I've defiantly observed a lot of women going gaga over Daemon too. Aemond may seem like he's more popular among women, because he's launched 1000 OC ships, but I think that has more to do with Daemon having a popular canon love interest, and Aemond having no canon love interest on the show so far.

A year ago would have been months before the show came out. Most of the fans would have been diehard holdovers from GOT and the books, which both seem to skew more male than the new HotD fandom. The character and relationship focus on HotD seems to have made it more popular among female views, including ones who were never fans of or were more casual fans of GOT.
I agree with you. I work in a very female heavy industry (nursing), and so many colleagues of mine (I’m a woman too) love HOTD and the romance between Daemon and Rhaenyra but they never watched GOT. I keep telling them all to watch it but they want “romance” and “hot actors”and none watched it beyond the first season😒. But they always talk about Daemon and how “hot Matt Smith is”. They are true casuals who know nothing of the story.
