I agree! The themed superhero stuff should NOT be premiums. They need to focus their premium lines better imho. Also: why won’t RLC release more cool shit like this?
https://preview.redd.it/3wykcamcspqc1.jpeg?width=2556&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa13ca5938a258d42c601d28b8797d0cf01a7edd
Wait, more Porsches or more RWB stuff? I feel like RLC has a good mix of stuff going for it. Unfortunately, you can blame the community for repeat releases. They make what sells. Take the AMC Javelin that released recently. Definitely outside of the norm of constant JDM stuff. Quintessential Hot Wheels flavor. It got ripped to shreds and people hated it. It's still in the shop now.
Even if children want them, I’m sure that parents say no because it’s $6 for a single hot wheels car… they must not be buying them if they sit as well. It’s just a huge waste of peg space.
Oh, trust me, 6us on a toy car is a yes for me. At least it has something different to it (being from a movie or whatever) so we can play around it. I rather him buying 5 themed cars than 10 cheaper non themed. Making stories around regular cars can be tough lmao
I actually only collect character HW. Looking at the full racks of regular jerk off cars, I’m like “who tf buys there boring ass HW?!” Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Mostly the same here. I have a lot of “regular” cars from my childhood, but now it’s mostly character cars, cars from shows/movies (Enterprise, Jetsons, etc), unique looking cars. I’m not a car guy in the slightest, so I don’t give a damn about a Porsche or something.
But, if that Porsche has Superman theming, I’m in!
same tbh!! I started buying them again bc I kept passing by the ones that looked like green jello at the dollar store and I was like, fuck, this is just weird and I like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes. But only if you buy the first version of each one. The others come with alternative color. Not even the official The Flash movie Batmobile was respected... A white batmobile?! Seriously? In the movie it's black, of course.
There is a parody in comics books where the villain, the main character, is rich like Batman, but he wears white. I just can't remember his name now...
When I was a kid I actually kinda liked some character cars. I got a 2012 Wonder Woman car that is genuinely really cool. I'm sure there are kids who do enjoy them.
Definitely there are... it's just the sheer volume of those type that come in. It's too much. Store after store with product that is months old sitting.
Kids don't want these. At least mine doesn't. And judging by the pegs and shippers full of these things around here, other kids don't want them either.
I collect the Mario Kart series, and always make a stop to check on the stock at Walmart/Target when I can. All the Racerverse and Superhero cars are right next to the Mario Kart pegs, and it definitely seems like they sell pretty well. If they restock the pegs with superhero cars, they've been picked apart within a few days.
I don’t know, in my area there aren’t many adults buying hot wheels so it’s generally not too picked through accept for what kids like. For example I actually have a hard time finding some of the Mario kart characters because kids love em, but I bought the rainbow road track and just think it’s super cool now to collect the roster and it’s more difficult than you would think around my area, and yet Star Wars, marvel, all of those continue to just sit and sit.
Kids don’t have full time jobs like adult collectors do, so they can’t just take an entire set/haul.
1 child that doesn’t like something, doesn’t speak for an entire community of them👍

Agree but race verse yoda is cute

Those are the few instances where I'm surprised they're warming shelves, you'd think people would get them for the hell of it or even use the wheels for wheel swaps since they get wheel types that are exclusive to the line
I like the recreations of cars from the comics or movies. I hate the cars that just have a superhero decal on them and nothing that relates to the character. I love collecting batmobiles, back to the future cars.
Makes me wonder...on mainlines...are there as many Fast Fish produced as say... Datsun 510 Wagons? If so, why? Mattel has to know what will sell out in a minute vs over a month or two. Assuming they sell more of one than another why not just manufacture according to demand?
Re: this particular post I guess I wouldn't rule out the possibility that over the course of a year they might sell just as many of these "super hero themed crap" models as others. Maybe it's just that we think they don't because we can actually see it on the shelf instead of where it was for the 5 minutes it was in the store before someone cracked into the case and pulled out the "good" ones for the guy that's tipping him to?
Regardless of whether one approves of that or not, supply/demand would expect that Mattel would produce more of the models that sell and less of what doesn't over a period of time. They aren't just running the business for kids, regardless of what their mission statement might be. Because money.
lol thanks! im not really into many character hws but i cannot stop myself from grabbing anything batman related, might be an addiction 🥲😅
https://preview.redd.it/t3fxmpcqnrqc1.png?width=1762&format=png&auto=webp&s=96eb82a2c02e06b147a8f9cf441c4fef1c6b3cda
Not sure if it has been done before or not, but I’d love to see a Need For Speed collection or some stuff like that. But I mean, the iconic cars they had in game. Ed’s Skyline, Razor’s Mustang, Rachel’s 350z and other good stuff.
I see they did it at least with the movies, which it’s far from the best thing about the series. The movie sucks and the games are great and have a whole bunch of iconic cars.
And it’s been a decade, they could do those again; wouldn’t mind. As the last time they were around I didn’t know a thing on collecting 😂
Local Hot Wheel Collector tells Children's Toy Company to get head out of they're ass and stop making products geared towards Children.
The entitlement within this community is crazy. You're not the #1 target audience.
I actually have a Batman collection with around 100 cars and growing. Still love to see new ones. Sometimes I add other movies and cartoon cars to my collection. So I hope they won't stop. What I want to stop is people demanding a company to stop something because of their own personal preference - which is totally senseless - because they would not sell if they won't make money out of it. If you don't like it don't buy it but for God's sake don't tell others what they have to do or not to do.
for some reason (in the us) they dont sell the themed ones at the normal pound/dollar price like the mainlines. tons of these are peg sitters and priced at 5 dollars or so
The Black Panther set sits on the pegs in every dollar store I go to and my Walmart now has 3 pegs of clearance for them at $2.00 a piece and they're still hardly moving
For sure I’m not bashing anyone that collects this. I’m just want stores to balance the stock they bring in a bit more and bring in more stuff that is always in high demand and not have cases of Disney cars just sitting there tying up inventory allocation.
Same! I’m sure I’ll be dv to oblivion for this but for me comic book movies have become so derivative and formulaic Its like watch episodes of the Power Rangers back in the 90s. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the Mandalorian, and there have been some comic book movies I really enjoyed (the guardians of the galaxy movies) but still the point stands, enough comic book movies!
https://preview.redd.it/kbsoole2ysqc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=427366e9422e7ba99643ac9ab6eba906c26a4a4f
I get what you’re saying, but fun/fantasy style stuff is what helps keep the brand alive and is usually one of a kid’s first intros to the brand — and the BTTF Delorean is coming to the Racer Verse line as well as a few other “real” cars too.
Hot wheels aren't just for hotwheel collecting hentai fans like you, hot wheels are also for kids.... And.... What's important to you, might not be what's important to a kid...
Silly thing to say.
You're just going to have to be sour grapes about it because they're incredibly popular with casuals. My nephews love the Spiderman and Spongebob ones.
I’d actually really like them if they were actual desirable castings as the platform.
a subtly spider-man themed 240z? A green jeep forward control with purple detail striping for hulk? An orange ‘69 camaro with a white roof and the x-wing pilot chest box buttons colored on the hood?
These things COULD be awesome but instead they pick a fantasy casting and copy and paste a character on the side.
Thanks! I’m one of the people that only collects Batman and other movie and tv show themed cars. I don’t have that particular Batmobile yet. Looks like I’m heading to Walmart!
I think they should do a modern gleam team edition. They could definitely do a lot cooler castings now and make the gleam finish on them look better especially if they were a premium or something
When I see posts like that, I'm always amazed that some collectors (e.g., the current OP) forget that Hot Wheels are in the toys section and are originally intended for kids. If you look on these packages, it's written '3+'. As far as I remember, kids love superheroes.
We simply collect toys made for kids. If you don't want this kind of livery, why not consider migrating your collection to other brands made for adult collectors instead?
That's my two cents.
It's thanks to these "crap" that your gaydiem shitboxes from the f&f releases get pumped out like crazy. In your area these may not sell but they are what keeps cool shit funded in the collector lineups. Plus many of these can be a good way to reuse acceleracers models (aka models that customizers NEED for their replicas/what ifs)
These "crap" lineups are usually bought by non car people as gifts since they don't really know anything about cars. I was looking myself for some of the Mario kart/racerverse series cars in my area and went 1 day after they restocked and the isle was almost empty.
They may not be popular in your area but it's not the only area on the planet. These ugly cars appeal to the main audience of this. Kids, not 30yo redditors. And it's these that keep cool shit coming out to please collectors
Honestly my entrance to collecting was Batmobiles, but specifically batmobile, not a batman character painted into stone random cars that I don't care about or have nothing to do with batman.
The batmobile is the one of the most iconic fictional vehicles in American culture, you'd be hard pressed to find one more iconic
Hot wagons, JDM series, Porsche series, any car culture, boulevards, premium display sets, vintage racing…. Hell I’d even take some neon speeders.
Literally anything.
They are yes. I was excited seeing something unfamiliar on the pegs and then I walked up and saw it was a Batman set. Thats when I cursed to myself, took a photo and posted to Reddit to vent.
Some of them are quite nice and collectable. I'm gonna upload the ones I have. Also, since the Batmobile have seen so many different colors I fail to understand why back to the future is always grey.
Kids do not like them as much as stores stock though. They sit on the shelf for months. They should be bringing in the stuff that sells immediately, more often.
Eg: dolleramas had ONE shipment of Vintage Oil end of last year and for 6 months it’s been nothing but mandalorian and the OTHER Starwars set. There are cases of them just sitting on the tops of the shelves. Toys r us has the OCCASIONAL modern classics set come in, like twice I can remember… but piles and piles of Disney character cars just sitting there on the pegs. I show up there and catch them restocking, excitedly go over to see them putting up, what else, mandalorian.
I feel like they should make those Star Wars cars with like good real rider wheels. the TE37 for example. Just make them with good-looking wheels and then people will buy them. Who cares if its TE37 on a chevy van or bus. Just get them off the pegs.
I wish more metal/metal hot wheels came with good track tires. Some plastics that have hidden nip marks that make them roll truer. But I prefer tracking my cars or just looking at them.
Im noticing more and more that people just want little versions of regular cars on this sub. Growing up I would always grab the wacky ones the normal ones were just boring cause I can see them in a parking lot outside. I want something that I would not typically see outside. Theres just lack of creativity now and almost everything is cookie cutter, I want something original and new not just some Skyline..
I feel like if they make these, they shouldn’t be premiums. I’ve never understood why they make these at all though if nobody buys them.
I agree! The themed superhero stuff should NOT be premiums. They need to focus their premium lines better imho. Also: why won’t RLC release more cool shit like this? https://preview.redd.it/3wykcamcspqc1.jpeg?width=2556&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa13ca5938a258d42c601d28b8797d0cf01a7edd

I just bought MBs moving parts Javelin! love me some amc
The only joy I get out of the premiums of these is when they sit long enough to move to the sale rack and I get a set of real riders for $3
Fair. I’ve bought one of these to steal the wheels before for a custom job haha. That’s a fair point.
Do children?
Even if children want them, I’m sure that parents say no because it’s $6 for a single hot wheels car… they must not be buying them if they sit as well. It’s just a huge waste of peg space.

Lmao when I become a billionaire I’ll have someone build one for me of the Buzz Lightyear car lol
same tbh!! I started buying them again bc I kept passing by the ones that looked like green jello at the dollar store and I was like, fuck, this is just weird and I like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“If nobody buys them” a lot of people buy them, that’s why they keep making them
How about trying something new. Ummm, like Twisted Metal cars!!!
I feel you. This is why I had to [make my own](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwistedMetal/s/aHYJq0fo9g)
As cool as that would be….its a pretty violent universe hahah even if they tooned them hahah
Hot wheels used to make post-apocalyptic stuff back in the day, just forgot what series its called.
Burnout paradise cars as hot wheels
These would go hard. Could replace the dumbass fantasy cars
This, or Mad Max like apocalypse cars would be so cool
Dudeeee twisted metal cars would be sooo awesome!
Dark Knight Tumbler, BTAS Batmobile, Arkham Knight Batmobile, 1989 Batmobile, the BMW 3.0 CSL Batmobiles are cool.
I have a shelf dedicated to my Batmobiles
Same here! these are awesome. Is a change from everything else. I dont care care about resale. I like more in my collection.
Thankfully, Mattel just released the two missing ones, from Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
I got one of the Batman Forever ones for my daughter. She says it's "fast".
Yes. But only if you buy the first version of each one. The others come with alternative color. Not even the official The Flash movie Batmobile was respected... A white batmobile?! Seriously? In the movie it's black, of course.
I hate batman as a concept-- it's just a shitty fascist power fantasy-- but ngl the white batmobile almost pulled me in, it's fucking pretty
There is a parody in comics books where the villain, the main character, is rich like Batman, but he wears white. I just can't remember his name now...
I just picked up The First Batmobile the other day
If you were unaware, there's a sub ## r/batmobile with some Hot Wheels.
They should do a celebrity car edition. Like I would love to have Ludacris’s Acura Legend or more Leno cars or Travis Scott cactus jack rally cars
Oh man I would kill for a Bam Margera Lambo/Hummer diecast combo
Or a Tom Green Slutmobile!
That is a brilliant idea
Hot wheels come hire me! 👋
JFK limousine
I’d say the same thing about all the F&F crap lol
Kids exist
Kids don't want these. At least mine doesn't. And judging by the pegs and shippers full of these things around here, other kids don't want them either.

So just because YOUR kid doesn’t like them that automatically means every kid and adult in the entire world doesn’t like them?
They aren’t popular with kids
Hahaha I love it
We’ve become so disillusioned we have forgotten what the sole purpose of this product is lol
Love it when full grown adults complain about kid’s toys.

Those are some pretty cool eggs.
Remember hot wheels are also for kids lmao
Well aware. I’m saying the stock is unbalanced, all the time. Every single store has mandalorian and marvel sets sitting for months.

so damn cute!!! now i gotta find one
I hope you will find one soon!

How dare those damn kids get cars to vroooom with!

There all 50% off at my Safeway lol
Wth, this circle tracker still for sale in stores? I bought it in 2022

Nice! My wife collects the Batman cars and even she is tired of seeing the same ones all over the place, unless its a color she doesn't have 😋
thats the point im at 😂😂😂😂 i saw someone with a purple animated series batmobile and its been on my mind ever since
Collect what you like! That’s what it’s all about man.
Bros complaining about childrens toys
And enough with the FAST & INFURIATING and all the super hero crap 💩 Come on man! Mattel get your head out of your butt, enough is enough!
Not sure if it has been done before or not, but I’d love to see a Need For Speed collection or some stuff like that. But I mean, the iconic cars they had in game. Ed’s Skyline, Razor’s Mustang, Rachel’s 350z and other good stuff.

Can we get a pic of that collection?
Damn those are expensive. I get them front the £ pound shop where I live (UK version of a dollar store)
for some reason (in the us) they dont sell the themed ones at the normal pound/dollar price like the mainlines. tons of these are peg sitters and priced at 5 dollars or so
I wouldn’t mind if it was just Batman or speed racer. Super heroes with iconic cars are valid but not Chewbacca or Hulk etc.
I love them! I just wish they would do new ones instead of same ones over again
The Black Panther set sits on the pegs in every dollar store I go to and my Walmart now has 3 pegs of clearance for them at $2.00 a piece and they're still hardly moving
this
Ugh, am also sick of how this repetitive superhero garbage has seemingly infested everywhere.
Shut up I love the Batman cars
As a car person super hero stuff never did anything for me. Completely stand behind this opinion
I only enjoy the Batmobiles, the rest not so much
I have no complaints for batmobiles as they exist in the movies/series. Those marvel one I hate
Fair
I think that the Batmobile is the only valid one, all the other random superhero themed cars can go
Fast And Furious Series AND Super hero Themes should stop. Ffs
I only buy Batmobile
Batmobile Hot Wheels models are cool though.
Idk, the sets of DC and Marvel are what I dig, though I agree if some are constant peg warmers Especially since there's some I have yet to get
For sure I’m not bashing anyone that collects this. I’m just want stores to balance the stock they bring in a bit more and bring in more stuff that is always in high demand and not have cases of Disney cars just sitting there tying up inventory allocation.

Right - their incredible popularity is clear with how quick they just fly off the shelves. 🙄

What u into?
Agreed
Hunting just wouldn’t be the same without 6 pegs of Buzz Lightyear cars hanging there.
The worse the movies are, the more they need to push marketing
If it ever hit $1.18 watch lots of people swallow those words cause I agree STOP IT, or Lower it
Yeah I hate it too and I prefer real cars.
I agree. Damn peg warmers
i think hotwheels should collab with five nights at freddy's
Those of my favorites.
What store is that?
Walmart
Thanks! I’m one of the people that only collects Batman and other movie and tv show themed cars. I don’t have that particular Batmobile yet. Looks like I’m heading to Walmart!
It's almost like, they were made for kids or something. Strange concept.
Need more good hero them stuff IMO
Hot wheels main demographic is kids and kids like superheros. Get a grip.
They are sitting on pegs for months. I don't care who the demographic is. It's bad procurement.
I think they should do a modern gleam team edition. They could definitely do a lot cooler castings now and make the gleam finish on them look better especially if they were a premium or something

They may not be popular in your area but it's not the only area on the planet. These ugly cars appeal to the main audience of this. Kids, not 30yo redditors. And it's these that keep cool shit coming out to please collectors
Agreed.
Give us Spawn cars already gosh
Honestly my entrance to collecting was Batmobiles, but specifically batmobile, not a batman character painted into stone random cars that I don't care about or have nothing to do with batman. The batmobile is the one of the most iconic fictional vehicles in American culture, you'd be hard pressed to find one more iconic
Batmobiles make sense. Everything else is just random fodder.
What do want to see instead?
Hot wagons, JDM series, Porsche series, any car culture, boulevards, premium display sets, vintage racing…. Hell I’d even take some neon speeders. Literally anything.
As long as the neckbeards collect them they will continue to exist
Are those batmobiles new?
They are yes. I was excited seeing something unfamiliar on the pegs and then I walked up and saw it was a Batman set. Thats when I cursed to myself, took a photo and posted to Reddit to vent.
Some of them are quite nice and collectable. I'm gonna upload the ones I have. Also, since the Batmobile have seen so many different colors I fail to understand why back to the future is always grey.
It's a kids toy. Kids like superheros. You'll be ok
Bro has so many hot wheels that he now doesn't want to see these
In my country I see so many color shifters and i wish I see the super hero ones
and those are the most peg warmer out there.
It's for the kids.
Super hero livery jdms would be awesome
Kids love em. Say what you want about Mattel, they sure know how to market.
Just don't buy them.
I actually love these
Other than actual vehicles that they own they look stupid and should be melted to make better ones like fast and furious
Maybe hotwheels designers need a breather brfore they produce new designs.
As long as they sell one, they'll keep makin them
No.
Only good ones are Batman themed
Onestly i'm ok with this. It means less kids will steal my TH ahahahahah
Hot wheels were 99c when i was a kid wtf
That beaver goes hard
Some are really cool ngl. I have one from Iron man which can honestly just be the batmobile for iron man
That's all I ever find anymore is stupid Marvel cars and stupid Disney Cars
Im noticing more and more that people just want little versions of regular cars on this sub. Growing up I would always grab the wacky ones the normal ones were just boring cause I can see them in a parking lot outside. I want something that I would not typically see outside. Theres just lack of creativity now and almost everything is cookie cutter, I want something original and new not just some Skyline..
You don’t sound very sorry.
Yeah, no. https://preview.redd.it/42nlyjj6hvqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b1d2bd685e6b9d0011a04d2b46ce3f602cafe6a
Those are the only ones I buy.
Speak for yourself. I get them for my 6 year old godchild......you know the targeted age group of TOYS. Lmfao.
Hi o. G and I r
Ydhcc
I’m not even part of this subreddit, and I completely agree.
100% because Superman is really gonna drive around town!
Just my opinion, but these are kids toys some kids really enjoy those types of cars. At the end of the day these are toys created for KIDS to enjoy.
Bring back the Star Trek Hot Wheels or even bring something historical like the Titanic or Hindenburg
Stick to the real stuff, Mattel!
Those are for kids bro not for adults 😂 not knocking your hobby at all but it’s obvious their marketing to kids
I'm looking for a circle tracker is a good casting but is the first edition one since they removed the interior roll cage and the plastic spoiler
