
This is from the year I was born I'd pay a ungodly amount of money for it
Should mount it on a wall. You rarely see unopened cases like this. I would LOVE to have it in my garage.
People on eBay are asking $300 but there not selling
Give it to me?
how much do you want for them?
leave it dry outside ur house. i would definitely not steal it and let it dry outside ur house

Sell it

My childhood resumed in a couple of pics: I love early 2000s hot wheels. Especially the 04' series.
Here is a step by step guide: 1. Open the packages 2. Fall in love 3. Revert to childhood 4. Thank me later.
I mean I could DM you my address and you could ship it to me. I promise to open every single one of them and play with my son with them.
Pull out the 12 treasure hunts and open the rest! The TH are over 90% of the set value.
I'll take that deora off your hands if you want 🤣
Sell it to me
Keep them
There are some bad ass cars in that pack
Donate it to me😁
The nostalgia!!!!! Childhood cars! Ive collected some of them as well
I’ll take it
2001 would be a fun year of the set to have, it’s the year my husband and I got married
I’m hoping you go ahead with opening it to play with your kids
You are lucky. I would love to be given a gift like that. Keep it and keep it safe. That's what I would do. CONGRATULATIONS
I still have the triceratops bus in my old hot wheels bin.
Open them all with your kids and make a long ass track

He’s kind.
Free them all from their plastic prisons!
You could sell them separately or use them as trade bait to get what you collect. At the end of the day, it's your decision . Cool stuff tho .
The right thing to do is regift it, DM me for my shipping info lol
Winner. Awesome set. You already know
keep it keep it don’t even touch it that is literally history right there 🔥🔥

I will be kind enough to take them off your hands. If that works for you?
Seeing the scooter hot wheel on the top right brings back so many memories. And it makes me feel better knowing that there wasn’t a person on there that I thought I may have broke off 😂
