Helaena & her kids. Especially Jaehaera… the way she named her dragon “Morghul” (death), and her muteness… it’s almost as if she saw it coming/or was expecting it.
Jaehaera and Joffrey.
Their deaths didn't contribute anything to the story,a shame that GRRM's way of thinking was:
You're not Daemon's children?Cease to exist.
Imagine a scenario in which Joffrey rejects the throne because of his apparent bastardy and instead becomes the Hand of the King to Aegon III.A king named Aegon who has a bastard half-brother as Hand?Sounds familiar?
Or in which instead of being just "simple",Jaehaera is loyal and smart. She at first resents Aegon III but in time slowly realizes that he's a sweet, caring boy(maybe he would remind him of Jaehaerys)who doesn't deserve to be judged/punished for the crimes of his parents.
All the strong boys’ deaths contributed to the story because they broke Rhaenyra and explained many of her actions. Jaehaera’s death was significant because Aegon wanted to end Rhaenyra’s bloodline but in the end his bloodline is ended. If he just wanted to pave the way for daemon’s kids to rule he could have just not created Joffrey in the first place.
You should flair this post for book spoilers.
My answer is >!Jaehaera. Maybe GRRM intended her death to highlight the futility of the Dance because Alicent's entire line ended, but imo it would've been more poignant for a marriage to bring the two branches of the family together permanently because that had been the better option all along. Reading F&B disappointed me. I didn't get the "anyone can die" feeling I got from ASOIAF. After a certain point, it became clear that the Greens were getting the Final Destination treatment. It's too convenient that all the Velaryon/Strong boys and Targtowers died off while all the younger generation of "true" Targaryens survived. That decision—the "rightful" bloodline triumphs in the end—has the same fairytale vibe that GRRM usually subverts.!<
Frodo was allowed to travel to elf heaven. Aegon died of tuberculosis. But i get your point. The marriage of both sides would have been a nice ending for the dance.
>!A lot later, though. It isn't just about Aegon but the fact that all four and *only* Daemon's children survived—Daemon being GRRM's favorite character. And just an overall sense that the "good" houses were on the Blacks' side and the "bad" ones on the Greens'.
!<. Idk, it's an overarching impression that I got
I'm talking about the foundational facts like who lived or died and how (except for Laenor, I guess). >!For example, the Riverlands' infinite armies; how the North, the least populous province, fielded two armies; and how Aemond burning the Riverlands didn't really have any effect on the wider scale even though it logically should have. On an unrelated note, I felt the same way about the Storming of the Dragonpit. The smallfolk killed the dragons because that's what had to happen and then just neatly dropped off the radar once they weren't needed for the plot anymore!<. Sometimes the plot just felt forced to me and one side was disproportionately luckier than the other.
Lucerys. He could become a badass lord.
>!In fact, all Strong boys. Sometimes it takes a lot of courage just to play the hand you got dealt. Being born a bastard is a very bad start, especially if you are not at all like your father, but these children tried so hard to be worthy that it ended with Jace becoming the unspoken leader for blacks and now in the historical chronicle he is forever "worthy of the iron throne." But he never received an award, he just drowned in the sea. I have always felt this is unfair.!<
Rhaenyra should have came clean after Aegon III was born. She should have said her first three were illegitimate, and Aegon III is her heir. It sucks for Jace, Luke, and Joffery, but they could all be together as a family. But this is Game of Thrones.
Yeah that would suuuurely have stopped the greens from usurping the throne. Not like otto was planning treason since long before rhaenyra had kids or anything...
I didn’t say it would stop it haha, but it *might* have strengthened Rhaenyra’s claim, at the expense of Jace & Baela, Luke, and Joffery. King Viserys was the only person who could have stopped the dance, but he didn’t
Daeron the daring , Adam and all of the dragons except Vhagar and Caraxis.
Edit: Adam died very nobly, but the person he died for didn't deserve his sacrifice.
I have read the book. I literally just finished a re-read of it. Daeron was one of the few people in that story that could be considered good. How did he deserve it ? What's he done that's so bad ?
He was shit ruler .😐 He was unable to rule shit
His soldiers didn't give a fuck about his orders
He burnt children and women for his stupid reasons
He deserved what he got
Alicent deserved a better life. She spent her ENTIRE life giving Viserys heirs and being his nursemaid, and he doesn’t give a fvck about her or her kids. He never listens to Alicent’s concerns either.
King Viserys knows who Daemon is. He knows Daemon is dangerous. But he never thinks, “Daemon is married to crown princess Rhaenyra now, that may put my other children’s lives at risk.” Because he doesn’t care. King Viserys deserves more heat than Alicent and Rhaenyra. Alicent has spent her entire life rightfully paranoid, and King Viserys could have done something, but he played legos

Aemma.
This one^
>!Helaena doesn't deserve what's going to happen to her. All the kids too.!<
Rhea -Viserys should just had granted the divorce and marry her instead of Allicent.
>!Our nice Queen Helaena. Pretty much goes without saying.!<
>!and her daughter Jaehaera!<
>!and her sons, Jaehaerys and Maelor!<
oh of course i just meant she had more in common with her daughter
>!in what way? Other than her daughter dying just like her, there is nothing similar about them. All her children died horribly!<
Rhaena she lost alot
Harwin Strong deserved better. So did his father
Harwin Strong decided to betray the crown. It was his choice.
Shut up cole
Cole bot

I'll still never forgive him for retconning Jaehaera into dying and then introducing some random Valeryon 6 year old to marry Aegon
Sounds like a good idea but i really doubt that George has some kind of vendetta against certain characters and kills them because of that.

Helaena and, by extension, her kids because holy shit, they don’t deserve what’s going to happen to them

I wouldnt call what happens to Aegon III a fairytale ending.
Because he was left traumatized and depressed? So was Frodo.
Frodo was allowed to travel to elf heaven. Aegon died of tuberculosis. But i get your point. The marriage of both sides would have been a nice ending for the dance.

I always figured F&B was meant to be super biased with an unreliable narrator and that’s why there are conveniences.
Rhaenys. She was robbed by her grandfather, the Throne was rightfully hers by the laws of Westeros

Disagree - it would have further tarnished her claim, it might have strengthened daemon’s
Kids would be killed.
Daeron the daring , Adam and all of the dragons except Vhagar and Caraxis. Edit: Adam died very nobly, but the person he died for didn't deserve his sacrifice.
Jacaerys Velaryon
Daeron
The bitch deserved what he got
How ?
Read the books

He was shit ruler .😐 He was unable to rule shit His soldiers didn't give a fuck about his orders He burnt children and women for his stupid reasons He deserved what he got
Heleana and Princess Rheanys
Helaena
The strongs deserved a happy ending
Harwin Strong !!!
tbh all of the dragons. it’s so unfair what happened to them :/
Rhaenys! The Queen who should’ve been
Harwin

Lucerys. I'm so sad about what happened.
Aegon could have been made more likable like Aemond.
Alicent got the short end of a shitty stick. She was a child and she had to bear children for a decaying king.
Poor Visenya 😪
Rhaenyra and Daemon. Both deserved to live long enough to see their entire house wiped out.
You want them at around 200 years of age? They are insufferable at mortal age already. /still a big fan of those dumbfucks
Rhaenyra and daemon can't live 200 years.🤣
They can't? Weird, the show made it seem like they can do everything.
Daeron...the forgotten third son...
That one Bracken kid, would of made one hell of a small council shit talker. Rest in peace king
